Healthy Ways To Boost Your Energy
Question: What are good ways to take better care of myself? The Bible says your body is a temple and that you should take care of it what are pracitcal inexpensive ways to take better care of your self? What are ways that you take care of yoruself to be healthy and strong? Thank you for your answers and God bless.
I have just been very tired and fatigued as well are there any ways to boost energy level and feel better and not so sluggish?
Answer: Drink lots of water instead of sugary soft drinks. That alone will go a long way toward making you feel better. Cut back on sugars. Get some excercise. Even a walk a few days a week will help a lot. Eat raw vegetables occasionally. They are better for you than cooked ones.
Question: Vitamins/minerals that gives energy boost, appetite suppressant, fat burner...etc? I'm really trying to lose weight...the healthy way, of course. I am on a pretty strict non-processed foods diet and exercising 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes. I am not overweight, just trying to get fit for the upcoming spring season :)
I was wondering if anyone has any advice/insight on vitamins/minerals that help:
boost energy/supress appetite/antioxify/help burn fat with exercise.
(I need them to be available at any target, walgreens, cvs, walmart, gnc, vitamin world, etc.)
Thank you for all your help! much appreciated.
Answer: As a natural health consultant , I will tell you that research has suggested vitamin pills really don't seem to help much.
Banana's are high in fiber which helps you to feel full and they are packed with vitamins and minerals to help you keep on track.
Green leafy vegetables are also packed with much needed vitamins and minerals and the have very little calories, celery burns all the calories in it, just by how much energy it takes to metabolize itself. Carrots make a healthy snack and they are filled with nutrition.
Milk is a near perfect food, it that if you choose skim milk, it has 9 grams of protein and only about 90 calories. Protein helps stabilize your blood sugar and there for decease food cravings.
Exercise helps to decrease the appetite as well as gives you something to do. It also burns calories and builds muscle, which can also increase your basal metabolic rate. If you exercise in the morning as soon as you wake up, this can help increase your BMR for the day.
There is no magic pill. If you take stimulants, they have the potential of doing great harm now and in the years to come. All diet pills on the market work by using some sort of high potency stimulant. Do not take any of these without your doctors consent.
Question: boosting energy? what can you do or take to boost your energy for working out?
dont include any drugs b/cus im only 16 and not consuming any with doctor permission or not
only natural healthy ways please
Answer: what you can do is condition yourself. if you work really hard you will feel like superman/woman after awhile and have a natural boost. if you stretch and and stuff like that before and after you work out you will see an improvement in energy levels as well. drink water. i might even recomend staying away from many of those 'workout drinks' unless you know what you are doing.
Question: good way to exercise at home, become more healthy, or boost my immune system? im only 18 years old but im already starting to feel out of shape and unhealthy. at the moment i cant afford a gym membership due to the bills i owe for college, but i would still like to exercise at home or outside. i am a healthy weight (5'7", 120 lbs) but i would like to build more muscle, become more flexible, have more energy, and just feel more healthy overall. im not looking to loose weight or fat. It just seems as though i am always sick (fevers, rashes, stomach viruses, urinary tract infections, swollen lymph nodes and glands, colds, etc.) im hoping exercise will help boost my immune system. i would be willing to buy free weights or any -inexpensive- equipment that would be required. Also any diet information about boosting your immune system would be extremely helpful. if anyone has some websites or any information i would be very grateful for your help
Answer: get some dumbells and an exercise bench and there are tons are routines you can do. An exercise ball is also cheap, but fun. For cardio, you could do jump rope, get a jogging trampoline, or the Tony Little Gazelle is fairly cheap, but fun and easy to do.
Question: Question about juicing and calories/my diet? I want to start "juicing" as they call it.
I have heard it's a great way to boost your energy and become healthier overall.
If you think about it, the idea is really great. Most people don't eat the correct amount of fruits or vegetables they need, and with a juicer, you can pop 5 fruit in, drink the juice, pop 5 veggies in, drink the juice.
My question is, if you DO pop 5 fruits or veggies in, is the resulting juice the same in nutrition as if you ate all 5 of the fruits/veggies?
And is the caloric value the same?
Let's say I ate an apple, then an orange, then a banana. All of those calories probably add up to around 300-400 something?
If I were to put the same fruits into a juicer, and drink the juice, would the calories be the same?
Also, is it ok to make juicing a part of my weight-loss diet?
Could I substitute eating the actual fruits and vegetables with just drinking glasses of the mixed fruit/veg. juice?
For instance, could I make a mixed drink for every meal and drink that instead of eating a meal?
