Question: liquid stevia in brooklyn?? Does anyone know where to buy liquid (not the powdered form) stevia in NYC, preferably in Brooklyn? I haven't checked TJ or Perelandra yet, has anyone seen this product in either of these stores, or anywhere else? Thank you!!!
Answer: do you have a whole foods near you? because I know they have it.
Question: I picked up a liquid bottle of stevia last night at whole foods and I'm looking forward to trying it...but I? I've recently made some major lifestyle changes. I was very ill and even in hospital (severe weight loss, insomnia, dizziness, panic attacks and severe dehydration) about a month ago. Without the doctors getting to the root of my illness, they did an EKG and all was normal, couple of bags of fluids later, they sent me on my way and recommended that I see their immediate care clinic. They sent me to a nurse practitioner and she happily diagnosed me with mild anxiety and prescribed an anti-depressent..not a huge shocker.
Fortunately, an Amish doc in Indiana (Jake Schwartz-thumbs up!) identified my issues at with extreme adrenal gland fatigue, in the medical community also know as hypoadrenia. I chose to quit taking the meds and go a alternative/hollistic approach. One month later, I'm well on my way to recovery...I give credit to (God first always), vitamins, the right foods and herbs....no thanks to the western medicine.
I have only been drinking water (with sea salt) and muscle milk for quite sometime. I love the vitamins that come with the muscle milk but I can taste the sucralose in it and I'm not a fan. All that I can find on Stevia at this stage has been reassuring. I picked up a liquid bottle of stevia last night at whole foods and I'm looking forward to trying it...but I'm extremely conscious of what I put in my body now. I want to make sure that no one has had any side effects (esp. anxiety, heart racing, insomnia) with this product?
Cheers to balance and good health!
Hope
Answer: No, Stevia has no side effects. It's a simple herb that is very sweet.
Also, by FDA regulations, there would have to be a warning on the side of the bottle if there were any side effects or cautions with the product. Aside from that, some people don't like the taste and some people do... that would be the only concern that I have about Stevia. Good luck and I hope I helped!
Question: Why is registation taking so long at veggieboards? I just tried to registe at veggiboards, because it nobody can reply to a post unless registered. But After the date of birth part, it went to a white blank page and is taking so long to get to the user name selection part of the registration. Why? Also what is liquid Stevia? It's an ingredient in a smoothie recipe that forum has.
Just what is liquid Stevia? I was going to ask on the veggie boards.com forum, but it required registration. I want to make the smoothie recipe but not knowing what stevia is, how can I? Any ideas? Also what's the best brand of soy milk? That's something else it takes.
Answer: stevia is a sweetener. you can get it at an organic grocer, like wholefoods.
Question: Where can i buy Stevia (Powdered form) in the UK? I went in to Holland and Barrett's today, and they only sell the liquid form.
Answer: I bought some for a chef friend of mine when in Liverpool at the Chemist, Boots and other have it n the Natural food sections, a health food shop, some regular grocery shops have it, some n the lane were the sugar is sold, other in the department were they sell the baking products.
Question: Whats the healthiest alternative to flavor tea with? I always flavor with a packet of Splenda but I keep hearing how bad Splenda is, so I was wondering whats a healthier alternative???
I heard about liquid Stevia, is that good??
I would use honey but I don't want them extra calories
Please help, I can't drink tea w/o anything b/c then it taste like dry leaves..HELP!! I love my tea
Answer: Stevia comes from the leaves of an herb and is a natural sweetener. It's supposed to be sweeter than sugar. You can grow the plant yourself and use the leaves or buy it in the liquid or powder form.
Splenda is an artificial sweetener and probably won't kill you, but a natural alternative would be better for both you and the environment.
Question: Question for seasoned STEVIA users? I am wondering what is the best type of stevia to use for coffee. The liquid, the powder, or the packets?
They all seem to have slightly different ingredients. I am looking for the most pure, sweet, best tasting with no after taste. Thanks.
Answer: I like the packets...the liquid sometimes u can drop to much and then ..yuckkkk..lol
Question: How do you use stevia herbal sweetener? I bought this stevia herbal sweetner in liquid form. It has a drop applicator that i can use to put drops of this stuff in my coffee. What is one drop equal to? I usually use 4 Spenda Sweeteners in my large coffee (At Tim Hortons- or an average mug size) in the mornings. thats alot of sweetener and alot of sweetness! lol Its bad, and not good for me!-but i can't use real sugar. SO how many drops do i use? What is even equal to one sugar? Any help would be so appreciated! Thank you! :)
Answer: Just try a drop at a time, it's pretty sweet so you won't need much.
