Diet And Exercise
Question: How can I work a diet/exercise routine into my inconsistent work schedule? Over a year ago I started trying to live healthier.I've tried eating better & exercising more along with establishing a better sleeping pattern. My problem is my work schedule. It's extremely inconsistent.I'm salaried so I'm required to work a minimum of 50 hours per week.I'm the manager of a restaurant,so I never have the same schedule.I never have the same 2 days off.My shifts tend to be at least 10 hours. My schedule this week, for example:M(off) T(9am-7pm) W(9am-6pm) Th(off) F(3pm-2am) Sa(3pm-2am) Su(9am-7pm). It makes it VERY difficult to eat meals at the same time every day much less plan them all out/cook them.Trying to find a regular time to exercise is a nightmare. And I'm not on a very good sleep schedule.I'll get 4 hours a night on avg for a week & a half, then get 16 hours in one day because I'm so tired. Is there anybody else out there who has this problem? What are your ideas for developing a diet/exercise/sleep routine despite my work schedule?
Answer: oh wow, I feel your pain. I gained almost 20 lbs over the last year, and I don't think it's worse eating, I just don't have time to work out : ( I work fulltime and go to school, I just can't study well while doing cardio, so studying usually gets my spare time. when I am doing what I should do, I will get my work and school schedule and write in a time to work out, and keep it like it is an appointment that has to be kept. its really hard though to be disciplined when you just don't have any spare time and when you have a little you just want to relax. I also try to walk on my half hour break at work, I can get in a mile and a half on my break.
Question: How long does it take to get noticeable results when starting a diet/exercise program? I started a diet/exercise program to gain muscle (where they lift weights and do a bit of cardio 5 days a week), and eat healthy (balanced diet, with emphasis on lean protein and lots of veggies). How many days does it take to get noticeable results?
If you have personal experience with this, please tell me how long it took before you or someone else noticed changes in your body.
Answer: oh
Question: What is a successful diet and exercise regime? I'm seventeen, and not fat, but want to tone up my entire body (especially stomach and back) before summer. What is a good 6-8 week diet/exercise plan that I could follow?
Answer: if u want to tone up ur whole body then as u said that ur r not fat
then its ok
but if u want to tone up do a little exercise
that is 5 min of cardio and strength training for 3 days per week
search in google for exercising to tone up body
i m sure that u will be satisfied with the results
and remember eat healthy and stay good
hope that it help
Question: What is the best diet/exercise possible to go on? I'm looking for an excellent diet and exercise plan?Something I can do with walking,I like to walk.Looking to eat a lot less and lose a lot of weight by the end of the summer.
Answer: don't follow an already made diet plan. you know whats good for you and whats not. its more about having the mental toughness to stick with it. I would suggest doing some research on the foods that can benefit what you are looking for.
First of all drink lots of water!!!! < very important
cut out soda, potatoes(of all types) , junk food( there really isn't a point to eating desert, if your still hungry then eat a bit more of your main course),
cut way down on carbs, if you do have bread make sure it is whole grain and only have a small amount.
if you really wan't to lose the weight, you have to do these types of things without cheating!
also, walking is good but will not get you the results you want, you need to find more exercise, lifting weights is a great way to burn calories, but you can decide what is best for yourself.
Question: What is a good diet/exercise routine that I will be able to follow now as well as back in college? I am interested in starting an exercise/diet routine that I will be able to start now and continue (will still be feasible) when I move back to college at the end of August. I guess I was just kind of wondering if anyone had any good suggestions of diets and exercises that worked well for them. I’m not in dire need of drastic weight loss, but would like to lose 10-15 lbs (I currently am 20 years old, 5’6’’ and about 140lbs).
Answer: i am in college as well, and what I do is I eat no more than 1300 calories a day, and I walk at a brisk pace for an hour 3-4 times a week. I do this early in the morn before classes because its much cooler. It has worked for me for 4 months and I have lost a total of 25 pounds. Stay away from fried foods and sweets, sodas, and most breads, and starches. It will be hard to give up the good stuff, but its worth it when you realize you can wear whatever you want. Good luck.
Question: Is it possible to reverse plaque build-up in the small arterioles through diet/exercise? I fear I may be developing PAD - peripheral artery disease - like my mother had. I've had some numbness in my toes of my left foot, and my mother lost her toes eventually. Is it possible to reverse damage and plaque build up through losing weight, diet, exercise, or is damage done to the small arterioles permanent?
