Question: What is the difference between omega 3 eggs and regular eggs? Is it just the increase in omega 3 and if so can regular eggs have flaxseed or an omega 3 oil added and give the same benefits?
Answer: The laying hens get fed Omega3 rich foods, but to get any benefit you would have to eat a lots of eggs.
This increases the bad cholesterol intake so not a good idea to eat a lot of eggs each day , personally I take Omega3 rich fish oil capsules as that is absorbed easily and no side effects..helps with circulation, and lifts good cholesterol count...cheers
Question: Is Omega 3 essential for brain development when pregnant? I cannot eat seafood. I am allergic to a lot of it but I am pregnant and want to make sure I am getting the nutrients I need for my baby. I have heard Omega 3 helps brain development in your baby while pregnant. Is fish the only way to get it? Should I take an Omega 3 supplement? I am takinf a prenatal vitamin but I am not sure if it contains any Omega 3 fatty acids.
Answer: It is essential after 6 months of pregnancy. That is the time the baby will start it's major brain developmnent. Also, I reccomend you ask your Dr to prescribe you pregvite. It has to b prescirbed by your doctor. It has all the vitamins and nutrients you need in it. It can be hard on your stomach though, especially in the morning. (It is much better than all the over the counter pregnancy pills).
Question: If I am already taking Omega-3 Fish Oil capsules - is there any reason to eat fish 3 times a week? I read that it is recommended to have fish 3 times per week. But I am already taking Omega-3 fish oil capsules. So is there any further benefit to eating fish?
Like is there some magical component in the fish that I am not getting from the capsules?
Thank you.
Answer: I think you are fine.. I don't like fish so I take the capsules daily because I read that it's good for your body. If you like fish, go ahead and eat it!! I think having fish once a week is great-- eating it 3 times a week is overkill... BUT I'm sure there are people who absolutely love fish and eat it more.
Question: Are omega-3 pills that you can buy at a vitamin store have any mercury in them? I just read from another question I asked that omega-3 fatty acids is good to take if your pregnant, but to be careful about mercury levels. Do omega-3 fatty acid pills have any mercury in them? Can I just have my wife take those pills instead of eating fish?
Answer: Consumerlab.com tested different products, and determined that none of the ones that they tested had mercury or PCBs, unlike certain fish.
GOOD NEWS! THESE SUPPLEMENTS HAVE OMEGA-3's WITHOUT CONTAMINANTS FOUND IN FISH! BUT SOME ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS. FIND OUT NOW!!
Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) from fish and other marine sources may reduce the risk the heart disease, improve symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and be useful in the prevention and treatment of many other diseases.
But two Omega-3 products failed ConsumerLab.com tests. One didn't contain its labeled amounts. One was spoiled. However, none of the products were contaminated with mercury or PCBs— unlike some popular types of fish.

Question: Whats the difference between Omega 3, fish oil 1000 mg and Faxseed? I am using the Omega 3 from Vitamin World for weight loss and they said that its better to use the Flaxseed.
Answer: Fish oil is a great source of Omega 3 Fatty Acids. All fish oil is omega 3 but not all omega 3 is fish oil! There are other sources such as walnuts, soybean, salmon and, of course, flax seed. But flax seed also has Omega 6 and 9's which need to be consumed in much lower quantities. We probably get enough of these in our standard american diets...it's the 3's we're deficient in.
Also, most over the counter versions of fish oil are the same!
All the latest research says that there is no mercury in fish oil tablets so ignore claims that say "wild caught" and "mercury free" are better for you. These are just scams to make you think their product is better and it's not, just more expensive. It's best to buy the concentrated version so that you don't have to take as much and reduces the chances of "fish" taste. Best of luck to you!
Question: Why do I have to store Prenatal Omega 3 suppliments and prenatal multivitamins at room temperature? I am just curious because I have a bottle of omega 3 supplements (prenatal) and they were left out in the car for about 8-9 hours and it was -22 degrees Celsius and it says on the bottle in bold print to store at room temperature on a dark dry place... Is the Omega 3 in the capsules no longer good, like does the DHA and others break down and are no longer useful?
Thanks for the help.
Answer: The answer is that they do not need refrigeration. Heat is worse than cold. Too much heat will actually break down supplements faster than cold will...."store at room temperature" simply means that "no refrigeration is required"...always read the labels because some things do require refrigeration. Also they usually have a "between point"....like store between XX and XX degrees...hope this helps ;) !
Question: Where can I find omega-3 fish oil supplements that are enteric coated and in the "free fatty acid" form? I need this information because my girlfriend's twin sister may have Crohn's disease. And this specific type of omega-3 supplement has been shown to be as effective as the standard treatment of steroids. If we can get it then my girlfriend will take the supplement as a preventative measure as well as her sister.
Answer: I highly recommend you get Antarctic Neptune Krill oil from www.mercola.com. It is the most effective omega 3 supplement available. It is also the most bioavailable, and since it comes with it's own set of powerful antioxidants, you don't have to worry about the product going rancid in the bottle OR inside the body. In addition, it is guaranteed pure and mercury free by a third party certification. Other than Carlson cod liver oil, this is the only omega 3 supplement I recommend. Plant based supplements are too hard for most peoples bodies to convert to active form and they don't contain the powerful antioxidants that krill does. This product cured my dogs arthritis and made my skin feel like silk with just a few days of use. It is great stuff!

