Question: Vision!??? Can people age of 12 get dry or wet AMD???
Please answer me because i can some curved lines in my vision and im getting worried??
Answer: I think it's uncommon in 12 year olds, but I wouldn't rule it out. If anything is wrong with your vision, you should get it checked by a doctor. Tell your parents your problem and ask them to take you.
Question: How long does it take for a seniors vision to change? My friend who is 68 noticed her distance vision getting blurry a couple of weeks ago. Then a few days ago she noticed double vision while looking at a turning arrow traffic light. We went to the optometrist today and was told her vision had changed for the better, so the far sighted segment of her tri focals were now too strong and causing the current vision problems. Other two segments of her glasses seem to still work fine. Her vision has gone from a 2.50 needed correction in both eyes to a 1.25 needed correction in both eyes. Being trifocals they are expensive glasses and due to changes occurring in last 3 days we are wondering how wise it would be to immediately get the new glasses. If her eyes are still in transition then wouldn't we risk having to get yet another pair of glasses in the near future? As an expierament we went to the dollar store and got a single vision pair of 1.50 glasses and she drove home seeing better (while driving) than she had since her visin began to change a couple of weeks ago. She has been wearing her current prescription glasses for past five years. So what to do? Get prescription glasses now or wait awhile and continue using the new "driving" glasses as needed? If she needs to wait awhile, then how long should she wait? Thank you in advance for your help.
PS, This is not real important but I am curious. The eye doctor asked her if she ever saw "lightening". She hasn't, but why did he ask her that and what does seeing "lightening" just within you individual field of vision mean? Thanks again !!
You are right about the cataract!!! Doc told her she had a small one just getting started, but its nothing that needs to be immeadiatly dealt with. Are you suggesting that the presence of the cataract is reason her vision improved? It is my understanding that cataracts are relatively slow growing when they are first starting, so is first responder correct in suggesting that we go ahead and get the glasses now?
Sorry, got the answers mixed up in my head withouy being able to look at them while writing. Thanks for the information I will tell her about this and any other info that may come in! Thanks Again!
I will also be asking her the questions asked by first responder and post the info in here. We were both kinda baffled by what Doc said, and he is a well known and highly reputable Doc so I believed him. There is normally about a 2 week wait for a new patient to get in to see him, but when she told them what was happening they got her the very next day. I think he may have been a little rushed or would have explained more. She will be seeing him again and the information and questions from these answers will help tremendously in the list of questions she is taking with her on the next visit!! Thank You!
Answer: Changes towards shortsightedness in the elderly are often (but not always) an indication cataracts are on their way. She should get the new glasses and have regular checkups.
The question over lightning would probably relate to what is known as a 'vitreous detachment' a very common and nearly always harmless condition in older people. The optometrist would have been checking for indications the vitreous detachment had progressed to a retinal detachment. Don't worry about it.
Contrary to the previous post, optometrists are highly trained in diagnosing eye disease, in fact it is the main part of their job.

Question: What is the vision requirement to renew your drivers license in texas? I have eyeglasses and see well with them but they have some scratches. Would I have a problem meeting the vision requirement? How do they test your vision in Texas? What type of chart do they use? Do you have to take the vision test if you already wear corrective lenses and have that restriction? Thanks for any information.
Answer: That shouldn't be a problem although they will need to state "corrective lenses" on your driver's license. If the cops catch you without it, they can give you a ticket and maybe more.

Question: What would be a good vision statement and mission statement to live by? A vision statement is defined as a vivid description of the future that focuses your efforts, guides your decisions, planning and actions for the future.
A mission statement puts the vision statement into practice. It's more specific.
So, the vision statement is is saying what you generally want to accomplish and the mission statement says how you will accomplish it.
What would be a good one of each?
THANKS!!!
Answer: seize the day , love and understand everyone regardless, and never give up.
Question: What is the vision requirements for the following military forces? Army-
Enlisted Member:
Infantryman
Special Forces
Officer:

Marines-

Special Operations

I am 16 and plan to join one of the listed military forces above. My left eye has corrected 20/20 vision, and my right eye has 20/30, or maybe 20/40 corrected vision, (although im fairly certain it's 20/30). Would this disqualify me from joining? Thanks for the help.
Answer: . Distant visual acuity, of any degree that does not correct with spectacle lenses to at least one of the following (367):
(1) 20/40 in one eye and 20/70 in the other eye.
(2) 20/30 in one eye and 20/100 in the other eye.
(3) 20/20 in one eye and 20/400 in the other eye. However, for entrance into a military academy, distant visual acuity that does not correct to 20/20 in each eye is disqualifying. For entrance into ROTC programs and OCS/OTS, distant visual acuity that does not correct to 20/20 in one eye and 20/100 in the other eye is disqualifying.
Question: What are the vision requirements for getting a private pilot's license in Canada? I've been thinking about getting into a career as a pilot, but I don't want to get too deep into it if there's some crazy rules about uncorrected vision or whatnot. Since it's Transport Canada who appears to do the testing and their a federal agency, it's basically impossible to find any info on their site. Does anyone happen to know what the vision rules are?
Answer: It is your medical that will restrict you. For a Class 1 medical, you must have no color blind issues and 20/20 corrected vision. However, for a PPL, you only need a Class 3 medical.
For class 3, you need 20/30 corrected.
I found the TC Medical requirements..
Question: How good does your vision have to be to get a drivers license? My vision is good. It's like 20/20 in one eye. The other eye can see really good except I can't read small print from far away with that eye. How good does your vision need to be so you don't have to have "needs corrective lenses" on your license?
Answer: over all has to be at lease 20/40 with both eyes to be able to pass without corrective lenses
Question: What is the worst vision you can have and still pass a driving test? I have 20/180 vision in one eye and 20/200 vision in the other eye but I wear contacts so I'm corrected to 20/20. Could I drive without contacts?
Answer: No...why would you want to.
In most States and in Canada, and most of Europe, you need at least 20/40 in at least one eye to obtain a license.
Question: How good does your vision have to be to fly helicopters in the air force? I would like to be a pilot, but my vision isn't that good. I heard that I would be able to fly helicoptors. How good does your vision have to be to fly helicopters, and will they do lasik eye surgery on you?
Answer: It needs to be 20/20 uncorected. if you are not far off, you could TRY at the medical, and you may pass, however if you vision is REALLY not good, then im sorry mate, but flying aint gonna happen. If you join and become a pilot, and your vision deteriorates, then they will give you glasses, as it costs around £3,00,00,00 to train a pilot, their not gonna bin him if his sight deteriorates. They dont like lazer surgery, as a small percentage of patients then experience 'hazing' in low light conditions
Good luck
Question: How many degrees of vision do humans have? I am working on a 4-H project about rabbit vision. Rabbits have 360 degree vision, and I'm wondering what humans have?
Answer: Humans have a total field of view between 160 to 208 degrees
Question: How does 3d vision in the real world REALLY work? The usual explanation for our 3d vision is that, having 2 eyes, the crossed result of their slightly different vision creates the 3d effect. However, if I close one eye, I don't experience any sudden flattening of my vision; nor I think that one-eyed people have problems perceiving depth, do they? So, what's the REAL mechanism behind 3d vision?
Answer: That usual explanation *is* the "REAL" explanation.
The reason you don't experience a"flattening" of your vision is because you have a memory. Before you closed your one eye your brain had *already* worked out distances to things based on those slight perspective differences in what both your eyes had seen.
If you don't think that one-eyes people have depth perception problems, put on an eyepatch and play catch with somebody. Better yet, wear an eye patch all day, from the moment you get up, and count how many things you misjudge distances to when reaching to pick them up or to catch them when thrown at you.
Question: What vision could a person have for the personal relationship they're in, and the future of their partner? Would it be important for one or both persons in a personal relationship, to have a vision for their relationship, if not for each other too?
What would that vision do and mean?
Would the success of a personal relationship be dependent on having a vision?
Answer: i dont think so , most of the "couples" go with the flow 'cause they dont wanna expect too much , as the disappointment may come along, so I wouldnt have any vision in my relationship

Question: Why does my vision get fuzzy when i stand up and start walking? when im sitting for a while watching tv or something and I stand up and start walking, my vision gets fuzzy. A few seconds later it goes back to normal. Why does it do this and should I see a doctor?
Answer: Headrush, postural hypotension or orthostatic hypotension are terms attached to the symptoms you mention. It results from a sudden drop in blood pressure when you change positions. As you describe, it lasts for just a few seconds as the body adjusts automatically. Anemia, dehydration, and certain medications can cause this, as can hardening of the arteries.
Have an experienced person take your blood pressure after you have been lying flat for five minutes, then rapidly as you stand up.
If you are young and thin it may be normal. If you are older and hypertensive, I suggest a visit to your doctor for a check up.
