Answer: Papaya Bruschetta
"I love making this as an appetizer if we're planning on having a heavy dinner - it's a light healthful treat made with papaya, tomato and red pepper in a lovely papaya seed dressing. Awesome with pieces of fresh baguette, crackers or tortilla chips."
INGREDIENTS:
1 papaya
5 roma (plum) tomatoes, diced
1/2 red onion, diced
1 red bell pepper, seeded and diced
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
2 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
2 green onions, chopped
1 French baguette, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
DIRECTIONS:
Cut papaya in half and remove seeds. Reserve 2 tablespoons of seeds for the dressing. Peel and dice the papaya, and place in a medium bowl. Add tomatoes, red onion, red pepper and basil, and set aside.
In a food processor or blender, combine the papaya seeds, sugar, wine vinegar, oil, mustard and green onions. Process until smooth and thick, and most of the seeds have broken up. Pour over the papaya mixture and stir to coat all of the ingredients.

Question: How to I transplant a Papaya tree from a pot to the ground? Also, I need to bring the potted 5 foot high tree from my friends house to my house and it's a little heavy. Can we take the papaya tree out of the pot at his house, bring it over to mine with just the tree and roots and plant it in the ground or is this risky?
Answer: Best to get help and move it in the pot - to reduce stress on the roots.
Papaya grow in rich sandy soil, so you need a mix of sand, composted manure and regular tree planting mix or even garden soil mix. Keep it moist bu t not wet. When you pull the tree out of the pot, gently rub your hands around the root ball and loosen some of the root tips so they can grow faster. If the roots are wound around in a hard ball you will have to take a clean razor and slice the root ball straight down the sides in 3 - 5 places (don't go too deep, just and inch or so) this won't kill it, it will actually help the roots recover. Plant in a hole about 6 inches wider and deeper than the roots ball, water it as often as you need to (scrape back the dirt on top , if its dark and moist half and inch or so down, don't water it.

Question: Will Chewable Papaya Enzyme tablets used for digestive purposes make birth control ineffective? My girlfriend is on birth control and I've read that some antibiotics or medications might make birth control ineffective. If she takes 4 of these papaya enzyme tablets for digestive reasons every day, will this make her birth control ineffective?

Question: As a substitute in a recipe, can I use jicama in place of green papaya? I wanted to make Vietnamese papaya salad but my grocery store does not always have papaya. Can I use jicama in place of green papaya?
Answer: I think it really depends on what you're looking for... as far as taste is concerned the only thing I can think that would change it is that jicama is more starchy than papaya, however, it would definitely give the salad a better texture in my opinion. All things considered, it should work out fine.
