Facts On Vitamin C
Question: How many milligrams of vitamin C is 100% of your DV (Dailey Value)? I always read how much vitamin c is in drinks and food but it only says in % of your daily value, i want to know how many milligrams of vitamin C are in 100% of your daily value (which is on the label of products under nutritional facts) because when i take vitamins and vitamin C pills it gives me milligrams and i want to know how much of my daily value it is.
Thanks
Answer: The RDA for vitamin C is something like 50 mg of vitamin C per day but some references suggest that it is more like 100 mg per day.
References to 100% of your DV are probably based on 50 mg of vitamin C so that 100% per day = 50 mg per day.
Getting at least 100 mg of vitamin C per day would be desirable but you can probably get by on 50 mg per day.
Question: I have a rare form of cancer Amyloidosis. I would like to meet others whom have this disease or know someone.. I have posted this question before and got back some very interesing information. One piece of knowledge I found the most intriging would have to be all the advice I was given about Vitamin C.
I learned from one man that Vitamin C put his cancer into total remission and has been for over 15 years!! I hear Vitamin C works so well the goverment at one time thought to make it avaiable through prescription only.Wow!! Does anyone have any information about Vitamin C or testimonys. I would love to hear from you just to think something as simple as Vitamin C could do such wondors...why wouldnt the doctors, and FDA make this more known?? Is it because all the other pharmacutical companys would be losing out on so much money from all the other drugs when in fact Vitamin C alone works miracles....all information anyone can provide on the benefits of Vitamin C will be very helpful and much appreciated. God Bless!!!
Answer: At the moment no evidence exists that Vitamin C will cure cancer.
There is a Clinical Trial being conducted testing the safety of using Intravenous vitamin C with traditional chemotherapy for gynecologic cancers.
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct/show/NCT00284427?order=10
I am not sure from your description what type of Amyloidosis you have as this disease is not considered to be a form of cancer. The exception may be in people who also have Multiple Myeloma. Do you have Multiple Myeloma too? Either way the condition is rare and you must feel very lonely!
There is an online support for Amyloidosis:

Question: Find the amount of vitamin C in orange juice? NOT ON THE NUTRITION FACTS!!!!!!
i need an easy way to find the amount of vitamin c in different types of orange juice for a science project.
WOW, read the details in all CAPS!!!!
Answer:
Vitamin C can be determined by titration with DCPIP (dichlorophenolindophenol). Go to http://en.wikipedia.org, and plug that into the search box. This will give you a start on its analysis.
Wiki is an excellent source for all types of info...suggest you become familiar with it.
Question: I'm building the vitamin c molecule model and i would like to know what is bigger Carbon atom or the Oxygen? I know that hydrogen is the smallest but what about the Carbon and Oxygen. Some websites say that carbon is bigger because oxygen has more protons that are pulling on the orbits, but the other site says that oxygen is bigger because it has more electrons .Which fact is true???
Answer: Oxygen is bigger simply because it has more protons in the nucleus than carbon.
Question: will vitamin C still make my period start if it has rose hips? i read on a site about ''herbal miscarriages'' and it listed high doses of vitamin C without rose hips (rose hips prevent miscarriage) to induce contractions... now, i am absolutely sure i'm not pregnant (no sexytime), but i'm trying to get my period to come asap because i'm going on vacation very soon and even if i'm on the ending of my period during the beginning of the vacation, that's perfectly fine with me. ANYWAY, i figure that the herbal miscarriage just induces contractions therefor engage a period, that i could use it for myself to induce a period... true or false? same with the ''parsley tea'' herbal miscarriage, if this vitamin c thing works then i suppose the parsley should too.. but before i waste my time i want to know 1. does the fact that my particular brand vitamin C's have rose hips totally void the period-engaging factor?
thanks so much
Answer: from what I know vitamin C is taken by sport females to postpone their period.I know for me if I need my period to come on ntime or sooner I have to eat estrogen boosting food like soy, fennel, take an aspirin a night and have hot baths. However, unless you speak with your doctor you can never be sure I am right.
Good luck
Question: Potato chips containg vitamin C? I bought the cheapest no-name bag of rippled potato chips and checked out the ingredients and "Nutrition Facts" on the back of the back. The only ingredients were: Potatoes, Canola oil and salt. Nothing odd there, but when I checked out the Nutritious section, it stated that 50 grams of these potato chips provided 25% of one's daily requirement for VITAMIN C. I could see the part about 8% of daily iron needs in 50 grams of chips, but the vitamin C surprised me! Can there be a misprint or something? How come I never noticed this vitamin C in chips before? I tend to always read the info and ingredients etc?
*back of the bag* I meant to say
sorry
Answer: while Potato's are generally a good source of vitamin C, potato Chips are not . the way they are Made generally destroys most of the Vitamin C.. Potato Chips really have no Nutritional Value.. The Nutritional information you found on the package Of Potato chips is misleading.... heres a good link on that, hope this help..;;

