Right Nutrients
Question: Making sure I am getting the right nutrients? Over the summer my hours were switched so I am now working 2pm-10pm. Before I was pregnant I had a hard time trying to figure out what to bring for dinners, but now that I am pregnant I want to make sure I am getting the right nutrients. Does anyone have any ideas of what sort of food I can bring for dinners at night? I appreciate any input I can get.
Thanks! :o)
Answer: well, if it were me I would start having a bigger meal during the day and then taking a light meal like a sandwhich for dinner.
But if you were wanting to take your dinner to work you could make the likes od chicken or meat pasta dishes that can be taken in one bowl and heated easily and safely. You could add all your veggies etc to it too. Theres heaps of ideas for one bowl dinners..pasta and chicken, spaghetti bolognese, meat or chicken and rice stir fry, noodle stir fry. So you could try and keep them low fat too.
Question: Atheists - how were fruits, vegetables, etc. made on the earth to perfectly supply us with the right nutrients? As far as I know, seems too perfect for vegetables and fruits to have been put on the earth to give us all the supplies we need to be healthy. But there could be something I'm not getting, so I ask.
Answer: Oh, sweetie...
Okay, I will try to clarify it for you.
Fruit exists to supply seeds with a good place to start. Initially, the nutrients in the fruit were for the seed. But soon, animals started to eat the fruits. Eventually, they pooped out the seeds (or not... but the plants with digestible seeds either died out, or developed other means than fruit). The poop A) provided a good start for the plant and B) frequently, the seedling ended up quite a ways from the mother plant, so the plant got spread out quicker.
The better the fruit, the better the animal that ate it did. There was no planning involved. If a mutation occurred in the plant that caused its fruit to taste better or be more nutritious, it would automatically have more offspring.
As for vegetables... no. Our ancestors simply subsided on the plants they found good to eat. When agriculture entered the equation, things accelerated at a geometric rate: suddenly, plants that were good to eat did millions of times better than others.
Question: Is it possible to get taller from eating right, nutrients, vitamins etc. and stretching excersises?
Answer: i think stretching really helps. because my son is always stretching and now hes taller than his brother they're a year apart. my son always walks on his toes. o ya and he loves meat. thats all he ever eats no vegetables. but it depends how old are you? i think guys stop growing at 25 and girls at 20 or something like that/
Question: Right nutrients for vegetarians? I'm a vegetarian, and my concerned with getting the right nutrients.
I cant shallow pills whole (I have been trying for years) so I have to get them somewhere else.
Any suggestions?
Answer: total cereal. serve with silk soy milk enhanced with DHA. can't get much easier than that.
Question: If i feed my dog home made food how do i ensure he gets the right nutrients? vitamins? is there a mix i can buy and add to the home made food???
Answer: my little girl is on a home cooked diet. for a vitamin and mineral supplement we give her 1/2 of a regular centrum tablet as recommended by her vet. depending on how much your dog weighs would depend on how many centrum tablets to give. to be on the safe side, consult with your vet.
Question: Vitamins are the same as nutrients right? then where can I get the best tablets that aren't really expensive that will supply nutrients to my body :) thx!
Answer: Vitamin is an example of nutrients. Others are carbohydrates, proteins, lipids and minerals.Natural foods including fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins.
You can get a gun shot therapy with MULTIVITAMINS, cheap and available in pharmacy stores.
Question: im 16 weeks pregnant and i dont get any of the right nutrients im always sick am i harming my baby? im always craving cereal so thats what i eat if i eat any real food i throw it up and feel really sick all day i get bad headaches i havent put on any weight cause im always sick and throwing everything up what should i do?
Answer: The baby should be okay for now. It sounds like you have hyperemesis gravidarum. If you have trouble taking prenatal vitamins, try taking 2 flintstones vitamins daily. That's what my midwife suggested because the iron in prenatal vitamins can make your morning sickness worse. I suffered from horrible morning sickness and lived off of yogurt, cereal, and gatorade for the first trimester into the beginning of my second. Both baby and I are perfectly healthy.
