Dieters
Question: How many dieters go to a doctor before they start their diet? I need some statistics on dieters and they approach their diets. Any good websites were I can find these kind of statistics? By age? how many people crash diet and things like that?
Answer: Probably less than 1%, unless they go to ask for diet pills.
Question: Is it true that dieters are at higher risk of having protein deficiency? I always thought it was impossible not to get enough protein, ut I read somewhere that dieters miss out on a lot of protein and it's really unhealthy and can cause fatigue, weakness etc. It also said that for this reason, dieters should make 10% more of their diet from protein than non-dieters. Is this true?
Answer: what u said is right when dieter does not eat enough protein and lift some weights
this protein deficiency can be reversed by eating low fat protein and exercises your muscles ( lifting some weights):)
Question: Is there a correlation between dieters and bad spelling? Specifically, the spelling of the word lose, as loose. Do they fatten themselves like they fatten their words? I can't count how many times I've seen that misspelled here by dieters.
Answer: Dieters have more reason than most to use the word 'lose' so they will spell it incorrectly more often simply because they use it more often. The statistical test would be to find another group who use the word 'lose' with frequency, such as sports fans, and see if they do any better. A chi-square(d) test would be indicated, for anyone mathematically inclined.
If you want to collect the data, here is what you must do:
Read posts by dieters and count the number of incorrect and correct spellings. Read posts by fans and do the same with them. Set up a table that looks like this:
uses uses
'loose' 'lose'
N₁₁ N₁₂ Dieters
N₂₁ N₂₂ Fans
Thus, for example, N₁₂ is the number of time dieters spelled 'lose' correctly.
Email me the values in the table, and I will do the statistics for you.
You DID ask.
Question: How much weight can yo-yo dieters lose in 2 weeks? I want to know the maximum and minimum of the weight yo-yo dieters can lose up to 2 weeks if they go on a diet
Answer: up to 18 pounds but the diet is all liquid and no drinks with sugar!
Question: To successful former-dieters: How did you curb your appetite while you were dieting? And what would you do differently today (if anything) if you had to go on a diet again.
Answer: Drink lots of water. Eat 5-6 small meals a day. Eat healthy....
Question: Do you have any good salad recipes for dieters? I am going on a diet and want to keep it interesting. Any good recipes?
Don't want anything involving mayo, too fattening.
Answer: only veggies and lemon juice no seeds, croutons, or dressing use green leaf lettuce it is better for you than ice burg
Question: What is the best supplement for dieters? What do you think of diets such as The South Beach Diet, which bans ALL carbs (even fruit) for the first two weeks. Is this necessary or correct in order to stop craving carbs? Is it healthy? What type of supplement that is appropriate for this?
Answer: There is really none, just walk or bike more and eat what you want.
Question: Is Coke Zero a godsend to dieters or is it a setback that makes weight loss harder? It has zero calories, so can I drink it to keep hunger away as if it were water and gain no weight?
Answer: Definitely a godsend.
Question: What is the average amount of weight dieters want to lose? Obviously it differs and depends on the individual but I would like to know what is the average target weight loss for people who want to make a change to their bodies.
Answer: 3 stones is the average people want to lose.

Many people tell it's good for health. However after recently reading so many articles about the bad effects of sugar I was wondering if Sugar Cane juice is good for health or not?
Answer: though it is good for health in few ways but the people who are diabetic and can become diabetic due to heredity obesity etc should avoid it moreover stall are not clean they contain germ etc when mixed with juices which is not good for health
Question: Why do crash dieters gain weight when they start eating normally but anorexics dont? What i mean it when someone goes on a crash diet they might loose tons of weight. But they end of gaining it back and them some. But anorexics when they start eating again they don't really balloon up,they gain slowly and steadily, Could it be the crash dieter is binge eating? Can someone explain this?
thanks
Answer: They say that it takes you roughly the same length of time to gain weight as it did to lose it, that is why most people that crash diet also tend to put weight back on quickly. How long did it take you initially to lose the weight? Many people in your situation will have lost most of their weight within the first few months, and then it is more a matter of avoiding gaining it back that keeps them restricting.
After restricting, your body needs to build itself back up! After doing so, it also tends to overshoot your starting weight slightly as it is repairing itself, and allowing everything to stabilise again. After your body is functioning normally, it should sit at a pretty stable weight, maybe even lowering slightly.
Lo Carb like Atkin's with treat days like weekends or party nights has kept me lean and muscular with cheek bones for years. There's loads and loads of lo carb recipe sites on the web.
Question: What is a good protein drink for dieters? My husband wants to lose a little around the middle and wants a recommendation for a really good tasting protein drink. He's interested in your personal experience with them. In other words, if you haven't tried it and loved it, don't recommend it.
He's like to use it as a meal replacer for breakfast.
Hopefully, we can find it at the store, but if we have to buy online, we can.
