Spirulina Capsules
Question: Will wheat grass capsules and / or spirulina or chlorophyl capsules work as well? I have capsules in each. The juice, especially for wheat grass is hard to come by where i live. I know I could grow it but since I am not, how do caps and tablets work. Are they okay too?
Say what SkepDoc? Ouch! Well, you just go take all of your Western medicine, medicines Doc and by doing so you can barely solve one issue while creating 10 more. And be sure and run and get chemo is you ever need it. nothing like IV dripping poison into your body!
Answer: wow, the trolls are out in force today hey ........ old timekid has given you some great advice there buddy ....... capsules or tablets are far inferior to the powdered variety ....... go to your local health food store and get some organic freeze dried powdered spirulina or wheat grass ..... chlorophyll comes in a liquid form ........... and from a personal point of view ...... my hair skin or nails have never looked better or grown faster than since i've been taking the powdered spirulina and wheat grass ...... capsules and tablets also have the downside of likely containing fillers like magnesium stearate which is said the suppress t cell function and immunity.

Question: are sunova spirulina capsules non-vegetarian? i purchased a pack from 98.4 pharmacy in new delhi and it was marked non-veg isn't it suppose to be vegetarian!???
Answer: As the other answer mentioned, it has gelatin, which is not from a vegetable source... it's commonly from cow or pig cartilage, actually (much cheaper and more readily available for supplements).
To address the rest of your question, it's not that it's "supposed to be" vegetarian, but many people buying Spirulina would prefer it be pure and pure Spirulina is vegetarian (it's an algae, specifically), typically in tablet form.
You'll be perfectly fine taking that Spirulina (as long as you aren't vegetarian or eating Kosher) and it is very good for overall energy, vitality, and cleansing among many other things (it's got LOTS of nutrients in it). Nice call!
Question: Is taking Spirulina and a daily multivitamin too much? Right now I'm taking 2-4 capsules of Spirulina a day at 750 mg per, and one One A Day. Just want to make sure I'm not going to OD on anything, especially minerals.
Answer: You'll be fine.
Just be careful of your intake of fat soluble vitamins, A, D, E, and K.
Question: What would be the effect on a humans body if you take spirulina capsule?
Answer: Spirulina is good for health. But remember it only food supplement.
I have read one sites (I forgot the sites name), it says it may cause allergy, so be carefull.
Question: Can I grow spirulina from it's powdered form? I got some Rexall Spirulina capsules from Walmart. You can pull them apart and the powder comes out. If I put the powder in water, will the spirulina algae reproduce in it? I want to use it as fertilizer for my plants...

Question: SPIRULINA FOR DIABETICS? I am a diabetic can I use spirulina capsules, and let me know how helpful it is for diabetic patients
Answer: You can use them, but they'll do little for your diabetes. You will find that a super healthy, natural foods based diet (avoid man made/packaged products) along with a daily, moderate exercise program will do far more. The most effective supplements that I've found (for type two diabetes) are fenugreek, banaba, gymnema sylvestre, and cinnamon. I can't begin to stress that diet and exercise are the most important things a type two can do. No medication or supplement is going to help you more.
Question: can spirulina powder be used as a face pack in skin treatments?what are the benefits? i bought parry's spirulina capsules after reading about spirulina in a magazine but am still doubtful about the product.
Answer: Yes, the value is in the vitamins, protein and polysaccharides which can nourish and protect the skin.
The main benefit are from using Spirulina internally, eat it. Scientific studies show it can protect our muscles, brain, and the rest of our body from damage caused by oxidation and toxins. The European Journal of Applied Physiology has published the results of research showing it protects muscles during extreme exercise. The Journal of Experimental Neurology published a study showing it protects brain cells from damage caused by stroke. Other studies show it can protects from effects of radiation poisoning, so it is probably good for your skin and face as well.
Question: which is better, soft gel capsule spirulina or tablet?
Answer: soft gel caps 4 sure!
Question: has anyone used spirulina? and what form do u prefer, powder or capsule? i have the powder form but dont find that it dissolves in water or juice easily. any suggestions? can it be put in a hot liquid such as tea?
Answer: Hey jenn, definitely the capsules. I tried powder for a few months, I don't know how I lasted that long !!! Every time I drank it the smell nearly made me dry reach.......... i was also under the false that the powder was cheaper, it isn't. Capsules are so much easier, one gulp and they're gone........ :0)

