Overdose
Question: Overdose?? this goes out to ravers or anybody who has seen a person overdose, i dont wanna see one but i want to become a film director, and i think an overdose would be good in a movie...so if anybody has seen one can u please describe it to me...i know its a weird question, but id rather hear about it then experience one...thanks
Answer: I will say it is not a happy experience. Words are hard to portray the events...however I have to say that one movie that pops into my mind would be Pulp Fiction. Uma Thurman did a really good job.
I hope that if you do put it in a movie that you look at ways not to portray it as a positive thing. Great lighting and shadows would work great. Fading in and out of darkness are things that I can remember.
Question: OVERDOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? What could happen if you took 30 200mg ibuprofen? and you had a bleeding ulcer
Answer: come on now....since ibuprofen is a blood thinner and you already have a bleeding ulcer...you do the math!! you will defiently bleed internally to death not to mention that much medicine will put you unconscience.....

i hate life :'(
Answer: What is the dose? Such as, how many pills were you told to take by your doctor and what size (how many mg per pill) are the tablets?
Question: What happens when you overdose on sleeping pills? What happens physically to your body functions when you overdose on sleeping pills? Do users who overdose typically get induced in a a coma? And if they are caught and after their stomach is pumped what is the side effecst?
I have a friend who claimed that he/she overdosed on sleeping pills. So I am trying to see if your story is accurate by getting as much info as I can. Thanks.
Please pray for my friend.
I will pick Best Answer probably tonight! But if not, tomorrow for sure!
Answer: It all depends on which drug was involved. If it was an OTC sleeping medication, it is the same ingredient seen in the allergy medication Benadryl (diphenhydramine). They can actually be more harmful that the newer prescription drugs in overdose.
Most prescription sleeping aids used today are in the benzodiazepine family. In the past opiates and barbiturates were used. Of course, they are addicting as well as extremely dangerous, especially in overdose.
Benzos (BZD) are also used for other conditions and their use it based on their pharmacology. The most common benzos are Valium, Librium and Xanax. They are used primarily for anxiety. The BZD sleeping meds include: Dalmane (flurazepam), Restoril (temazepam) and Halcion (triazolam). Although safe in overdose, they too are addicting and the FDA recommends they be used no longer than 10 days in a row.
There's a newer class of nonbenzodiaepines. Unofficially I've heard them called "Z" sleeping pills. The most common is Ambien (zolpidem). Ambien in overdose is treated the same as BZDs. The newest medication for sleep is Rozerem (ramelteon). It works on the same receptors in the brain as the OTC supplement melatonin. It is supposed to be non-addicting, but once it's used by thousands of people we'll know for certain if that's true.
About overdosing. More than likely your friend took a benzo. Death rarely occurs, unless mixed with other meds or alcohol. Stomach pumping (gastic lavage) and activated charcoal would most likely be used. There is an "antidote" for BZD overdose called flumazenil, it is often used and it counteracts BZDs rather quickly. After that treatment is "supportive." Meaning they'll "sleep it off" under hospital supervision. A drug-induced coma certainly could occur.
Fortunately, today's sleeping pills are extremely safe when it comes to people trying to use them to commit suicide. But they'll sleep, sleep, sleep until they wear off.
I will pray and I hope this helps. And thanks for asking for my help. I took an oath to help people and Yahoo Answers is another venue besides the drugstore to make that happen.

Question: What happens if you overdose and refuse to drink their nasty charcoal ? What exactly happens if you overdose and sadly get brought to th ehospital and have to drink their charcoal. Since it's an overdose, I highly doubt they would give someone an injection to knock them out, and they can't make you drink it. So even if they restrain you, they probably want to keep you awake because of the OD.. so yeah, what happens if you refuse to drink the charcoal ?
Answer: They won't give you an injection because they need to keep you awake after an overdose. But they will physically restrain you. Not tie you down, but more like hold you down.. I have overdosed in the past.. And they wanted me to drink the charcoal and I flat out refused. And there were countless people around me, holding my legs, arms, head.. Every single body part so that I couldn't move.
After that, they put a tube down your nose that goes into your stomach. It is a very uncomfortable feeling, and it actually hurts. It was no fun. So no, you don't have to drink it but if you don't.. you'll get a tube put down your nose.

