Question: What is the shortest amount of time i can enlist in the Marines and can i reenlist after those years are up? Basically i want to be a Marine but i want to take a safe route. I want to join for the least possible amount of years to see if i like it. If i do then i want to reenlist. My question is what is the least amount of years i can enlist and then once im out can i reenlist as active duty? And what are the lengths of time i can do for active duty?
Answer: First, you don't want to re-enlist AFTER you get out. It's a pain in the BUTT to do. You'll have to find a recruiter and go through MEPS all over again. Not worth the hassle. Just figure out if you want to reenlist before your ETS date. PS...you can always extend for 1 year or so (I think...not sure about USMC) even on the very last day of your enlistment.
Question: What is the length of a copper wire with a mass of 26g and a diameter of 0.14mm? Can anyone help me out with this Chemistry Question. Possibly explain how this problem is solved.
Thanks
A copper wire (density = 8.96 g/cm3) has a diameter of 0.14 mm. If a sample of this copper wire has a mass of 26 g, how long is the wire?
Answer: The question is calculating the volume of copper wire that you have, where
volume = mass/density= 26/8.96= 2.902 cm3
Volume of wire(assuming it is cylindrical) is Pi*diameter (in cm)^2*length of wire/4
therefore Length of wire= 4*area/(Pi*diameter^2) = 4*2.902/(Pi*(0.14/10)^2)= 18850.35cm or 188.50m
Question: What are some good ways to talk to children about the dangers of firearms? For law enforcement day I was given the opportunity to pass out firearms locks then talk to children on the dangers of firearms. I thought I be patrolling the mall to be honest. But, being a rookie I was assigned to help Harrold pass out gun locks to the parents to keep our children in the community safe from the dangers of an unlocked gun. We also had certificates to pass out to the kids after talking to them about the dangers of a firearm. After they promised to not touch the firearm they would sign this. I wasn't expecting so many parents wanting me to discuss the dangers of firearms to their children. They also thanks me afterwards so I see the importance. Basically it seems that the children see the badge and like to hear it from an authoritative figure. I feel I did a pretty good job but I'm looking for ideas on how I can improve my discussions on firearm dangers. Thanks!
Thanks so much already I only had about 5 min. with each child
Answer: BY saying owning a firearm is a big responsibility and many people take care the way they should.. those who do not will help us lose our rights to bare Arms.. I lost a cousin to a firearm accident.. his brother shot him in the head on an accident.. it will forever change every ones life. We can not bring back the people we lose but we can prevent it from happening.. We should teach the importance of not only locking guns.. but never to point or play with a gun. I think it is every ones responsibility to do this..
Question: What are some habits of dominicans that i need to know before moving there? What things do you think i should know before moving to DR (santo domingo), i am moving there for few months, being a foreigner, what are some things i should be aware of?
By the way, are dominicans very materialistic?
Answer: Dominicans are far less materialistic than people in North America. Far more content and happier too. Some things to know about Dominicans; most people are out for themselves and do whatever it takes so they can benefit. You will find that they generally have little to no respect for themselves, their fellow man, and their country (they will disagree, but they are very confused what respect actually means).
If you are living in Santo Domingo DONT DRIVE! It's f**ing crazy! Guaranteed, you WILL get into a wreck. Everyone does. Its just a matter of the degree of damage that is done. And the stress caused by driving in that city is completely insane. There are no laws. And if you want to argue the fact that laws exist, they are not enforced. Traffic lights and one way signs are only suggestions. Drive on the sidewalk or on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic, not a problem.
If you come from North America, you are taught that the customer is always right. Down here, the customer is ALWAYS wrong. Even if you are right, you are wrong. Service and quality does not exist.
With all that said, Dominican can be some of the nicest people you will ever meet. My suggestions as to how to meet "nice", "good", and "affluent" Dominicans. Dont socialize with the least common denominator. Meaning, dont be so happy that you made a friend in the local colmado. Make friends with the owners of bars and restaurants. The business people who are affluent and successful.
You want to meet girls? Go to the nice clubs and just make friends. I promise, you will get phone numbers without even asking. Dominicans live by their phones. So make sure you have one. Most affluent girls here speak English and have their own car. Want nothing, and expect nothing. Then everything will come with time.
Some places to go, Docks, LED, Rua's, Zambra, Hard Rock, Cinema Cafe, Taboo Bamboo, Cinnamon Cafe, Jet Set, La Suite, Amika, and theirs a ton more. All these places have a dress code and some or most have cover charges.