Question: Does anybody know of an allergy to omega 3 eggs causing a stomach ache? I have recently been buying the omega 3 eggs in the stores, but about 1/2 hour after I eat them, my stomach is in knots (this doesn't happen with regular eggs). I have been looking around for some information, but everything I can find is saying that omega 3 enriched foods should actually help relieve stomach aches. Are there any known allergies or side effects with omega 3 eggs such as described?
Answer: I'm not sure if the Omega 3 fatty acid in you eggs is coming from fish oil or flax--but if you have a sensitivity to fish oil or fish products, that might be the difficulty.
Have you changed butter or margerine? How are you cooking the eggs? Frying in bacon grease which is very rich, poaching or scrambled? Something is causing your gut to respond in a negative way. Consider going back to the eggs that didn't bother you and get your Omega 3 fatty acids in another way.
Question: How can I get my omega 3's during pregnancy without the fish? I am 6 weeks 3 days pregnant and I am having difficulty eating most things because I have severe 'morning sickness' all day. I know that omega 3 fatty acids are one of the important elements of growth and development. I have looked at a list of foods that are rich in omega 3's...but they are all foods that make me nauseous right now. My doctor's appt. isn't for another week...could I take a fish oil supplement?
Answer: DHA pills!!!!!!!!!!!!! Walmart sells them for about $8. I took these every day I was pregnant and breastfeeding. We can TELL how much our daughter sees things and how observant she is. People are always remarking about how they can't get over how observant she is!
Companies are also putting DHA in formula and baby foods now too.
Question: How good are omega-3 fatty acids for my health? I keep hearing about omega-3 fatty acids and was wondering how good they are for me? what do they help with?
Answer: Omega-3 fatty acids are very important for cardiovascular health and are important parts of a person's diet both during development (in utero as well as childhood), and even maintenance during all stages of life. They used to make up a much larger portions of humans' diet eons ago, but our modern diet has largely replaced them with Omega-6 fatty acids, which , while are also necessary for health, are not a replacement for Omega-3s.
There are many reasons why Omega-3 fatty acids are healthful to consume, from improving the body's lipid profile (cholesterol levels and ratio) as well as proper vision and brain function, and fetal development with pregnant women. The best website for information is The Omega-3 Fatty Acids FAQ at http://www.omega3faq.com
These fatty acids can be found in fish (and fish oil supplements), as well as a number of other sources that you can incorporate into your diet. Some are safer than others, so check out the aforementioned website for more comprehensive answers.
Check it out for more information, it will answer just about any question you have about Omega-3 fatty acids (and tell you about the different ones, such as DHA and EPA).
Question: How many Triple Omega 3,6,9 vitamins should you take in a day? I am a vegetarian and became confused whether if I should take fish or flaxseed oil supplements and then just decided to pick the bottle that contained both. The bottle says to take three daily with a meal, but I was questioning if that was too much? Also the dosages are balanced well. For example, there is much more Omega 3 than there is Omega 6, and Omega 9 has the least dosage. Thanks for the help! Other advice also welcomed!
Answer: People usually take the flaxseed if they are vegetarians, or if the fish oil disagrees with them. The omega 3 fish oil, is superior to the flaxseed.
Omega 3 is the one to take, we get enough omega 6 and 9 in our (unhealthy diet).
Depending on your age, 2 to 4 1000mg capsules per day.
Question: Can I take Omega 3 or other liquid capsules as cabin baggage? Hi everyone,
I'm planning to travel via Tiger Airways from Australia to Singapore. I could only bring cabin baggage only (7kg) and I'd like to bring a box of Omega 3 with me, it's about 100 liquid capsules.
Does anyone know if they allow liquid capsules in cabin baggage?
Answer: It should be fine. Even if they are confiscated you can buy them at any pharmacies. Mustafa Center has many brands that are competitive priced.
Question: Is Omega 3 really that important in pregnancy? I read that I need to consume DHA's or Omega 3's during the final trimester but its only found in foods that I hate, like salmon! Is it really that important? I bought some eggs that have omega 3 in them today even though they were a bit too expensive for my budget, will they do just as well?
Answer: Lucky for us, prenatal vitamins come with most the goods we need for pregnancy (and nursing, after baby comes out). Of course, it's supposed to be support and it's preferrable to get the nutrients from actual food, but like you said.... salmon? Yech.
If you take prenatal vitamins, you should have those holes in your diet filled in. But just in case, there's nothing wrong with getting those eggs. Just once in awhile, since they're $$ and all, but it's better than nothing.
Question: Is moleculary distilled fish oil affects its omega 3 in a bad way? I have read some articles that moleculary distilled fish oil is a bad thing to get your omega 3 from, they say it changes the structure of the oil and the omega 3 so that our body will not benefit from it. Is that true?
and it's best to get omega 3 from Krill Oil, which is very expensive.
Answer: The best way to get Omega 3 is from eating Salmon or getting I think "Smart Balance?" products w/ that in them...like there special peanut butter and mayo ect. Just look around the store and ask. =)
Question: Does Cod Liver Oil and Omega 3 really help prevent the cold and flu virus? Does Cod Liver Oil and Omega 3 really help prevent the cold and flu virus? Or is it just a myth?
Answer: http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig/tucker9.html
go to link for 12 hour flu cure
At last the answer: Cod Liver Oil. It tastes like an old, dead fish that you scooped off a beach. But it’s been used as a medicine for centuries. It’s loaded with vitamins A and D in some special combination that has some wham-bam effect on the system. The experts say it has something called Omega 3 fatty acids which do something to zap away other kinds of infecting bad stuff.
