Question: Can you take prenatal vitamins for hair growth while on the birth control pill? I've been trying to grow out my hair and a lot of my friends have told me that they take a prenatal pill to promote hair growth. I want to try, but I am on birth control. Will taking the prenatal pill affect my birth control pill?
Answer: There are other vitamins out there that aren't for pregnancy that can help your hair grow out. Look it up or ask you local pharmacist.
Question: Is it safe to take prenatal vitamins for hair growth? I am nearly seventeen, and I am not pregnant. As a matter of fact, I am even on a birth control medication.
I would like to grow my hair very long. I have researched online and found that taking prenatal vitamins often gives positive results in growing long, healthy hair.
Although, I do wonder: Is this a safe method? Especially considering the fact that I am already on a birth control medication; could this in any way be harmful?
Answer: Any multivitamin would do the trick. There seems to be some urban myth that prenatal vitamins help you grow better hair, when that's really caused by pregnancy itself. Increased blood volume and blood flow all over caused by pregnancy itself benefits skin and hair alike. It gives pregnant women that healthy glow, and causes less hairs to fall out every day (at least until a few months after pregnancy when they fall out).
Question: Is it safe for a male to take prenatal vitamins for hair growth? Im a guy and want to take prenatal vitamins to help my hair grow faster. Does this work for guys also?
Answer: One of the posts here says, It's a vitamin, so it's safe. Not the whole story--it's safe but only for its INTENDED USE. Not safe for you, esp. as they have extra iron.
Men and post-menopausal women shouldn't take multivitamins with iron, and if their diet is adequate, they will be fine. Too much iron in your body (for men OR women) creates a serious condition that hardens organs and can be fatal (search for hemochromatosis for specifics on this). Just because something is safe/approved by the government, or just because something is natural, doesn't mean it can be used without risk.
Prenatal vitamins have megadoses that are calibrated for the creation of a new complex human being and to maintain the health of a women, who is incubating that new human and sharing her own systems with the developing life. Both of these metabolic processes are far and away more demanding on vitamin needs than just growing a hair from an existing follicle. So prenatal vitamins are not meant to help with hair growth. I'm not really sure that anything makes your hair grow faster than your genetic program tells it to grow. Besides iron, there are other vitamins and minerals on which you can overdose and create serious health problems pretty quickly. Don't mess with the prenatal vitamins.
Here's a link to a few points about normal human hair growth, and as one of them says, nobody knows for certain how the body controls the cycles of hair growth.

Question: Do the hair growth vitamins make your hair grow thicker all over your body or just your head? I dont know you might think its a stupid question but i was interested in taking vitamins for my hair but then i started thinking that the head wasnt the only place you have hair so would it make a persons hair grow thicker everywhere?
Please feel free to recommend any.

Answer: In order to hasten hair growth, a nutritious diet is mandatory. Increase your intake of green leafy vegetables and drink plenty of water. This improves blood circulation to the scalp and hence helps hair grow faster.
The occurrence of split ends is another factor in obstructing hair growth. Damage to the protective part of hair called the cuticle results in the splitting of hair ends. Since they cannot be repaired, have them removed. Trim your hair at regular intervals to promote faster hair growth.
A gentle scalp massage twice or thrice a week promotes faster hair growth as frequent hair massages stimulate blood circulation
In case you are experiencing sudden hair loss, keep in mind that it may be a result of acute stress. Try to live a stress-free life by doing yoga or meditation. Rely on the natural methods of eliminating stress from your life. Do not be dependant on stress-relieving medicines for this purpose.

Question: prenatal vitamins for hair growth while taking birth control? i want to start taking prenatal vitamins for hair growth, but i'm also taking birth control. is that ok or can you not mix the two?
Answer: Check with your doctor. You shouldn't start taking prenatal vitamins or any daily vitamins without talking to your doctor first because you could end up taking too much of certain minerals etc.
Question: What vitamins should you take help hair growth? Does anyone have anything else? I was looking for which vitamin helps hair growth,i thought it was d? but not sure. I was wondering also if anyone knew any leave in conditioners that really help. I know there isn't a miracle but i just want a boost in vitamins. Thanks (:
Answer: These are some things that I do, and my hair's growing pretty quickly:
Get it trimmed frequently, then there is no problem with split ends. Also, wash if twice, the first time gets the dirt and whatnot from the day, and the second get to the oils at your scalp. When you condition your hair, try to avoid your roots (this can sometimes clog your scalp pores and stunt growth). Also, drink plenty of water. Take Selenium and a Vitamin B compund, along with an Evening Primrose Oil vitamin. Taking multivitamins don't hurt either. If you use heat on your hair (straightener, curling iron, blow dryer), then let your hair go natural some days or blow dry on a cool setting. Along with those, you can do daily scalp massages - which stimulate blood flow to your hair. Good luck.

