Backpack
Question: backpack?? ok,
i'm starting school tomarrow what do i keep in my backpack?? it's an easy Q just write what you keep in your backpack. and do you keep pantiliners pads or tampons in your backpack?
thanks!
Answer: well for a start I hope you have books in there and yes feminine hygene products are good to have but keep them to a minimum in your bag and keep the rest in your locker (trust me you dont want to go pulling out what you think is a pencil and nd up with a tampon in your hand or reach in for a book and spill 30 pads all over the floor). I always kept essentials in my back pack, like toothpicks, make-up remover, an extra pair of panties... incase I sprung a leak or aunt flo was early.... always keep at least $5 on you incase of an emergency, tissues are good to have too....gum is good incase you have stink breath after lunch! (lol) Thats all I can think of for a bag... your locker should be your saving grace though I kept EVERYTHING in there! best of luck
Question: Going backpacking. How can I carry backpack plus rather large camera bag? I prefer camera backpacks such as lowepro computreker, is there anything out there same capacity but more versatile, like a shoulder bag or even better a backpack/shoulder bag.
Please help, much appreciated
To clarify I need to carry a backpack plus a camera bag?
Answer: If I understand correctly, what you are asking is how do you carry your camera (preferrably in a location where it is easy to reach on the trail) when you are also carrying a full camping backpack with tent, sleeping bag, etc., yes?
I do a fair amount of multi-day backpacking trips and sometimes carry my Canon Digital Rebel SLR (and a large 35mm Minolta camera before that). What I have found is the best approach is to get one of those triangular-shaped camera cases (where the lens points down) and where (this is the important part), you can un-clip the shoulder strap. You then get a couple of carbiner clips and clip the camera case directly to your pack's front shoulder straps (with each shoulder strap linked to one corner of the case). The result is that the case is essentially strapped to your chest in front.
This works pretty well... a little weight in front actually balances out against the pack on your back and your camera is at the ready if you need it on the trail. You can stow the case's shoulder strap and any extra lens in your pack to switch around in camp as needed. The only drawback is that the case in front obscures your view of your feet somewhat which can seem a little weird at first and be a bit awkward if on a really rough trail with a lot of delicate footwork.
I have a Case Logic case that I use this way and I can fit either an SLR with a telephoto lens or a regular lens and an extra wide-angle ready in the bottom. There are other cases that would work just as well for this setup too.
Whatever you do, if you are carrying a full backpack, you do not want any more straps hanging around your neck and shoulders.
Question: What is the best backpack for a teen girl? I have been looking for a backpack for school and the only one I like is the hurley new icon backpack at pacsun, but it's no longer available. So, I what backpack do you think will definitely change my mind and is available online or in store. I like Pacsun (but recently dont like any of their other backpacks), Hurley, Zoo York. Please help me!
Answer: Do a lot of people at your school wear backpacks? Because if you do, I suggest you get just a big tote, if they allow it, because a lot of them are really cute and cheap, plus you'll be starting a new style - I started using totes and a week after there were a bunch of girls with them too.
If they don't allow it or you just don't want to, try Macy's or Hot Topic or Quiksilver for that kind of style...
Question: What is the largest backpack that I could get for school? I need to buy the biggest backpack I can for school. I don't want a luggage case or anything, I want a real backpack. I can't find one big enough anywhere.
So, what's the biggest backpack available that I could purchase?
Answer: Have you looked at JanSport Big Student?

Google: ebags discount, coupons to find some discount codes to use. They also sell this backpack at lots of other places.
Target has basically the same backpack, same quality called the JanSport Supermax.
My son has used both and they are very good. They fit quite a bit of stuff. For 8th, my son had three 1.5" binders, plus at least 3 textbooks in the main pocket. There is another pocket he put folders and paperbacks in. This year he has a huge 3" binder and 4 - 5 textbooks he needs to carry in the main pocket, can only go to his locker at lunch. It's very sturdy. I can barely lift the stupid thing when it's full!
Good luck!
Question: If my backpack is too heavy for carry on, is it ok to check it in luggage? I'm trying to pack light, and I've squeezed everything I need into a backpack. I suspect the backpack will be too heavy to be carry on luggage. Do you think it is safe to check in my backpack? Will it get lost? It's a slightly bigger than usual L.L. Bean backpack. Should I just pack everything into a huge suitcase instead?
Answer: I check backpacks all the time when I travel overseas for hiking trips. Just make sure all your straps are secured (so they don't get ripped off) and any removeable straps are taken off and stored inside, so they don't get lost. Hook your hip straps together (around the back so they are over the pack and not hanging loose) and you should be fine.
OH and don't forget to clearly label it with your name, address, phone number, etc.
Question: How do you wear a backpack if you also carry a purse/handbag? I normally use shoulder bags, but I need a solution for carrying more stuff to the office and to college at night. Wearing a backpack would make my life easier -- I'd rather have my hands free than have to carry an additional tote or wheel something behind me. Besides, I think a backpack would be be better for my back and neck. But I always wind up slinging it over one shoulder with my handbag (which defeats the purpose of a backpack), because it's a hassle to wear both a shoulder bag and a backpack. The straps get bunched up and it's harder to access stuff. Do you put your handbag inside the backpack? I don't like investing in a good designer handbag if it gets hidden away. But I can't carry my backpack around teh office, so I do need both. Help, please! I need a system that works. Thanks!
