Answer: Tried it, no good effects and I got diarrhoea.
Expensive too.
Question: What do I need to know about CoQ10 (supplement for energy)? It says your body produces less as you get older... does that mean the supplements are only for old people? I'm 29.
What's a good dosage? Tablets seem to vary between 2mg and 50mg! What happens if you take too much?
When is the best time to take them? Morning? Evening? With meals?
Anything else you can tell me that might be useful?
Answer: Yes, it's true that the body doesn't produce as much of it as it gets older, but some younger people are lacking it as well. There are a number of younger people (in their 20s, for example) that take it on a regular basis for more energy or to help their heart or other parts of the body.
A good dosage? Well, that depends on how much your body needs... it's like asking how much water someone needs... or how much air or sugar. CoQ10 is a nutrient that exists in all humans and many animals, so it's needed, but each person needs different amounts, based on their body size and how much their body consumes.
The most popular doses that customers tend to start with is anywhere between 60 and 100 mg (we have doses between 10 and 600 mg). One thing that's both good and bad is that it's very difficult to overdose, but if you take more than your body can use, it may be excreted... and that's a rather expensive ingredient to excrete too much of it. If you take way too much (like jumping to the 600 mg dose right off the bat when you might only need 60), then some people get a little jittery from all the extra energy, but nothing too bad. I'd say start with a 30 or 60 mg dose to see how your body responds to it. You can always go up in dose if you need more of it.
The best time to take it would be any time of day that you may need more energy. Most people take it in the morning (energy for the day), but I've had a number of people tell me that they take it in the early afternoon when they normally start getting tired. I would avoid taking it in the evenings until you get used to it because you might feel the increased energy until after you want to go to sleep.
Common doses of CoQ10 can be taken with or without food... you can generally take it either way.
Oh, there's so much information about it. It's good for cellular energy production (specifically, it helps in the production of ATP), heart health, immune system health, healthy oral tissues, and it's even a good antioxidant.
Also there are a few good quality companies that have discounted price, so I'd check with them for the best deals. The main ones are http://www.swansonvitamins.com http://www.puritanspride.com and http://www.vitacost.com
Feel free to ask me any more specific questions.
I hope I helped!
Question: are there any foods that can duplicate the CoQ10 supplement?
Answer: Not in any significant amounts:
1st link excerpt:
"The highest dietary sources of CoQ10 come from (in descending order according to content): fresh sardines and mackerel; the heart and liver of beef, pork and lamb; and the meats of beef and pork, along with eggs. ...These foods must be fresh and unprocessed (no milling, canning, freezing, preserving, etc.)."
The 2nd link is to a book that apparently has listed all the nutritional sources of CoQ10 and their amounts.
Personally I'd go with a soft gel. 3rd link is my favorite online store. Great quality, prices and service.

Question: what is the composition of coq10 supplement?
Answer: That depends on what you mean by "composition". If you mean the chemical structure, you can see an image of it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coq10
If you mean the makeup of a pill, it's most commonly in a capsule or softgel (which is the best way to absorb it because of the fat-based delivery system), but I have seen it in other forms before.
If you are wondering something else, feel free to send me an E-mail.
Question: Anyone out there take the supplement, coq10? Have you found this to be beneficial? What are some suggestions?
Answer: Yes take 100mg daily, it is widely used in Japan to treat heart disease.
Question: Questions about supplement CoQ10!!!? Do I even need it? How much do I need?
I have been doing alot of cardio and running lately and thought that I should get a vitamin for my cardio vascular system and help strengthen my heart (along with my regular multi-vitamin), I was told to take CoQ10 100mg, by a vitamin store associate. I wasn't sure if the amount is right for me (I weigh 185lbs) and if its even something I should be taking.
Answer: COQ10 is also called ubiqunoine. That comes from ubiquitous, meaning it is all over. Your body has and uses a lot of COQ10.
Are you taking statins for cholesterol control. If so you need COq10.
Do you have gum problems or muscle problems, weakness? COq can help.
Are you in heart failure? Then you need.
Do you eat a balanced diet, with meat and not have those other problems? Then likely you do not need more COq
100 mg is not going to hurt you in any way, you may not need it but it won't hurt.
In general most people in America could benefit from taking Omega 3 fish oil supplements. That will help your heart, skin, circulation and a bunch of other stuff. If you don' eat fatty fish at least 3 times a week you need to supplement at about 2-3 grams a day at your weight.
