Training
Question: training....? does anyone know a site where i can search or a good training program that works??!!?!? my dog is not behaving anymore and i need to have a professional help thanks
Answer: Another vote for the APDT. You really don't want some person who just hangs up a sign that says, "Hey! I'm a dog trainer!" to train your dog. You do want a professional who actively seeks to use kind, clear, and positive methods. It's been proven many times over that bullying and intimidation does not work to teach a dog - hire a clicker trainer and learn how to work with your dog. Your dog will thank you.
**** edit : I think that observing a class at Petco or Petsmart will help. Go without your dog and practice as though you were working with your dog - I know, weird - but doing this can get you started at home.
Question: TRaining?? If i just do 1 hour cardio will i loose weight? or should i do some weights too?
Answer: Cardio is what you want to do for the majority of weight loss, and weight training is more for toning muscles and building muscles, both of which you won't really notice until you lose the weight covering the muscles. So keep going with the cardio, and do remember to keep yourself challenged so that you can keep pushing yourself slightly further than the last time, that way your body won't get used to the same stagnant routine.
Question: What kinda training dose an officer in the military go throw is it similar to basic training? Is an officers training for the military similar to the basic training enlisted go throw? What do officer do in training how is it I'm thinking of becoming an officer. My other question is what is the difference between regular officer training and some one who is going to be a lawyer or a Chaplin in the military how dose their training differ? The only reason i ask is cause on the air force website the training for officer sounds different the the training to be a lawyer which is still an officer.
Answer: You have three ways to become an officer in the military: ROTC through your college, going to one of the military schools (West Point e.g.) or getting your college degree first and then applying to OCS (Officer Candidate School.)
If you go the OCS route, you still have to go through regular basic training in the army, then you go to OCS, which is a more advanced kind of basic for officers.
If you are going to be a lawyer, you have two options: You can be a currently practicing lawyer and go in that way, or you can become an officer in one of the other ways and then apply for law school training.
As a chaplain, you don't do anything that other people do, because you're not really a "soldier" per se. You are ministering to soldiers. And as your job is a spiritual one, you don't even carry a weapon. Chaplains have their own recruiters, and I'm pretty sure that the requirements are like this: you must have a seminary type degree in your religion, equivalent to a master's degree. You must be ordained and I believe state certified. You will go through a chaplain's basic course, which is not as intense as other basic trainings.
In all cases, you must have a college degree or agree to go to college on the military's watch with the promise of future service.
Hope this helped!
Question: What training methods would you use to train nonmanagerial employees on a new billing and recording system? Would you use on-the-job training, apprenticeship training, cooperative training, internships, governmental training, classroom instruction, programmed instruction, audiovisual methods, e learning, or simulation method. I think either on-the-job training or classroom instruction would be most effective, but I would love some input. Thank you!
Answer: That depends upon the method of implementation. Is it to be phased in? ...beta tested? ...parallel processed? It also depends on the employees. Are they high school grads? ...recent hs grads? ...some college? ...older?
Classroom plus OJT seems to be the best all-around choice - but...
In the navy we would: See one - do one - teach one. By the third time you performed a task you were expected to be the subject-matter expert. I believe civilian standards are much lower.
Question: What is the training that a professional hockey player goes through? I'm doing a school project on hockey players and I tried looking everywhere on their training methods. Try to answers these two questions:
1-What are the number of hours dedicated to off-season training, in season training and pre and post season training?
2-What is the proper weight training, nutrition, stretching agility training, cardio training and rest periods of a profession hockey player?
Thanks so much.
Answer: Here is what I think. Contact a local high school or youth league coach or trainer. If there aren't any near you, e-mail the trainer for your favorite team. I have gotten several letters over the years from the Red Wings trainer(s) when I had questions. Also, ask any players you know.
Off season training is more up to the individual I think. Some work harder than others. It's all about conditioning so I imagine most players try to stay in shape somehow.
Question: What training would it take to be a true paranormal investigator? If parapsychology is a serious field, I assume that there are some well known universities out there and some well known professors, that you can get training from.
I know I have seen little diploma mill ads in the back of magazines, advertising their correspondence courses, but I am talking about real scientific training, and real scientists.
I assume you would need training in psychology, physics, scientific methods, technology and many other areas. And not be biased in doing your investigating, as it seems many are.
It seems that there are not many really scientifically trained individuals out there. It also seems that most already believe that all of the events are paranormal, and they are just looking for evidence to back their beliefs up, and they have already made up their minds.
So are there legitimate programs, and legitimate trained professionals out there?
Or are most just plumbers that do it on the side, and are very gullible?
Answer: There are no accredited universities in the US offering degrees in parapsychology. There are very few pracitcing parapsychologists in this country simply because, in all the years it has been studied, not once has there ever been a substantiable case of paranormal powers or activities.