Answer: yes the calories are the same. if it's all still raw it won't change anything.
fruit is great but remember to limit consumption to 2-3 servings a day. don't go eating tones of fruit!
making juices is fine as long as you are using fresh fruit/vegies (not bought juice). I don't think you should replace many meals with juices and especially not all of your meals! you need carbohydrates, grains, protein etc that mainly comes from food.
try not to go overboard, maybe something like
breakfast - cereal/musli/oats (1) with skim milk
JUICE at 10:30ish
Lunch - sandwich with whole grain bread (salmon or chicken would be good)
JUICE at 3:00ish
Dinner - lean piece of meat (red meat, chicken or fish) with some wholegrain pasta or rice + chili or something
that's just an example. you should eat small meals at least every 3 hours and juices would be a good way to eat meals between breakfast and lunch or something.
good luck
Question: Please help me, im on the edge of giving up, its a long question but i really need your help, please.? I have been trying to diet for over a year now and its getting to the point where its leading me to depression, and i have done everything like starving myself, 'detox' crash dieting ...everything accept a healthy weight loss diet because i wanted to lose loads of weight straight away(bad idea, yes i know) and in the long run i ended up putting on a stone and a half extra weight than what i started off with a year ago
But now i have finally got my head round the fact that the only way i am going to lose weight is by healthy eating, a balanced diet, exercise & patience... even though i have been attempting to lose weight for over a year i have done a lot of research on dieting and actually know a lot about it and how to do it...sort of, even though i never listened to the advice myself until now...
I have finally come up with the perfect balanced diet that SUITS ME!!!!...and all the food in it is something i enjoy and is healthy which i think is key to a good diet and i have stuck to it for about 10 days now (which is amazing for me!!!) and i have lost 5lbs (which is even more amazing for me!!!!)
This is what my diet plan is:
Breakfast (alternate every 3 days)
- Cherrios with skimmed milk
- Good for you jam and extra light butter on 2 wholemeal toast
- Raspberry oatmeal made with skimmed milk
- All with a glass of orange juice and food supplements and vitamins
Through the day snacks ( Every 3 hours roughly)
- Apple
- Banana
- Shape yoghurt
- Pack of Walkers baked sour cream and onion (low cal and low fat)
Meals (changes daily)
Mon + Thurs - Piece of coley fish, boiled rice and peas
Tues + Fri - Tin of lentil soup and 5 crackerbread
Wed - Beans on extra light butter wholemeal toast
Sat - 2 fishcakes, good for you chips, peas and a small amount of ketchup
Sun - Good for you frozen ready meal cooked dinner
In the evening
- Options hot chocolate (the low cal one) & a good for you bakewell slice
And I drink plenty of water through the day
And have the occasional cup of tea with skimmed milk and sweeteners
And to beat cravings I have some sugar free gum when needed
All the 'good for you' things i have mentioned are low in calories and fat
All this usually averages from 1100 calories - 1300 calories daily
(which is a hell of a lot more than what i use to try and diet on, and i never feel hungry and i have energy which is a first)
Exercise -
I either do a Kathy smith ultimate workout video (lots of good toning and stretching techniques plus cardio)
Or I do about an hour on the cross trainer
(love both and im seeing small results already)
I do exercise at least 5-7 days a week
Do you think this is a good diet and exercise plan for me to stick to lose the weight i have been trying to lose for over a year, and get myself healthy, happy and fit?????
I am 17 - female - 5 foot 2 and at the moment I weigh 125lbs/8stone13 and my goal is 108lbs/7stone10
And don’t tell me i don’t need to loose weight, i know im in the healthy range for my height, age ect but im not comfortable with myself okay so please do not bring that up or criticize me for wanting to lose weight, just because the internet says im in a healthy weight range does not mean i feel happy with it and feel and look good, i just want to lose that extra fat that keeps me down, tone up and give myself that confidence boost i really need! okay.
Plus i know the diet is not 100% absolutely perfect, but to me its good enough and seems to be working and keeping me happy.
After i lose the weight (fingers crossed) i want to start eating more healthy food, learn to cook and make healthy meals and snacks, and look after myself in general as well as try different types of exercise
What i need your help in is... i just want to know what your opinion on he whole thing is... do you have and tips or ideas for me to make this diet a bit better, or if there are things that are really wrong with it (bare in mind i have created this to suit me and my likes)
Is there any advice on me to boost my confidence and feel positive and stick to this diet for even longer and make sure i don’t give up?
