Pms Relief
Question: Dong Quai as a PMS relief aid? I am wondering how to use Dong Quai extract to achieve maximum results for relief of PMS symptoms. I have an extremely heavy flow, and lots of pain associated with my period. Should I only take it during the time when I experience symptoms? Or should I be taking it all the time? Also, is it safe to use with a heavy flow?
Any addition information would be great.
Thanks!
Answer: It would probably be most beneficial to take it daily until you see some easing of your symptoms, which may take a couple of months. Nutritional supplements don't act the same way as a chemical drug - we're accustomed to taking 2 aspirin and having relief in 30 minutes. With supplements, you have to give it enough time in your body for changes to begin.
Dong quai is an excellent supplement for female distress, but it may work even better if you add raspberry leaf to your daily regimen. Raspberry leaf helps to calm and soothe the entire female reproductive system, is safe, and inexpensive. Another good one is black cohosh (not BLUE cohosh) - any combination including these are good and yes, they are all safe to use all the time.
Something you might want to look into is valerian root. It has a mild sedative quality and it may help reduce any cramping or spasms that you have during your period. Use it before bed to relax and get a good night's sleep. This one works more quickly than the others. Don't drive on this until you know how it will effect you.
Hope this helps.
Question: Any recommendations for natural PMS relief? For the past couple of month I have experienced some pretty bad PMS symptoms. I'm tired, bloated, and especially irritable. I can't take birth control because I'm trying to conceive (although Yaz worked wonders for me). I'm hoping someone can recommend something natural they have tried that works. I don't care so much about being bloated, I just don't want to be an irritable wreck anymore.
Answer: exercise, eat healthy, and take a long hot bath or shower. Also, write in your journal to releave stress
Question: Has anyone used acupuncture for PMS relief? I was wondering if anyone had tried acupuncture for relieving some of the symptoms of PMS? I get extremely emotional the day before my period.
Answer: Yap, i have seen cases of sucessful treatments. you can also buy dried rose buds from chinese herb shops (not those essential oils etc, where they have added chemicals), when you get emotional just crush 4 rose buds and put in a mug, adding hot water and just drink it like a normal tea. it's tasty and it helps.
Question: Anybody know the name of the prescription to help with relief of PMS symptoms?
Answer: For cramping there is Annaprox. For the moodiness associated with PMS there is an array of RX drugs from Vallium, Xanax, to Prozac in dire cases. You need to check with your MD to see which option is right for you. Hang in there girl, countless of us suffer from PMS...Pretty Mean Sister. Hugs!
Question: Anyone know of PMS relief that really worked for them? I suffer from horrible mood swings and anxiety and weight gain 9 days before my cycle begins up till a couple days into my cycle. I have tried evening primrose oil and estroven, estroven made me feel very weird. Primrose oil did nothing. I eat right and work out as well. I am not down with taking an antidepressant, does anyone know of something that actually does work?
Answer: Have you tried using all-natural progesterone? I use it 2 weeks a month and the only PMS symptom I feel is nervousness (but I feel that often anyway.) And for maybe 1 day I feel grumpy, but that's about it.
You can get the progesterone at most good drug stores like Walgreens. They make it specially for PMS

Question: PMS Relief Needed...? Help! My wife suffers from severe PMS irritability/depression/anxiety/ANGER.
Is there anything I can do to make this monthly thing go smoothly.
Please Please Please give me some advice.
Answer: I think it's so sweet that you are even trying to get help! Okay, try to be as supportive as you can, but when you reach a breaking point, run. Tell her that perhaps she could use some 'alone time,' and see if there's anything she'd like in your absence. If she's the clingy type, just hang in there, it's only once a month.
Focus on how much you love her ;-P !!!

Question: For ladies- any suggestions for relief from PMS? I get so irritable the week before.?
Answer: actually in pshycology we studied this.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS PMS. period.
sorry but its true.
you have applied this thought of "PMS" to any emotion you have the week before. i'm not saying it's your fault. you can look up on the intnernet "psychological studies on PMS" and i am sure you will find the study that PROVES there is no such thing.
there is one major reason that PMS is still heard about today, even though it's been proved wrong.
have you ever heard that light bulb manufacturers know how to make light bulbs, so that they last 10 times longer?
the reason they dont is the same reason they keep playing up PMS.
SALES. the public buys more lightbulbs when they burn out.
the public buys PMS medicine if they think there's such a thing.
sorry. but 100% completely true!

Answer: Hi There,
There are a wide variety of treatments and lifestyle changes that can alleviate and manage the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome. These include:
Over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen, aspirin or naproxen Prescription medicines such as oral contraceptives, antidepressants or beta-blockers
While these treatments can be beneficial, these medications are strong, and may have side effects. Some may also be addictive.
Natural and holistic treatments can be very effective in treating the physical and emotional symptoms of premenstrual syndrome and providing relief. Natural remedies have been used traditionally for many years to combat PMS symptoms and restore hormonal balance. These treatments usually work best in combination with a health program that is tailored to the individual’s needs.
Herbal and homeopathic remedies are completely safe, and non addictive – without the side effects of prescription drugs. These remedies contain ingredients such as Fennel, Pulsatilla and Melissa which help to naturally reduce the effects of premenstrual syndrome and support health. Don Quai is also a very effective Chinese herb which helps to restore hormonal balance and promote female reproductive health – thereby reducing the occurrence of pre-menstrual symptoms.
Check this hugely popular natural remedy for PMS http://www.healthherbsandnutrition.com/products/femalite.htm that takes care of your PMS symptoms naturally and effectively. Another remedy http://www.healthherbsandnutrition.com/products/dongquai.htm if taken along with this may help you out in taking care of all symptoms related to female reproductive system disorders, so they claim.
Lifestyle changes can go a long way to improving the symptoms of PMS. These include eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly and getting enough sleep. Acupuncture and Chiropractic therapy can also be effective in lessening the troublesome symptoms of PMS.
Good Luck!
