Natural Food Supplements

Question: What kind of natural food supplements would a pro or serious athlete take to enhance performance?

Answer: I recently heard a talk from an Ironman Kona finisher. He recommended Chili, Glucosamine and Chondroitin, Zinc, all to protect soft tissues and cartilage. Chili also helps lose weight. Unger, the german tri world champion, spoke highly of it - he just swallows up to 12 dried birds eye chilies a day with water (don't chew :-)) - this helped him stomach another training unit per week without damage, and helped him lose weight to increase the power to weight ratio. Plenty of protein and iron, too. Magnesium and Calcium are important to keep muscles going so take a rather high dose.
