White Bread Taste
Question: Does peanut butter and jelly on whole wheat bread taste good, or is white bread better for this?
Answer: I know we're supposed to have whole wheat bread all the time, but trust me sports-fans, a real PBJ has to be on that squishy white bread to have the authentic taste. Save your whole wheat bread for politically correct sandwich fillings, but do NOT pollute PBJ, OK?
Question: Why is it that naan, pita, and white bread all taste different despite being made from just flower and water?
Answer: naan uses 70% water and 30% yogurt and at least 90 minutes fermentation (basically 1 time rise)
white bread can be 2 - 3 hours fermentation (1-2 time rise) (or using a starter to make white sourdough bread)
not sure about pita since i have never made it.
temperature, humidity, elevation of sea and land varies greatly in the making of a bread. addition of fats and flavourings also will make it taste different. the types of yeast that are used, dried, frozen compressed, fast acting also gives different taste and smells.
my master baker says breads are living things.
Question: Would melted mozzarella cheese, Fresh sliced tomatoes, and basil leaves taste good with toasted white bread?
Answer: Yep. I'd put the whole thing in the oven at 350 for about 10 minutes. Yum.
But I agree with others who've said a heavier bread would be better unless you are using a home baked white bread.
Question: What's a healthy bread that tastes like white bread? Or, though I realize that may be too much to ask of a bread that's not heavily refined, one that's less grain-tasting?
Answer: real french bread from a bakery...less additives
Question: Bakers-What's the difference in taste or texture between Classic White bread/ Country White/ and Deluxe White? I've decided to try and bake our own bread most of the time.... and I'm gonna try many different recipes, wheat and white and potato, but ..... I want to bake a white loaf today and tried to look up recipes but don't know the difference between them! Loaf of bread to the best answer, lol! (kidding)
Answer: Classic White Bread recipes usually call for milk and water -- and the milk is scalded. There is still debate about whether it is really necessary to scald the milk, and many bakers have found that if warm water and warm milk are used, the results are just as good (or better). The crust is soft and the insides are light, airy and soft
Country White Bread recipes call for eggs. The crust is soft and the insides are still light, but not as airy and soft -- more dense and cake like because of the eggs.
Lastly, I have never heard of Deluxe White Bread -- after a quick search the only recipes for this type of bread were for bread machines.
Oh -- and my favorite bread recipes are the european peasant breads. They have a very thick crust and the texture is dense. Wonderful to make with various herbs to create tasty artisan breads ..... YUM!
Question: While in Singapore I had a white bread-style banana bread that didn't taste like cake. Anyone have a recipe? Or at least possibly know the brand?
Answer: Try this one. In the reviews, someone mentioned missing Singapore-style bread so I thought this may be it.

Answer: My favorite is grilled cheese on rye. Dip into ketchup, with dill pickle chips on the side! yumyumyum
Question: Do white and wheat breads taste the same? I'm having an arguement right now.
THANK YOU! I told him that they DON'T taste alike!
Answer: white bread contains a lot more simple sugars and is much sweeter
wheat breads are more bland have a firmer texture
so no, not at all
Question: will my banana bread taste ok if the peel isnt brownish and inside is still white and firm?
Answer: Very easy fix, stick them in the microwave on low for a minute or two, unpeeled, of course, this will soften them right up and that is what you want for really good, moist naner bread!
Oh and to really rotten them up fast, if you can wait a few hours, throw the suckers in the freezer for a couple of hours, take 'em out and let them sit on the counter for about an hour, they'll be brown and ooey gooey
Question: Is white bread really that evil? Okay, I keep hearing everyone saying white bread is just horrible and they cut it totally out of their diet. But If it only has 70 calories and 1.5 grams of fat for 2 slices how is that bad? It is still a grain of sorts, right? And still counts towards your daily serving of grains.
I just don't like the taste of wheat bread, at all. I feel it ruins the sandwich and I'd rather not have it at all.
Answer: I love white bread too.
However, it's bad for you. The reason is not on it's calories which is not high, as you mentioned; it is because since it lacks fibre and other nutrients, it's pure carb. Why is pure carb bad? because after eating it, your blood sugar shoots up and then dip down. With this kind of spike in your blood, it has implications on your nutrient absorption (food can be easily converted to fat rather than something else), your bad cholesterol (LDL)...etc.
So, Life is hard, try to eat mostly whole grain bread and only indulge on White occasionally.
Question: What's the difference between wholegrain/wholewheat versions of bread/pasta etc as opposed to white? We had a discussion at the gym recently about dieting. I have already switched to lower fat versions of some of the foods that I cannot give up, but my instructor suggested that I eat wholewheat pasta/bread & other carbs instead of white bread/pasta. What difference does this make? I enjoy a brown loaf, but I am a bit hesitant to try wholewheat pasta - does it taste much different?
Answer: Wholegrain, wholewheat is the natural product.
White versions have been stipped of all the goodness and vitamins, have been bleached to make them white, and if you're very liky may have had a small pinch of vitamins chucked back into the highly processed mix! (Which would only represent a 10th of the nutrients in their natural state!) White bread is predominantly flour, and water - your gran probably used to use it as wallpaper paste!
Unless you are body building or running marathons (which you may well be) the majority of people eat way to much wheat in any form, brown or white. It is better to find carbs in other sources such as beans, pulses and vegetables.
So called 'experts' tell us to eat wholegrain wheat and pasta as the bulk of our diet. This is extremely bad and unhealthy advice.Hope this helps.
ps. Wholeweat pasta is harder to find, but it fills you up quicker so you need less of it.
Question: WHen I make bread at home, it is never as white as the supermarket bread ? I use white flour with my bread maker, but my bread is never as white as the super market bread. It tastes good so i am not worried, just curious.
Answer: I think commercial, and supermarket bakers use bleached white flour. As long as you like your home made not-so-white loaf, that's what counts.
Question: What would happen if I made crab cakes with the bread crusts (only) instead of just white bread(no crusts)? I recently purchased some lump crab meat on an impulse purchase at the store, thinking that I could put the (white) bread crusts to use that I have left from making crustless cucumber sandwiches, but all of the recipes I found suggest using just the soft, white center of the bread. I don't want to ruin my tasty crab, so I thought someone might know what would happen (how it would taste) if I used only bread crusts instead. I also have flavored bread crumbs I could use, but I'd like to make use of the crusts somehow, if I can.
Answer: try to soak it with milk first..i think it will come out the same my dear.
Question: Why does bread taste like crap to me? This maybe a strange question to ask but I tasted what bread taste like. Not the mainstream American white bread, but the Europeon kind. The worst of them all was the rye bread. I would imagine it if it were gouging on a mix of weeds and spurs and leaves from a maple tree all mixed into one. Am I lacking a taste bud to acquire this taste?
Other things that taste like crap to me is beer, black licorice and mcdonalds.
Though, black coffee taste fantastic to me. It has a very flavory neutral taste to me.
Answer: Well that is a first for me. I cook often for friends and of all the dislikes they usually all agree on breads. Fresh baked.
I can imagine that there are those that don't like beer.
Black licorice I can take it or leave it.
Mc Donald's is a never for me. I like my foods fixed at home.
Trying to find a correlation here with the foods you have listed but I am falling short of that.
Question: Whole wheat bread is made with 2 times the grease as white bread, what is healthier? I mean do the advanatges of whole wheat out-weigh the excessive amounts of grease and oil thats added to whole wheat bread?
The whole wheat brand I buy reeks with grease, the grease soaks thru the bread bag and it has a greasy taste and texture
Answer: Whole wheat flour will always have more fat grams than white flour due to the wheat germ.