Most of all, have fun!
Question: What exactly do I need to start a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail? A couple of people and myself are planning one in the next couple of years and were wondering what would the best things to pack for a winter start in Georgia. Plus what would be some things that our families could mail us along the way as the weather begins to get warmer?
Answer: Several months of free time.
Strong legs and good overall health (well, this is not absolutely necessary, but comes in handy...)
Good, comfortable hiking boots - a "must". Also, keep your feet as dry as possible. If your feet are prone to sweating, change your socks more often, and you can reduce sweating by bathing your feet in a borax solution daily for a couple of weeks before the hike and occasionally during it if the sweating comes back. Proper foot care is VITAL on a long hike. Cut your toe nails regularly, and don't let fungal infections get established between your toes. If you stat to get a blister, put a porous bandaid on it as soon as you notice it: don't let blisters grow.
Lightweight tent that is also durable. Best tent bargains are right now - end of season sales!!
Adequate water containers - you should carry at least a couple of liters at all times, and some water purifying tablets in case you get caught in a situation where you have to use them.
A bit of money for use in emergencies - $100 would be just fine.
A good, easily-carried pack: make sure it doesn't cut into your shoulders when fully loaded, and balance it properly for carrying with minimum back problems. Carry your load fairly high on your shoulders: too low is bad for the lower back.
Contact information to carry with you - not just one telephone number, but a couple and email addresses would be a help in some situations.
Rope - to help secure your tent in storms, for use as clothes-lines, etc. Recommend hemp rope, not nylon or polyester. Rope comes in handy in a variety of situations: don't be caught without it!!
Strong but thin twine.
"Emergency kit" - first aid stuff like bandaids, antibiotic ointment, aspirins, triangular bandage etc., and matches in a waterproof container, a few fish hooks and lures..... the ingredients of a good first aid and general survival kit can be found on many websites.
A good general knowledge of edible and medicinal (and poisonous!) plants wouldn't hurt... can come in handy in many situations. For example if you know that jewelweed/"touch me not" is a great antidote for poison ivy, that could save you a lot of itching!! If you know that the common plantain weed is very effective to calm down wasp and bee stings, this could also be very useful, etc.
A "tin can stove": something you can light a little contained fire in when the woods are dry, will come in useful in a variety of situations.
Maps: the trail is well marked, but if you ever get off it somehow, or like to know precisely where you are, a map is really useful!!
Couple of changes of clothing: staying dry is necessary for good sleep and good health.
Rain clothing is a "must"!! It can be very light weight but make sure it is strong and durable.
A few camp cooking things and dishes.
Food to last a few days should be carried: dried food is best. Cans are heavy.
Sun screen, and if you are sensitive, bug repellent (but if you completely ignore bug bites, they go away very quickly).
Be sure to check your body for ticks at the end of each day - if discovered on the same day, hardly ever transmit parasites.
Wear a hat - and a good walking stick will come in handy in a variety of situations.
Question: How much of the music you listen to is affected by the popular opinion of that band? And please be honest. It could be in any way. It could be like you don't want to listen to a band because they get a bad name even if you like them. Or it could be a band you avoid even trying to listen to because of the same reason. Give examples!
Answer: my favourite band is My Chemical Romance. I know that whilst many people like them a lot of people can't stand them. Everyone i know knows My Chemical Romance are my favourite band and a lot of these people have gave me a lot of shit for it. I always stand up for them and i will always continue to do so. I don't personally care what anyone else thinks of my favourite band; i love them and that's all that matters to me. All bands have their haters so if we all chose not to listen to music through other peoples opinions music probably wouldn't even exist. Everyone has the right to their own music and to listen to what they want so i believe you should just ignore the haters and listen to what makes you feel happy, because it's your life, your taste and your music.
Question: How did India transform itself from a poor country to one of the richest in the world? It seems to me that India is THE destination for business right now. Me and my chums were going through the ups and downs of countries and continents and I would very much be interested to know the "macroeconomic changes" that India made to become one of the wealthiest nations and a potential superpower.
Answer: India changed its policies in the mid 90s.... in the mid 90s, they transformed themselves into a market based economy. It was previously a socialist based economy.... I hope that helped cuz they made a lotta changes in the 90s....

