Tiredness
Question: tiredness? I get about 8 or 9, sometimes 10 hours of sleep at night, yet during the day I feel tired and very sleepy where I can just lay down and go to sleep instant. I wake up a lot in the middle of the night though, I wake up and roll around in my bed about every hour, every single night, could it be my mattress or what, that's making me roll around and making me tired throughout the day?
I exercise daily and no i don't drink alcohol.

If you are having normal sleep disorder, you can try the following method:-
1. Avoid watching TV, eating, and discussing emotional issues in bed. The bed should be used for sleep and sex only. If not, we can associate the bed with other activities and it often becomes difficult to fall asleep.
2. Minimize noise, light, and temperature extremes during sleep with ear plugs, window blinds, or an electric blanket or air conditioner. Even the slightest nighttime noises or luminescent lights can disrupt the quality of your sleep. Try to keep your bedroom at a comfortable temperature -- not too hot (above 75 degrees) or too cold (below 54 degrees).
3. Try not to drink fluids after 8 p.m. This may reduce awakenings due to urination. (Frequent night urination must be check for prostate/diabetes problem)
4. Avoid naps, but if you do nap, make it no more than about 25 minutes about eight hours after you awake. But if you have problems falling asleep, then no naps for you.
5. Do not expose your self to bright light if you need to get up at night. Use a small night-light instead.
6. Nicotine is a stimulant and should be avoided particularly near bedtime and upon night awakenings. Having a smoke before bed, although it may feel relaxing, is actually putting a stimulant into your bloodstream.
7. Caffeine is also a stimulant and is present in coffee (100-200 mg), soda (50-75 mg), tea (50-75 mg), and various over-the-counter medications. Caffeine should be discontinued at least four to six hours before bedtime. If you consume large amounts of caffeine and you cut your self off too quickly, beware; you may get headaches that could keep you awake.
8. Although alcohol is a depressant and may help you fall asleep, the subsequent metabolism that clears it from your body when you are sleeping causes a withdrawal syndrome. This withdrawal causes awakenings and is often associated with nightmares and sweats.
9. A light snack may be sleep-inducing, but a heavy meal too close to bedtime interferes with sleep. Stay away from protein and stick to carbohydrates or dairy products. Milk contains the amino acid L-tryptophan, which has been shown in research to help people go to sleep. So milk and cookies or crackers (without chocolate) may be useful and taste good as well.
10. Do not exercise vigorously just before bed, if you are the type of person who is aroused by exercise. If this is the case, it may be best to exercise in the morning or afternoon (preferably an aerobic workout, like running or walking).
11. Does your pet sleep with you? This, too, may cause arousals from either allergies or their movements in the bed. Thus, Fido and Kitty may be better off on the floor than on your sheets.