Any advice, tips, opinions etc would be gratefully received
Thanks for taking the time to read and help :)

Answer: The key to a good weight loss program is Diet and Exercise, Even though your diet may have a few issues ,The important thing is "your making a sound effort to make healthy choice's and as long as your satisfied with the food's your eating and still managing to lose weight , your doing fine.Try not to lose more than 1 to 2 pound's a week , This rate is healthy.People who try to lose more almost Always regain the weight rapidly. They also risk health problems such as gallstones and chemical imbalances. Think of your decision to lose weight as a turning point in your life. The healthy changes you make are not temporary measures--- They are a whole new way of life for you. You are creating a whole new you.
Question: What should i do. Help with my situation ;o.? Ok, first off i want state the following. I'm 15 and around 145 with 13% body fat. Reason for me stating that is because i'm going to lose weight and gain more muscle mass. I have a few questions in regards to what i should do because i'm on the ball about this. I was thinking of 1 of the following 2 choices. First choice, adjusting my diet(to a healthier and more nutritious diet), working out everyday 5days a week( cardio, weights,ETC ), but while working out i also take creatine. Before, i get flamed saying " Oh you need supplements to gain muscle" or some $hit like that. Let me tell you first that our body naturally makes creatine, so no im no adding a supplement im just adding more of what i naturally have. The reason i want to take creatine is because of 2 reasons, I heard it provides you with more energy thus making workouts longer in extents. I also heard that it increases muscle mass because your muscle cells hydrate with water and gain muscle mass. The main reason i want to gain energy is from the energy boost because i won't have to take as many carb rich foods and other foods with a lot of carbs. That way i burn calories faster.
Okay, option 2 which probably everyone will agree with. Adjust diet, and working out. No supplements or creatine or anything. Ya i know bad choices but eh i was wondering.
Also, one more question... Should i burn the fat off and then work on gaining muscle. Or do a combination of the both? I'm not quite positive. Thanks again for the help
Answer: creatine is naturally made in your body, but if you take too much of it your body eventually forgets how to make its own creatine. so don't go crazy if you take it. Second, creatine DOES NOT INCREASE MUSCLE MASS!! That's a bunch of crap. Creatine absorbs water towards your muscles, which is good because water is needed for protein synthesis, but there will always be more water than protein. So after the protein has synthesized you have lot's of left over water in your muscles. So the amount of muscle mass you gain from creatine is extremely small, around 2%. Creatine just makes your muscles look bigger cause they have a lot of water in them, but it doesn't make them stronger. So you end up not putting on that much muscle mass.
For the energy solution, there are many supplements that contain very small amounts of creatine that you can take to give you energy. I recommend something called Jacked 3D.
Question: I heard that exercising before you have eaten burns body fat and not food you have eaten and also that it....? boosts your metabolism for the rest of the day, is this right?
I go swimming in the morning and don't eat until I have come home, but which time is usually dinner time and I eat a healthy balanced meal that my mum has made me. I snack on dried berries and nuts on the way home to get some energy back. Doing this has lost me 6lbs already... and it can't be just water as I drink a lot of water throughout the day.
Answer: its better to eat carbs before a workout and im not talking about junk food im talking about like a slice of 100% whole grain bread (non processed) or fruit (like apples oranges grapefruit or berries)(notbannanas or mangoes or watermelon their loaded with sugar) or and vegtable (anything but carrots they have a high glycemic index) and healthy carb is easy to burn off so its better for you
Question: Please Read! Do you have symptoms of bipolar, anxiety, depression? I would appreciate if you read this, I believe it will help anyone with these symptoms or anyone that wants to be in a healthy mood :)
Well I just wanted to let you know things that I've been observing and doing for the past year that has helped me so much with bipolar, depression, anxiety. Seriously, I can't even sleep for days without my heavy loads of medication, but these ways of doing things really helps with all of this. At first I thought it wouldn't help then, I just tried and found it really helped. Here are some things that naturally helps that you can do on your own.
First of all never call your self sick or label yourself. Just treat yourself for your symptoms, like a cold in a way. Notice your symptoms, like when you notice a cough, treat it, but don't obsess over it, and you'll notice improvement the best. Remember things can always be worse so make the most of what you can as you try to improve your situation.
The body works by chemical reactions and foods are chemicals consumed to help the body carry on things that the body needs to do. So it's important to get all nutrients needed. Take half a multi-vitamin a day, try taking vitamin b-stress complex daily, and take omega 3-6-9 supplements which is proven to help with nourishing the brain.Take it for a few weeks and you'll notice the difference.
It is also very important to get sunlight daily which helps boost the mood. Exercise helps boost the mood and and take care of excess energy. It helps with better sleep at night.
