Juice
Question: Juice????? My daughter will be 8 months old this month, and her doctor recommend I start her on juice. What is the best juice for them and how much a day??
She has been bottle-feed sine almost day one. And I do not receive WIC
Answer: Infant juice mixed 50/50 with water. Only 4 oz per day.
Question: jUICE?????? can you give your 5 month old juice?
what kind? the kind we drink or special baby juice??
Answer: You can but I wouldn't recommend it.
What nutritional value does juice give? Not much and they are full of sugar, natural or not, still unnecessary.
You are better off giving water for a change.
Breastmilk or formula is the best thing you can give at this age.
My daughter only has prune juice on occasion, only when she is bunged up.
Question: juice!!!!!!? when can I give my baby juice?? and how much should i start with at a time?
Answer: I didn't give my babies juice until they were 6 months old. For the most part, they didn't like grape juice, but liked apple. Unfortunately, apple juice is very acidic and gave them diaper rashes, so none of my kids could drink it until they were out of diapers.
Question: How much juice is in a pomegranate? I found a cool recipe for a pomegranate glaze but the directions just tell me to juice 4 pomegranates. I can get the juice at the local store and after my adventure juicing strawberries by hand, I don't really want to juice any pomegranates if I can avoid it. Does anyone know how much juice is in one?
Answer: I (insanely) actually juiced ONE pomegranate once. It was about 1/4 cup of juice and took about half an hour. Smooshing all of those tiny little seeds, and letting it drain..
Just buy the POM stuff at the supermarket. I would call 4 pomegranates to be about 1 cup.
Question: What does freshly juiced apple juice separate into? When I use my juicer on apples, I obviously get the juice out one side, and the dry pulp out the back. But when I let the juice sit for a few minutes, the juice separates into a foamy content on top, a clear/amber colored juice in the middle, and a 'sludge' on the bottom. What is the foam and 'sludge'?
Answer: The sludge is suspended apple fiber and juice; the foam is juice mixed with air.
Question: What fresh juice last the longest? How can i get my juice to last longer? I know its best to drink it within the first 15 minutes due to oxygenation but i want to take some in a bottle with me. So what is the best juice for this? Are there any ways to preserve, i heard beet and lemon juice are good preservatives. Does anyone know if there any way to get juice to stay good for a few hours while in my backpack?
Answer: When you juice, make sure that you place it in an air-tight container if you are not going to drink it immediately. You'll also want to pour it in a container that is *just* big enough to hold the juice. Meaning, you want as little air space between the top of the juice and the lid of the container as possible. (Like you already said - oxygenation).
If you can, try to keep the juice cool. Placing a few cold packs in a small insulated lunch bag should do the trick.
Beets and lemons are both good choices that can lengthen the life of your juice. Some others that don't lose taste quickly: pineapple, cabbage, grapes.
Question: How long does it take for juice to boil? 1/2 cup of juice? How about 1 cup of juice? And please tell me which type of juice you are talking about, like apple juice, pomegranet juice, orange juice, etc, tell me which one it is.
oh yeah, and how about on medium-high heat?
Answer: ummm grapefruit juice,
1/2 cup=12 hours
1 cup=47.493002 min.
and if u wanna go 2 cups=69.69 seconds
Question: How long is a frozen apple juice cube good for? Are there any moms out there that make their own baby food and then freezes it?
Well, I was thinking of using the same ice cube method with apple juice.
When we go to the store we can buy these huge tubs of apple juice a lot cheaper than the little bottles. Since we only give juice in small qualities I know that the tub of juice would go bad before we drink it.
If we can freeze apple puree in cubes, why can't we freeze the apple juice in cubes for later.
Sounds like a great idea to me.
Would the frozen juice cubes last the same amount of time as the puree cubes (3 months) or more time, less time?
Once we put the cubes in the refrigerator for thawing how long are they good in the frig before tossing?
Any ideas?
Answer: If your wasting the money on the tub by throwing it out wouldn't it be more practical to spend alittle more on the smaller bottle that at least you know will be used?
Question: How much juice is there in 100% juice containers? I know that 100% juice is reconstituted fruit juice from concentrate. What I'm asking is, hypothetically, if a manufacturer evaporated a cup of pure fruit juice and after the water left 1/2 cup of juice concentrate remained, are they required by law to then reconstitute it back using 1/2 cup of water again to achieve the original 1 cup of fruit juice? Could they theoretically take 1/8 cup of fruit juice concentrate and add the rest with water and still call it 100% fruit juice?
For a bonus, any weblinks would be great.
Answer: http://www.kidsource.com/kidsource/content4/fruit.juice.news.html

if they say 100% juice that is what it has in it from what I can see.
Question: How much juice does a lemon hold? My recipe calls for the juice of one lemon and I want to use lemon juice instead. Does anyone know how much lemon juice to use?
Answer: One lemon yields about 2-3 tablespoons of juice. If you put it in the microwave for 10 seconds before cutting it, you'll get a little more juice from it.
Question: How do you substitute bottled lime juice for fresh lime juice? How much bottled juice is equal to the juice of one lime? The bottled lime juice doesn't provide any information on how to substitute bottled juice for fresh.

Question: What does lime juice do to keep the avocados from browning? One way to keep avocados from turning brown is to sprinkle them with lime juice. Knowing that an enzyme is browning the avocados, what does the lime juice do? Does lime juice act as an inhibitor?
Answer: It goes brown because of a reaction with the polyphenoloxidase family of enzymes. These enzymes are thought to be in the resistance of plants to microbial and viral infections.
The reaction of the enzyme with oxygen results in the biochemical conversion of phenolics to produce quinones. These go on to polymerise to give the brown colouration, which is caused by melanins.
You can control the reaction by various processes including chilling (slows reaction), lower pH (add citric acid - lemon or lime juice to slow reaction), blanching (denatures the enzyme) or dehydrating.
Place, enzymatic browning into a search engine if you want more details.
Question: How much lemon juice should I put in my marinade? I like to marinate my meat in a homemade mixture of soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ground black pepper, and the juice of 2 limes or lemons. I didn't see how much juice 2 lemons/limes yielded. If I use bottled lemon juice, how much is enough? A cup or so?
Answer: I am a former chef and a cup will harm the the meat, it will cook it like th fish in the dish named ceviche, only use 1/2 a lemon or 1 lime, it is not nessessary to use so much, and even with that only marinate it for 1-2 hours, not longer, overnight and it will be tough.

Question: What's the difference between 'fresh' & 'longlife' juice, in terms on the amount of Vitamin C? Hey, i did a titration to discover how much Vitamin C was in an ornage juice and an apple juice.
It was found that the apple juice had more Vitamin C than the orange juice, which was correct.
However normally orange juice has more...
My teacher told me to discuss the juice comparison of a longlife juice (apple), and a fresh juice (orange), and how the affect the amount of Vitamin C in the juice itself.
Can you please explain what the difference is, and how the Vitamin C content is impacted? I can't find anything...
Answer: apples have more. you press apples and squeeze oranges.
its so obvious!
