Omega 3 Fish Oils
Question: What are the benifits of taking omega 3 fish oils? I have read a lot about them helping with depression and anxiety. Has anyone taking this noticed any kind of benifits from this?
Answer: They maintain hormonal balance in the body. I've been using flaxseed oil with my protein shakes everyday for almost 3 months. I feel damn good overall. I can't specifically promise you it's from the omega3,6,9s since I workout hard and eat right.
Question: What do Omega 3 Fish Oils do for you? I hear a lot of people say that they take them everyday. I hear that it's good for you're skin. What all does it do for you and is it really good for your skin? Also, do you have to consult a doctor before you start taking them?
Answer: It's true, fish oil for skin care can really help you to have a healthier, younger looking complexion, and this on top of the many of great benefits to be had from this amazing oil.
It works on many levels, helping to prevent the skin from drying out and its anti-inflammatory qualities make it effective for treating many ailments like psoriasis, eczema and acne.
Fish oil for skin health also helps to protect against the suns harmful UV rays due to its potent omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, and helps to promote elasticity and firmness. It is one of the few supplements recommended as an addition to any healthy skin care regime.
With current recommendations that we only eat one portion of oily fish a week due to the toxins and the fact that an estimated 80% of us are deficient in them, a daily supplement is the ideal solution.
It is important to know that of the two omega 3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA, it is DHA that provides most of the benefits especially for skin, heart and brain health so check the label or website carefully to ensure it is the highest level; otherwise you will have greatly reduced fish oil for skin benefits.
Ensure it has been molecularly distilled to remove any toxins like mercury and lead, leaving only pure concentrated oil, rich in omega 3.
The Hoki fish from the pristine oceans of New Zealand provide some of the highest levels of DHA and lowest levels of contaminants in the world and are the best source currently for omega 3 oil.
By taking a daily supplement you will not only be benefiting from fish oil for skin health, but from protection against the many other dangers it provides.
Providing you are a normal healthy person not taking anything that thins your blood like aspirin then there is no need for you to consult your doctor about embarking on a normal daily dose.

Question: What do you think of Omega - 3 fish oil capsules? I was just wondering why Omega-3 fish oils are recommended so much when they contain a small amount of cholesterol ? I have been taking 2 each day for a long while as part of my diet supplement routine. Has anyone else who takes these found any noticeable benefits from taking them, and how many each day do you take ? What are the differences between Omega-3 and Omega- 6 oils that you know of? Thank you for all comments.
Answer: Hi, yes I have found that they are very good for energy and alertness , and you have no need to worry about the cholesterol , the body does need cholesterol as part of its daily nutrition.
Question: What are the benefits of taking omega 3 fish oils?
Answer: Brain benefits and some heart benefits.
Fish oil also helps to reduce high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
Question: How many mg's of omega 3 fish oils should one take daily? How many mg's of calcuim should women take daily?
Answer: You can safely take 6 fish oil capsules a day of 1,000 mg each.
Women can safely take 1,200 mg of calcium a day if the calcium comes from calcium carbonate. Large amounts of calcium require a magnesium supplement as well. If you take calcium carbonate a lot less is absorbed than if you take an organic calcium supplement such as calcium gluconate or calcium amino acid chelates. You can also get calcium/magnesium combination supplements.
Question: Red Yeast Rice and Omega 3 Fish Oils to Lower Cholesterol? My cholesterol is borderline high and my doc recommended I start taking red yeast rice capsules and fish oil. Has anyone else used this combo and had good results? How long did it take to come down? Thanks
Answer: my dad takes fish oil pills for the Omega 3 in it also for his cholesterol.
usually you see results pretty quick but you need to keep your levels at a good range.
you can also try eating salmon twice a week. that has Omega 3 in it also. Sardines....and a lot of foods now if you look at the box or nutritional guide on it says that it's fortified with Omega 3 also.
There are tons of ways you can get the Omega 3 needed for your diet. just look around in grocery stores and i'm sure you'll be fine@!