While it seems to be a sensible answer to say "carry less crap around," doing so isn't possible when you live and work in NYC, using public transportation, are out ALL day long, and go from work to school. I need to bring my everyday stuff as well as shoes for commuting, my lunch, my textbooks, homework, etc.
Answer: I'm typically someone who carries a bunch of stuff, and going to school I find that carrying a backpack everywhere I go is beneficial - because you never know when you will be waiting a long while and that would make it a good time to study (I at least leave it in my car).
My purse is too big to put in my backpack, and I've tried eliminating only what I need and getting a smaller purse, but that didn't work, so I carry both.
To carry my purse I have to have a long strap. I put my backpack on, then swing the purse strap around my neck so that it would keep from slipping. This way I don't have to hold on to anything, everything stays in place the way it is.
If you can manage it, I would recommend getting a small purse to put in your backpack, only be careful about leaving it in there! There have been times when I've left my wallet in my backpack and then driven around without a driver's licence! Simply because I totally forgot that it was in there.
For now it might not be convienient to carry around a designer purse if you are going through so much hassle, I'd say you're better off buying something cheap and managable, and when you graduate, reward yourself with a nice purse!
Question: If you carry a backpack across campus. What is the work done by your vertical carrying force on the backpa? If you carry a backpack across campus. What is the work done by your vertical carrying force on the backpack?
Answer: Unless the backpack (or you) changes elevation by climbing hills or stairs, the work done is zero.
Force and displacement are vectors, and so cannot be perpendicular to result in net work.
Question: Why backpack leafblowers need to be gaspowered? Is it possible to make a eletric backpack leafblower? What is the use of the backpack. I can only find gas powered backpack leafblowers. Anyone know why?
Answer: They are made to be used by people that are doing a lot of blowing. Thats why they are backpacks....to make them easier to carry vs. a hand held one. So if you are going to be out blowing a bunch of crap around you need to be able to move around to do it.....So you don't want to be tied to the house with a cord.
Question: How do you assemble a backpack and sleeping bag for camping? New at camping and hiking. My 12 year old is in Boy Scouts. He has packed light, but the backpack is still so bulky. We can't use a framed backpack because he will have to crawl through some low areas and push his stuff through the opening. I know there must be an easy way to put it all together. The load has to be light enough for a 12 year old child to carry on a caving expedition. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated!
Answer: I'm 14 and started when I was 12. I live in Alaska, so this may not be what you're looking for, but I'll do my best. First, I always try to bring the smallest and lightest bag that I have that works for the coldest it should get. You can always layer up if you get cold. Also, internal frames are good, except for that you'll need to put most items on the inside from what I've experienced. Go through your pack when you're done packing to make sure that there's nothing that you don't need or is worth its weight. One extra tip- Use some clothes as a pillow, as it keeps them warm when it's cold and doesn't take extra space.
Question: What is the best way to wash a dirty backpack? I really need to clean my backpack, the surface of it is filled with dust and it's very noticeable because my backpack is raspberry pink. What kind of things would be best to wash my backpack with? And how would I do it? (I want to clean the inside of it too) And I have a L.L Bean backpack...if it helps any answers to be more specific.
Answer: You can wash that in the washing machine. Use a delicate cycle. You could even use a delicate fabric detergent. Do not put it in the dryer. Hang it up to dry.
Question: What is the best laptop backpack for college? Soon, I will be attending college (I know, it starts late). I will be commuting by train to and from school everyday. I need a backpack that I can carry my books and laptop in. It has to be well built and safe for my laptop. My laptop is a 15.6" Dell Studio. What would be a good backpack. Thanks.
Answer: Oh I just answered to similar question before two minutes.
If you are in college than I think you must not carry that bore and black general laptop bags.
Here are some laptop computer cases which can speak your style and about you as well. Searched a bit and found it ... see the source for photos ...
Question: How do you put a backpack in a locker with a small amount of space? I need someone to tell me how to put a regular backpack in a locker with enough space to only fit books. Please note that I must put the backpack in the locker, and in most non-messy manner as possible.
Answer: Beat up some nerd so he'll let you use his locker.
:D
Violence IS the answer.

Question: What is the coefficent of the static friction between the backpack and the table? A backpack full of blocks weighing 60.0N rests on a table in a physics laboratory classroom. A spring with a force constant of 160N/m is attached to the backpack and pulled horizontally. If the backpack begins to slide when the spring (k=160N/m) strectches by 2.40cm, what is the coefficent of the static friction between the backpack and the table?
Answer: Find the friction force f = kx, then compute μs = f/normal force = f/mg.
Question: Can I put a 100% Polyester backpack in the dryer on HIGH heat? My daughter has been diagnosed with head lice & I need to treat her backpack (I've already done the rest of the work to the house, toys, coats, bed, her head etc). The school nurse said to throw it in the dryer on high heat for at least 20 min. I just don't want to ruin the backpack. Should it be okay?
Answer: It could melt into an icky ball of goo, even if there with a wet towel. What will also work is sticking it in a plastic bag (garbage bag) and putting it in the freezer overnight. Cold kills lice and nits just as well as heat.
Then wash the bag and allow it to hang dry. This will wash their dead carcasses away.
The freezer treatment also works on stuffed animals, pillows, and other hard to wash items.