Definitely speak to your doctor about this though. I was prescribed Zofran which helped me a lot. I still couldn't eat real food but it minimized the number of times I'd run to the toilet to vomit. The first drug they prescribed me was Phenergan which only worked the first time I used it and made me incredibly drowsy. Ask about Zofran, it should help.
Question: What foods (for lacto-ovo vegetarians) could I consume to get the right amount of nutrients i need? Are there certain vegetables? Dairy products?
I don't really want to take a pill to balance out everything though...
Answer: Just eat a variety of things & you should be fine. You don't need to eat things in a particular way to make a complete protein. That's an outdated idea, & if you make sure to eat stuff like greens & a variety of whole grains, you should be healthy w/ a great assortment of tasty foods. That being said, if you're concerned about it, ask your doctor about vitamins. A daily multivitamin is a good idea.
Question: What is the right combination of nutrients for a hydroponic indoor gardening?
Answer: I found this info on a hydroponic gardening web site that sells products and it says:
Making your own nutrients does not have to be as difficult as you may think. The following is a list of the essential elements required to increase plant growth.
# 1 CaNO3 Calcium Nitrate
# 2 K2SO4 Potassium Sulphate
# 3 KNO3 Potassium Nitrate
#4 KH2PO4 Mono Potassium Phosphate
#5 MgSO4 Magnesium Sulphate
#6 TE Trace elements
There is more info at the website.
Question: Im 21, will taking kids Vitamins give me the right amount of nutrients ? i really like the chewable tablets for vitamins..and wasnt sure if it was good enough for me?
Answer: I would absolutely have to say no. I know that some people don't like taking "regular" vitamins, but as an adult it is very important that you give your body the nutrients it really needs so that you can be better functioning in the future. I really don't believe that any of the vitamins that can be bought at your local pharmaceutical store are good enough. Near where I live we have an alternative medicinary where we can purchase encapsulated Vital Nutrients-- depending on your needs these may or may not be right for you. If you can find a naturopath (ND) in your area they will be able to better direct you. Either way, there are much better vitamins out there for you!
If you need any additional information I am a student at a naturopathic medical school and would be more than happy to help you with any resources you need or questions you have. Good luck!
Question: What do i need to eat to get th right nutrients for a body building diet.?
Answer: lots of protein, water, and veggies!
Question: "Hydro-Marijuana"? what nutrients how to grow it right whats evry step for it to be succesful? is it possible to grow "Hydro-Weed"? Like Just Putting i in a bottle of water and let it sit out n sun for a while cuz thats what a "Pot Dealer" friend of mynes told me n he swore up n own u can?
where do u get the nutrients from n what are the nutrients for it?
Answer: the dealer is right BUT the way he's describing it to you is wrong. basically there is a way to grow any plant that is not the typical dirt and sun way that we've known for thousands of years. it's called HYDROPONICS. growing anything is always a bit more complicated than it seems but it's not hard to do it.
think of the plant in 2 zones - above ground and below ground. what's happening above ground is the plant itself is taking in carbon dioxide and sunlight. below the ground plants are taking in nutrients and oxygen.
in hydroponics, everything that is different is happening below ground. above ground, nothing is necessarily changing. so we know in dirt, plants get their nutrients from the earth. the key here is the WAY a plant gets those nutrients - water. water helps bring those nutrients to the plants. but an important thing is that dirt provides an anchor for the roots so the plant can grow above ground. also, the roots breath oxygen in the ground.
so think of it like this.. if you have dry earth, then water isn't helping bring nutrients to the roots because it's dry. at the same time, the roots need to breath as well so the earth can not be TOO wet. so if it's too dry, the plant can't eat, dies of starvation. if it's too wet, the plant can't breath, dies from suffocation. but it's more complicated. the plant can absorb oxygen from the water.. more on this in a min.
so back to hydro. how does one achieve growth in a plant in which the roots are NOT anchored in nutrient-rich dirt and spend 100% of their time in water?
1) the water has to be infused with the nutrients (or food) the plants need!
2) the water has to be infused with enough oxygen to allow the plant to breath as well.
