Organic Food
Question: Organic food? I buy organic food all the time, it's pricey but I'd rather eat organic food. My question is why do we have to pay for organic food ? Shouldn't everyone be able to eat organic ?
Answer: Unfortunately it's a situation of supply and demand. At the moment the demand is higher than the supply and until it catches up, it's going to cost more. Keep buying and get everyone else to buy and it will encourage farmers to convert to organics and the prices will drop.
I've been buying my fruit and veg from Macro (Australia). The prices can be reasonable. And I've been ordering all my cosmetics and toiletries online through www.envirobeauty.com Prices are reasonable and I don't have to pay postage.
Hope this helps.
Question: Organic Food? I know organic food is free from pesticides, herbacides, and unnatural fertilizers, but what about all the pollution it gets when it rains? Is anything grown outside truly organic?
Answer: ~*~ Great thought. I guess that the only completely organic food would have to be grown in a greenhouse hydroponicly or in sterilized dirt.
Question: oRGANIC FOOD??? IS ORGANIC FOOD BETTER FOR YOU, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BEWTWEEN ORGANIC FOOD AND THE REGULAR FOODS, BESIDES THE PERSERVATIVES???????????????
Answer: How does growing and eating certified organic food help?
Certified organic food is grown without the use of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides, plant and animal growth regulators (hormones), antibiotics and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This can significantly contribute to increasing the health of our air, soil and water not to mention that of the plants and animals we eat!
Also, by choosing to buy and eat organic food, you are helping to create alternative markets for our farmers- an opportunity to move away from global markets dominated by transnational corporations and back to more local markets where they can once again provide healthy food to members of their communities.

Answer: Go to the library you will find heaps of info in books and a lot of it is just commonsense they also sell organics at local markets on a Saturday like at willunga markets etc and I think the brick works have an organic stall as well if you want to grow organics don't use any chemicals and pull weeds out by hand, get some chooks to use there poo to fertilise and if you have the room rotate your chook yard with your veggie garden it works really well if you go to your local health shop they can give you heaps of info and there is a magazine that comes out you get it from the newsagent and its all about natural way to grow every thing can't remember the name of it but I think the writers are from Boron Bay and its thin and in black and white ink.

i ment to say other than the price**
Answer: There is more farm land that is conventionally manged so conventional food is a lot easier to obtain at this point in time. Less than 12% of farm land world wide is organically managed meaning over 88% of all farmland is conventionally managed
Question: Is organic food really good for your health? I'm not a strict vegetarian or health conscious person. But thesedays, if there were organic products and regular products, I'd choose to buy organic products believing its gonna do something good for my health. Are there any real difference in organic food and others? Like let's say I have this organic pasta. How good is it for me than eating regular pasta?
Answer: Dave J - that's illegal and should be reported.
Organic food is not going to be more nutritious for you.
The difference is that organic producers are taking care of their land and working it to get the last possible perfect strawberry possible. They're not using mass-produced pesticides and fertilizers that upset the natural balance of flora and fauna. As a result, they aren't poisoning the land they grow food on. This means they produce less, so they do have to price their products higher.
Yes, there are natural pesticidal compounds in organically grown food. However, each plant has its own chemical formula and thus there are many variations, whereas commercial producers use only a small group of pesticides. Thus, while the numbers are still small, we get a much larger cumulative consumption of them than of any given natural pesticide.
Another good thing about organic farming is that the smaller farms are more likely to produce foods that are not the same as the large corporate farms. For instance, tomato breeds may be chosen for their flavor rather than their looks. This will help avoid the weakness of monoculture that corporate farms are courting.
Question: What are the benifits of eating all organic food? I know that a lot of people are turning to all organic diets. Is organic food really more nutritious than normal food? Why is non organic food bad for you? Do YOU follow an all organic diet? Why or why not? Thanks.
Answer: One of the huge advantages of organic foods is that they haven't been doused in pesticides.
Organic foods can be more nutritious, richer in vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids than non-organic.
Genetically modified – GM – food isn't used in organic products.
none of the additives lurking in processed and fast food are permitted in organic foods.
the flavour is just so much better.
Non organic food is not bad for you but its just not as healthy as non organic. Although I dont follow an all organic diet( mainly because the price difference) I do give my daughter all organic simply because she is just a baby.
Question: What organic food organizations/corporations do you swear by? I watched a special on kvie about where our food comes from and it was very disturbing. I already knew it was bad,but to see what they've done to the american farmer, patenting seeds?! Back to the question, there are a lot of things that claim they are 'organic' yet they are still affiliated with monsanto or those like them. Even Tom's Organic Toothpaste is owned by Colgate! Tell me what organic companies you love and why. Are any of these places still mom and pop?
Answer: Some people believe (like the person above me) everything anyone tells them. Eden is a good company, I mean, its bad enough that our government can't even tell its' own citizens what they're eating! But then to mess with papers and documents in order to alter information so companies like Monsanto, Syngenta, Novartis etc. have the ability to keep their monopoly on the food supply. The fact is, if people don't want to eat it, then they shouldn't have to. Doesn't matter what people want to preach, how does a "free" nation not have this freedom? Eden, bionature (certain products) and other organics at small local stores are your best bet. Also, if you go to