Make sure you sleep and wake up at a regular schedule. Sleep is very important to help the mind heal and to be in a good mood. Get 8hrs of sleep each night. No more than ten because too much sleep can make you feel groggy.
Another thing is try to change any negative or stressful thought you have to an optimistic one. Even if it doesn't feel like you believe it, tell yourself you believe it. I once was told everything is love, atleast some sort of love, and everything else is your own perception. Jealousy, hate anger, resentment takes away calmness from people, and a sense of peace in ones' mind is important. it's also important to have a general love for humanity.
Also stay away from stimulating things, no hair spray, markers, chocolate, tea, coffee, horror flicks. Anything that causes that high or rushed feeling causes stress on the body.
Hope this helps you guys, message me if you have any questions or wanna talk
Answer: You seem to be missing the main ingrediant of mental health issues called mal absorption due to gluten intolerance and the hormonal imbalances it causes.
Question: Belly fat and crohn's disease help? So I've been looking online for some foods that will help me out. I'm 18 years old, 5'0 and weigh 132 lbs. I have been plateuing at this weight ever since my latest flare up last year where I lost about 20 lbs and gained 10 back while on prednisone. I am really unhappy with this weight because most of it is gathering in my stomach, making me feel fat and bloated. I try to go to the gym and do excersize but I am easily worn out and tired. I try to do 20 minute cardio but running is impossible and I have to use elipictical. I also try to go 4 times a week but I am a busy college student. It is also really difficult to maintain a healthy diet. I am on the meal plan here and they do not really offer a good amount of healthy food, that is also tasty, and also does not irritate my stomach. It is almost impossible to find such a combination here and I cannot afford to buy food outside of my 3,000$ a semester meal plan. I have a large appetite and i am very fatigued as well, so neglecting to eat food in order to maintain a low calorie intake to lose weight never has worked. I am looking for the best way to lose this stubborn belly fat, while also not irritating my condition. I have heard coffee and ciggarettes curve appetite, and I have been drinking coffee almost every day and smoking ciggarettes. However, the ciggarettes are starting to make me feel a lot worse in many different ways (from lungs, to chest, to throat, to stomach) and making excersize harder, although I do enjoy how they boost my happiness level, lower stress, increase light-headedness, etc. I feel like I will eliminate ciggarettes easily as I am not addicted and I am feeling bad because of them, but I may have one on occasion, maybe 2 a month max. I also try to maintain a good sleeping schedule but it is not working out so well. I neglect to take vitamins and iron every day as I am supposed to, and i am not really sure why. I really love eating oranges and pineapple, but they don't always have pineapple in the dining hall here and when they do i stock up on it. I also do eat a lot of processed foods. It is all that there is here. I am surrounded my vending machienes, cravings, etc. I find that smoking marijuana at night helps relax me and keeps any irritation in my stomach at temporary bay, but it also makes me eat a large amount of processed foods. I also really love to eat pretzels, the cookies there are availible here. My favorite lunch is a grilled rye sandwhich with roast beef and salami, lettuce and mayo but it irrates my stomach now. What is a really healthy sandwhich I can eat every day? Every place I go online tells me to eliminate all these foods but i cannot possibly do that. There is a sandwhich station at the school and sandwhiches are the easiest and most reliable food here, as other food changes daily. I try to eat a lot of oranges and bananas and pineapples, occasionally having an apple. I am so conflicted between three goals, looking good (losing belly fat), enjoying my recession (eating food that I think tastes good, that I havent been able to eat in the past), and not progressing into a flareup (avoiding food that is supposed to be really good for you, but hurts your intestine, like food high in fiber like cereals which i love, dairy, raw fruits and vegetables, everything....) While also maintaining a good nutrient balance so i have the energy to get me going through the day. I also avoid alcohol as much as possible, as my liver is debilitated from taking lots of prednisone, and I easily feel sick and black out. It also does not aid the belly fat situation. I do drink on occasion, but I drank much more at the beginning of my semester, stopped around november. So I think I have given enough details to fill you in on my lifestyle. I am looking for something routine that is easy to follow eating the foods that are availible here. I will take your suggestions and see if they are able to be done with this meal plan.
I also do not think I drink enough water, and I am wondering if increasing my water intake will do good?
Any suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated.