Question: How long after a tylenol AND an aspirin overdose would it have to be not to show up on a bloodtest? Also, how long until a biospy (if it damaged the liver as in liver failure) could be done and not know it was a drug overdose?
I'm not planning on overdosing, this is for a report for school.
Thanks
Answer: What is your fascination with aspirin and tylenol overdoses? You've been on this topic for over a month.
Question: How much of an albuterol inhaler would you have to inhale to overdose? I know overdosing on it can be fatal, so how much is an overdose? And could I die if i overdose a smalll amount?
Answer: Overdosing on albuterol, whether it be a small amount or a large amount can be fatal. If you take more albuterol than your doctor has prescribed (usually 2 puffs every 4-6 hours as needed), you are overdosing on your albuterol.
Question: What happens when you overdose and lose consciousness ? How can an overdose lead to losing consciousness. And when yo ulose consciousness, are you near death or just passed out for a little while. And when someone is in a coma, is that near death or it's just a deep sleep. Any info would be appreciated.
What do EMT's do if they arrive on a scene where someone overdosed and they're unconscious ?
Answer: First off, it depends on what you 'overdose' on and how severe the 'overdose' is. Any substance that can become 'toxic' can lead to DEATH in an overdose situation. Such as - opiate pain killers, cocaine, alcohol, Xanax, etc. The level that leads to an 'overdose' depends on the substance involved.
When consciousness is lost it 'could' be a prelude to death depending on the substance and amount involved. If you 'black out' from drinking too much alcohol, you will probably live and wake up with a hang over as long as the total amount consumed does not lead to respiratory failure in which case death will occur.
Passing out from drinking or other drug use is not an overdose, it may just mean you are really tired and will wake up later.
A coma is when you will not 'wake up' and the severity depends on if you can breathe on your own.
EMT's will first determine what is going on. For instance if one is not breathing or heart beating they will take appropriate measures to correct that. They will NEED to know what the person took so that they can administer medication if necessary. For instance, an opiate pain killer overdose may require an epinephrine injection. It depends on the drug taken and how bad the overdose is.
People can die from overdosing on many things, including OTC meds like tylenol, in fact its that is common.
Question: How much marijuana does it take to overdose? I just read an email that my grandma sent me about crystal meth being made into something that looks like pop rocks and is called strawberry quick. I used to smoke marijuana in high school and have NEVER heard of anyone actually overdosing on it. If anyone ever did overdose on it, how much did it take? Is it possible to overdose on it?
Answer: It is impossible to overdose on Marijuana.
Do your own research and you will find there are 0 deaths linked to marijuana ever, you can't find one. The only way they have found you could die from it is if you smoke about 20,000 joints in 20 minutes, and that would be because you will lack oxygen, not because of the marijuana.

What do EMT's do if they arrive on a scene where someone overdosed and they're unconscious ?
Answer: (Q). How can an overdose lead to losing consciousness. And when yo ulose consciousness, are you near death or just passed out for a little while.
(A). It depends on what drug it is, many are different as many of them are designed to make you lose consciousness as they are strengthened in order to cause that effect.
(Q). And when someone is in a coma, is that near death or it's just a deep sleep.
(A). A coma is, rather than a deep sleep, a state of consciousness that is very deep and very long lasting (usually). This will often lead to injury, disease or even death.
(Q). What do EMT's do if they arrive on a scene where someone overdosed and they're unconscious ?
(A). Once again this depends on the drug. Alcohol for instance usually induces a lesser state of unconsciousness as it's a very typical side effect of alcohol. Something like Cocaine induces a much more dangerous state of unconsciousness as it can also bring along fits and seizures etc. so the responses change.
In order to find out, simply search in google - ' overdose unconsciousness EMT procedure'.
Fill in with the type of drug you'd like to find out about, this shouldhelp you find out more.
Hope I helped!
Question: How can you tell if a drug overdose is an accident or suicide? Somebody I know died of a drug overdose from cocaine, morphine, and xanax. It was ruled accidental. How do they know it was not a suicide? The amounts are as follows 0.10 mg/L of alprazolam (xanax), 0.43 mg/L of cocaine, and 0.025 mg/L morphine in the blood. And in the urine was more than 2.0 mg/L of morphine. He also had marijuanna, but it did not contribute to his death.
Answer: try to look for something with these three ingredients, if you found one in his house, then it can be either of the two.. if not, it's most probably suicide. [i don't think a person will die accidentally because of three different substances if it's not combined in one mixture.]

Question: What kinds of pills can you take to overdose? I've decided to end my life. It's the ending point for me and I want to know what different kinds of pills I can take that will case an overdose. This is a completely serious questions, really no matter what you say to try to keep me here, it won't work. I've made my decision.
Answer: you sound a lot like me. a couple months ago. i know it seems hopeless. trust me, i know how you feel. i'm not gonna tell you what to overdose on. because although i don't even know you, i don't want you to end your life. things would get better, although you probably wouldn't realize it. because you're in a vulnerable state. obviously. but since nothing i say will keep you here, goodbye? and believe it or not, you'll be missed by many people who care about you.
Question: How many miligrams of ibuprofenwould you have to take before an overdose would happen? I'm doing a paper on overdosing. But I can't find anywhere approximately how many miligrams or pills someone would have to take to overdose. Can anyone help me?
Answer: not sure if there is an overdose amount but you arent supposed to take more than 3200 milligrams per 24 hours. at least thats what my nurse friend has said. he also told me that there is a life time amount that you can take but its in the kg level and after that it can lead to a toxic liver function.
