You will notice jump roping is very difficult and frustrating but stay with it and soon you will be jumping rope for 30-60 minutes per day! Question: How is it possible to burn more calories than you consume if you have the energy to burn calories? If calories are the fuel that provide your body with energy how is it possible for the body to still function when it loses more calories than it gains. For example, when a car uses up all of its gas its unable to drive because it has no more fuel. How are humans able to use calories they don't have to further burn more calories. If we use up all of our calories shouldn't that also mean we used up all of the energy that enables our bodies to move? Is there another energy source besides calories?
Answer: You've figured out what no one seems to understand. This is why all diets fail--because in order to diet you have to be hungry all day every day while your body reluctantly uses its fat stores to supply the energy it's not getting from what you eat.

Question: How much calories should i burn a day if i want to lose 2-3 pounds every two weeks? I want to lose 2-3 pounds every two weeks so how much calories should I burn off a day to reach that? And I excersise about 2-4 hours a day and some days i burn calories off in the 500's and some days 700 calories oh and one day i burnt off 1,000 calories in a day so yeah how much should i burn off?
I eat about 300-500 calories a day but then i burn them off
Answer: There's literally no way to tell you the answer to that unless you know how many calories you consume in a day. Just try making gradual, but permanent changes in your exercising patterns, like going for 3 minutes longer, or more times a week.
Question: How to burn the most calories from fat? I know there is a distinct difference to burning fat calories and food calories. I'm wondering what combination of exercise and method will burn the most calories *from fat*. I'm having no problem maintaining my weight but I am not burning any more fat at this point it seems, so I imagine this equates to me not burning calories from fat and instead burning off calories from what I'm eating. So I just want to get an idea of what I should be doing to burn the most fat calories. Ty.

Question: Do we burn calories with any body movement or do we have to sweat to burn calories? Do we burn calories while doing regular body movements like, walking around the house & lifting our arms to reach for things?
Or do we have to sweat to burn calories?
Answer: Yes you do burn calories with normal day to day activities. . . even sleeping because as you sleep your metabolism is burning calories, but in the case of losing weight you have to work a lot harder then moving around the house.
Question: How do you burn calories when you sleep? I've always been wondering how you burn calories when you sleep, because it always seems like i weigh more before i go to bed, and i lose a pound or so when i wake up again in the morning. How did i burn those calories?
Answer: You burn calories whenever your body does work. How does your body do work when you sleep?
-- Brain activity
-- Heart pumping
-- Breathing
-- Regulating body temperature
-- Repairing muscles
-- Body movement
-- etc...
Another part of your weight loss when you sleep is straight fluid loss from sweat. Remember that you are always sweating - even when you sleep. Along with sweating, you also have a certain level of humidity in the air you breathe out.
Question: How many calories would the average person burn on a normal day? Like going to school, walking around. Catching buses downtown.
Walking a dog for about 15 minutes, doing some house work.
Because I know you burn calories through out the day, so what would like be a minimum?
Like atleast how many calories do you think a 15 year old sophmore, 5'3, 112 would burn on a regular day?
Answer: There are a number of online calculators to help you figure it out. For most people it's between 1800-2200 calories. Because you weigh so little it would be on the lower end or even below (just imagine how much more energy you'd need if you had an additional 50 or 100lbs strapped to you for example).
Here's a pretty good calculator: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm - seems you'd be around 1750 calories per day.
Question: What is the best workout to burn calories to lose weight? To burn calories how many minutes do you have to ride a bike?
To burn calories how many mindutes do ou have to walk for?
To burn calories how many situps do you have to do?
Answer: You need to bike for at least 30 mins per session before your body starts to burn off the calories, from the stored fat.
Same for walking.
Sit ups are strength exercises that help you build and strengthen your muscles. When muscle's strengthened, it helps to elevate your metabolism while you're at rest, hence you burn off calories.
You need to do at least 10 mins per session, 3-4 times per week, to strengthen & build muscle.

Question: How can yoga burn calories. As it is said that its good for tackling obesity? I know doing exercises such as jogging, cycling burns calories because unless we burn calories we wont become slim.
But how can yoga burn calories.
Answer: Any exertion burns more calories than just sitting. How many calories you burn per minute or per hour depends on the intensity of the activity. The more intense, the more you burn per minute. But also, the more intense, the less likely that you will be able to do it for very long.
Yoga can be mild, moderate or vigorous. The more vigorous, the more calories you will burn.
But keep this in mind, it is great for your body no matter how many calories you burn.
And as you become more fit, you will be able to sustain greater intensity for a longer period and burn even more calories.
Best of health and fitness!

Question: How do I burn calories i take in by using crunches? I'm trying this new thing where I do crunches to burn off all the candy or sugary stuff i take in, but i dont know how to start because i dont know how many crunches burn off a calorie, if someone could give me a ratio, it would be awesome!! (ex. 50 crunches burns off 10 calories)
or what would be a better way to burn off the calories besides crunches? that burns them off faster?
Answer: "crunches" will do NOTHING to burn off calories!! What Americans call a "calorie" is actually a "kilocalorie" - the amount of energy needed to heat 1000 milliliters (1 liter) of water by 1 degree centigrade.
You need some sustained, aerobic exercise such as running or walking a few miles a day, biking, tennis, basketball - someting where you are always on the move.
The ONLY way to lose weight (fat; not just water) is to burn off more calories than you take in. Simple as that!
My advice: It is a LOT easier to reduce caloric intake than to keep it the same and use exercise to burn it off !!!
Question: How many calories do you burn by thinking? Only a few people realize that we burn calories when we think. So when we do our homework, you're burning calories. My questions is how MANY calories do we burn by thinking? Just by reading or doing homework, how many calories do we burn like in a minute or in an hour?
By the way, anyone coming here to say "none" or "you don't burn calories by thinking" you are wrong. We burn calories on everything you do. We burn so little doing it that you never really realize it.
Answer: I think it was about 100 calories an hour if you are reading/ doing homework, so I guess its about that much with just thinking. Thats why after you do your hw, you are so hungry
Question: How do we burn calories and lose weight by sleeping? I've heard this before, is this true? And how? I thought by staying up at night and not sleeping (and not eating either while staying up at night) would cause weight loss bc youre up and moving around? It doesnt make sense. Why burn calories while sleeping bc we are not moving or anything?
Answer: Well your body burns calories simply when its functioning, the heart is pumping, the lungs are drawing in oxygen, your liver is removing toxins, and etc. When your sleeping its basically an extended fast for your body because it doesn't have any immediate energy from the food you have recently consumed so it metabolizes your body's sources of energy. Also when you sleep your body's natural anabolic growth hormone peaks which is great for metabolizing your body and building muscle or just growing.
