Royal Jelly
Question: What Dose of Royal Jelly Capsules should I take daily to improve my fertility? Me and SO are starting the IVF process after a failed IUI and many years ttc. I've heard that royal jelly and bee pollen and really good in improving fertility and great nutrients for the body to prepare for pregnancy. What dose should I get and what daily dose should I take?
Answer: You've done your research! The brand I take is Y.S. Organic Bee Farms' Fresh Royal Jelly capsules. One capsule has 2,000 mgs and I take one per day. I found mine at Whole Foods. I also take 8 mgs of wheat grass daily. It is supposed to alkalize your body providing a hospitable environment for the embryos.
Edit: Funny Evil Twin. My only pregnancy via IVF was when I was taking royal jelly. After 3 failed cycles I was willing to try it. My embryo quality went from poor to "beautiful." It's a natural antibiotic, contains 16 vitamins, including B complex, 16 minerals, 18 enzymes, 22 amino acids. Yes. If you're allergic to bees don't take it. Duh. And "there’s no real evidence that those properties translate into practical, real-life use" doesn't mean it doesn't have antibiotic properties, it just means it hasn't been tested. “Perhaps the most valid criticism of royal jelly isn’t with the product itself” is the one sentence in that whole article that should hold the most weight. I don't believe it to be a cure-all and most thinking people would not either but if you have not done your research on its benefits in conjunction with IVF or fertility treatments do not bash it because of one dumb blog.
CD~Check out the book Infertility Cure by Dr. Randine Lewis. It describes several studies that detail why royal jelly is beneficial to fertility.
Good luck on your cycle!
Question: Can I take Royal Jelly at the same time with tablets to control hypothyroidism and high prolactin? I am trying for a baby but i got hypothyroidism and high prolactin. I am taking Parlodel and Euthyron 50 to balance my hormones and additionally I am taking Royal Jelly but I am afraid that Royal Jelly may slow down the effect of the medicine.
Answer: Royal Jelly is basically just honey, specifically from the queen bee.
I don't have any information about drugs at all, but I don't think most prescriptions have problems with honey or increased energy. A Pharmacist can verify that for sure, but I personally doubt you would have any problem with that.
Question: What does royal jelly do for your health? Ive heard so much about Royal Jelly, and I know its supposed to be really good for you, but what exactly does it help? Is it the heart, blood pressure, immune system, skin, etc?
Answer: Royal jelly is a milky-white, gelatinous substance secreted by the salivary glands of worker bees to stimulate growth and development of queen bees.
Highly touted royal jelly, fed to the debutante larvae that grow into queen bees, contains a powerful antibacterial protein that Japanese researchers discovered and named royalisin. Rich in amino acids, royalisin is primarily effective against "Gram-positive" bacteria, which include staph and strep species.
Like propolis, royal jelly also appears to have anti-tumor properties. Another team of Japanese researchers gave royal jelly to one of two groups of laboratory mice before transplanting different types of cancer cells in them. The royal jelly had no effect on the leukemia cells, but it had dramatic effects on sarcoma cells.
Royal jelly, however, has not lived up to expectations that it is an important anti-aging substance. But it is not without medical interest. Royal jelly consists of an emulsion of proteins, sugars, lipids and some other substances in a water base. Proteins make up about 13% of royal jelly. Most of the proteins comprise a family called major royal jelly proteins. One protein in royal jelly called royalsin possesses antibiotic properties against gram-positive, but not gram-negative, bacteria. About 11% of royal jelly is made up of sugars, such as fructose and glucose, similar to those found in honey. Lipids comprise about 5% of the substance and consist mainly of medium-chain hydroxy fatty acids, such as trans-10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid, which is also thought to possess antimicrobial properties.
Although some of the elements found in royal jelly are in microgram quantities, they still can act supremely with co-enzymes as catalysts or can act synergistically. (That is, the elements' action combined is greater than the sum of their actions taken separately.) Royal jelly is rich in protein, vitamins B-1, B-2, B-6, C, E, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, inositol and folic acid. In fact, it contains seventeen times as much pantothenic acid as that found in dry pollen.
People who are allergic to bees and honey, and those who have asthma, can face real dangers if they take royal jelly. Reactions ranging from bronchial spasms, skin irritations, and asthma attacks, to more severe anaphylactic shock, and even death, have been reported from its ingestion. As with many supplements, pregnant and lactating women and small children need to refrain from using royal jelly. To be on the safe side, anyone with a compromised immune system also needs to beware.
Royal jelly researches have found benefitial effects as mentioned above, and some possible side effects including royal jelly-induced allergies and respiratory symptoms such as asthma.