Started smoking about 2 months ago. Ive had crohns for about 10 years. :)
Answer: My case is very similar.
only i don't smoke.
which could be one of your problems.
its doing no good for your body and it actually increases your risk of getting chron's.
but since you already have it, smoking could have been the cause, i don't know when you started so im unsure. but it really isn't doing any help for you. try to quit.
actually it sounds like your more concerned about your appearance than you overall health.
you probably don't have much belly fat anyway.
i think a problem you might have is that you say you eat a lot. which is not recommended for people with chron's.
i found a website that could be a great source for you.
http://www.healthline.com/adamcontent/crohns-disease
try it. i found the information to be very accurate. good luck.
btw im 15 :)
Question: Who knows anything about mega dosing with vitamin C, Have you tried it, or recommended it to anyone ever? I am interested in finding out more about mega dosing with Vitamin C, I have heard many good things including giving you more energy and feeling less tired, boosting your immune system, and possibly even increasing your chance of surviving say...a bird flu outbreak.
I would consider myself a healthy individual who doesn't smoke, drink, or take any prescription medications. I exercise regularly and currently take 2,000mg of vitamin C per day as it is for a supplement. I have wondered specifically if working my way up to taking a higher dose somewhere between 6,000mg and 10,000mg would increase my overall energy level? links to any websites with good content are more than welcomed, personal experience or expertise trumps all.
...and I drink at least 8oz of orange juice almost everyday, more when possible. I eat salad(mostly romaine lettuce and spinach) vegetables and some fruit.
Answer: mega dosing with vitamin C is definitely good IF you are struggling with a cold or flu or other viral infection or high fever as it IS a very powerfull natural antibiotic and speeds the healing process ...... however, if you regularly megadose ie ~ more than 2,000mg daily for extended periods of time you will raise the uric acid levels in your blood stream thus prompting your body to respond by leaching the calcium right out of your bones to neutralise it ..... icky, calcium deficiency will ensue then causing bone pain and arthritic gout type pain ....... and all the other symptoms of calcium deficiency ....... when uric acid levels are high in your blood stream, kidney stones can also ensue ...... back off on the vitamin C mate and eat loads of leafy and green vegies and eat more fresh fruit too ...... all very riich in vitamin C.
and i found all this out the hard way a few years ago luv ..... by doing precisely what you are planning on doing (and already doing) until i started getting dramatically painfull and aching fingers ....... once i realised my error and backed right off on the vitamin C supplementation it took a good 2 months for the horrible aching bone pain in my fingers to disappear ..... don't do it hey..... try fresh fruit (low sugar fruits like watermelon, strawberries, pears, cantalope) and green vegie juicing instead to increase your overall energy level ....... fresh will always be best..... try it, it works.
juice and eat more green vegies too like broccolli, kale, chard, buk choy ..... all rich in iron vitamin C magnesium and calcium....... calcium is needed for effective iron assimilation..... as is vitamin D (the sunshine vitamin), B6 (pyridoxine) and B12 (cobalamin) ..... don't supplement with any one of the B complex individually but rather as a whole complex as they all work best synergisitcally (together) ...... without enough calcium, B6, B12, vitamin D ~ iron assimilation will be inhibited and fatigue and exhaustion, dizzy spells, excessive feelings of being cold, headaches and migraines (nasty ones too) and irritability and moodiness will all ensue........ ;0)
peace baby

Question: How's my article on bamboo flooring? I am close to getting a job as a freelance writer for a local home magazine. I sent the man a simple email and he was already very impressed with the way I wrote. He told me to write him an article out of about 7 choices. I don't know why, but the bamboo flooring was intriguing to me. It is incomplete, due to max character restriction.
The man told me it would be ok to take someone elses article and drastically rewrite it, but I went against his advice and concocted my own. Do you think he'll like it?
For centuries, bamboo has been an intriguing and resourceful material for many far eastern cultures. In recent times, the demand for bamboo has experienced a dramatic increase in the western market, particularly in the flooring industry. The plant most commonly used for such flooring is called "moso" and originates in the jungles of China and other areas in southeast Asia.
Well, you may ask, "What's wrong with pine? Has spruce simply lost its appeal? Has oak been thrown to the wayside?" Not exactly, but recent concerns over the environment and the cost of energy have some consumers drooling over the aspect of bamboo floors. Bamboo does not only have qualities that will save your wallet a lot of grief in the long-run, it also has a beautiful aesthetic quality that no other hardwood can match.
Bamboo grows extremely quickly and produces thirty percent more oxygen than trees. Another key advantage: A 3 acre plot of bamboo will yield twenty times more timber than ordinary trees. If it is planted where soil has been overgrazed or where nothing seems to grow, it will feed the topsoil and that land will flourish for many years. Also, no pesticide is required for bamboo to maintain a long, healthy lifespan. Though there has been recent concern that growers are boosting their fertilizer usage for higher yields when it comes time to harvest. There is also a growing threat of losing biodiversity so that one crop (bamboo) can flourish. It should be known, however, that thousands of people indigenous to China depend on the success of bamboo farming.
