Compulsive Eating
Question: Compulsive Eating!!!!? Heey... i am sort of a compulsive eater... im not overwheight but i do tend to sit n eat desperately sometimes... dunno how to make this stop, ne ideas???
I do have a job.. n i go to college... it may be more like stress eating but still I dont know how to stop lol...
Answer: Don't buy too much food and don't put them near you! Thank about the possiblity that your stomach may be over working and kind of damaged by eating too much. Go out to have fun with friends when you feel stressed instead of staying home. The last trick - chew gums or drink water when you can't help eatting!
Question: Compulsive eating...? would you consider it an eating disorder?? because many times that i feel upset i just can't stop eating!! everything in sight i eat...and afterwards i don't throw up or anything, but i really want to. but is binging w/o the ability to stop considered an eating disorder??
Answer: it is a mild case of an eating disorder, cuz like you said you're thinking of purging but don't do it. If it's making you uncomfortable and it's on your mind, yes, once again, I would consider it a MILD case.
I don't think you need to see a specialist or anything, but you do need to revise your eating habits. I'm not saying - STOP DOING IT - since, obviously, you would like to, but don't know how. Is there extra stress in your life? Is something/someone really bothering or upsetting you? You need to deal with these issues first, and fight stress in other ways than binging. Try swimming (it's summer, yay!) or exercising, do sth distracting. Respect your body, you've only got one.
Question: How do can I stop my compulsive eating? Im thin and I used to play sports, but I dont anymore. Playing sports used to keep my compulsive eating weight off; but now that I've quit playing sports, I've gained about ten pounds and lost my muscle tone. How do I stop eating to compensate for my boredom, and how do I add some fun exercise to my life?
Answer: OH my goodness!! I am in the same exact position!! I am super tiny...or I was, until this year. And, I am addicted to food! I'm never hungry, but I can't help shoving it in my mouth! This is what I do to help:
If I am having chicken or something large, I break it into small p
Question: How do I fight compulsive eating? I am constantly craving foods since my new healthier diet. I even feel slightly hungry after light workouts and want to consume massive amounts of food. I just love the taste! What are some of the ways to deal with compulsive eating? Is my body lacking nutrients or does it just take a while for the mind to catch up? ANY help and advice would be greatly appreciated!
Answer: its good to try and do other activities that take your mind off of food. Try something that you like to do, it doesn't necessarily have to be a physical activity just anything that occupies your mind. This usually helps me. Hope i helped! :)
Question: how can i stop myself from eating so much/compulsive eating disorder help? i am struggling with a compulsive eating problem/disorder. can anyone give me some advice as to what i can do to control myself? because i am sick of food controlling my life and i want to be healthy. i am like 50 lbs overweight so i want to start losing weight instead of wasting more time eating like a big pig. this has been with me for almost 2 years. please help i am desperate!
Answer: I think you should first analyze when and why you eat. Do you eat because it's a way to deal with stress? Do you eat because it makes you feel better when you are sad/down? What foods are you eating? I believe these issues need to be address in to help you lose weight.
Losing weight is a combination of good diet and exercise. Start small and gradually increase your diet and workout regiments. For example, first start walking every other day, and gradually build it up to walking every day....and eventually to running to joining a gym. For your diet, I would do some research and gradually incorporate healthier foods into your daily diet.
Good luck to you.
Question: How can I stop my compulsive eating? I started when I was 11 because of my depression and ever since then I am addicted to it and I cant control it which has led me to be almost 30 pounds overweight. I try to do diets and exercise but my compulsive eating always stops me from reaching my goal of losing weight. How do I control my compulsive eating ???
Answer: what is your compulsive eating triggers? anger, sadness, joy, boredom, what?
i would research mindfulness - which helps you to understand your 'here and now' feelings when you're compulsively overeating. eating blindly does nothing to combat your addiction, but understanding the root of it will.
Question: What are some methods to deal with compulsive eating and comfort foods? I want to develop healthier eating habits and a healthier lifestyle - however I'm finding that under stress I keep going back to old habits and crave all the bad, greasy foods I was eating before. Just looking for some tips or suggestions.
Answer: Make sure you have a large healthy breakfast with plenty of fiber and protein.
The reason most people binge later in the day and evening is often a result of eating too little early in the day.
Try this and see if your cravings decrease.
Question: Compulsive eating disorder after anorexia? I had anorexia as a young teen, but now i believe I have a compulsive eating disorder. Very difficult because I am a runner and like to run road races but binging always throws my running way off. I don't purge. I did get help for the anorexia thankfully, but now it progressed to this. What could I do to help it?
Answer: Eating disorders involve serious disturbances in eating behavior, including unhealthy reduction of food intake, severe overeating and/or dangerous methods to prevent weight gain, such as self-induced vomiting. Severe eating disorders may result in serious health consequences including death.
Patients can be diagnosed with an eating disorder at any age, but they most often develop during adolescence and young adulthood. More women than men are diagnosed with eating disorders.
The most common types of eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. Other, less common types of eating disorders include pica and rumination disorder.

Question: How do you get to the bottom of compulsive eating? I know that extreme overeating is more an emotional/spiritual problem than a "dieting" problem. But how do you figure out what is causing you to do it? I've tried to find my trigger, but I just can't and I don't stop eating until I'm miserable. Frankly I'd be a very attractive person if I wasn't 265 pounds, and I'm just afraid I'm going to get worse. (I'm 37.)
