Question: How long should I study? What is the correct way to study? I'm currently studying Arabic language, my teacher said I have to study at least 1 hour per day at home. But its not enough, so I usually study in my room for 4 hours or so. But sometimes I get bored.
My friend said study for 40 minutes then rest for a while then continue to study for another 40 minutes.
Maybe there is another way to study? So I don't get bored easily? And much more effective?
Answer: I think the best way to study without being bored is to relax yourself. For example, before you start to study, you have to clear up your mind and think only about happy things and concentrate on the book. Make sure you're far from any distractions. Sometimes you do get bored no matter what. In that case, you just have to leave your desk a little while and walk around your room or your house or looking out of the windows so that your brain absorb new pictures. But don't take this too long.
I see you're studying Arabic, then I'd say the best way is to practice, as they always say, 'Practice makes perfect.' You should watch Arabic news on TV or listen to the Arabic radio. You can also practice your Arabic with your classmates! Best lucks!
Question: Why is the study of religious ritual classified as a subject for anthropology, rather than religious studies? I have a degree in religious studies, and I'm very interested in religious rituals. Most of the books about it are written by anthropologists, and some use jargon of that field that I am not very familiar with. Why is ritual classified as a subject for anthropology, rather than religious studies?
What would be the difference between someone who studied ritual as an anthropologist, and one who studied it as a "religious study"? Would the 2 have different perspectives?
Answer: I am bachelor in sociology and I have also wondered where is the border between all these sciences.
Anthropology is generally the science that examines the way people live in the different social realms. A science for the society but is interested in the human beings living in this society not the processes in it that is work for the sociology.
Anthropology is very close to culturology, ethnology, sociology even philosophy.
Have in mind that these sciences are very close and unlike the sciences like mathematics, chemistry etc. most of the authors are at the same time :anthropologists; culturologists; sociologists etc.
In this case the religion is being studied as an object and it can be analyzed in different ways under the point of view of each of the sciences I mentioned, or just as religious ritual study, there could be even other variants. The problem is that the texts that the authors create are often unclear if they are anthropological, culturological or smth else.
So you see it is very complicated picture, I hope I helped ;)
Question: How to study to become a software programmer? How to study to become a software programmer? I took a few programming classes, but I feel like programming is something strange. It is out or reach? Is there an easy or right way to study programming? Is it true that most programmers often get free codes from internet instead of starting programming from scratch? Is it true that when you study a programming class, you have to learn from book, and also how to use the software to compile the program? Why are the courses of programming classes in University are often hard or out of reach? Do you know some books which could help me to study programming?
Answer: -How to study to become a software programmer?
Take introductory programming classes at a college or extension college offering C#. It helps to have a mentor.
-How to study to become a software programmer?
Classes meeting once per week and prividing you with assignments are usually best. Once you master the underlying concepts, you should be able to learn on your own from internet sites, magazines, and books.
-I took a few programming classes, but I feel like programming is something strange. It is out or reach?
It may be if you are not inclined to master mathematics and have a passion for creating software. If you don't like it, try something else. You want to do something that is inspiring to you.
-Is there an easy or right way to study programming?
There's nothing like doing assignments and writing lots of code. C# is the most important emerging language. Java is also popular and well established on multiple platforms.
-Is it true that most programmers often get free codes from internet instead of starting programming from scratch?
Using a working module as a basis for code is time saving. It can be used as part of a proof of concept, but should not be incorporated directly in the final product.
-Is it true that when you study a programming class, you have to learn from book, and also how to use the software to compile the program?
-Most instuctors provide the information in lectures, but that's the least effective teaching modality. You should be able to learn from books and the Internet. You can copy programs from a book, but you must learn concepts that you can apply to your own work. This comes after years of practice.
-Why are the courses of programming classes in University are often hard or out of reach?
In my opinion, if you have the proper foundation, they are easy. If you have difficulty with math or abstract concepts, you may need to do more class work in preparation.
-Do you know some books which could help me to study programming?
Try any step by step book in C#. You will need a current Windows operating system and you can download the C# 2005 Express edition from Microsoft at no cost to you.

