Smart Dieting
Question: Smart Dieting HAve to lose 22lbs? I would like to lose 22 lbs in 8weeks Dieting and exercising. I dont need to take pills. Anyone have any good suggestions?
Answer: The quickest way is to cut out red meats, starches, breads, sugars, alcohol, and sodas.
Eat veggies (salads are good), soups, and drink TONS of water. If you get hungry between a meal, drink water to fill up.
In moderation eat white meats, and fruits (fruits contain natural sugars, and that can put on weight)
Practice portion control. Yes, you'll feel hungry at first, but think of your goal, and soon your stomach will start shrinking and you won't have that feeling anymore.
Eat 5 times a day. A small breakfast. A mid-morning snack, such as an apple. A small lunch. A mid-afternoon snack, such as carrots. A lite dinner. Do not eat any later than 7pm (6pm is better.)
Go exercise for at least an hour - two a day, incorporating weight training along with your cardio. Cardio helps to melt the fat, while weight training builds muscle. Muscle burns fat, even when you are resting. You get the idea. It also gives tone and definition. Also do a few yoga and pilates exercises to help tone those hard to reach and stubborn areas
Question: Is Kiwi a smart choice when dieting? Also, which other fruits are good? (I know to stay away from mangoes and papayas)
Answer: Dear berries are the best. They will give you good shape and good memory :)
However, any fruit will never do harm. Every single fruit is effective on giving you healthy/slim body.
Kiwi is fine don't worry.
About papaya, it can give you the fastest result actually. However be careful because it causes diarrhea when over taken. It is good because it helps in vowel movement, giving you good tummy. Again be careful and make sure you're home is you take it.
Also, include exercise. Do swimming perhaps.
Oh one more thing, if you can hardly say no to meat. dont worry. Cook as you always do, remove the meat and put some toasted tofu. You have the taste and nutrients from the meat without taking it :)

Question: Is there any smart diet for runners who want to lose weight? I am a runner and I am trying to lose a few pounds. When I diet, I am more tired and my running is not high-quality. Is there any diet that can help me lose weight but still give me energy to run? How many minutes before a run should I eat a meal for optimum energy during the run? Thanks.
Answer: Ahhh i have the same problem. I found out that if you eat a lot of complex carbs such as pasta, macaroni, etc then you will have A LOT more energy. I also started drinking protein shakes(whey) and they give me a lot more energy than before but im also trying to build muscle so it might not be the best for losing weight, but so far ive lost 4 lbs in 2 weeks so its not all bad, plus it builds muscle in your legs..