Question: What are the effects of over the counter sleeping pills like Tylenol Pm? I'm not going to lie here. I'm addicted to Tylenol Pm or any of the over the counter sleeping aids. I can sleep good at night. I take them because I like how my body feels. The drowsiness, and waiting game excites me. I have been taking 2-6 pills during a whole day. I'm sort of depressed now, so the pills helps me escape.
How are these pills harmful.
Answer: I would like to commend you on being honest about being addicted to the pills. I think however you should consult a physician about being depressed.
As to the damage of using Tylenol, it has many effects mainly the liver. Please when or if you see your physician let them know about your addiction to tylenol. So that they will be able to fairly treat you

Question: What kind of golf balls should a beginner like me use? What kind of golf balls should a beginner like me use out in the golf course use? 1or 2 layers? or even more? I heard that choosing the right golf ball is just as important as your golf clubs.
Answer: In all honesty don't worry about layers for now if you are just starting. The best advice i can give you is, like with anything you cannot start at the top you have to work your way there. This means that ProV1's should be something to work towards.
You are right that balls are just as important as clubs but what you must realize is that the ball itself needs the club to function properly. Pro V1's and other high performance balls are intended to be used with a player who can use their clubs properly.
My personal recommendation is to start with some TOP FLITE golf balls maybe something like a Z-Ballata. There are usually inexpensive $15.00 maybe 10$ on sale. Use these for a couple months until you are hitting solid shots like 75% in the air with control then maybe switch to a nike ball something a little better for performance. Once you start getting consistant distance really mix it up with ball types see what feels best trust me you will notice a difference between most of them especially around the greens. Some balls will get higher some will stay low, some will run while others will stick.
Hope this helps
James
Question: What kind of B vitamin should I take for more energy? I know there are a ton of B vitamins out there so I was wondering if there was a specific kind? I'm having a sluggish period in my life right now (not really alot stress going on either) where i have like zero energy, anyone have any ideas?
Answer: Unlike protein, carbohydrates and fats, vitamins do not yield usable energy when broken down - they are truly calorie free. However, they assist the enzymes that release energy from carbohydrates, proteins and fats, while providing no energy themselves. This does not mean vitamins are not important! Although the vitamins themselves don't provide energy, many are required for chemical reactions that do produce energy. In this sense, vitamins can give you energy.
All the best
Question: What is the best breed of horse for showjumping? I have just got rid of my thoroughbred and I was wondering what breed of horse would excel in showjumping as I am aiming to go national?
Answer: Any breed of horse can jump... even breeds that people say can not. Like the Walking Horse. However, you asked for those that could excel.
I read an article about a blind woman jumping in competitions. I believe she was jumping a four year old paint. I also saw a spotted horse jumping on tv the one time.
Personally, I would base your decision on more than just the breed. You might be missing out on something if you did.
Question: What is the most thrilling part of tennis to you? My participation in the US Open has ended earlier than I would have liked. However this gives me the opportunity to watch some of the great games on offer during the US Open, and to ask which part of Tennis YOU find the most thrilling?
Answer: The last shot of the last match of a Grand Slam tournament... when you favourite player is on the line, nearly touching that trophy, you feel some sort of synergy; tension, thrill and excitement all shared along the road with that favourite of yours. Most certainly, it's something peculiar to feel this relief, this amazement when you see him hit the ground, finally champion.
As for what I prefer from the game, it's some kind of transcendental elegance; the finesse and harmony behind the most violent actions held on the court... the beauty, expressed through this art in some sensible instances which are known to us as "movements." The most powerful and clean motions exhibit this kind of gracefulness. Indescribably similar in their calmness and coherence, yet different in all witnessed regards; in that matter, the sport is no longer purely physical.
It sounds a bit peculiar, but it's what I like so much about that sport: the gracefulness and ease of those top players. Many people spoke of your serving motion as being robotic, due to your preparation; when you take the time to slow it down to humanly comprehensible speed, it's possible to then appreciate the execution. If you have not yet bothered to do it, pick some players, including yourself, and pay a specific attention to how some shots are executed... It might take five minutes, but once you have look at them with a mind at aesthetics, you might understand better what I meant, stating that tennis is an art.

Question: How did the Nazis use policies of fear to maintain support? With the exception of Gestapo, SS, camps, death, and NotLK and Kristallnacht - how else did the Nazis use policies of fear to maintain support ??
Many thanks
Answer: That is the reason how they used fear to maintain support of those who were questioning or unsupportive of the Nazi government. The rest of the population submitted because they liked the Nazi government, Hitler and his policies.