Answer: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD), also called peripheral vascular disease, is atherosclerosis of the extremities (virtually always lower) causing ischemia. Mild PAD may be asymptomatic or cause intermittent claudication; severe PAD may cause rest pain with skin atrophy, hair loss, cyanosis, ischemic ulcers, and gangrene. Diagnosis is by history, physical examination, and measurement of the ankle-brachial index. Treatment of mild PAD includes risk factor modification, exercise, antiplatelet drugs, and cilostazol or possibly pentoxifylline as needed for symptoms. Severe PAD usually requires angioplasty or surgical bypass and may require amputation. Prognosis is generally good with treatment, although mortality rate is relatively high because coronary artery or cerebrovascular disease often coexists.

Question: when you diet or exercise to lose weight, do you have to keep your diet/exercise routine like that forever? if you go on a diet that cuts out certain foods, does that mean that if you start to bring those into your diet after you've lost the weight will you put the weight back on?
same with exercise, say you did 10 crunches a day and 30 mintues of running, would you have to carry on doing that everyday even after you've lost the weight or if not would you put the weight back on?
Answer: If you have gone overboard with the dieting and exercise, for example cutting out food groups and exercising most of the day 7 days a week, then you are setting yourself up for failure.
Because everything is in excess it is a shock to your body's system, and yes you it may result in fast weight loss, but it is harder to maintain it.
You won't necessarily put all the weight back on but it is more likely to creep up a little because your body will have to adjust to the change again.
The best way to do it is CHANGE your lifestyle for the better, and that just means eating healthily and leading an active lifestyle. This can include simply eating in moderation and walking more and taking the stairs and any extra exercise that you do is a bonus. This allows your body to find it's own sense of equilibrium and reach it's natural weight (some people are not meant to be 7-8 stone and a size 6).
To me it sounds like the exercise you are doing isn't in excess, unless you do it 7 days a week which may strain your body over time without rest.
I hope this helps,

Question: What is the best way to diet & exercise when all the healthy foods are so expensive? Financially I am not able to join a gym, or any of the diet plans like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. I am slowly losing weight by speed walking and cutting back on my food intake. I was wondering if there were any good specific exercises I could do. I set small goals so I don't get discouraged and rarely set a time frame, however I am in a wedding at the end of July and I'd like to look my best. Any suggestions?
Answer: Be honest with yourself. There is only so much you can do in a month, and it can be a little dangerous to starve yourself or overdo it with exercise. The thinnest and healthiest people are not necessarily the ones who go to the gym, but the ones who exercise outside doing things that excite them and therefore become a fun and sustainable part of their lives. Going for a walk or run outside is usually a lot more stimulating and rewarding than doing it on a machine in the gym. So I think you are doing well if you are seeing regular progress. I would simply continue to be careful about food quantity. You might want to add a second type of exercise to your weekly routine, including workouts with simple weights, which you can buy cheaply at a sporting goods store. Sleep well. Avoid alcohol. Keep the routine and be proud of yourself that you are making progress.
Question: Is 6 hours too many hours a day to be active? Is this a healthy diet/exercise plan? Well I'm on a diet and I'm 5ft 10inch tall and 150 pounds. I used to be 130 a few months ago but recently I've been really lazy. For my diet I will be eating 1,800 calories (in healthy food) over the course of the day, exercising 30min-1 hour 15min a day and being active 6 hours (not extremely active but not sitting and just doing little things around the house that keep me moving. Is this a healthy diet/exercise plan?
Answer: sounds like a practical plan! make sure u take a rest day from your diet everynow and again so u don't burn out and get bored
Question: Can you give me a healthy diet/exercise plan? Hi, I'm 16, female, and weight over 60 kg (about 133 lb). I want to lose at least 8 kilos (about 17 lb) in 2-3 months. Can you give me a healthy diet plan, with light exercise, that will be effective? I don't have a lot of time for exercise as I am doing a ton of work in school.
Can you tell me how much weight I can expect to lose and in how long, if I follow it?
Thanks!
I'm 168 cm (5"6)
Answer: find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
Question: Should the government regulate diet/exercise products more? There are all sorts of wacky diet and exercise products out there. Most just steal money from people. Should the government set higher standards for these items? Would regulation help consumers from getting ripped off continually.
Answer: No. It's darwinism at it's finest. If you're not intelligent enough to figure out there is no magic pill or supplement to lose weight instantly, you're a real idiot and someone else will be taking your money anyway if not for the diet companies. Besides, if its not going to kill me, I don't need the government to be my mommy and daddy.
Nothing really beats exercise and healthy food when it comes to dieting. lol