these websites give awesome resources and information. :)
Question: What are the benefits of eating organic food? I've been thinking of switching to eating organic because everyone says how healthy it is. But really, what's so healthy about it? When you look at the back of labels of a lot of organic food, there's so much fat, sugar, and sodium... which is NOT healthy.
So what is it? What's so healthy or great about organic foods?
Answer: You've got to consider the types of food you are eating. Organic junk food is still junk food!
There have been studies done that prove that there are more nutrients - vitamins and minerals in organic food (although I can't remember the links).
Pesticides and fungicides which are sprayed on to foods are highly toxic - if they are designed to kill insects (life) then they are also going to be harmful to humans.
But to be healthy you need to look at your whole diet - eat as much fresh raw fruits and vegetables as you can and limit processed foods.
Question: What is the difference between Organic food and Normal food? I really want to know whats the difference between organic food and just normal food. Myself i eat organic food as i think it tastes much more better but i want to know what the difference is?!
Answer: Organic food, is food that is grown naturally, no chemicals, no pesticides and no hormones to make it grow bigger or better. People wonder why our children are physically maturing much faster then they did 20 years ago and it's the hormones that are put into the food. CHicken gets it to make them bigger, cows get it to make them produce more milk. veggies are sprayed to make the grow quicker so there can be a second harvest and it's affecting our children. 13 year old girls look 18 now..ok off my soapbox now.. but organic is better for you. however it's more expensive since they are not using all of the things that the other farmers are using to get extra crops or larger produce.
hope this helps.
Question: What is the best organic dog food brand that doesn't contain preservatives? I don't want to be feeding my 2 month old Papillon with dog food that has preservatives in it. I've read and heard that more and more people are switching to organic foods without preservatives in them, and that the preservatives are being replaced by Vitamine E.
Where can I get some of this dog food, and what brands are the best? Are there specific sites online that you can order the dog food from?
Answer: Innova is a great brand.
Question: Can you recommend a widely available organic food brand? I enjoy eating organic when possible (and affordable) and I often buy the O Organics brand of food available at Safeway. Are there any other brands of USDA certified organic foods that are fairly affordable and widely available at major grocery stores like Safeway, Top Foods, Fred Meyer, etc.?
Please, no answers about how organic food is a "scam." Also, I do shop at farmer's markets and health food stores occasionally. I am just wondering about the major grocery stores like I said above.
Thanks!
Answer: cascadian farm...ive tried their granola and some of their cereal and all of it was very good tasting. i see it everywhere vons (safeway) /ralphs/albertsons etc.
amy's is very good too for frozen food...try their bean and cheese burritos (red wrapper) and vegetable lasagna especially
Question: What are some celebrities that support organic food choices? My friend and I are doing a project on organic food and this is a big part of it. We need names of celebrities that eat organic. Help please? We'd really appreciate it.
Answer: michelle obama >.>
Question: How do we know for sure that organic food is really organic? Since food production and all that is controlled by a few MNCs, how do we know for sure that organic food is really organic, and not just GM/pesticide-sprayed food produced by the same MNCs, but with deceitful packaging?
Answer: Look for the USDA seal. It's green and white. That's how you know it's truly organic.
Question: what are exact differences between food and Organic food? Hi everyone, I am wondering what are the differences between the regular food we buy at the store with organic? I know it has more vitamins, minerals and less bad stuff ,so could you please explain how much. Also how dangerous can be non organic food?
Thank you!
Answer: The only difference between organic food and "regular" food is that organic foods are grown without the use of certain chemical fertilizers, insecticides, hormones, etc.
People who favor organic foods want to avoid eating these chemicals and hormones and also want to reduce the environmental impact of commercial farming practices.
Organic foods do not have more vitamins and minerals.
However, for processed foods, like soups, rice mixes, cereals, crackers etc, the organic products tend to focus more on wholesome, natural nutrition. Sometimes they may be more nutritious than their non-organic counterparts, but that's not because the ingredients are organic. It is because they've prioritized nutrition and are willing to spend more money on it (and pass that cost on to the consumer).
Question: Is there any hard evidence that organic food is better for you? I am trying to feed my family organic food and I was just wondering if there is proof out there that organic is better.Organic food is so expensive and I don't want to waste my money if there is no point.I have searched the internet, but can't really find anything saying yes or no.Does anyone know?
Answer: From what i've seen it all turns to crap once it's in your body anyway. We have survived hundreds of years without it. Just another way to take your money. Seriously if it didn't say "organic or organically grown" on it when you bought it would you be able to tell the difference?
