Question: What are the effects and benefits of using Vitamin E oil on your face? By using the over-the-counter bottle where the facial cleansers are in the drug stores. Is this good to apply to your face?
What does Vitamin E do for your skin anyways? Just relieve ailments or benefit the overall condition of the skin??
Answer: if you really care about your skin, take alpha lipoic acid 150 mg twice per day. it's probably probably cheaper and better for your skin and overall health.
vitamin E is fat soluble antioxidant. alpha lipoic acid is a superior antioxidant that basically can roam free throughout your body since its the only fat and water soluble antioxidant. alot of women take it for better skin and reduce aging.
Question: what are some benefits of multi vitamin? I'm on a diet.. and i ask my nutritionist if i should take a multi vitamin.. and she said no.. but on here n otehr places it says to take multi vitamins... sooo what are some benefits of multi vitamins and what are some cons???
Answer: The chief con of multivitamins is that a person can take one and think "There, now I'm covered health wise, no need to eat healthy." I'm not surprised some nutritionists discourage them. On the benefits side I suppose they're better than nothing, but they're not a substitute for eating healthy.
Question: What are the benefits of Vitamin D? What are the risks of Vitamin D level being low? How can I bring it up? My male friend recently went to have a physical. His vitamin D levels are extremely low and we are trying to find out how this may effect him.
Answer: It's becoming an epidemic. U.S. RDA are much too low & the prescription vitamin D supplements are the wrong type (ergocalciferol ). Luckily you can buy vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and the upper limits are extremely high. Current recommendations are for 35iu per pound - a 200# person needs minimum of 7000iu per day & the rda is 400iu. This amount is for minimal needs and does not account for depleted stores. Right now (March) is when our stores are at their lowest.
I personally have been doing 30,000-50,000iu per day for the past month trying to refill my stores. It is highly recommended that you have your vit.D levels tested but my research shows toxicity only at outrageous, long term levels.
Low Vitamin D levels greatly increases your risk of cancer, diabetes, MS & heart attack.
Question: What are the benefits of taking a multi-vitamin such as "One-a-Day Maximum"? What would be some of the benefits, both short term and long term of taking a daily vitamin? What vitamins do you get? How do they help?
Answer: How they help is pretty complicated but the following link from Harvard explains it in more detail than I can here:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/vitamins.html
When it comes to minerals, too, your diet doesn't always provide enough. Take a look at this link from the National Institutes of Health and click on "magnesium," for example.
http://ods.od.nih.gov/Health_Information/Vitamin_and_Mineral_Supplement_Fact_sheets.aspx
I try to eat healthy, but I know I don't eat all the foods every week that contain these minerals, so I always make sure my vitamins have minerals too.
Question: Green Vibrance, Does it work? What are the benefits? -Vitamin shake? Green Vibrance, Does it work? What are the benefits?
Answer: No, there are no more benefits than a good mixed diet will give - and the good mixed diet tastes better too.
Ingredient...http://www.blueirissanctuary.com/id525.htm
One of the supposed benefits of Green Vibrance is its ability to remove waste products and toxins created by the body's natural metabolic function. However, anyone starting a Green Vibrance regimen or any other detoxification procedure may initially feel slightly ill or weak
There have been no studies that support the beneficial claims put forth by the makers of Green Vibrance, all 'evidence' is anecdotal.
Question: Can I get Vitamin D benefits thru a glass window? Terrible state of Washington had only 37 days of sunshine in 2007 so I need to know this.
Answer: If in doubt take Vitamin D supplements but make sure they are D3 and not D2. D2 is a synthetic form which does not have the same benefits. Living in the East of England I know what you mean.
Check the RDA but if you check with any of the groups that actually know about vitamins (just google 'vitamin D') the amount we're told to take is nowhere near enough to give the benefits or protection possible.
Question: What are benefits of using E vitamin oil for hair? I don't see E vitamin oil in listing for "carrier oil" that a shock because a lot ppl say it a great oil to help hair , so what is benefit again?
Answer: "The hair and the skin are derived from the same tissue as the nervous system, so to take care of your hair, you need to take care of you nervous system. Vitamin E is fat-soluble, that is, able to penetrate the fatty areas of our tissues. As it does so, it neutralizes toxic oxidants and protects oxidant-sensitive membranes. Thus vitamin E is justifiably known as an antioxidant, and for helping to prevent age-associated increases in oxidative insults to our bodies. Vitamin E has now been shown in cell culture experiments to protect cells of the nervous system from the degenerative action created by the overproduction of the neurotransmitter, glutamate."
Overall, Vitamin E is a good anti-oxidant that protects the nervous system, which is ultimately where your hair and nails come from.

Question: Do you believe in the benefits of Vitamin Water? I am addicted to XXX acai-blueberry-pomegranate. It is not only because of what it says that it does, I just think that it is a beverage that is not too sweet. Do you believe in it's benefits?
Answer: Vitamin Water has all of the vitamins added that it says it does, but it's packed with calories - almost the same as a serving of soda.
The problem with vitamins, is that if you don't consume the nutrients that help your body break down and absorb the vitamins, then they'll just pass through your body and come out in your urine.
If your having more than 2 Vitamin Waters per day, then you're probably consuming too many calories from liquids.