Question: Why do many parents do so many things to have smart kids? I've heard of practices like sitting your kids in front of the tv to watch BabyEinstein etc. Why are parent's doing so much to have a smart kid? Back in the day, healthy diets were all parents were concerned with during pregnancy...now you have to play them Mozart. Any ideas?
Answer: Well if you're going to sit your kid in front of the TV anyways, theres no harm in putting in a baby einstein dvd.
Corporations are now capitalizing on parents who want the best for their kids with minimal effort. You don't have to read to your kid, take them to the zoo, or try showing them basic arithmetic anymore. You can just let them watch a dvd.
Question: Did eating meat make us smart and if we gave chimpanzees more meat would they get smart? It is thought that humans only got as smart as they are by eating meat, and that even chimpanzees eat meat such as baby animals do you think is we fed chimpanzees a more meat based diet they would get smart? i'm not saying that eating a plant based diet now would make you stupid because are ancestors already ate meat.
Chimpanzees do eat baby animals and insects go look it up
Answer: The only thing that would make sense from an evolutionary standpoint is that eating meat would provide more energy and reduce time spent eating and foraging than a plant based diet. Meat is assimilated easier into the body than plant material, and it has a higher calorie density. Having more energy available would allow for more to be put into the development of the brain over time. A more developed brain takes more energy to maintain, and that would act as a determent if an organism is in the wild and needs to be efficient in energy expenditures. That's why some birds significantly reduce the song portion of their brain outside of the mating season so that they aren't wasting energy on something they aren't gaining enough from. Keep in mind this process acts on the order of generations in a population, you aren't going to make one chimp smarter through evolution, but the descendants a ways down the line are the ones you would need to be looking at.
Still to say that eating meat makes you smart? That's a pretty far stretch. It can be related, but it's not going to be as directly related as you're making it sound. Sounds like a misunderstanding of evolution and ecology more than anything.
Question: Smart diet choices at a Chinese buffet? Can anyone give me some ideas as to what would be some low fat or low calorie choices at a Chinese buffet?
Thank you!
Answer: The problem with Chinese buffets is that many of the goodies are deep-fat fried.
Avoid the egg rolls, fried won tons, and the little fried biscuits covered in sugar.
Avoid anything that consists of a fried meat with a sauce.
(sweet and sour chicken, for example is often a fried "nugget" drowned in a sweet sauce.)
Choose steamed rice over fried rice (avoid the noodles).
Choose things like beef broccoli and other items where the meat is sauteed, not batter-fried, and vegetables are a major part of the dish.
Any dish featuring bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, snow peas, broccoli onions, peppers or other vegetables in equal proportions to the meat are preferable to the items with just a meat and cashews or peanuts or such...
Question: are the diet pills smart good for your body and if you are a person who is always setting down and typing? beucase of here job can you still take them or not
Answer: Diet pills are never good for your body. It's merely marketing smoke and mirrors for people who put out dietary suppliments that do not have to pass FDA guidelines and make money at the same time.
Of course there might be diet pills out there that aren't bad for you per se, but the effectiveness of them are about null regardless.
Question: When trying to lose some pounds, is it smart to add a lot of fruits and veggies to your diet? Along with working out everyday of course . Trying to lose 10 pounds by June 2 !
Any suggestions? I ran to the store and bought a lot of fruit and veggies, yogurt, and low calorie meals such a lean cuisines . Any other suggestions would be perfect ! Thanks in advance .
Answer: IT depends on how you define "a lot". It's best to eat your fruits before or immediately after your workout. Every other meal should be protein and fats. The protein/fat meals will encourage your body to use your stored fat as fuel. The fruits BEFORE the workout will provide you will a fast energy source so you can workout harder and longer. The fruits after your workout will help to repair your muscles. Personally, I believe the carbs before the workout of more importance based on YOUR goal.
Most important than anything though, is your daily calories. Which you don't state. The calories should be based on your current body weight, which you also don't state. Anyhow, good luck!
Question: Are Sun Conures smart? What diet should I feed it. Does it have a think/act system like an african grey?
Answer: yes there smart but do not talk but they try. you need to feed them pellet mix and fresh fruit and veggies, tefflon cook ware emits a toxic gas that is deadly to all birds. no chocolate or avocados they are also deadly. theses birds are not smart enough to know whats good for them. its your responsibility to do whats best.
Question: Is it smart to exercises to help curb a common cold? It's common sense that steady exercise and a well balanced diet will help you keep from getting a cold or flu, but is it smart to exercise while having a cold to help reduce the the length of time you are ill?
Answer: doing cardio type workouts are great! unlike lifting cardio typically will not break down much muscle, it just gets your heart rate up and most importantly makes you sweat. sweating will help break any fever you might have and giving yourself that little bit of an increased heartrate and metabolism boost will help your body work harder to fight it off.

