Bee Propolis
Question: Is bee propolis good for preventing the flu or h1n1 virus? A friend of mine had a really bad h1n1 a few months ago, and I will be starting the new semester soon. i want to prevent h1n1 and other viruses. But I just don't believe in all these vaccinations and synthetic drugs. Anybody have good experience using bee propolis as an antibiotic?
Answer: Yes Meryl. I have been taking it (bee propolis) for a little over 2 years, and I have not had sniffles nor any other signs of being sick.
No one is telling you not to take vitamins. You should ALWAYS be taking your vitamins daily. Not just when you feel a cold coming on. Something I never understood. People avoid Vitamins all year round then when they get sick, they think popping a 1000mg vitamin pill will magically heal them.
Now back to bee propolis...Bee propolis is actually one of the most sterile substances known to man and contains very rare but important minerals and nutrients. I'm not sure where others have "read" about it not working. But it has worked very well for me. And if you want real research and proof please see the bee-propolis.com link below.
If you want to know the science behind bee propolis and see soem authentic and comprehensive scientific research, there's an excellent explanation here: http://www.bee-propolis.com/health-benefits/the-science-behind-bee-propolis-benefits/
I tend to think that sometimes we can learn a lot more from the animal kingdom than from humanity. I understand that at times we need stronger medication and synthetic treatment. But we have become so conditioned to reach for that prescription of over the counter drug. There are still plenty of natural things out there that simply kick ass!
Give the bee propolis a try. It has really worked for me. And it still has plenty of regular vitamins and minerals in it as well.
Question: How to use bee propolis to gain weight fast. I read on this forum that I should use it, but i dont know how.? I am 21 male 6 foot 2 130 pounds. I have tried everything to gain. Need to know how to use bee propolis. Or anything else that can cause weight gain.
Answer: EAT boy EAT!!! Don't use whatever that is when you could have much more fun EATING!!!
You have to constantly EAT! Eat foods high in fibre and protien. Eat stuff like brown rice, meat oatmeal, bananas etc...
And most importantly don't skip the desserts EAT THAT ICE CREAMM!!
Question: Does Bee Propolis suppose to smell kind of strong? I just got some Bee Propolis capsules, they have a strong oder to them, almost rancid to me. Anyone know is this normal smell Bee Propolis?
Answer: Yes. Unfortunately, there are some natural products that just plain stink. I have to explain this to customers that get certain Amino Acids (especially L-Lysine), many herbs (Valerian is a strong one), and Bee Propolis... all of those have very potent odors and there are some that even smell like stinky feet. Yuck!
Question: Has anyone ever used bee propolis during pregnancy? I suffer from endo. and am trying bee propolis, but am curious as to whether it is safe to use after I finally get pregnant!!
Answer: although i am a big fan of drinking honey with warm water and lemon, i haven't used bee propolis TTC. i found several articles on the subject that you perhaps have already seen. here's an interesting site on natural fertility that may have some useful information for you: http://www.natural-fertility-info.com/
Question: Well, first of all, what's bee propolis (spelling)? Second, can vegans eat honey? I have a cold and my parents bought and forced me to eat some bee propolis, which I have no idea what it is. Also, I got curious. If honey is made from bee labor, and vegans don't eat anything to do with animals, then can they eat honey?
Answer: Vegans don't eat honey. Propolis is a resinous mixture that bees collect from tree buds, sap flows, or other botanical sources. It is used as a sealant for unwanted open spaces in the hive. Propolis is used for small gaps (approximately 6.35 millimeters (0.3 in) or less), while larger spaces are usually filled with beeswax. Its color varies depending on its botanical source, the most common being dark brown. Propolis is sticky at and above room temperature. At lower temperatures it becomes hard and very brittle.
For centuries, beekeepers assumed [1]that bees sealed the beehive with propolis to protect the colony from the elements, such as rain and cold winter drafts. However, 20th century research has revealed that bees not only survive, but also thrive, with increased ventilation during the winter months throughout most temperate regions of the world.
propolis as hive sealing
Propolis is now believed to:
reinforce the structural stability of the hive
reduce vibration
make the hive more defensible by sealing alternate entrances
prevent diseases and parasites from entering the hive
prevent putrefaction within the hive. Bees usually carry waste out of and away from the hive. However if a small lizard or mouse, for example, found its way into the hive and died there, bees may be unable to carry it out through the hive entrance. In that case, they would attempt instead to seal the carcass in propolis, essentially mummifying it and making it odorless and harmless.
Question: Has anyone had success in using Bee Propolis to treat depression? If so, could you please share the details?
i.e. how successful is it for you? which brand do you use? what dosage do you take?
Answer: No, I've only heard of it being used as a topic anti-infective/anti-biotic for wounds, etc. I have heard of people taking it for increased energy also but I don't know how effective this is. Years ago, I did try it for this but had a severe allergic reaction and when I checked up on why this could be, I learned that even a bee "sensitivity" (as opposed to a true "allergy to bees") can make a person react with greater intensity to bee products. Needless to say, I didn't try it again. (I can eat honey though.)
