Extraction can easily done by water or supercritical carbondioxide. Cleaning up depends highly on coextracted matrix compounds.
Question: ...........CAFFEINE.......? How does drinking caffeine affect a teenager's health??
Answer: caffeine itself is only a MENTAL stimulant placed in the drink to create a mental arousal effect which makes the body profound to more activity, but only lasts as a temporary fuel. it is an urban rumor that it stunts teenage growth. it in fact has no effect on any other system except the nervous system. growth actually takes place in the process of mitosis in which cells reciprocate. the only major health problem would be that the nervous system would begin to rely on caffeine rather thatn natural awakening habits.
Question: caffeine??? about 45 minutes ago i put like really really srong coffee (like 1/2 cup instant coffee mixed with like 1/4 cup water) on my hair to make it look darker. after about 30 minutes i started to feel hyper and so i washed the coffee off. could the caffeine have been absorbed into my body through my scalp? or am i just very energetic for no reason?
Answer: It is very very doubtful that you absorbed enough caffeine to actually affect you.
Caffeine does not absorb well through the skin, but it does get absorbed. You only absorb less than 1/50th of the caffeine present, and that is when you leave it on for 4 hours!
The smell of coffee is known to wake people up, and if you never consume caffeine, even small doses can strongly affect you. It could also be a placebo effect--you used something that you know makes you hyper, thought about absorbing it possibly, and your body responded to that idea by making you hyper.
Coffee seems like an odd way to color your hair, though!
In response to some of the above posters: Caffeine is not a gas. It is a solid that sublimes at over 100C. Additionally, although your scalp, and the rest of your skin, is typically "designed to keep stuff out", all skin is able to absorb certain chemicals.

Question: How much caffeine is in a small/medium piece of chocolate cake? I do not consume caffeine anymore (it's been about 8 years or so). I just ate a small/medium sized piece of chocolate cake. I wonder if anyone has a clue about how much caffeine would be in that? By the way, I do not eat/drink caffeine anymore due to panic disorder and anticipatory anxiety disorders. Thanks for your input.
I also take Xanax, Buspar and Lexapro and have heard/read caffeine is not good to mix with these drugs. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with consuming caffeine and any of these medications together?
Answer: i know how you feel, i get scared when i drink caffine, it does make my anxiety more out of control, it's crazy like if you are a crackhead or somethin'... and more chances of panic disorders may happen due to that...
but anyways...
caffine in chocolate doesn't hold as much as in soda like coca-cola... the thing you have to worry about is what else is in that chocolate cake... if some one made it from scratch? i believe would be better than you buyin' it already made with all kinds of perservatives, other sugars, etc. That way you know what's in it... but a small servin' of choco cake shouldn't be that bad, but another question... what is a small serving to you? plus you need to find out, how sensitve to caffine you are, if it's really serious, your doctor can probably tell you how much you can tolerate....
i found this on the web
(Myth: Chocolate is high in caffeine.
Truth: The amount of caffeine in a piece of chocolate candy is significantly lower than that in coffee, tea or cola drinks. For instance, a 5 oz cup of instant coffee has between 40 and 108 mg of caffeine, while a one oz milk chocolate bar contains only 6 mg and many confectionery items have no caffeine at all. )

Question: How much caffeine does it take to produce an irregular heart-beat or other caffeine related illnesses? I just want to know the correlation between caffeine and irregular heart-beat and other related factors.
Answer: There are so many factors to consider. It is like any drug, it metabolizes, and therin lies the rub. Factors that effect how it will effect you include Age, Weight, health, condition of the liver and kidneys, hydration, etc.
A single large coffee contains about 4 espressos worth of caffine. An average 8 oz cup has about 40 mgrams. A person really should not metabolize more than 160 mgrams in a day and expect not to have health problems arise.
Because it is a diuretic, it will make you urinate more frequently, and flush your colon, thus it can easily lead to dehydration. Dehydration is usually first noticed by rapid heartbeat and dry lips, dark urine, etc.
It also invokes the flight or fight response in the brain and probably heardens the arteries. There is an article about this below.
Hope this helped you. Here are a few websites:)

Question: How do I get caffeine to put in a plant? For my science fair topic, I'm going to see if caffeine will make the plant grow faster. My teacher said try to use different kinds of caffeine like Mountain Dew, Coffee, etc. I think Mountain Dew kills plants so I can't use that. So how do I get caffeine for the plant that won't kill it? I'm planning on using a Lima bean plant.
Answer: I would try to do a few different plants and see how different forms of caffeine react on the different plants. For instance, some forms of caffeine could be an energy drink like Monster Energy, or you could just try plain old coke. Convenience stores usually sell some sort of over the counter STay Awake or caffeine pills, you could try those too. The pills would probably be your purest form of caffeine. I know Walmart sells a type called No Doz (No Doze).
Question: Would the caffeine in an apple give me an energy crash? If I had an apple for breakfast (and I've heard apples have more caffeine than coffee), would it give me an energy boost and then a crash later on in the day? Also, does caffeine make it harder to concentrate, focus, and stay still?
Answer: it helps your brain wake up but it doesnt have any caffeine
so it might make you jittery i guess
Question: What is the best way to stop caffeine without the headaches? I have a really bad pepsi addiction. Well, more it's that I am afraid of getting a caffeine headache. The trouble is is that I also have migraines. I've tried to stop soda before, however I got caffeine headaches that most of the time turned to a full blown migraine. Which puts me out of commission. I have two toddlers, so I don't have time to be out with a migraine. Any suggestions other than caffeine pills? The caffeine pills don't seem to work and are awfully expensive when trying to compensate with them.
Answer: to break mine...I took advil on schedule from the second I got up to bed time everyday for about two weeks. I also loaded up on ice tea and water....If you keep your stomach full of water...you won't crave the soda... It took me about two weeks of doing but I have been soda free for about three months now... The headaches are the worst but if you can get thru the headaches your clear.
Question: Where do companies get tasteless caffeine for beverages. How do water joe and other caffeine waters do this? These companies are able to make caffeinated water with a lot of caffeine that would usually make them very bitter. What process do they use, or what company do they outsource to to get this accomplished? I am looking for actual company names, or an actual tasteless caffeine powder.
When beverage companies make their drinks, they use powder additives. So, when Water Joe is making their caffeinated water, they use some sort of caffeine powder and add it to the water, and its either tasteless, or they treat their solution afterwards to make it tasteless. So that's what I mean by tasteless powder for beverages.
Answer: Caffeine is not tasteless, it's actually very bitter. To hide the taste they (1) use very little (12-45mg on average) and (2) use sweeteners. Also, pure caffeine is dangerous. It can kill if you ingest around 10 grams in a day. That's almost impossible to do with drinks (80 cups of coffee or 240 cans of Coke), but easy to do with powders.
It's available online in 100 gram batches. I don't give out the link because, if you kill yourself with too much, I won't be responsible.
Question: How long does it take to get addicted to caffeine, and how long does caffeine withdrawal last? I am wondering how regular/long-lasting/at what levels caffeine must be consumed to create a caffeine addiction, and once caffeine is no longer consumed, how long withdrawal symptoms last. Also, after how long does one have to increase caffeine intake to continue to see effects?
Answer: i think it depends on the person because i used to drink a ton of soda (3 cans a day) for like 12 years and i stopped altogether and never got any withdrawal symptoms while my sister drank 1 cup of coffee a day and stopped for one day and got a massive headache. so....it really depends on the person