Question: What to study for specific psychology career goal? I want to be able to treat people, but I am really interested in cultural differences in perception and thought. I want to study different cultures first hand (in other countries) to research differences. I have my Bachelors in an unrelated field (art), but what should I ultimately study in my Masters/Doctorate level? I have wanderlust - should I be studying some other field?
Answer: No -- Research Psychology sounds like the perfect field for you. The subdivision you are talking about (studying cultural and regional differences) is part of Social Psychology.
It's tough to get into a research program -- they are quite competitive. Almost always, the Masters and PhD. degree programs are combined into one 5-year program (because you can't do anything with a Masters in Research Psychology.) You may have to take some additional courses to qualify for grad school. If you have the opportunity, volunteer to run experiments in the Psychology department as an undergrad -- that letter of recommendation will really help you to get into grad school.
You can get books at the library or a bookstore on getting into grad school for Psychology. One popular brand is the Bear Guides.
Here's the bad news. There are always a few exceptions, but in Social Psychology, you generally need to make a choice between treating patients and doing research, because the two have different types of educations. It's actually easier to get accepted into a program where you will primarily treat patients. You can get a Psy. D., a Masters, a PhD. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or even a Masters in Social Work and do therapy. Only PhDs. in Social Pschology do the type of research you are interested in.
BTW -- This type of research doesn't necessarily involve travel. Often, a professor of Social Psychology in the US will collaborate with a professor of Social Psychology in China, to do the same experiment on people from different countries. That's partly because...you probably don't speak very good Chinese, do you? And, even if you did, the subjects might act differently around you, since you're obviously a foreigner.
Question: What are the subjects needed to study finance accounting at university? I just started college and i'm studying accounting, economics, mathematics and business studies. Is these the right subjects or should i study sociology instead of business studies. I need to know what subjects top universities ask for when a person wants to study finance accounting.
Answer: 1. I think your list is fine.
2. Add corporate finance when you have the prerequisites.
3. You should have a faculty advisor who you can ask questions like this of, rather than an anonymous group of people on Yahoo Answers.
Question: What is it like to study at university in a foreign language? The foreign language in question I have studied for 7 years, but I'm not quite ready to take the certificate for studying in it, so I will do a semester course. My question is: were you satisfied with your decision to study in a language that is not your mother tongue or did you highly regret it? How long did you learn it before you studied in it?
Answer: I've been studying English for about 7 or 8 years (with varying degrees of intensity) when I took my first college course in English.
For some reason, I was really exhausted after the first lectures, but after some time I got used to it and almost didn't notice it any more. I'm studying math, so most literature is in English anyway and I already knew all the specific words and such.
Personally, I'd recommend you to watch some lectures in your language online or some documentaries. It is a very pleasant way to improve your conversation skills and also helps you to determine how much comprehension you really have.
Question: What are good study strategies for me to follow? I will be starting a new semester soon at university. Every semester I tell myself I will do better but I keep falling into the same old study habits. What are good study habits to perform well in my studies?
Answer: you should daily give some few minutes after your semester classes for revision as what have you done in classes if u regularly do it it will work out for you and also on Sunday you should give a hour for revising what you have done in the past week. and this will surely help you out...

Question: How do I study my resume to prepare for an interview ? I find it difficult to prepare for interviews. I'm generally good at bantering, but I find it confusing/difficult when I have to talk about my work experience.
How should I study my resume to prepare for such open-ended questions as "Why did you decide to get into such and such area" or "Tell me about your experiences with such and such"
Should I write a short exposition for each bullet point, and study that? I heard rote memorization is not the right way to study for an interview.
Thanks!
Answer: I always recommend 'tweaking' your cover letter and resume to specifically reflect the job your applying for. So, if your applying for ten jobs, you might have ten resumes. All similar, but each giving emphasis to the job you're targeting it at.
Try practicing interviews with friends or family. You know what type of experience you have! Most interviewers are looking to make sure what you've represented in your cover & resume is accurate and that you are a good 'fit' to the organization.
Be yourself. Be honest. Be prepared to give practical examples of your past experience. I'm sure you have talked about your job to others before, it's basically the same thing.
Look down your resume and think about what you've done on those jobs. Focus on accomplishments. Being part of teams. Making deadlines. Expressing challenges that you've overcome.
You don't need a script. You just need to relax - which the practice suggestion will help with. Also, search out some web-sites with interview advice. If they have sample questions, answer them! Keep working at it! It will get easier!
Best of Luck! Not that you'll need it!

Question: How can you study without getting distracted every 2 minutes? Hiya,
I try to study every day, but i end up watching TV, eating for the sake of it, dancing etc. Basically i keep getting distracted! Even when i study at the library i'm still distracted!
Last week when i was studying though, i was fine. Why am i so bad this week? Could it be my diet or something?
Answer: It sounds like just boredom. Your mind deep down doesn't feel like studying. Give yourself a challenge to keep yourself focused. Challenge (and you can also reward!) yourself to stay focused and finish the homework without a single distraction.
