Overeating

Question: overeating? ok, so this past year i gained a lot of weight from overeating and basically just eating whatever even if i wasn't hungry. So could i lose this excess weight if i just ate when i was hungry and not exceedingly eat and binge??

Answer: I believe that it depends on the types of foods you're eating. Years ago, I lived on fat-free foods like pasta and bread. I even ate licorice thinking "it's fat-free". I was always starving!!!! Over the years (I'm 39) I've learned to stick with whole foods and I've been able to maintain a healthy weight.(5'4 120). I've learned to stay far away from sugary "low-fat" foods and learn as much as I can about healthy, nutritious foods. I eat lean protein, vegetables, some fruit, and try to eat at least 20 grams of fiber a day( I like Fiber One) and less fat. I've recently stopped eating cheese, and I have already noticed that I've been losing weight. When I used to live on foods like pasta, bread, and low fat foods, I was actually gaining weight by the minute simply because I was ALWAYS hungry and therefore obsessed with food. Now I limit my carb intake to just WHOLESOME carbs (no white, enriched, stripped garbage) and my weight has stabilized. Junk carbs cause CONSTANT hunger...avoid them at all costs!!! Low carb gets a bad rap, but the most important message of it is to stop eating REFINED carbs. This is the reason for the obesity problem right now....plain and simple. The reason you are hungry all the time is because the refined, simple carbs turn immediately to sugar by your body and create and up and down effect on your blood sugar level. I also believe that if you are not supplying your body with the proper nutrients, it will crave MORE food in an effort to try to get what it needs....resulting in overeating. Your body requires certain nutrients and will crave food in order to somehow get them.
