Answer: There are a couple things to address here. First is that Amway is a Multi-Level Marketing company, so their prices are marked up more than normal to pay for the person who sold it, the person that hired them, the person that hired them, and all the way up the line. Because of that higher price, they will often make more claims than may be normal to get more people to buy it, so watch out for that. If it's Fish Oil or another simple Omega 3 product, then definitely shop around to make sure you're getting the best product for the best price. The second thing to address is quality. With a company as big as Amway, I would assume and hope they have good quality, but you could also call and ask them to prove their quality. No, not just to say they have good quality, but to prove that they use appropriate testing methods and whatnot. After all, there are many higher quality companies out there that are readily available and well priced... just make sure the company has a good rating with either the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) or USP (U.S. Pharmacopoeia), as those are the main quality assurance organizations (USP is for the U.S., GMP is for the U.S. and worldwide). With Fish Oil specifically, you'll want to make sure they use Molecular Distillation because that is currently the only safe way to remove all trace contaminants of any heavy metals (like Mercury). Otherwize .. i'd still take my bet on the 1000mg fish oil capsules- consume 1/2 times per day with meals if you eat fish, consume 2-3, 1000mg capsules dailey with meals if you do not eat fish. Question: Is fish oil Omega 3..a good thing to take..3 capsules a day of 1200 mg..along with an aspirin and a vitamin? I drop one aspirin and one multivitamin and 3 capsules of omega 3 fishoil a a day.. is that ok? or detrimental possibly at all?

Answer: There's no need to take the aspirin. The fish oil is beneficial for your heart and several other things, and the multivitamin is a must. You shouldn't take aspirin with fish oil too often because it thins the blood too much.

Question: Should I bite down on the omega-3 capsules or just swallow it whole? If I break open the capsule and drink the omega-3 fish oil, would it absorb better than if I swallowed the capsule whole (the benefits far outweigh the taste IMHO).

Answer: Instead of 3000mg at one time, take 1 capsule after each meal.

Answer: While essential fatty acid/Omega 3 supplements are not regulated by the FDA I wouldn't be too terribly worried about mercury contamination. Purity does vary from brand to brand but they all go through a pretty extensive refinement process. If you are concerned but still want to supplement your diet with omega-3 then consider taking a flax seed based supplement instead. It's actually a better source of Omega 3's than the fish oil as our body absorbs it more thoroughly.