Question: How long will it take for vitamins for hair growth to start working and til I will notice? I am not taking capsules just for that, I am just getting A LOT of more vitamins in my diet naturally now, and I was wondering how long til I will notice, or will it acutally start to work? any info will help! Thank you!
Answer: Well the body is meant to gradually heal and grow so even with the vitamins it will be a while until you see results but it would be fster than it growing on its own. Also to make it grow faster you should cut hte tips of your hair off. It makes it grow faster too.
P.S. Peoples hair grow at different rates

Question: 13 year old wants to use pre-natal vitamins for hair growth? My daughter wants to use Prenatal vitamins to make her hair grow faster. She is 13 will it do anything to her body? Do you think she will be okay to take some? If we do get them is walmart a good place to get them? And should she take 2 a day? THanks so much!

Question: Prenatal vitamins for hair growth when not pregnant? I just got prenatal vitamins for my hair and I'm wondering what your experience was (or the experience of someone you know). My hair is kind of unhealthy right now. It's mostly from heat and other products. Has anyone else with the same type of hair used prenatal vitamins and how did it work out?
Answer: so try this...regular trims are a must, about every 7-9 weeks.(if your hair is really healthy then up the trims to about every 12 weeks, a trim is just a snip off the ends) if its been awhile since you have had a trim then inches may be called for to get to healthy hair. i use vitamin e on fresh washed hair.(its a vitamin that can be purchased where you buy vitamins, cut open capsule, squeeze into hand, rub hands together and apply to hair) dont message into scalp. if you get too much then just rewash it. hair will feel slightly sticky until dry then it will be nice and soft. it tames the frizzies, deep conditions and makes hair grow about three in a month. it takes about a month for the growth part of the e to kick in. the other benefits are instant. dont brush your hair but maybe three or four times a week to message the scalp, dry hair, never wet, i use a wide tooth comb at other times. brushing breaks off hair. biotin is cheap and also promotes hair regrowth and growth. i also have the biotin shampoo that i got from a vitamin store online.(puritans pride.com or vitadigest.com) five bucks for a big bottle and a big bottle of E is about 8 bucks. the biotin is about 3 bucks. i now take my fingers and message my scalp about five times a week, along with the brushing thats a good way to do it without damaging your hair. apply two or three capsules of e to dry hair and message into scalp and hair really well, put damp towel in microwave for 1 min to get hot, then quickly wrap head, a dry towel can be placed over that to help hold in the heat, leave on for 15 min, shampoo well, makes an excellent hot oil treatment. good luck, AND some people will argue about regular trims, your hair does grow from the roots, yes, but if your hair is not trimmed at the bottom, the it splits, get dry and brittle not to mention thin looking from no trims at all and frizzy. then your hair starts to break off at the bottom and giving you the appearance that it never grows. so to make hair grow as fast as possible and keep it healthy, then trims are an essential part of hair care. look on a ruler and check out less then half an inch and if your salon does not know what that is then take a ruler with you, i have. i added beta carotene vitamins to my regimen. i found out that along with the biotin it is very very good in promoting hair growth. they were five bucks for a bottle of 100. got them at walmart. the biotin and e can also be purchased at walmart, and adding all this up is pretty cheap to get great hair. the shampoo is now available in the new food lion stores. just found this out.
Question: What are good vitamins for hair growth and healthy skin.? Besides prenatal and multivitamins what other vitamins are good for thos purposes.
Answer: if u eat garlic alot, it gives you more hair growth. You can use garlic powder on just about everything--potatoes, meat sandwhiches, chicken/beef/pork, on a salad, in a stir-fry, in rice, on steamed veggies, etc etc.
There are lots of herbs and such out there that help healthy skin, i just cant remember what they are right now. But also drinking the right amount of water for your body weight is very imporatnt and will help ur skin. go online and search for "daily water intake calculator" and when you find a calculator, put ur weight, height, etc in, and it will give you the right amount of water to drink. I weigh 320, I have to drink a bit over a gallon a day, but I dont have any problems with acne or anything anymore since ive been drinking the right amount. If the amount u start drinking is more then u would normally drink, you will be running to the bathroom all the time only during the first 2-5 days because your body ispushing out all the toxins, but once ur purified, you go pee the normal amount.