Thanks!
I'm looking for a name brand protein powder you mix, or ready made liquid protein drink.
Answer: Its pretty good a meal re placer bar or shake. Check out The Max's Protein Website or Musashi
Question: Low carb dieters, can you give me some lists/menu ideas of things you eat through out the day.? Also any success stories would be cool.
Answer: Healthy Eating:
5 A Day Fruit and Vegetables
Eating the recommended 5 a day servings of fruit and vegetables is the most important element of any healthy eating plan
The Health Benefits
For the last eight years the Dept. of Health has been trying to drive home the "5-A-Day" message. Research proves that eating at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day has very real health benefits. It can help to prevent heart diseases and some cancers. Evidence shows however, that many of us are not listening to this healthy eating advice. Recent research shows that only 1 in 7 of us achieve the 5 a day quota.
Dept. of Health to issue 5-A-Day Logo
To further drive home the healthy eating message, the Dept. of Health is introducing a new 5-A-Day logo initiative in Spring 2003. The Dept. of Health's logo will clearly indicate the fruits and vegetables that contribute towards the 5 portions it recommends you to eat each day. The logo will appear on fresh, frozen, tinned or dried fruit and vegetables and will indicate how many portions the food will count as. The criteria to use the logo is strict and aims to encourage you to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables.
In an effort to encourage healthy eating more research is being done by the Dept. of Health to help clear up confusion about what counts towards 5 a day and what doesn't - several processed foods with added salt, sugar and fat, despite containing fruit or vegetables will not at present qualify for the logo.
What stops you from getting 5 a day - Time, Money, Dislike All Fruit and Vegetables?
Lack of time for healthy shopping
Look out for canned, frozen and juiced fruit and vegetables. They are just as nutritious. Buying your fruit and vegetables in this way also means you have plenty to hand when you need it without having to spend time stocking up with fresh produce every few days. Healthy eating doesn't mean you can't make use of convenience foods.
5 a day is too expensive
Don't be fooled, you could find healthy eating better for your budget. Fruit and vegetables (excluding exotic / imported ones) are surprisingly cheap. An average banana costs 20p - less than most bars of chocolate / crisps from the vending machine - and provides more in the way of nourishment for less calories.
Choose fresh fruit and vegetables in season, not only are they cheaper they will also be most flavoursome and at their best.
Markets also tend to be cheaper than supermarkets, particularly if you catch them when they packing up for the day.
Alternatively opt for supermarket branded tinned or frozen fruit and vegetables.
Dislike All Fruit and Vegetables
With such variety of tastes, it's hard to believe anyone can dislike them all. Also remember that tastes change as you age and therefore things you detested in your youth (like brussel sprouts...) may be a lot more palatable now! Try a different fruit / vegetable each week until you find some you enjoy.
Working Your Way to Five A Day
Make it a mission to start working to your five a day quota. Remember you don't have to include all five portions overnight - your body probably won't thank you for it! (A sudden change can cause uncomfortable bloating and gas). Also don't rush out and buy a heap of fresh fruit and vegetables - to watch it rot in the fridge / fruit bowl over the coming week! Build up gradually, make it a habit and remember each extra serving is a step in the right direction. Try these healthy eating tips for including more fruit and vegetables:
Healthy Breakfast
Have a glass of 100% pure, unsweetened fruit juice
Slice some fresh fruit over your breakfast cereal or toss in a handful of dried apricots / raisins
Try a banana sandwich made with wholemeal / granary bread for extra fibre too
Make a delicious fruit smoothie from fresh fruit. Or add some skimmed milk / low fat yoghurt for a more creamy consistency
Healthy Snacks
Look out individual portions of carrot batons, dried apricots, raisins and grapes at the supermarket - grab these instead of chocolate / crisps
Make some crudites - carrots batons, celery sticks, baby sweetcorn, asparagus tips - to enjoy with a low calorie dip
Keep a piece of fresh fruit on hand - and ensure you eat it before you reach for high sugar / calorie snacks
Healthy Lunch
Add tomatoes, cucumber, mixed salad leaves to your sandwiches
Toss a selection of fruit / vegetables and salad leaves together for a delicious alternative - drizzle with a low calorie dressing and enjoy with a crusty wholemeal roll
Make your own vegetable soup for colder weather
Healthy Evening Meal
Try to include at least one vegetable with your evening meal
Add sliced vegetables to stir fries and disguise grated carrot in homemade dishes
Make a fresh fruit salad for dessert
Healthy Eating Out
Order a pure, unsweetened fruit or vegetable juice
Request a side salad or vegetables instead of chips
Order a fresh fruit salad for dessert
What is a Portion of Fruit and Veg?