Question: Omega 3 Fish Oils, how often should they be used? I bought some Fish Oils, I'm really not sure how many I should take. If someone could please tell me when and how many I should take for the best results, that would be great!
Thank you
Answer: I think you should take one rectally three times a day.
Question: What is the highest Omega 3 fish oils 1000mg(DHA etc) that you know being used by someone currently? Doing some research for a very close friend of mine. I 've learned that 5(five) 1000mg salmon capsules are being ingested daily by someone. Do you know of a higher supplementation? Whats a safe maximum-or does it depend on body mass, height, age etc..?Thank you for your time and coherent answer. God bless you.
Answer: Assuming that your friend is taking this to assist in lowering triglycerides or cholestral, Doctors recommend 4000mgs per day. I am personally taking more than that with no ill effects so far. Whereas fish oil capsules are actually made from real fish oil, I don't think that O.D.ing is possible although your friend may experience loose bowles if too much for him or her is consumed.
Question: Are you suppose to take omega 3 fish oil capsules and flaxseed oils together?
Answer: If you are having them for the w3 fatty acids I recommend fish oil, it has EPA and DHA which flaxseed hasn't. There are many benefits described for DHA and EPA related to immune system, nervous system and cholesterol control.
Taking both of them won't harm you, but it is not necessary
Question: Why does omega-3/fish oils improve brain function? And what does the bottle mean when it says, "brain function"? As in memory retention?
How does it do this? Could someone explained this in terms of biochemical reactions/receptors/what have you? I have a science background, so don't hesitate to use technical terms -- thanks!
Answer: Omega-3s and brain health
The omega-3 fatty acid known as docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an important ingredient for optimal brain function. Earl Mindell, RPh PhD, writes in Earl Mindell's Supplement Bible, “There's a reason why fish is known as brain food. It is a rich source of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), a fatty acid that is found in high concentration in the gray matter of the brain. DHA is instrumental in the function of brain cell membranes, which are important for the transmission of brain signals.” By making cell membranes more fluid, omega-3 fatty acids, especially DHA, improve communication between the brain cells, according to Mind Boosters author Dr. Ray Sahelia. As a result, lack of omega-3 in the body can cause a communication breakdown in the brain, which is probably the last place you'd want such a breakdown to happen.
Omega-3 fatty acids are so important to the development and proper maintenance of the brain that “some scientists even postulate that it was the ingestion of omega-3 EFAs that allowed the brain to evolve to the next stage in human development,” according to Superfoods Rx authors Steven G. Pratt and Kathy Matthews. While omega-3s were abundant in our diets before the 20th century, they are now seriously lacking. The Editors of FC&A Medical Publishing write in The Folk Remedy Encyclopedia, “Just like a machine, your brain needs oil -- in the form of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids -- to run smoothly. Unfortunately, the average diet doesn't usually contain the right balance of these fatty acids. If you eat a typical modern diet, you probably get plenty of omega-6 through corn, soybean, and other oils in processed food. But omega-3 oils, which are just as important, are often missing.”
Question: Does anyone give there dog omega 3 fish oil? A lot of people seem to give their dogs omega 3 fish oil tablets, "Omega-3 oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can help relieve canine arthritis pain and itchy skin. Omega-3 oil can also help dogs maintain healthy skin and shiny coats"
Does anyone give their dog these tablets on here? do you see an improvment?
Answer: my dog was born with carpel flexural deformity. This basicaly means his legs were bowed. He found walking quite hard i put him on a omega 3 fish oil for a few months and his legs straigthened out. He allways has a very silky coat, no dandruff and strong bones. i would highly reccomend putting your dog on omega 3 fish oil !!!!!!
Question: Is there Omega-3 Fish Oil capsules or tablets that won't repeat on me? I would love to take daily Omega-3 Fish Oil supplements, but the one I purchased from GNC (Fish Body Oils 1000) makes me belch a lot with an awful-tasting fish after-taste. Does anyone know of a good supplement product which does not do that? Thank you.