But if you want to study it, look up Joe Nickell (probably the only real paranormal investigator out there who actually uses real science) and CSICOP.
Question: Can training classes offer anything that can't be taught from a good training manual? Hi. I was wondering if anyone would mind sharing what they know about training classes. I have been training my puppy using books and a video. He is very smart and learns very quickly. I am interested in training classes, but if they just teach the same things he has already been learning, they wouldn't be very useful. Thanks in advance!
Answer: Not only do they offer socialization, but they also know several different methods. So, if you hit a roadblock, the trainer can help you get around it.
Your dog will learn how to handle distractions, which are hard to get when you're training at home.
Your obedience training school will also have information on other programs you might be interested in, whether it's agility, freestyle, search & rescue, therapy dogs, etc.
You might also be surprised at how many human friends you walk away with as well!
Question: What type of training do you have to do in order to become an officer? I want to become an officer and I was wondering what the strength training, physical training, and any other training that I could prepare for. Also should I start going to shooting ranges to practice shooting. I have about 10 or more years before I can start training but if I start training now it will become easier for me when the time comes. Also any the information you could give me or any tips I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
i live in the US but i my family is from Canada.
Answer: What Kevin said.

No you do not have to be a good shot to join a department. Most academies would rather you come in with no or little shooting experience since then they do not have to train you away from bad habits.
If you are Canadian then just look up the requirements for any department, unlike in the US all are about the same in Canada since the main laws are Federal.
In the US check requirements for the departments you might want to join. All medium to large departments have web sites that outline requirements. They also all have recruiters who can answer specific questions authoritatively.
While many states do not require any education beyond HS most larger departments require or want at least 60 semester hours of college. You can major in anything that you like. I always suggest staying away from criminal justice as a major since it is way to limiting for a police officer. Police officers are generalists, they have to know a bit about a lot.
Question: What training is needed to become a bounty hunter? I was wondering what training is needed to become a bounty hunter? Do you need training in a law academy or is there any schooling/ training required?
Answer: I don't believe there is any REQUIRED training...however, if you're planning to go into the field, you're definitely going to want some different things. First, you'll need to be in pretty good shape. You have to remember, that many of these people are going to fight you, you need to be ready for that...which leads into #2...you'll definitely benefit from self-defense, martial arts training.
Bounty hunters that carry guns, invite a whole extra can of trouble on themselves. Many people feel more powerful/more invincible with that gun. There's a reason many bounty hunters DON'T use guns. Take Dog Chapman...he and his crew use pepper/mace foam...as do many bounty hunters I know (though I don't know any of them all that well).
Most bounty hunters are bail bondsman, and I do believe you have to be licensed for that...but for the act of going after someone jumping bail...again, I'm not sure.
Go talk to a few bail bonds companies and ask them.
Question: What training methods work for belgian malinois? I have a 4 month old Belgian Malinois. I am wanting to know (because of all the different training methods out there) if there is a certain training method that works best for this breed of dog. Is there any reputable literature out there for training this breed of dog?
Answer: www.leerburg.com
Question: How can training martial art makes a man to build his ripped muscles? Some people have been training martial art for years but they seem to look fat. Some people look so muscular due to martial art training.
Some martial art practitioners have been training a lot and they become fast and energetic but their bodies seem to be average with no muscles at all.
Answer: Martial arts training in it's self will not build strong muscles without some type of weight training program. Even if you do calisthenics, ie push-ups and sit-ups... you'll be fit but you will not have rippling muscles. Make sure you stretch out every day along with your martial arts and weight training routines. Other wise you'll be extremely muscle bound and it will effect your speed and agility. No-use being the strongest man in the world when you no longer fast enough to swat a fly.
Question: How much should I charge for creating a training manual for a company? The company I used to work for has just asked me to train a third person for my old position. The owner of the company cannot even train these people himself because he doesn't know the computer/accounting system. I am the only person in the world that can train his new employee and frankly I am getting tired of being in this position, so I am going to propose to my old boss that I will develop a very detailed training manual that will go over absolutely every aspect of the job step by step, so that from now on he can just go through the training manual with the new employee instead of begging me to train them, again.
How much would you say is a fair amount to charge for creating this training manual? It will take me approx. 2 weeks I figure, and that's working on it for a good 8 hours a day. I am thinking maybe $750 - $800 CAD.
To the person who answered first - I no longer work for this company. I don't WANT to train any more people for a job I left months ago. I just don't have the heart to say no when my ex-boss begs me to train someone new because that would just screw him over completely. But I most definitely don't care whether he would prefer me to train them over a manual! I have a life of my own, and a new job.
Answer: I don't see any reason to get greedy, no sense in aggravating a potential future reference.
Presumably, you don't have any research to do on the computer/ accounting system. You merely write the manual from personal knowledge.
I would recommend that you negotiate with the former boss for a "project rate" of between $ 75 - $ 100 /hr. With, an estimated 50% "up-front" and the balance due upon completion of the project, via invoice at the time of delivery, based on the number of hours actually expended.
