Answer: Look up "pneumoconioses" for unusual respiratory conditions. Yes asthma is a local pulmonary condition. Receptors within the lung over respond to allergens. In other words it is hyper reactive airway condition.Yes. there are other types of asthma but by far the most common is the allergic type. There are parasitical and fungal conditions which are as fascinating as they are deadly. Look under the different types of pneumonia. Fibrosis from immunological conditions are interesting too. Cystic Fibrosis There is also persistant pulmonary hypertension, but that's probably more of a cardiac issue. Maybe even bronchiectasis, you may want to check that one out too.
