Travelers
Question: What do world travelers/vagabonds do about their financial future? I mean the travelers who work only long enough to get enough money for their next adventure. I am interested in becoming just such a world traveler/vagabond, but I just wonder what will happen in the distant future. If I work and scrounge only to travel and do not accrue any savings, what will I do when I am too old to continue traveling? Check myself into a Retirement home?
Answer: vagabonds, by definition, don't give a good ------- about their future. They generally don't have anything, and they either continue working until they die, or they smarten up somewhere along the way, and start planning, often much harder, to have a retirement.
That is, unless they inherit enough from their grandparents to retire on. I know a few of those "Trust fund babies".
Question: Seasoned travelers: What tropical destination should I take a trip to in the second week of November? I want to go somewhere that has all inclusive resorts to relax with my new husband. I've never been anywhere tropical before. I'd really like the guidance of seasoned travelers.
We are very interested in Negril, Jamaica.
Answer: Australia, maybe? It'll be almost summer there and the Melbourne Cup would be going on.
There's also New Zealand. Auckland would be the warmest place during November.
Both are gorgeous.
Question: How much in travelers cheques should I bring for 4 months? I'm studying abroad next semester in Spain and I would like to purchase some travelers cheques. I have been told that they are not as universally accepted as they used to be but it is still a good Idea to have some. I already have a debit and credit card. What would be a good number to bring because I have no clue.
Answer: I gave up on travelers cheques a long time ago. Now I take a lot of cash (in a money belt) and use credit cards.
How long will you be gone? It sounds like the entire semester? That's too much cash or travelers checks. Get an account at a local bank and get money transferred there as needed.
Most credit/debit cards charge 3% surcharge for foreign money transactions, but some do not, you should check. Again, for a long period, get a local card.

Question: How often do travelers run out of juice on their cell phones? When in airports, I am curious how often frequent travelers run out of power or juice on their cell phones, making it difficult to make phone calls. And then have difficulties finding a way to quickly charge their phone back up.
Answer: Most airports have outlets if you look for them. Some airplanes have charging stations. Today's cell phones get a lot of talk time on a battery and businessmen often have a charged spare or two in their briefcase.
Question: What are the main things travelers might like to see in the Cambrian period? If they like, when to the time period, what are the main things that travelers might like to see that its interesting?

Question: How easy is it to meet other travelers on the more remote pacific islands such as Tahiti and the Cook Islands? I'm a 21 year old female looking at going to see these places on my own and while I want to get away from it all and get some space, I don't want to be completely isolated from other people. Has anyone got any experience of traveling in these places and the opportunities for meeting other young travelers? Thanks!
Answer: I don't know about the Cook Islands, but when we went to Tahiti we went to the tourist-y spots and all of the people we met were couples. Tahiti is a very popular honeymoon/vacation spot for couples. Finding singles to hang out with may be a bit of a challenge, at least in my opinion.
But don't let that stop you - Tahiti (and her islands) are indescribably beautiful.
Question: what is a Basic Travelers Allowance for a Uk citizen to travell to Saskatchewan Canada? My lady friend said she could not board a plane to come to Saskatoon Canada because she had to have 1500 pounds or 3000 Canadian dollars as a basic travelers allowance. Why do you need that to board and what is this basic travelers allowance?
Answer: Can you say SCAM? that's all that is. If her flight is paid for and she has all her travel papers she does not need a BTA.
Do you personally know this lady? Have you met her? Did you pay for her ticket?
The BTA scam originated in Nigeria, and I would be willing to bet your lady friend does not even live in the UK, if she is even a lady, is probably some dude over in Nigeria!
There are some other answers in the forum concerning the BTA and they were all found to be a scam.

Question: How do 'travelers' in the UK register vehicles and driving licenses? My understanding is that in the UK it is illegal not to register a vehicle or your driving license at your home address.
If, as I assume is the case with some travelers, you have no fixed abode or your vehicle is your abode, how do you go about registering these things and stay within the law?
Quite obviously MJ you are talking complete tosh. I went to the DVLA site before asking this question and there is no information presented about this.
For everyone's sake please stop posting ignorant answers for the sake of a few points.
Answer: Visit the DVLA website they will tell you everything
Question: How many US airport would it take to encompass 90% of the air travelers end points and start points? If you were going to start a business where you had kiosks that 'loaned out' something to air travelers at the airport before they got on a flight, and they returned the something to a kiosk at their endpoint airport, how many US airports would you need a kiosk in so that you could do business with 90% of the people flying. Assume that we only care about travelers going from one US city to another.
Answer: I'd focus on the hub cities, that's where they'll be waiting around for the connecting flights. Travelers don't stick around at end points and are usually cutting it too close at start points so they won't bother even looking at kiosks at those airports.

Question: When traveling to a different country is it wise to get travelers insurance? A lot of travel sites offer an insurance package for a fairly reasonable rate. They say it covers the cost of lost or damage materials and you're also covered for medical expenses if you get sick or hurt. Is it worth getting travelers insurance or is it just some kind of scam to get more money out you?
Im traveling from America to Scotland. We are going to be there for two weeks.
Answer: It depends where you are travelling to, but I would recommend some sort of insurance cover, check on-line to see if you can get anything cheaper.
Question: 2008 Arkansas Travelers - The worst baseball team ever to win a league championship? Thanks to the two-half season standings in the Texas League, The Arkansas Travelers made the playoffs by winning the North Divsion first half with mediocre 36-34 record. They then went 26-44 in the second half for a combines 62-78 record on the season. They defeated NW Arkansas in the division series and Frisco in the Texas League Championship series to win the league title. Has there been a team with a worse winning percentage in the regular season to win a league title in professional baseball?
Answer: It's stupid that they won. I saw them in game 4 of the championship series. I'd say however that their management was well. The reason for the fall off at the second half was because of call ups. So, no their not the worst team to win a championship, they do their job. But as a Rider's fan I'm angry, disappointed, and alone. :(