In China, labor practices are very questionable, and that is where an overwhelming majority of bamboo products are manufactured and if one is concerned about human rights, it may factor in to his or her decision to purchase bamboo flooring. In addition to the labor issue, only one bamboo company currently holds any credible environmental certification and that is the Smith and Fong Company, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Several other bamboo producers are currently becoming certified by the FSC, which will ensure that more bamboo products will be grown in a clean, responsible manner.
And what about the American homeowner, considering installing new flooring? You will not only benefit from having a stylish floor to make the Jones' turn red, but will be pleased when you receive the energy company's monthly bill, or even when you spill grape juice on your floor. If you are an average American citizen you spend close to ninety percent of your time indoors. Unbeknownst to most people is the fact that their homes are circulating volatile organic compounds and that flooring can have a dramatic effect on a home's ventilation. And returning to the grape juice issue, bamboo is less susceptible to liquid than any other wood used in flooring today. It is also the least susceptible to insect infestation. such as termites or carpenter ants.
But what about durability? Can bamboo really hold up to hardwood, traditional foes? Bamboo is scratched, marred or dented just as easily as it's counterparts. The darker bamboo is comparable to black walnut, while the lighter shade is more similar to maple. In terms of maintenance, bamboo shows no clear advantage, either. It is not easier to clean, stain or repair. However, there is a considerable difference between light and dark bamboos and it all has to do with heat. The darker the bamboo, the longer the manufacturer has heated it. This darker bamboo is not as durable as the lighter, unheated bamboo and is defaced much more easily.
Bamboo flooring is produced by laminating individual strips together to create the desired size of flooring. Some floors are termed "horizontal". This means that the bamboo strips are laminated together so that the top shows the natural growth rings. This makes the wood look like short, choppy rows. Some manufacturers offer three foot lengths while others make bamboo flooring in six foot lengths. Most people prefer the longer lengths because it seems to look better once installed. When bamboo is described as "vertical" the strips are laid on their sides and laminated to create a look of long, thin rows of wood. There is a type of hybrid bamboo on the market called "Engineered bamboo" that is much more durable than traditional bamboo, but is fused with synthetic materials, making it less desirable by consumers who are interested in one hundred percent organic materials. This option may be a w
Answer: I think he will love it! Keep up the great work and best of luck in landing your job. Spectacular!
Question: I need help losing weight & getting toned from those of you who have had success.? For the past 5 weeks I have been working out for 20 minutes to an hour and a half daily (I have skipped a day or two here and there). I have also been eating healthier like adding more fruits, vegatables, & whole grains to my diet and cutting back on unhealthy things, but not completely cutting those things out of my diet, just eating them in moderation. I don’t want to starve myself or deprive myself of the things I enjoy eating, otherwise I’ll crave them and get frutrated. I have been slowly losing weight, a pound or two a week, and can see a little difference in my waist line in addition to having more energy and feeling better about myself. But, I was wondering what I could do to see a little bit more results. Right now my workout consists of cardio and strength training, but mainly pilates. My goal is to lose 25 more pounds by April and look good in a bathing suit. Does anyone have any ideas that may help me out that have worked for you? Do thoses ab belt workout things seem to work? Have any of you tried them? I have heard that they are FDA approved and I was looking in to something like this to use at my desk at work since I have to pretty much stay at my desk while I’m at the office. Also, what about that patch thing? Does it really work? I know that there is no magic way to instantly have a great body. I know that I have to work hard to get it and I am willing to do that, I have already diciplined myself to workout daily and watch what I eat, I just waned something to give my weight lloss a little boost to help me reach my goal in addition to toning my muscles. Please let me know what has worked for you who have had weight loss success and/or toned up your body.
I also just wanted to add that I have 3 children ages 2, 5, & 9. I vary my workout time & intensity around my family's schedule. Sometimes I can only squeeze in 10-20 minutes in the morning, then I workout again in the afternoon and/or evening. I drink a ton of water & don't drink any soda or juice. I have tried doing those colon cleanse things in the past with no results. I also eat smaller meals/healthy snacks throughout the day rather than 3 large meals. I have found that I don't even have much of an appetite for larger meals and for sweets and junk food. If I have a chocolate craving I break off a piece of a Hersheys bar that's been in my desk for the last couple of weeks. I'm doing all the things that I should be doing but just not seeing a lot of weight loss. I was hoping to lose 3-4 lbs per week. Thanks for your time to help me out!