Question: I think I just overdosed on Vitamin C!? Every day, I take a gummi vitamin (yumm!) that gives me 250% of the daily percentage of Vitamin C. This gummi is solely for Vitamin C.
But today, in addition to that, I also ate another gummi that gives me 33%. This gummi is a multivitamin.
But then I bought a fruit smoothie. It was a small container, and the serving size was half a bottle. I drank the whole bottle. On the nutrition facts label, at the bottom, it said 250%. Does that mean "per serving?" Or did the whole bottle just contain 250%?
Anyways, that's a lot of Vitamin C for today. Will it have any noticeable effect? DID I REALLY OVERDOSE? I need to run in the morning--I don't know if I will have diahrrea or thow up. But for now I am drinking a lot of water to try to flush it out.
Answer: Vitamin C is a water soluable vitamin. It is extreamly hard to OD on Vitamin C. Why? Because if you do have too much your body excretes it in your urine. Unless you have a genetic condition or problems with your kidneys, you are at no risk for anything major. Your body is prepared to do its job.
Question: B-complex, Biotin, A, C...which vitamin helps hair grow fast? Hello everyone.
My question is: which vitamin helps hair grow the fastest? I want to buy some vitamin pills but I'm not sure which ones since I've heard multiple versions. Some say Biotin helps, some say it does just the opposite, some mention vitamin C, some mention vitamin A etc.
The first reason why I want to buy vitamin pills is the fact that I used to have long hair but I kind of messed it up so I had to cut it to somewhere around chin length and it just doesn't look good on me so I want it to grow faster.
And the second reason is simple- it's the fact that I just want beautiful, long, healthy hair.
I dye my hair (now, I know what you're thinking- it must be damaged and that must be the reason why my hair grows slowly, but that's wrong. My hair isn't dry at all- my hair's health condition is actually great! I use conditioners and I take as much care of my hair as I can) and I don't want to stop dyeing it because it took me quite some time to achieve this color and I don't like my natural hair color at all.
So, basically, my question to you readers is "Which vitamin helps to speed up hair growth as much as possible?"
Thank you all in advance!

so try this...regular trims are a must, about every 7-9 weeks.(if your hair is really healthy then up the trims to about every 12 weeks, a trim is just a snip off the ends) if its been awhile since you have had a trim then inches may be called for to get to healthy hair. i use vitamin e on fresh washed hair.(its a vitamin that can be purchased where you buy vitamins, cut open capsule, squeeze into hand, rub hands together and apply to hair) dont message into scalp. if you get too much then just rewash it. hair will feel slightly sticky until dry then it will be nice and soft. it tames the frizzies, deep conditions and makes hair grow about three in a month. it takes about a month for the growth part of the e to kick in. the other benefits are instant. dont brush your hair but maybe three or four times a week to message the scalp, dry hair, never wet, i use a wide tooth comb at other times. brushing breaks off hair. biotin is cheap and also promotes hair regrowth and growth. i also have the biotin shampoo that i got from a vitamin store online.(puritans pride.com or vitadigest.com) five bucks for a big bottle and a big bottle of E is about 8 bucks. the biotin is about 3 bucks. i now take my fingers and message my scalp about five times a week, along with the brushing thats a good way to do it without damaging your hair. apply two or three capsules of e to dry hair and message into scalp and hair really well, put damp towel in microwave for 1 min to get hot, then quickly wrap head, a dry towel can be placed over that to help hold in the heat, leave on for 15 min, shampoo well, makes an excellent hot oil treatment. good luck, AND some people will argue about regular trims, your hair does grow from the roots, yes, but if your hair is not trimmed at the bottom, the it splits, get dry and brittle not to mention thin looking from no trims at all and frizzy. then your hair starts to break off at the bottom and giving you the appearance that it never grows. so to make hair grow as fast as possible and keep it healthy, then trims are an essential part of hair care. look on a ruler and check out less then half an inch and if your salon does not know what that is then take a ruler with you, i have. i added beta carotene vitamins to my regimen. i found out that along with the biotin it is very very good in promoting hair growth. they were five bucks for a bottle of 100. got them at walmart. the biotin and e can also be purchased at walmart, and adding all this up is pretty cheap to get great hair. the shampoo is now available in the new food lion stores. just found this out.
Question: Is ascorbic acid the same thing as vitamin C? In many, many of the sites I have visited, ascorbic acid is named as a synonym for vitamin C. Basically, they all thought ascorbic acid was the exact same thing. However, a few sites, as well as books, said that this was a complete LIE. They said that ascorbic acid is only one part of the vitamin C complex. It sounded absolutely believable, considering the fact that most people do not in fact know the truth of things. Kinda like the Romans stealing the Greek gods. To get back on track, other sites did mention this new theory about the vitamin C complex, but they contested its validity, saying that it was just a marketing ploy. I'm doing a project on vitamin C, so I kind of need to know this. Thanks in advance for your help. Oh, and if you're going to answer, please have a valid source, not something like "my brain ;p" because that is extremely annoying and very inaccurate. Thanks again.
Oh, there's no such thing as a vitamin C complex. It's puuuure fiction, just like the stuff those fools on TV say. That's great! Only I have no clue if that's actually true, because you failed to provide me with a source. And without a source (you know, a LINK to a WEBSITE or BOOK or SOMETHING) your answer is like me searching Google, and eventually saying, "Oh, I'm too lazy to go through with this search. I guess it's the same thing. Who cares?" So somebody needs to give me a good answer, with a valid source.
S.P.M., clearly you're not reading my whole thing. I put "my brain ;p" In case you weren't aware, ";p' is a silly thing a lot of stupid people would, in fact, use in that situation. I put this question up on Yahoo Answers because I thought someone might actually be able to provide me with a definite answer. And you clearly haven't considered this, if people have homework questions, and they answer other people's homework questions, then they're not all brainiacs who know EVERYTHING. I mean, no offense to actual teachers or people who are knowledgeable in this particular field, but if some random person sees my question and answers it , but doesn't actually KNOW the answer, then me putting the question up here is absolutely pointless. I didn't refer to people's brains to be insulting to people who actually use their brains, I put it up to clarify what kind of answer I NEEDED to this question, and I CERTAINLY didn't put it up to be lectured by you!
Answer: Ascorbic acid is a sugar acid with antioxidant properties. Its appearance is white to light-yellow crystals or powder, and it is water-soluble. One form of ascorbic acid is commonly known as vitamin C.