If you desire, you can negotiate a proviso that the manual is your property and that s/he is only "licensing"it for internal "proprietary" use and that any changes will be done by you.
Get everything in writing. (Write the agreement yourself.)
Question: How and where do you get training and a license to be a falconer? And where do you buy a falcon after getting the training and license? Do you buy the falcon as a chick, or an adult? Do you have to train the falcon yourself, or can you buy them already trained? I really want to train one myself, once I get the training, license, and falcon... Please help!
Answer: Matters what country you are in. Each country has different laws and rules.
In North America you have to go to the local Fish & Game Department pass the regulations (have a clean record), find a falconer that's a General or Master to Sponsor you for the first two years of your falconry career, take a test and pass it, and get all utensils (such as a Mews, jesses, and a perch for the bird) and make sure they get inspected by the DNR (Department of Natural Resources). After you get all of that stuff and pass you'll have a falconry license as a apprentice falconer. When you become a apprentice falconer you only have the option of catching a Red-tailed Hawk or American Kestrel (you are allowed to trap a Red-shouldered Hawk if you live in Florida and you are a apprentice, and you are allowed to trap a Northern Goshawk if you live in Alaska and you are a apprentice). You're are not allowed to trap or buy anything else that I mention unless you pass apprenticeship and become a General or Master falconer which you become after you've been a falconer for 2 years. You can't also catch or buy raptors if they are chicks if you a apprentice either. After you pass your apprenticeship you can buy other Raptors and have the option of owning 2 birds. You can also catch wild raptors as chicks and train them up to an adult (bad thing about this is that you can't release them back to the wild and most of them can live to 40 years).
If you live in the United Kingdom, it's WAY more easier than in North America. You just have pass a test and get all of utensils and then you get your falconry license and you'll be allowed to buy any bird you want (unless it's rare or endanger) without all that trouble in North American Falconry. The bad thing about Falconry in the United Kingdom is that you can't trap a bird, and buying one isn't cheap.
You can get your bird train if you are a Master or General falconer in North America, in the UK you can get a trained one anytime you want in our Falconry career but the training a the Raptor is one of the best parts of falconry, so I wouldn't recommend you to get one train and train it yourself, it would be more fun if you do.
Here's some links to answer some more questions about falconry:

Falconry isn't a cheap. Remember the Raptor is a living thing also, you have to take it hunting every week if you are a falconer.
Question: When do you start training when a new puppy comes into your home? There's lots of training questions on here, so I wonder when most people begin training a new puppy. I'm talking about more than house training her too. Does it start the day the puppy comes home? Do you wait a couple weeks, let things slide, because puppy needs to settles in to the new home? Do you wait until 6 months or older?
Just curious when people think it's the right time to begin proper training.
Answer: Training starts the FIRST DAY you bring the puppy home. It takes a while, but you start immediately. NO... you NEVER wait till a pup is 6 mo old to start training him.
You can find details on HOW to do it at the websites below.
Question: At what age should you start potty training a toddler? I'm just asking because a friend of mine has a daughter who's almost 3 1/2 years old isn't potty trained. She has even attempted to potty train her. She uses Pull-Up training pants as diapers. I only ask because my sister's daughter is two years old and potty trained. My sister started potty training her daughter at 1 1/2 years old. Shouldn't my friend be started potty training her 3 1/2 year old by now?
Yes my friend's daughter is normal and she is very intelligent for her age. That's why I can't understand why her mother hasn't started trying to potty train her.
Answer: It depends on each child's maturity & intelligence, but most mothers begin training at 18months and they have them trained by 2yrs to 2 1/2yrs at most!!!
A 3 1/2yr old who isn't potty trained is a very bad way to raise a child in my opinion. It has to cause problems for the child and for everyone who has to care for her. Is the child normal? Just wondering.
Question: What training is required to fly a turboprop? Is there any FAA mandated training that one must undergo to fly a turbine aircraft, such as an AirTractor? Or, do you just need an endoresement from an instructor, or anything at all? I am not saying I would fly one without any type of training, but am just wondering if what is legally required to fly one.
Answer: Assuming you have at least a Private Pilot License and live in the USA, you'll need definitely additional ratings. Depending on the type of turboprop you'd like to fly, you'll either need a type rating if MTOW exceeds 12,500 lbs or 5,700 kgs.
Also, the FAA in the United States requires co-pilots (second-in-command, or SIC) to have a 'SIC Type Rating' for aircraft requiring a crew of two, and otherwise requires a type rating to act as pilot-in-command (PIC) to fly internationally, or over international airspace. This is in order to remain compliant with ICAO. This is outlined in 14 CFR 61.55. Such a type rating is not required for operations completely within the United States.
For some type of ratings you'll also need an Instrument rating to your license.