Question: Starting an Organic Liquid Diet? What are some protein shakes, juices, and other liquid drinks (not powders because I don't think my EBT card will pay for those) I'm looking for things extremely low in carbs and sugar, because they bother my heart. Anything you can think of let me know. Thanks.
P.S. Any products with Stevia in it you know of?
Answer: MMM I love Jay Robb's protein drinks! They come in Egg White Protein, Whey Protein & Rice Protein! I personally love the egg white one because I don't believe in whey... the rice protein one is pretty good too! They come in Vanilla, Chocolate & Strawberry [and the Whey comes in more flavors than just those three]... Personally I adore the vanilla one... and since they're only about 120 calories per serving you can definitely eat two servings! :)
Oh and I do believe they have stevia in them!
Question: why do people use aspartain with health risks? Why do most people use artificial sweeteners? when Stevia powder or liquid can be used without the hamful effects of aspartaine. Stevia is from a leaf & is benificial. I have watched the Sweet Misery download...
OMG!!!! You all need to see this! We are poisoning ourselves! My Mum did, she hammered the artificial sweeteners, she passed away ages 50.
Answer: Artificial sweeteners such as Aspartame and Splenda are much worse for you than common sugar which will ruin your health for 146 reasons that are listed in http://www.rheumatic.org/sugar.htm .
Most people are probably not aware of the health risks of artificial sweeteners.
Question: Who knows about the hCG diet and KETONES? I've used the Atkin's diet several times throughout the years. I used ketone strips to test my ketone output throughout the diet. On Atkins I'd hold steady at about 40 ketones, and I'd lose about 2 lbs per day. (I'm over 100 lbs overweight)
Now I'm on the HCG diet and my ketones are between 80-160! AMAZING!!! Yet I'm only losing MAYBE a pound a day, sometimes gaining 1-2 lbs. And while on the VLCD (very low calorie diet) I get really tired when I eat. I feel better just drinking liquids all day (water or herbal tea with Stevia; about 64 oz liquids a day) and staying hungry. I finally ate some Tilapia and Celery last night around 8 PM and was soooo sleepy I crashed. I stayed the same weight after yesterday's 64 oz liquid intake and total 120 calorie diet. (I had a couple strawberries in the morning).
I feel worse (and hungrier) when I eat a full 500 calories!
1. Does the ketone level matter?
2. Why is food making me so tired?!
3. Should I do a higher calorie/fat diet for a day or two again??
Answer: You are well informed about how the Ketosis process burns fat into Ketones for energy. However, you need to understand that the HCG Diet works a little differently than the Atkins Diet. The HCG will keep your body from going into starvation mode and will mobilize your fat reserves, that is make them available to be burned through Ketosis. However, if you drop below 500 calories per day your body will push past the effects of the HCG and will in effect go into starvation mode and stall your weight loss efforts. Dr. Simeons emphatically states you MUST eat 500 calories per day to lose weight!
Keep in mind the ketone strips are not as simple as you make them sound. They are measuring the amount of ketones your body is NOT using for fuel NOT that actual about you are burning. So the fact that your Ketone levels are higher does not directly correspond to weight lose in and of itself. But it does mean your are burning fat, which is what you want.
So, to directly answer your questions:
1. No, Ketone levels as measured via your urine does not matter. It will fluctuate based on several factors, such as activity level, hyrdration level, and the like. As long as your in Ketosis your fine.
2. Your body will normalize after 5-7 days of the 500 calorie diet, just like on the Adkins Diet. BUT your must eat the full 500 calories! Try spreading your meals out and spliting up your portions over the day and you can even add 100 grams of lean protein per Dr. Simeons original diet if you need additional protein to help regulate blood sugar levels. Keep in mind that your body can covert protein into small amounts of glucose as needed by the body but you need that protein to do it!!! Do not do fluids only!!
3. Answered Already, do the 500 calories per the diet! It works!
Also, the Ketosis process works on a 2-3 day cycle. As your body burns the fat into ketones it doesn't immediately consume the cell which contained the fat or the tissue surrounding it. Rather it fills the now "empty" fat cell with water as a place holder until it get around to burn the actual cell and tissue over the next 2-3 days. This is why people can go a day or so without losing and then suddenly drop 1-3lbs in a day.
The key is to drink a min. of 2qtrs of water or tea per day, this flushes the ketones out of our body which then triggers your body to burn more ketones to replace those you just flushed out making your body a fat burning machine!
Check out my sources for more info. I have lost 60lbs on two rounds of the HCG Diet and have done the Atkins Diet as well.