Question: How do i know if my tiredness stems from food allergies? I am really tired constantly and im learning nutrition in college yet even after i eat carbs carbs carbs and protein it never seems to give me energy im constantly worn down. Is there any kind of food allergy that causes tiredness constantly and another thing when i eat certain foods i can eat a ton of it and not feel like i ate anything at all its wierd?
Any ideas?
Answer: Food allergies don't make you tired, they give you mild or severe stomachaches depending on how allergic you are to it.
Tiredness can be caused by any kind of vitamin deficiency, I know iron deficiency is usually the worst. Try taking more vitamins.
Also, stick to a regular sleep schedule, even if you're getting enough sleep each night if you go to bed and wake up at different times every day it will make you tired.
And with the food, it's the starch level. Foods that are high in startch actually expand when you eat them so you get full fast, certain foods with no startch or very low levels of it will make you feel like you ate nothing.
Question: Can one be very sleepy without being tired a bit? How much overlap exists between tiredness and sleepiness? I'm doing research (at personal level) on tiredness and sleepiness. And one of the fundamental puzzles that I'm attempting to address is the relationship between tiredness and sleepiness, and that whether or not these two are (necessarily/optionally) mutually exclusive (or vice versa). I wish to find out if it's possible that one is very sleepy but not tired at all, because I've observed that when one is very tired, one generally is very sleepy too. The reverse may not be true though.
Answer: I have found I can be sleepy and not tired. Also, tired but not really sleepy. Sleepiness for me is more a heavy feeling in my eyes. Just gotta close them and get to sleep. Brain function starts to get a little foggy too. However I can be tired, which I feel more in my body, such as after strenuous exercise, or just a long day, but not feel necessarily sleepy. Hope that helped you out.
Question: What is difference between laziness and tiredness? How would I know if I am being lazy or just tired. Like say I got a chem test coming up. Yet I feel this great pressure and force like its mental but it feels physical and it wont let me study. Basically I feel great resistance. I can do any activity I want and read as much as I want on the net but when it comes to studying i feel great resistance and start feeling really tired. Is that laziness or tiredness.
Answer: In this situation it is your body's response to stress. I have had this before, I get extremely tired and want to fall asleep when faced with a very stressful situation. But in general: tiredness is usually when your body needs rest, or feels like it does because of something like stress, not enough food, depression, etc. Laziness is just when you don't want to do something because you don't want to put any effort into it.
Question: What causes EXTREME tiredness during the day, fevers at night, and insomnia? I've already had mono and it's not that.
What else can cause extreme tiredness & exhaustion?
Answer: There are many different things it could be so only a Doctor will be able to figure it out. If you have a fever, it is usually an indication that your body is fighting off a virus or bacteria. Your bodies temperature goes up because this will help eliminate the intruder in your body. But the problems with fever is that if your body temperature gets too high it can harm you.
Here you will find more information on fevers:

It sounds like its best you go to the doctor especially if you don't see an improvement or if it gets worst.
Question: What can this Sudden Tiredness and feeling of exhaustion be? I am 56 and normally very fit. Recently though, I have been suffering from extreme tiredness both sleepy type and bodily too. I eat well, take exercise and am not overweight. I will just be sat doing nothing and am overcome with this feeling of total exhaustion. What can this be?
Answer: When I was reading your question, the first thing that came to mind is your heart/circulatory system. Have you had a physical recently? I would go to a drug store and test your blood pressure in one of those public blood pressure cuffs. I would make an appointment to see the doctor as well. I sure hope it's nothing serious. You may just be anemic and need more iron. Only the doctor can test you to be sure. I hope you're feeling better really soon. Take care.
Question: How can I temporarily stop tiredness without sleep? Iv got an exam in a few hours but I havn't had much sleep in the past few days, about 5-6 hours max a night. Is there a quick way of stopping this tiredness setting in for a few hours, I'v got a headache, and my eyes hurt, and I can't concentrate with it. I just need it to go away for 2-3 hours or so, and when I get back, I'm just going to go to sleep.
Answer: take a nap...
Question: What are the chemicals in the brain that transmit pain and tiredness? i am writing a science-fiction book and one of the characters is not able to feel pain, and never gets tired. i want the book to be as scientifically accurate as possible while still being sci-fi, and so i need to know which chemicals in the brain transmit the feeling of pain and which ones transmit the feeling of tiredness. i also need to know the alternate effects, if any, of those chemicals. thanks guys!
Answer: Physicians at the university's MIND Imaging Center have discovered that the brain releases a noticeable amount of two chemicals when it experiences pain. The pain had triggered a large release of the related chemicals glutamine and glutamate, which help nerves send signals through the brain.
Question: How can a pregnant woman fight tiredness? Hello! Just wondering how a pregnant woman who has a toddler can fight off constant tiredness and lack of motivation? I don't want to drink a lot of caffiene b/c that's not supposed to be good for the baby. Thanks!
Answer: The only thing I've found that works is taking a nap. When your toddler takes one, you should take at least 45 minutes of a nap as well. It'll help more than you can imagine.
Question: What kind of tests can be performed for tiredness and constant fatigue? I'm on anti-depressant medication, so maybe it's that that's giving me bouts of fatigue and tiredness, and sometimes extreme laziness. If I don't have anything to do sometimes, I'll stay in bed until 2 or 3 in the afternoon, completely tired still. Doesn't matter how many hours of sleep I get, I'm still tired. What kind of tests can be done at the docs? Blood test? Change in meds?
Thanks -
Answer: Before going back to the doctor, try walking a block or two a day for a week.
You may be getting too much sleep.
Question: Could it be my hormones are out of whack and that is causing my acne and tiredness? For the past couple of months, my face has broken out badly with acne and I have been extremely tired. My doctor is going to the FSH two day test and a sonogram.