Answer: Put ur fishoil pills in freezer. Cold pills will get rid of belching.

How to stop belching associated with Fish Oil supplements?
If your body is not used to digesting fish, you may enzymes that break down the fish oil. Lack of these enzymes results in belching, flatulence, and other disorders.
Reducing the amount of fish oil, or a composition of fish oil with other oils does not resolve the problem. As you take the fish oil pill every day, after about a week your body will start creating enzymes to breakdown the oils. It may take up to 2 months.
Following steps will help reduce the discomfort.
1. Make sure the fish oil supplements are fresh and not near the expiration date. Time and temperature may make fish oil rancid and more difficult to break down
2. Keep your fish oil supplements in freezer. The fish oil does not freeze. It will lower the temperature to extend time for the enzymes to break it down.
3. After taking fish oil, always get some thing to eat. You want the fish oil pill on the bottom of the food in your stomach.
4. Start with one supplement pill per day till your body has become used to it. Then you may add another pill.
If you are fortunate, belching will stop in one week, otherwise you have to wait longer.
Question: Should I take both Omega-3 Fish oils and Cod Liver Oil 3 times a day or just Cod during winter time? I've heard Cod Liver Oil is good for you during winter since you're exposed to the sun less due to being inside all the time. Anyways, i've been taking omega-3 fish oils for about 3-4 weeks now.. and I ran into a article that said it's good to use cod liver oil during winter time. Question is.. Do i still take the Fish oil too at the same time with the cod liver or just take the cod intill winter time is over and switch back to fish oil.
Answer: Fish oil is taken for the brain and heart benefits whereas cod liver oil is taken for the vitamin A and D content (they are often fortified with extra added vitamins A and D) so you should take the fish oil for 12 months every year. Take both together in winter and just the fish oil on its own for the rest of the year when you are not taking the cod liver oil.
Question: Omega 3 Fish Oils... ok to take? One of my fav celebs always talks about how she has great skin and how she likes to take Omega 3 Fish Oils. Is she talking about capsuels and is something like that safe to take?
Answer: They are very safe and well tolerated. They come in capsule form (usually 1000mg).
They are a must.
Question: Lexapro + omega 3 fish oils? is it a good idea to take lexapro with omega 3 fish oils?
Its just a natural oil id get from eating fish but its my brain and i dont want to screw with it.
Answer: I take both. My suggestion to you if your not 100% sure check with the doctor who prescribed the Lexapro.
It's a good question you asked because most people just take any type of herbs or vitamins with these types of drugs.
Good luck!
Question: when is the best time of day to take omega 3 fish oils.? The serving size says 2 soft gels a day, but what is best for a person with aspergers syndrome & has severe panic & anxiety issues, as well as problems with concentration & cognitive ability.
Answer: It doesn't really matter when you take fish oil because it is not a short-acting supplement. The effects build up over days and weeks of continued use.
Make sure that you get a good quality fish oil and pay attention to the amount of EPA and DHA in the capsules. You want to maximize it.
You can take a lot more than the "serving size" when it comes to fish oil supplements - it isn't something that can be toxic.
BUT do make sure that you are using a really good one that is micro-distilled. The reason is that the fish the oil comes from are top-of-the-food-chain species so may have concentrated contaminants such as mercury in their tissues. The distillation filters them out.
I am not recommending Nordic Naturals because it is the only good brand, there are others such as those made by BioChem (Country LIfe), and TwinLab. When I worked in the supplements field though, there was a lot of good feedback with Nordic Naturals brand. And they have done at least one medical study using it:
http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/58302.php
I am autistic, have ADHD, and am extremely anxiety-prone like you. I was taking fish oil regularly at one point and kept it up for a long time. It did take the edge off the anxiety. I didn't stop taking it because of any side-effects or anything. I stopped because when I was no longer working at that job, I no longer got free samples and a discount!
Take more than two a day and take them whenever it is convenient. All together or separately.