Answer: i know this sounds dumb but prayer thats what helped me and continues to do so. i cried out to god for years about this one and finally he helped me. it was a living hell,i have an idea of the pain you must be experiencing and i know how horrible a world it is you are feeling with this problem and by the way im sure you are already attractive even with the weight on but i know you're the one who has to look at yourself in the mirror and you break your 'standard' of what beauty is. i remember being revolted at myself about how i ate and about how i felt and looked. im so sorry for you but at the same time excited that i know that a loving god does hear our prayers and if you dont mind i will be praying for you darls. i know it doesnt sound like much of an answer but really with any addiction most people find that a higher power is the only real long lasting answer and yes it is an addiction. food comfort amongst other reasons only god knows. LOVE TO YOU MY DEAR FROM THE FATHER!!!!!!!!!by the way im not a religious nut just a person with empathy that really wants your freedom from this sad place you find yourself. michelle
Question: How do I stop this weird compulsive eating? I just moved to a new place and I'm trying to find a job. I'm lonely and anxious. I'm usually around 120 lbs. and I eat well but for some reason this past week I can't seem to go longer than 30 min. without eating. I'm uncomfortably full right now but I just got through eating a special k bar. How can I stop this?
Answer: You need to stop the loneliness and anxiety. Go to your neighbors, find someone to hang out with. Lots of people find comfort in food, if you'd just stop the loneliness and anxiety the overeating would stop too.
Question: How can I stop compulsive eating? In the past month I've gone from 7st ll lbs to 9st 1lb. I don't know what has triggered me to start binge eating and I feel like I can't stop. Afterwards I feel disgusted with myself and plan to return to my former super-healthy eating habits the next day but somehow I end up binging again as soon as evening comes in. What can I do?
Answer: close the fridge
Question: How to deal with my issue behind compulsive eating? Ex cheated on me in 2004. We broke up. He's been with "that girl" ever since. I was very sad at first and didn't feel like eating. Then, somewhere along the line, i started over eating and it's been a compulsion ever since. I tried going to 2 differernt counselors but I found no help at all. I eat a lot all the time, but I work out to keep the weight off and no one really can tell that I have this problem. I know it's because I felt hurt in the past over the ex situation, and before I start eating I think of how I am only ruining myself because I can't let go of the bad feelings that I was left with. I know I should be over this by now and the over eating is driving me crazy. I've recognized the problem, but what can I do to let go of the food issue? Please help.
Actually, I have been dating someone for about a year, and I love him, but I still am hurt a little by the past.... sad I know.
Answer: Well first off, if you think the problem is getting out of hand you might need to go to a psychologist to help you out. If you think you can handle this on your own there's a few tips I remember from my studies.
1. Try to eat foods that fill you up quicker without eating too much of them(salads with wide leafs in them)
2. Try to not finish a portion of the meal on your plate, this will get you in the habit of eating less.
3. Keep a journal of what you're eating, see if there are things that you can do without.
4. Keep to a strict schedule of when to eat. When you are on a schedule there is less of a chance of snacking between meals.
There might be more tips that are better than these but these are what I can remember off hand. Goodluck.
Question: How do you recover from compulsive eating disorder without going to a doctor? I hate my doctor but i need 2 get over my disorder.
Answer: If your medical doctor doesn't work for you, get another doctor. And you might want to get psychological help. A relative recovered from a severe eating disorder with medical and psychological help.
Question: How do I overcome compulsive eating? I am 34 yrs old and have now hit the 16 stone weight on my scales. My ideal weight s around 10 stones.
I have tried every diet going, from weight watchers, slimming world to Rosemary conleys and even tips from my Gp. I have a large appetite, and even though I dont scoff chocolate or takeaways constantly, I think my portion sizes may be the problem. If I put less on my plate though, I often feel hungry afterwards. Any help out there or tips to reduce the amount I feel I need at each meal?
Answer: Well i often found that boredom was my main problem and i ate to pass the time, so i got out more and changed my diet too, i ate simple low fat meals like pasta in low fat sauces that i made from just tomatoes basil and garlic and onions, i cut out on bread and biscuits and ate loads of fruit and veg and i went from 15 stone down to 11 which is my ideal weight, also i cut out sugar filled drinks and cut down on the sugar in my tea, and now im at my ideal weight i can eat basically what i want as i now burn it off by keeping active.
Good Luck :-)
Question: Is compulsive eating until you could bust an eating disorder? I do this all of the time. I don't make myself vomit, but have huge BM's afterwords and constant hemorrhoids. Any advice?
How can it be bulimia if I don't force myself to vomit?
Answer: yes. Binge eating is a separate eating disorder in itself. I suggest going on a vegan raw food diet for awhile. I know it sounds kooky, but you will be able to eat as much as you want (or in this situation, have the compulsion to) without gaining weight. You will also be eating very healthy food, getting lots of nutrients, and it's a little self limiting. You really can't eat yourself to death on fresh fruits and vegetables. I've been doing it for a few days and I feel very healthy. My appetite is very decreased, and I have lots of energy. I don't know what is at the root of your disorder, but it's likely party physiological (high calorie malnutrition) and partly psychological. Start with the diet first, it will help you transition to normal eating. You may also need psychological help. I'm guessing you probably have some anxiety issues as well. You may need medication or counseling.
Do a search for raw food diets. Green smoothies really help with food cravings too. Do a search for them too. I think it could help you get the nutrition you need and help you make a transition out of this. I accept private messages, please message me if you need support.
Question: Is it ok to have lollipops and gum to curb compulsive eating? I'm trying to lose weight and it is impossible because I lack the willpower and I eat whenever I'm bored, even when I'm not hungry. Is it ok to have a lollipop or something when I get cravings or is it too much sugar?
Answer: Well if you eat whenever your bored maybe you should try to do something else....maybe go for a walk, watch tv, play a game, go on the computer anything that will keep you from eating. It's okay to have a lollipop and gum once in a while but not a regulaur basis.