3) the plant needs something for it's roots to anchor the plant so that it can grow upwards instead of falling down
and while all of this is happening...
4) the plant needs to receive appropriate light
5) the plant needs to have carbon dioxide to breath at the top
so here's how all of this is achieved...
1) Nutrients - you can buy this online or from any gardening shop that has a decent hydroponic section. the "nutes" are mixed into the water so as the roots sit in the water, they can feed.
2) Air pumps - you use an air pump to infuse the water with air.
3) Medium - you can use something like hydroton which are expanded clay balls that the roots will use to help anchor itself in "planter" that you are using.
4) Lighting - there are special lights you can use that will imitate the sun, not completely, but enough for the plant to use
5) Air - this is simple, the air surrounding the plant will provide enough carbon dioxide.
This all seems simple enough. Why does it get complicated?
1) Nutrients have to mixed to a certain solution.. too much or too little and you risk underfeeding or overfeeding the plant which can kill it. there is an allowable margin of error but it's not that big so don't mess it up.
2) You have to use the right set up which includes the air pump, air hose, and air stones. too much air isn't a bad thing. but it's easy to not have enough air as well.
3) There are a lot of different medium you can use. Hydroton is only one type. you will have to find what may suit your specific set up.
4) keep in mind you have to use SPECIAL lighting.. your typical plant won't care for the regular bulb stuff. these lights can be expensive.
5) depending on how advanced you are, you may want to introduce more carbon dioxide. this doesn't mean you should breath more often. this means you may want to invest in something that provides you wil more carbon dioxide.
getting all of these things right or wrong depends on the plant and the conditions you give it. you can grow beautiful plants if you do it all right. or you can kill plants before they even get a chance to get started.
AND LASTLY.. #6
other variables.. insects, bacteria, temperature, air flow, fungus, etc etc etc.. all of these things will affect your plant.
so to answer your question.. NO. a plant can't be grown simply in a bottle of water. and as for the nutrients to grow any plant - gardening shop. even home depot if they have a gardening section will have nutrients for hydroponics. go online and look that up. there are a lot of different companies to choose from.
Question: I don't like meat.. what can I eat/do to make sure I'm still getting the right nutrients? Thanks :)
Answer: Eat a good variety of fruits, veggies, grains, beans, and nuts, and you should be fine.
Question: is it possible to eat the right nutrients, so your body uses all of what is ingested making you not poop?
Answer: That is like asking if you can build a wood fire and not have ash at the end.
Feces is the end result of digestion, and is the body's way of getting rid of waste materials left over from the digestive process.
Question: Norwalk Virus left me with 2 teeth missing 5 stiches what can I eat with a straw ensuring all proper nutrients Collapsing from Norwalk virus resulted in loosing two teeth and gaining 5 stitches in bottom lip right on Christmas Day. Only eating soup with a straw and Gatorade. Is this enough to ensure I getting all the right nutrients.
Answer: That's terrible! I'm so sorry!
Coincidental you used the word "ensure", because that is just what I am going to recommend. Drink three cans of Ensure or similar dietary supplement a day (assuming your medical conditions allow it, not allergic, not diabetic, etc). This is what we gave to everyone who's mouth was wired shut when I was a dental resident. If your doctor gave you any recommendations, definitely follow those, or if you have any doubts/uncertainties about my answer, ask your doctor for advice.
It's been 4 days now? Things should be close to healed. If you can comfortably eat some normal things, that would be good too. Just rinse with warm salt water after eating (1 tsp salt, 1 cup warm water).
I hope you get better soon. Take care.
Question: I'm pregnant and I'm worried that I'm not getting the right nutrients for the baby.? Are there any foods that I should be eating more/less of and what are some things that I should avoid during this time.
Answer: Eat lots of fruit and vegetables, especially green vegetables. Are you taking a prenatal vitamin? If not, you should start. You need lots of calcium and folic acid to help the baby grow.
Things to avoid:
- Lunch meat (listeria)
- Raw fish (salmonella)
- Fish high in mercury
- Soft cheese
- Green tea (it blocks folic acid)
Good luck!