Question: Has anyone else heard of Xowii and is it something I should get involved in? A friend of mine introduced me to a new energy drink called Xowii, and it almost sounds too good to be true so I wanted to run it by my Yahoo Answers people to see what others think...This stuff is made out of the coffee berry, which right away sounded good because some expensive anti-aging cream I have uses the coffee berry. It also has a Brunswick Labs certification of 5700 ORAC per can, which is way higher than the "super-fruit-juice" I'm drinking now. She says it has liquid glucosemine and is sweeteded by Stevia. It's a network marketing company, which means if you enroll others you can earn some money, so another thing my friend claimed was that if I could enroll 2 people and just one of them enroll 2 people, that all 48 cans of my order for the month would be paid for.
Honestly guys that sounds extremely easy for me to do - but I was hoping someone out there thats heard of this could verify these claims or prove them wrong so I can avoid a possible mistake.
Thanks in advance!!!
Answer: scam

Question: What do your kids drink.... Kool-Aid, Crystal Light, etc.? Besides milk and juice. I can't get them to drink plain water.
-Kool-Aid is loaded with sugar.
-Crystal Light and sugar-free Kool-aid both contain aspartame.
-I'm sure after a few years, Splenda will be known to cause health problems once it's given some time.
-Stevia is just too expensive to sweeten Kool-Aid packets: once you do the math, one liquid bottle ($20) will only sweeten 7 gallons.
Does anyone have a recipe for something that's low-sugar so my kids aren't bouncing off the walls, lol?
Answer: Have a day where you only offer them ice water. By the end of the day they will be drinking it. Maybe get some cool shaped ice trays and make them some neat ice. Add a drop of food coloring to a bowl full of water and use the colored water to make the ice... perhaps they just don't like water because it is clear.
Question: Is 2 tablespoons of arrowroot in a litre of icecream ok for a diabetic? I know it is high GI but does not represent much of the total amount?
Does anyone know how to modify the recipe so I use Agar Agar instead?
Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream
This is perhaps my favorite homemade ice cream. It's thick and creamy and oh-so-sinful. But it also has blueberries in it, so you can pretend it's good for you. (It's a good idea to check out my General Guidelines and Advice before starting to cook.)
2 c. Silk soy creamer
1 c. vegan cream cheese (approx. 8-ounce container Tofutti)
¾ c. sugar
1 T. lemon juice
½ c. soy milk
2 T. arrowroot
1 t. vanilla
1 c. blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1/8 c. sugar
splash lemon juice
Combine soy creamer, cream cheese, sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan. Heat and mix contents. It will take some whisking to break up the cream cheese and get it to dissolve. While heating, combine the ½ cup soy milk and 2 tablespoons arrowroot and set aside. Once the pan’s contents are boiling, take from heat and add soy milk–arrowroot mixture. The liquid should thicken quickly. Add vanilla extract. Set aside to cool.
Combine blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a small saucepan. Heat until boiling and some blueberries have burst. Set aside to cool.
Freeze cream cheese mixture according to ice cream maker instructions. Add blueberries 5 minutes before end of freezing cycle.
Does anyone know a good source of diabetic ice cream recipes using stevia Xylito?
Answer: Put these recipes into a nutrition generator like
http://www.nutritiondata.com
http://www.sparkpeople.com
and see what they say is the grams of carb so you can see what they will potentially do to your glucose level.
I have half cup serving of something good on a regular basis but allowing for other things to be deleted from that meal so that I come up with less than 30 grams carb total for the meal. I don't disallow for the fiber but count the total grams of carb. Works much better for me.

Answer: Make your own. Buy a blender. Buy frozen fruits [blueberries, mango chunks, papaya chunks, pineapple chunks, cherries, blackberries, raspberries, peach slices, etc], buy fresh fruits [lime, lemon, mango, oranges, grapefruit, bananas, etc] and blend them with water. Not all together, but you get what i mean. Make combinations and blend. Buy raw + organic almonds to make almond beverage [aka almond milk]. Season it with cardamom and ginger and blend with a sweet fruit [dates, strawberries, etc]. Since you're looking for things low in sugar, be careful blending fruits too often.
If your EBT card can pay for a protein powder [which is better then getting a protein shake], buy from Naturade's Protein booster. Or get Nature's Way's Alive! Ultra Shake. Or get one of the Greens+ powders. When looking at powders, Greens means vegetable based and Reds means fruit based.
Um...stay away from soft drinks, drink lots of water [the fruit will give you access to fiber and loads of vitamins]. Pick up some Nutritional yeast if you can't get the powders I recommended. This way, you can get your B vitamin spectrum. Good luck and keep it safe.