1 apple, banana, pear, orange or other similar sized fruit
2 plums, satsumas, kiwi fruit or other similar sized fruit
1⁄2 a grapefruit or avocado
1 large slice of melon or fresh pineapple
3 heaped tablespoons of vegetables, beans or pulses
3 heaped tablespoons of fruit salad or stewed fruit
1 heaped tablespoon of raisins or sultanas
3 dried apricots
1 cupful of grapes, cherries or berries
1 dessert bowl of salad
1 small glass (150ml) of pure fruit juice
Healthy Eating with Weight Loss Resources
Your Weight Loss Resources Food Diary keeps a tally of your fruit and vegetable servings each day. Our calculation is based on the principle that 80g fruit or vegetables = one serving. Whilst, for simplicity, this is an approximation, it proves to be a good indication of your fruit and vegetable intake, and will help get to 5 a day.
Try This.............. Hope it Helps?
Question: I have been drinking dieters tea, whichh includes stevia and senna. Will this help me to not gain weight? I just totally binged on icky food and feel gross. I have been drinking super dieters tea with Senna and stevia. Will this help me to not gain the weight from the binge? How does that work?
Answer: I'm telling you from experience- no. All senna does is stimulate your intestine to push the already digested mass out. You'll get cramps and doing this too much can make you constipated b/c you'll lose colon sensation.
Once the food hits your stomach, it's starting the digestion process. Just forgive yourself and resolve to eat a lot of veggies and apples-- natural stomach-fillers with a laxative effect all their own :)
Question: Why do you feel that a lot of dieters ignore the Low Carb/High Fat diets? Seems as though there are lots of good reasons to give it a second look.
Answer: It makes no logical sense and sounds to good to be true. It goes against all the health info given out be the AMA, AHA, ADA and when you do discover low carb and you do discover the health benefits you wonder what else they are lying about. There's this misconception that low carb is unhealthy and high carb is healthy, when nothing could be further from the truth.
Low carb doesn't mean high protein, protein levels are just on the higher side of adequate and for most people don't really change from their previous way of eating and the thought of 65%+ fat doesn't sound that appetizing, but you think mayo, ranch dressing, butter, fatty meats & cheeses, cheesecake & ice cream and it's not so bad.
Most people starting out misinformed about low carb want to do a low calorie, low fat, low carb diet with fruit and then complain that they tried it and it didn't work for them. I had one lady tell me this, I went back thru her questions & she asked if she could have diet coke on atkins because she was starving just eating egg whites & milk. sigh
Then you have insulin resistant, people that no longer process carbs properly that gain a tremendous amount of weight on high carb diet, they switch to low carb and lose the weight but then go back to "normal" eating and don't understand why the gain all the weight back and blame low carb. (Isn't insanity defined as doing the same thing over & over and expecting different results??)
Low carb has changed my life. I try my best to get people to rethink their ideas about dieting. It breaks my heart all these people starving themselves to lose a few pounds, when in essence they are converting their bodies to fat storage machines. Then they hit 300# and do the gastric bypass or lap band surgical operation. They still don't change their eating habits and gain all the weight back again, along with various complications from the surgeries. Six years later when they are at 300#, then maybe they are open to listening about low carb.
I know someone's listening to me. I get all kinds of hate mail, but I get enough thank you's, you've helped change my life to make it worth while.
You will lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you'll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.
If you starve yourself by lowering calories lower than are needed for the body to function, your body will freak out and will want to store every ounce in case it doesn't get nourished again. You need to give it adequate nourishment so it doesn't slow your metabolism down to adjust for lower calories.
Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.
Carbs are addictive and can be disastrous to our health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs and eat one every time you want "something" have huge omelets for breakfast, with bacon, a lil onion, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops for lunch. Get pork rinds and eat them with tuna salad. Steak for dinner. Make a huge sugar free cheese cake for dessert. Eat so much you won't feel deprived of anything. By the fourth day, your addiction will be gone and you can start making healthy choices.
High insulin levels unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.
Dr.Atkins was a cardiologist, low carb was a health plan easier sold as a "diet" Read any of his books for easily understandable science. Lutz "Life without Bread" & Taubes "Good calorie, bad calorie" are excellent books that dispel all the nutrition myths.
Reducing body fat and increasing muscle mass will have you in awesome shape in no time. Good luck!
Question: What is a good cheese for dieters? Hi. I'm trying to drop about 10 lbs and my big weakness is cheese to eat on cracker or little bites with pretzels.
Can you give me some tips on what a good cheese would be for this that lower fat/calories or if those little wedge things are good?
The only thing I hate in a cheese or dip is strong garlic.
Thanks!!!
Answer: Kraft fat free singles are perfect for sandwiches and omelets, and are only 30 calories. Laughing Cow Light Cheese Wedges, (which I assume are the ones you mentioned before) are also delicious and spread onto crackers easily. They come in 3 different flavors, one of them is garlicky though, so if you aren't a fan of that, I would stay away from that one. The Original Swiss flavor is the most versatile, not to mention dee-lish!