Answer: The human body is incredible at adapting to change and stresses. However, this acts as a detriment to individual weight loss since the body adjusts to weight loss regimens and adapts to operate under the constraints of your diet and exercise. To combat your natural bodies tendency to adapt It helps to constantly mix up your routine so once your body starts to become familiar with a routine you change your current routine and your body has to adjust again. Doing things like splitting your workouts through out the day will force your metabolism to stay running more than twice as long than if you worked out once a day. Try doing a shorter workout in the morning or over lunch break and one after work or in the evening. Eating several small meals also keeps your metabolism more engaged throughout the day. Have you ever tried standing at your desk instead of sitting? If you can adjust your desk so you can work while standing you will also engage your metabolism throughout the day. I wouldn't try any gimmicky weight loss equipment or supplements. The new or trendy weight loss or fitness thingy is only trendy for as long as it takes for the general public to realize its bullcrap. There will always be another gimmick to hold the publics attention. I would recommend to do the same things but the key is to mix up the intensity, frequency and duration every few weeks. Also, keep mixing up the cardio and strength training as these two disciplines compliment each other. Keep pushing yourself both physically and discipline wise and build or learn from what you have done before. The work you put in when out of your comfort zone is where the most change occurs. Best wishes.
Question: What is the difference between an identity crisis and severe depression? What is wrong with me? Just to preface, I've never asked such a personal question to so many strangers before, and this is the first time I have ever used a site like this- but I have spent hours reading other ques/answers on here, so I finally figured I'd ask my own question that had been burning within me.
I'm relatively young (early 20s), and within the last couple years I have become more acutely aware that there is something wrong with me, and I do not know what it is. I have been aware of some sort of up and down depression for at least 10 years- since maybe 13? maybe earlier?- but it in the last 2-3 years, it has become something that has begun affecting my life and my ability to function and lead a normal life.
I don't know if I'm severely depressed (whether it be major depressive disorder, atypical depression, or dysthymia) or if I am just going through an identity crisis that is normal for soon to be college graduates. Or if I am just suffering from low self-esteem.
I don't believe in psychologists (for me personally), because I don't believe in the idea of paying somebody to listen to your problems. Everybody has problems, and I find therapy so narcissistic. I figure at least on here, people only answer if they want to or are interested. As far as medication, I don't like the idea of having to take a pill to be "normal", and I am also afraid it's going to change who I am. I'm sure that sounds stupid, but there you have it.
So, me: For at least the last 2 years of my life I have been 99% dull. I have studied abroad in amazing places, made tons of friends, had a good amount of money to use to my liking in regards to traveling and going out. I realize that I have had experiences that most people will never have in a lifetime, and I know that everything that I have done are things I had been looking forward to for years... But I am completely numb to it all. My life doesn't rub me one way or the other. I feel NOTHING about anything. Except pain. I feel a nagging, constant sadness and hopelessness. It has gotten worse and worse over the last 2 years to the point where I am now crying at least 2-3 a day, I don't want to leave my house, I am a failure. Everything that I have ever hoped for myself, all the aspirations I've ever had- and that my family has had for me- are slipping farther away. Even the things I liked to do are no longer fun or interesting; I have no energy for anything. And worse, my creativity is gone. If I feel anything, it's guilt for having wasted my parents' money and for having become this complete failure.
I go to a very good college(small liberal arts school), but it wasn't my first choice (ivy leagues)... I do very well but I slide by- meaning although I get mostly As, I don't work very hard a procrastinate to the point where I am forced to succeed or I will completely fail (ex. start to write a 20page final paper at 1am the day it is due). However, most of my peers are at great schools, doing amazing internships, being active and getting a healthy head start on their lucrative future careers.
Additionally, I have never had a boyfriend. So sometimes I wonder if that has become more of a influentially depressive factor than it should be for most girls- because not having- or having- a boyfriend should never be the end all be all. That being said, I think I look at my relationship with boys as a reflection of myself- I tend to go for men alpha males (sports captains) or challenges(professors) that I find physically attractive because that boosts my self-esteem. That being said, I'd never date or hook up with a guy that would treat me bad to my face, or whose personality I didn't like. However, I have found that CONSISTENTLY, boys will like me, but never enough to date me, only enough to hook up with me... Every single time, they like me, but never enough that they would want me as their girlfriend.