But, back to depression....depression can frequently be treated really well with placebo (as much very recent scientific evidence has shown.) (I had been saying that for years but no one believed me until lately.) My point is that if you really believe something will work for you, it has a really good chance of working for you. (Actually, real chemical medication does not work as well - even if you believe in it - as yoga, meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other therapies - MBCT, STDP)
Good luck.

Question: how does royal jelly and bee propolis affect diabetes? I am an American english teacher in China. I have recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My Chinese friends suggested I start taking a daily combination of royal jelly and propolis. I am totally sold on it. I haven't taken any diabetic medication in six months and my blood sugar levels have been consistently normal. I even eat something sugary about once every two weeks. I highly recommend these products to anyone with diabetes. My Chinese friends even believe that after several years of daily doses of rj and bp there's a chance diabetes can be completely cured! I have searched and searched the internet for how these products affect diabetes and, apparently, there's been little research done on it in the West. Can anyone illuminate me on this?
Answer: I've not heard of either one. Controlling type two diabetes is not that hard if you learn a few simple dos and don'ts. What works very well for me is a combo of supplements along with a healthy diet, exercise, and weight control. I, too, eat sugary stuff now and then with no adverse affects. In fact, one of my sources claims that a small amount of sugar can actually help type two diabetics. I'm a little skeptical, but so far, my numbers are pretty good. Question: Does bee propolis salve really relieve shingles? Why do bee pollen products help humans?
Answer: As usual, I'm at odds with the so called medical professionals on this. They really do need to accept that SOME things are of value to SOME people - it's not about people being desperate, stupid or in a hurry to waste their money - I imagine that people ask such questions on here as they are looking for help. Until conventional medicine has ALL the answers & can treat people without giving them side effects, then they should not cast aspurtions. They do not have a monopoly on health.
If your symptoms include burning & stinging pains, then this product might well suit. If this is the case, why don't you give it a try. If your symptoms don't sound like this, then it's unlikely to help.
Question: Is bee propolis safe for pets? My little Maltese is sick and I can't take her to the vet right now..... If i give her bee propolis is it safe? After she gets better could I give her the supplement daily for immune health? It seems like there isn't much info on the net about animals and supplements. Thanks!!
Answer: We are bee keepers and have at the moment 6 dogs from Great Pyr to Chihuahua. We feed them honey and propolis and they are fine. They even like to eat combs of hiney out of the hives so I don't think it will hurt her. The only thing is sometimes propolis can have a "loosing" effect on bowels but we have never seen it with our dogs.
Question: Has bee Propolis worked for you during TTC? Ive been taking prenatals and vitex.

Question: Does bee propolis help or cause weight gain, because i need to gain weight fast.? I eat alot and work out.
Answer: Bee propolis has a long history of use as a natural remedy for wound infection and other illnesses. Preliminary studies suggest it may be active against bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms when applied topically. I have not read that it is helpful for weight gain. Do you wish to just gain weight or muscle? Muscle is heavier and with added muscle you'll weigh more and be healthier. We should all have your problem. I seem to gain weight fast without even trying. Let me suggest that you consume lots of carbs that what I have to cut out to lose weight so it should work to help you gain weight fast. Try a lots of smoothies loaded with yogurt. Question: What is the recommended dose (mg) of green bee propolis?
Answer: I kept bees for many years and used propolis for sore throats and mouth ulcers. The color of prolpolis is determined by the dominate type of forage the bees use. It all ages to a brown gummy tar-like consistency. I never use more that a couple Mg's to chew at a time. Hope that helps you.
Question: Has anyone used "Bee Propolis Cream for Babies"? What are your experiences with this cream? Did you tried a better ,similar cream for babies? What did you use for eczema, atopic dermatitis ?
Thank you for your help!
What cream do you use for your baby's face?
Answer: Several years ago, the physician prescribed Elocon cream for my daugther (now 17). It is used to treat certain itchy rashes and other inflammatory skin conditions. We also tried oatmeal baths and kept her skin moisterized. Don't use petroleum jelly or anything that is thick. It is sad watching your baby go but soon she will grow out of it. My daughter had a mild case until the age of 5. This is something she inherited on her father's side.
Question: Bee Propolis Tincture - How To Take? While well aware of the benefits of this supplement, I am having trouble finding a way to actually *take* it. The bottle says to take 15 drops in a spoon of warm water. Alternately, I have tried adding it to a cup of tea as well. This stuff is so STICKY however, all it does is stick to (and ruin) spoons, cups, etc., even sticks to my teeth, it's horrible. Is there a way to take this tincture and actually be able to ingest it without having it stick to everything else on the way?
Answer: I have had the same problem. You end up scraping it off your teeth with difficulty. Here are a couple of ideas I use:
1. Mix it with honey, it sticks a lot less.
2. Put drops into an empty hard shell capsule. You should be able to get empty capsules that twist open from a pharmacist or a health store. Fill a capsule just before you swallow it; a capsule will dissolve in your stomach but stay firm enough while you fill it with the liquid.
