Question: Can I take more than one vitamin tablet at a time? I have to take Vitamin-D supplements and I have forgotten to take some the past few days. Would it be unhealthy if I took 3 at a time?
Answer: A lot depends on the strength of the tablets or capsules. If each capsule contains 400 IU of vitamin D you probably only need one a day but if each capsule only contains 200 IU of vitamin D you could take 2 a day.
A good vitamin D supplement is fortified cod liver oil. Each capsule contains 4,000 IU of vitamin A and 400 IU of vitamin D. You take one a day.
The general recommendation is that if you miss a dose or two you should forget about catching up and taking extra doses. Just keep taking the normal dose and try to remember to take them.

Question: Is crushing a vitamin tablet in the blender while making a smoothie bad? Will I be loosing any of the nutrients that are in the pills if I do it that way?
Answer: I would NOT suggest that~Vitamin supplements are specifically formulated to be assimilated by the body's needs gradually, and are hence, like a "time release" for some of the vitamins and minerals in the particular tablet.
My concern is that the fat soluble vitamins such as A and D can cause liver damage if ingested too quickly and in too great an amount. I would suggest taking the entire vitamin as the manufacturer intended, whole. Chewable vitamins for kids are altogether different, as they are formulated for just that, children under 12 and approximately 75 pounds in total body weight.
There is a condition called "hypervitiminosis" which can be fatal is too much supplemental vitamins are ingested into your system.
Take your vitamins with your smoothie, just don't grind them up IN the smoothie......

Question: Is it better to take a vitamin tablet in the morning or evening ? Or doesn't it make any difference !
Answer: Unless your doctor has recommended you take them (in which case you would be given instructions), they are irrelevant as long as you are eating a sensible diet...
"Vitamin C is also controversial, with a recent American study suggesting it may speed up atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, in diabetics.
Biochemist Barry Halliwell, an expert in anti-oxidants at the National University of Singapore, said supplements simply cannot mimic the effects of a healthy diet.
Stick to flavonoid-rich foods, red wine in moderation, tea, fruits and vegetables,' he said.
Don't start taking high-dose supplements or heavily-fortified foods until we know more".

a strong antioxidant. Every person is different, so you need to experiment. Start with 500mg for a
few days and increase the dosage gradually until you experience a little diarrhea then back of
some. The important thing is to never miss a day. I'm 77 years old, healthy and take about 6 grams
of C every day for the last 20 years.