Question: Would buying protein pills be a smart idea? I recently became a vegetarian but I've been struggling to get enough protein in my diet. I bought some whey protein powder and tried it but it tasted disgusting and I don't think I could drink some everyday. Could buying and taking protein pills be a smart idea? Would this help me?
Answer: Odds are you are getting more than enough protein. There is protein in just about every food you eat. Keep track of your protein intake for one day and you'll probably be surprised just how much you are really getting.
The average person need about 50 grams per day, which is not hard to obtain as long as you are eating a proper diet. For example, at breakfast if you have a cup of oat meal mixed with 1/2 cup milk/soy milk and orange juice, you are already getting about 15 grams just at breakfast, add ground flax seed and you are getting even more(and omega- 3's).
Buying supplements is usually a waste of money. Simply eat healthy.
High protein foods include:
soy milk, tofu, nuts(Almonds, Cashews, Filberts, Hemp Seeds, Peanuts, Pumpkin seeds, Sesame seeds, Sunflower seeds, Walnuts (black)), seeds, legumes(Garbanzo beans, Kidney beans, Lentils, Lima beans, Navy beans, Soybeans, Split peas), grains(Barley, Brown rice, Buckwheat, Millet, Oatmeal, Rye, Wheat germ, Wheat, hard red, Wild rice), vegetables(Artichokes, Beets, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Green peas, Green pepper, Kale, Lettuce, Mushrooms, Mustard green, Onions, Potatoes, Spinach, Tomatoes, Turnip greens, Watercress, Yams, Zucchini), fruits(Apple, Banana, Cantaloupe, Grape, Grapefruit, Honeydew melon, Orange, Papaya, Peach, Pear, Pineapple, Strawberry)
Question: How can I loose weight smart, easy and kind of quick? I would like to loose at LEAST 45 pounds, anything higher is better but that's my goal. I need a good dieting plan, and I can't really adapt to the meal plans because my family won't buy me special food so yea. I can and will try to do excersize but I need to know how much to do. I don't know my BMI but I am 14 and I weigh 190. Please answer with a great diet plan :] thanx
Answer: Get on a treadmill and run. Mix it up with free weights. You do not need "special foods" to loose weight. Eat six healthy small meals a day. This will keep your metabolism going and burn all your fat off. You can supplement with protein powder for one to two meals. 100% Optimum Whey is the best protein. Go to bodybuilding.com It is 42.99 for 70 servings. Go to the bodybuilding.com website (not the store) and you can find several workout plans that will fit your goals. Next go to http://www.fitday.com/. Enter in your weight and your future weight goals. Fill out the profile and create a meal plan with food you like.
Let me address a few myths:
Many women believe if they train with free weights they will become bulky like guys. Women are 90% estrogen and 10% testosterone. Men get bulky because they are 90% Test 10% Est. You will not get bulky. You will lean up. You need to do free weights because your body burns more fat when your heart rate is varied because of the rest between sets. Look up HIT (high intensity training).
Protein powder will not make you fatter. You need high quality protein to keep your metabolism going. Ever seen a skinny women with saggy skin? Protein defficeincy (misspell). She works out, but does not consume enough protein. So, her body consumers the only protein in her body, her muscles.
Lets recap:
fitday.com
enter goals and create meal plan
bodybuilding.com (enter supersite)

bodybuilding.com (enter store)

use this for meal supplementation when needed.
Remember if it was easy for someone like you to be skinny, everyone like you would be skinny. There are no short cuts.
Question: is Kellogs Smart Start cereal really healthy for you? Ive been thinking lately I need to live a healthier lifestyle. I was wondering, are the Kellogs Smart Start cereals good for you? Like with fat free milk but no sugar? Are they good to eat on a diet?
Answer: It's certainly not the worst cereal out there. My favorite cereal is by a company called Back to Nature and the type is called Energy Start. It has 15g of protein in a serving. It's a great way to start my day and fill me up before I head out the door to work. Sometimes I throw a half a serving of this cereal in some low fat yogurt as a snack at work. I used to skip breakfast all together. I eat much smaller portions now and exercise regularly. Weight just starts falling off if I stick to my plan and stay healthy. Kellogs Smart Start for the most part is fine for you to eat. Not the best but if you're active, I don't think it will matter much. Just make sure you are eating balanced portions and exercising. Best of luck on the new you!