I think in turn this has caused me to put up a protective barrier... of fat. lol Not to sound pompous, but I think most people would consider me strikingly beautiful- I have been told this countless times throughout my life. However, I am a little bit overweight... enough so that I overheard my own father saying "If she was thin, she'd be a knockout". Somebody close to me suggested something interesting- that if I were slender, I would have people literally following me down the street- and they thought that perhaps I am aware of that, but the idea petrifies me, and so I keep up this protective few extra pounds to prevent all the attention. And that, additionally, this would mean that in being thinner, I would have my pick of men, and that if they then got to me and it didn't work out, it would mean something was actually wrong with me- as a person. What they suggested was that this way- I was in control of my own rejection by keeping on some extra pounds- but that if I were thin, any rejection I got would be a result of who I am as a person- it would be total rejection.
I don't unders
I don't understand- I know I am beautiful, but I question it all the time to the point where deep down, I must think I am ugly and I hate mirrors, and I cover myself up all the time. I am obsessed with beauty to the point where I am repulsed by it.
I like to think that if I had a boyfriend, things would be different, that I would be happier. But I don't think that is the case; I think my problem runs deeper than that.
I don't know what my problem is.. Am I so petrified of personal failure, that I don't even try so that, in a way, I am purposefully choosing failure so it has now become an active choice rather than merely a consequence? In this way is it all tied to some existential crisis? Is this just an identity crisis? That I'm not becoming who I thought I was going to be, and it's scaring me?
Or am I just severely fucked up and depressed?
If you have any advice or anything, please help me.
Life is becoming to empty to live with. I am becoming to empty to live with myself.
Answer: I have depression and anxiety disorders and I see both a psychologist and a psychiatrist. I dont pay either of them any money. There are free and covered services for mental health. I mean you wouldnt call a cancer specialist a narsassitic form of medicine would you? Psychology and psychiatry are just as necessary and just as helpful. The only one who can properly diagnose a mental illness is a psychologist or psychiatrist. a normal GP would likely just try to give you meds...they dont have the proper training to deal with mental illness problems. The best advice I can give you is to seek out those services offered in your area..get an evaluation by a psychologist and continue on with therapy and other treatment. And taking meds does not make you normal...everyone is different and my issues run deeper than being fixed by a pill. and medications are not cures for anyone. Good luck and hopefully you find the answer you're looking for for what you want to achieve. :)
Here are some things that naturally helps to keep the body balanced and in good shape overall that you can do on your own.
Answer: Wow, very interesting/informative.
Thanks.
Question: Biology help please! I really need help!? I'm having a lot of trouble with my biology homework right now! I've been working on it for awhile and it's past midnight where I am! The teacher went way too fast with this chapter. He said it was the longest, hardest chapter of the book and we went through it in like half a week!
What are carbohydrates, proteins, lipidsandnucleic acids?
35 or more questions on the worksheet I can't answer.
Also
Of monosaccharides, polysaccharides, lipids, and proteins, what would the answers to these be?
which food molecule would yu need to eat if...
... you needed a quick boost of energy
...you wanted to grow strong nails?
...you haven't eaten in days?
...you wanted to grow healthy hair?
...you had a race tomorrow afternoon?
...you were getting ready for hibernation?
...you wanted to get bigger mucsels? (I think that one is protein)
...your next meal will be in a week?
I am soooo stuck, and I wouldn't be asking if I wasn't. I have two worksheets, one with 75 questions the other is a few pages long. With out this info, I can't finish.
Answer: CARBOHYDRATES: Sugars & starch. Composed of (elements) C,H &O. The simplest carbohydrates are monosaccharides (glucose, fructose & galactose). These are for quick emergy; sweet & water soluble.
Disaccharides (double sugars)- two monosaccharides chemically combined. E.g.,
sucrose (table sugar), lactose (milk sugar) & maltose. Energy food, but slower to get in blood than monosacc.
Polysaccharides: Complex carbohydrates; composed of long monosaccharide chain molecules. Starch, cellulose & glycogen. Not sweet; not water soluble. Energy source, but not quick energy like simple monosaccharides.
PROTEIN: For growth & repair. Composed of amino acid molecules (about 20 different kinds in nature)connected. All are
Chemically composed of C,H,O & N.
LIPIDS: Fats , oils & waxes. Contain the highest amount of energy per unit. Composed of fatty acids & glycerol; Chemically composed of C,H & O.
Great source of Stored energy.
Nucleic Acids: DNA , genetic material (chromosomes, genes) found in cells & RNA, which allows a cell to make proteins. These are very large & complex molecules.
**I'm not 100% sure (but "Pretty sure" ) of a couple of these, but will give my best shot:
1.monosaccharides
2.proteins
**3.monosacch.
4.protein
5.polysaccharides
6.lipids
7.protein
**8.either lipids or polysaccharides