Question: a question about Spirulina.? hi again i am a 16 year old male i have recently started takeing spirulina ( a super food ) i got a bottle of i think 100 Capsules but i find them to big to swallow so i open them and poor two into a water bottle and drink it first thing in the morning then i wait 30 minutes before eating i have only done this twice should i stop or keep doing this? i know there is a spirulina powder but i will get that when im done with the Capsules.
Answer: If this method works for you, I would not worry about it. I just would not put tablets in hot water as this may destroy the important nutrients found in spirulina. If you achieve the results you want with this supplement then you are doing fine.
Question: Spirulina side effects question? A couple of months ago, I started taking Spirulina supplements. I took 1 capsule a day for a couple of weeks and felt fine. But then I started getting these isolated red itchy bumps all over my body (just a couple at a time). I stopped taking the Spirulina thinking it was from that. But, it's been about 2 weeks, and I still get a couple of new bumps a day. Has anyone else experienced this with Spirulina or is this from something else? All the internet research I've done suggests that taking spirulina produces very few side effects.
Kunwar, thank you for your concern, but my eating habits are quite good. I'm sure my reaction is not from poor eating habits. I'm one of the healthiest people you'd ever meet, which is why my problem is such a mystery to me.
Answer: If you are still having the reaction two weeks after stopping Spirulina, then it is not the Spirulina. Spirulina and most green foods leave your system within 3-5 days at the absolute most (unless you haven't had a bowel movement in the past 2 weeks), so it's not possible that the reaction could still be from the Spirulina.
If you don't know what the reaction is from, I would suggest checking with your doctor or an allergist to find out what may be causing it. Good luck!

Question: Can I over supplement my diet? Every day I take: A vitamin B12 capsule; 15 grams of spirulina; 2 multi trace minerals (organically sourced); vital greens "super green" powder (http://www.vitalgreens.com/docs/vital_greens_ingredients.pdf); a tablespoon of Lifestream Calcium (http://www.lifestream.co.nz/Products/Lifestream-Natural-Calcium/MenuId/27.aspx); a tablespoon of flaxseed meal; a tablespoon of sunflower oil and a teaspoon of kelp.
Can I be over supplementing my diet?
Is there any risk to over supplementation?
Answer: Yes you are and yes there are.
The nutrients we get from our food is much much more beneficial to the body than any supplements.
Unless your doctor has recommended any one of them for a specific reason they are probably superfluous as long as you eat a balanced diet.
Question: Did I eat enough yesterday? Breakfast: Baby spinach + an apple + a banana + pea protein powder + green powder + water all blended
Snack: Pumpkin seed kernels
Lunch: Coss lettuce + tomato + cucumber
1 teaspoon of nutritional yeast
10 grams of spirulina + 5 grams of cholerella + an orange + water blended
Snack: Snowpea sprouts
Organic calcium powder + water blended
Dinner: Baby spinach + collards +a mandarin + a spanish onion + sunflower seeds + flaxseed oil (salad)
Zinc capsule + 2 grams of vitamin C with water
I also took a sub-lingual vitamin B12 with each meal.
Do you think I ate enough?
I've been told to take heaps of B12 because I eat so much B12 analogues (spirulina and cholerella and my calcium is seaweed based) that it would interrupt with absorption.
Answer: I find that the best way to tell if you've eaten enough is if you listen to your body and you really feel full. To me, the food you ate should have been plenty, but no one can really judge that except yourself.
That being said, I would encourage you to eat more beans and whole grains. They provide important nutrients that you can't find anywhere else.
And, while it's great to have vitamin B12 so often, you don't need as much as you took yesterday. The human body stores B12 so a few mcg a day or one larger one a week is plenty. It won't hurt to take more than that, but you just don't need it, especially if you are eating nutritional yeast.
