Bowel Movements
Question: Bowel movements? Does anyone have increased bowel movements, and feels an increase in temperature during their periods? If you do, how do you cope with it? It REALLY drives me crazy!
Answer: I have noticed this too. A way to make it better is to eat better which means less greasy foods and more fiberous foods like carrots, broccoli. Peppermint tea helps with bloating and stomach issues too
Question: Bowel Movements!!? In the last few months, i have had frequent bowel movements but maybe every month or so i suffer with very bad ones(for at least a week twice a day) which give me stomach pain and are very viscous (i think this word applies; couldnt think of a nicer one!) they are not painful to pass. I dont think it has anything to do with what i am eating... Does anyone know what this could be? Could it be IBS or Chrons?
Answer: Chrohns disease is difficult to diagnose. Have you had a colonoscopy? You should put yourself in the hands of a gastroenterologist. It might be as simple as IBS (I can't belive I said that...years ago when I was in the middle of that problem I don't think I would have labeled it simple!!!) Fibre in your diet is crucial to straightening many intestinal problems...so is drinking lots of water. Diverticulosis is another issue that may be one of yours...like I said, go see a specialist...whatever your problem is you will feel so much better, just knowing what it is.

Question: How many bowel movements do you have per day? I usually get in at least 2, and sometimes 3 a day. A friend of mine said she only poops about once every 3 days! That doesn't seem normal. I think the docs say you should have a good BM at least once a day.

Question: How many bowel movements a 6 week old should have? My daughter is 6 weeks old, and she is being fed breast milk (I pump) and similac advanced formula. Each feeding she has 3 ounces breast milk and 1-2 ounces of formula. She is only have 2 maybe 3 bowel movements every 24-30 hours. Is this normal? How much does your 6 week old poop!? I just want to make sure nothing is wrong. She also has 6-9 wet diapers a day, so there is no problem there.
Answer: During the first six weeks, newborns generally have at least one bowel movement per day, and may have as many as 15. Stool frequency in breastfed babies can vary even more - from as many as 15 per day to just one bowel movement every few days, after a few weeks. The passing of only one stool every few days does not necessarily indicate constipation. Neither does grunting, pushing, or turning red in the face while passing a stool. This is normal as long as stools are soft, do not contain blood, and do not appear to be causing pain.
Question: How do can I make my bowel movements smaller and less painful? I have been having unusally large bowel movements, Is there any way I can make it smaller and softer befor I have another bowel movement. Answer: My Daughter is an RN and she told me to just drink a glass of prune juice every outher day and it works.

Question: What causes such unique (and enjoyable) bowel movements the morning after a night of heavy drinking? I've noticed that the morning after a night of binge drinking my bowel movements tend to have a distinctive feeling and character to them. A lot of other friends have mentioned the same thing, so I'm under the impression it's not just me. What is the physiological cause of this?
Answer: Alcohol acts as a depressant drug that slows down the central nervous system and causes all body functions to be slower. It is also an emetic that releases water into the blood stream, some if which will be removed through deification. The relaxant effect of the alcohol will also make passing your stools easier and more comfortable.
So, your bowl builds slower with a bulkier stool and passes out in a smoother fashion.
As to why you find this enjoyable, only you can tell that one, but enjoy the moment!
Question: Why are my bowel movements very inconsistent and spread out very few during the week? A few more tidbits that will help this scenario. I have recently had a fistula and abcess that was removed from the outer part of my anus. The infection was caused by feces imbedded in my colon and resulted in a very painful surgery and recovery. I rarely make bowel movements *2-3 during a full week normally* and have gone up to 2 weeks without a movement at all. When I do have BM's, they are usually ribbon-like and cause discomfort, afterwhich I feel like I have not passed all of it and usually go to the bathroom multiple times during that day, although I make no progress after the initial movement. The fissure I am guessing, was caused from the 'aftermath' when I make BM's. When I feel like I have not evacuated completely, I sit, and unintentionally strain, *muscles react as if I were vomiting*. Honestly, my diet is atrosious. Fast food, Hot pockets, Pizza, things of that nature are my normal meals. Hope this helps.
Answer: Yes "ribbon like" is not good. I would talk to you MD about this.
Also your diet needs to change to include less cheese and more fiber rich foods. I suggest you buy Yogi get regular tea and drink a cup every other day. Mix it with other teas if you do not like the taste. Hope this helps.
Question: What are good foods to help keep bowel movements regular? Soluable, insoluble fibers-what does what? And what foods can you find them in?
And what kinds of foods can inhibit healthy bowel movements?
Answer: Prunes.
Question: Ny boyfriend has been complaining of many frequent bowel movements during the day? My boyfriend has too many bowel movements thorughout the day. Its causing us to spend too much time indoors because he always has the urge to go, specially after we eat. Anyone know whats wrong with hiM?
Answer: it's possible that he has irritable bowel syndrome. Irritable bowel syndrome is characterized by a group of symptoms in which abdominal pain or discomfort is associated with a change in bowel pattern, such as loose or more frequent bowel movements or diarrhea, and/or hard or less frequent bowel movements or constipation.
If your boyfriend eats fatty foods or fried foods this can bring about this condition. for now he should be eating bland foods such as rice, bananas, and fresh baked bread. I'm enclosing a link to a website that has very good information on this condition.
Have him check with his medical doctor and see if this is what he has.
Question: How many bowel movements in a day is normal for a toddler? My son is 21 months old, he has 2-4 bowel movements per day. Is this normal? His weight is around 10.5~11 kg.Thanks
Answer: The average toddler doesn't have that many bowel movements, but normal in terms of bowel movements is really what is normal for the individual, not the average person.
If the bowel movements are small then maybe he's just not getting it all out at once and that's why he's having multiple movements. If they are large, then maybe he is eating too much. If he is having diarrhea, then definitely take him to his pediatrician.
If you ever feel concerned about anything about your son, you should always consult with your pediatrician or one of the nurses on his or her staff. They are your best source of reliable information.
Question: when do puppies start having bowel movements? I have 3 puppies that are now 5 days old. I've noticed this morning that I haven't seen any poop. When do they start having bowel movements? Or is the mom cleaning everything up?
Answer: The mom will clean everything up until you start them on kibble.
Question: How often should be 8 month old daughters have bowel movements? I have twin girls who have some serious diaper rashes at the moment. The problem is that they are having bowel movements 3-5 times a day(each) and the rash always seems to get irritated. Any advice would be appreciated.
Answer: I would definately talk to the dr about the diaper rash, especially if it has been around for more than2-3 days and rash oinment is not helping. It sounds like the rash may be caused by a yeast infection. This is more common than you think and is in no way your fault. There is a prescription cream called vusion you could ask your dr about. As for the BMs, I would not worry so much about how often as I would the consistencty. If their BMs are solid/firm I would not be concerned, but if they are runny/watery then I would be concerned that it is diarrhea and talk to the dr. With my 9 month old son it depends on how much he ate the day before. Sometimes its once a day sometimes its 3 times a day. It's even been where he poops, I change him and then he immediately poops again. If they have been eating a lot then they will poop a lot. But I would definately check with the dr about the diaper rash.
Question: What is a good supplement to take to increase bowel movements? I don't have the time to go thru a detox program, but I would like to take something that will increase my bowel movements. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't drink coffee. What about dandelion supplements?
Answer: Just get into the habit of taking a scoop of some psyllium based bulking agent...like Metamucil or a generic equivalent. It is absolutely safe and actually good for you to take on a regular basis. It's unfortunate that many people look at it as a laxative as opposed to a fiber-rich nutrition product...which is really what it is.