My menstrual cycles are very regular. Average being 28 days, longest being 31 days and shortest being 25 days.

Answer: Take a multivitamin every day.
Question: What will help soreness from biking? Also what tactics do you have to take your mind of tiredness? Due to circumstances beyond my control I can no longer get lifts into my nearest town, seven miles away. I've been biking to get to singing lessons and so on and pretty much any time I need to go in, but it's literally a pain in the arse. I'm sore all over especially on my bum, and I need to bike into town again this afternoon... does anyone have any suggestions? I can't buy a new saddle, I'm broke, and adjusting the seat is impossible for me, as the bike is old and stiff.
Also, I'm an incredibly unfit person, and biking the 14 miles there and back is very tiring and difficult for me. I imagine practise will help with that, but are there any tactics people have to ignore the tiredness, and the aching legs etc in the meantime?
Answer: The hardest answer is that more riding is going to take away the soreness. I didn't believe it when I started commuting to work, but it was (painfully) true! Especially for your bum! The second day I rode, mine was screaming in agony in the first few miles! I had quite a few more to go and all I could think about was, "I've got to get to work. No if's, and's, or but's..." Aside from more riding, making sure that the seat is set up properly will help to ensure there's no other pains aside from those of just beginning to bike.
As for ignoring the tiredness and aching, I say music. I know you shouldn't wear headphones while riding, but I do wear some and keep the volume low enough that I can hear noises on my bike (and other passing cars and riders) and there's some songs for me that really get me pumped up! Also, reaching certain points just gets me more excited like getting home a few minutes earlier than ever before, climbing a bigger hill while feeling less like I'm dead, realizing I no longer have to get off and walk my bike anywhere! Just the little things make me feel pumped like I'm getting better!
Question: What is the best suppliment for tiredness? Hi Guys, i have a normal 9-5 office job, no kids and a normal home life. I don't take much exercise apart from dog walking, but i seem to suffer with really bad tiredness, even though i try to eat healthy meals. Can anyone suggest a good supliment? Many thanks
Answer: A lack of vitamin C in your diet can contribute to fatigue and exhaustion ....... foods rich in vitamin C will increase the uptake of iron assimilation ...... ie ~ leafy and green vegies (raw if you can as cooking devitalises them ~ or lightly steamed), citrus fruits such as lemons, limes and oranges, strawberries, blackberries, potatoes and tomatoes.
Also try to cut back on any sugary or junky type foods you eat as these foods will only tax an already stressed system by robbing you of the precious stores of vitamins and minerals you already have in an effort to eliminate the junk ........ think candies, lollies, cakes, chocolate, icecream and white bread and biscuits ....... try to eat more wholegrain breads and cereals such as brown rice and more fresh fruit and vegies.
Cut out sodas, pop and soft drinks if you drink any as they will only dehydrate you and rob you of your water soluble vitamins amongst others ..... such as potassium which is essential for delivering oxygen to the brain and calcium ....... leaching the calcium straight from your bones in an effort to rebalance the calcium phosphorus balance ...... drink 8 glasses of water daily as the happiest and healthiest body will always be the most hydrated one ...... you'd be amazed at how being just a little dehydrated can affect your mood, stress and energy levels.
Caffeinated drinks will also rob you of your precious water soluble vitamins in the B complex and vitamin C and dehydrate you.
take care of you
peace baby