Question: Supplement before excercise (CoQ10)? Female, age 30.
I workout vigorously 5-6 days per week. This is high intensity cardio most days and strength training 3 days per week. About 20 min before my workout, I take a really good radical fruit antioxidant forumula because it is my understanding that the high intensity cardio actually creates fairly high levels of free radicals in the body so the antioxidants before the workout helps to zap those free radicals as they are formed.
I have read that some people take CoQ10 a few minutes before a workout. What does this supplement do as it relates to diet/fitness/excercise? Are there other supplements that are important to take pre or immediately post excercise?
I take a good multi and eat very well.
Answer: CoQ10 is a supplement which helps support your liver, kidneys, heart etc. Especially as we age, and with the gracious help of free radicals our major organs take a beating as well. It is good to take this supplement even if you do not exercise! It will just help and support your organs from being overworked. It's great that you are already using a multi. Is it organic? The best sources of vitamins are organinc, that goes for CoQ10 as well. I know some great of some sources that deal with exercising and replenishing your body.
Question: In the diet supplement world, I have a product called CoQ10 and N.A.C.What is it? What do these do? It also contains Biotin and MSM. What are they?
Answer: Coq10 will help you lose weight by stimulating your metabolism.
N.A.C. is a precursor to the amino acid Glutothione and will help you maintain muscle mass.
Question: If I am taking 10mg Lipitor daily, should I supplement with CoQ10?
Answer: Doctors and pharmacists typically say they've never heard of this recommendation. I don't think the maker of Lipitor includes this recommendation currently. Reportedly, they did recommend it after their initial research and found that Lipitor lowers CoQ10 levels, which is necessary for muscle (heart is a muscle) functioning. Read "The Cholesterol Myths".
Question: Are CoQ10 supplements good for your skin and hair?
Answer: Yes, it is good for the skin. I don't know about the hair.
The best to you.

Question: How much CoQ10 can I take? I just started to take a supplement known as CoQ10 to promote heart health. Its only 100mg (one tablet per day) is it okay to take more then that? There is 200 Mg tablets so? also my fish oil is 1100mg plus EPA of 600 and DHA of 240. Can I take two of these as well?
Answer: Read and follow the instruction on the label.
Question: Information about, CoQ10 Supplements? I'm doing a research paper for school on heart health, and I was wondering if anybody could recommend some books and some websites about alternative medicines for the heart like coq10 supplements or other nutrients. Thanks.
Answer: If your school library has these, check out "The Miracle Nutrient Coenyzme Q10" by Emile G. Bliznakov or The Coenzyme Q10 Phenomenon by Dr. Stephen Sinatra. These books are highly rated for the topic you had mentioned. I heard that fish oil is good for your heart as well as b-complex and L-Carnitinite Fumarate. I've provided some links for some added information to your research.
Question: Two questions about COQ10....? 1) Will a CoQ10 supplement only help me if my body has a deficiency of it?
2) I was looking at a multivitamin that contains 2mg CoQ10 - is this really enough to make a difference?? CoQ10 alone comes in doses up to 60mg!
Answer: 1) No. You'll notice the most benefits the quickest if you were deficient before taking it, but even if you've got a healthy amount in your body, taking it supplementally will help you to keep a healthy amount.
2) Not really. 2 mg is hardly anything. In fact, we carry doses between 10 and 600 mg because different people have different needs. The most popular doses are 60 mg and 100 mg, but the best dose for you will depend on your body's needs... either of those would be a good starting point to see what you need.
As you've probably seen, CoQ10 is a rather expensive product, so I'd suggest checking out some of the lower cost companies that have good quality. A few of those are http://www.swansonvitamins.com http://www.puritanspride.com and http://www.vitacost.com
Any of those will have good prices and good quality, including on their CoQ10. Good luck!
Question: What is the best supplement to take to reverse aging? Thre are tons of things out there - which works the best? HGH, CoQ10, DHEA etc. I hate to wast my money on worthless or even harmful substances...
Answer: I take a good quality bovine colostom. Try getting one that is 6 hours max.
Question: Which supplement is better for the heart? I was wondering if Omega-3 or CoQ10 is better for the heart and circulation. I have also heard that magnesium is great, but which is the best?
Answer: potassium is good like bananas etc