Question: Is it possible to harm children by giving them too much vitamin C? I gave my boys plenty of fresh citrus fruit and they had hot squuezed lemon drinks in the Winter and the *occaisional* haliborange tablet. They also had plenty of fresh vegetables and that gave them quite enough vitamin C (and I balanced their diets so that they had sufficient of the other vitamins that they needed too *naturally*).
My Grandsons I now find out are being given vitamin C tablets almost daily and have been since last Winter (probably to compensate for the fact that they do not get proper cooked meals with fresh ingrediants regularly) and I am worried that vitamin C in tablet form and regularly could harm them as their systems cannot cope with it.Their Mother says that you cannot overdose on Vitamin C and they will just flush any excess out of their systems naturally but I am not so sure.
I know for sure that overdosing on vitamin D by taking tablets is dangerous but does anybody kow about vitamin C?
Answer: What Happens If You Get Too Much Vitamin C?
Most excess vitamin C simply leaves the body with the urine, but continuous excessive doses can lead to bladder and kidney stones. Overdose of the vitamin can destroy B12, reduce the effectiveness of blood-thinners, lead to the loss of calcium, and cause diarrhea and nosebleed.
Too much of anything is'nt good for us, our body gets what it needs from what we intake daily but too much of anything can cause side effects as mentioned above.
Sincerely,
SuperDave

Question: Is it good to drink lemon water everyday? I've been trying to change my diet. Not because I'm trying to loose weight or anything, I am a very small person, but I'm trying to change my habits, such as making sure I eat my breakfast in the morning (never was a breakfast eater) and drinking water at least 3 times a day. I've always had a low immune system and mild to moderate acne that leaves scars on top of that. I was on birth control to help out with acne and irregular cycles, but once I got off the pill, it really threw my body out of whack, which is forcing me to go ahead and improve my intake. Not that what I have been doing is bad, but I know I can do better. I drink lemon water from time to time, but I heard that drinking lemon water everyday is a good source of vitamin C. The fact that I am easily catching stuff and work with kids, I figure this can help, along with taking a daily vitamin everyday. I heard that it can also help with acne and acne scars. Every once in a while I apply a dab of lemon juice on my scars just to see what happens. But mostly I drink the water. However, I'm concerned about what lemon water can do to the teeth. People have different opinions about it, but I was under the impression that the water would naturally delude the acid from the lemon. Of course, that is just my opinion. Is it good to drink at least one glass of lemon water a day along with my plain two cups of water?
Answer: Sounds like a great idea. how much lemon goes into a pint of water? I wouldn't worry too much about your teeth- if you're conscientious about cleaning them you oughtn't cause yourself a mischief.
I wouldn't fret about deluding the lemon juice either. ;)
Question: If the nutrition facts say "Not a significant source of__", does it contain it? My mom bought Kraft Jet-Puffed Marshmallow Creme (ew) and on the Nutrition Facts it says "Not a significant source of Calories from fat, Satruarted Fat, Trans Fat, Cholesterol, Dietray Fiver, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium and Iorn".
I was wondering if that meant it actually does have trans fats but not a "significant source" of them. Does anyone know?
Answer: yeah, it means it has it, but its not a lot
it's their way of making it look like their isn't any
see the clever play on words there?
Question: Quaker Chewy low fat granola bars, heres the nutrition facts, is it okay or bad to eat while on a diet? serving size: 1 bar (24g)

and whats the highest it should be at? like, ive read its best to eat foods below 300mg for sodium. and that total carb should be low too, but whats the highest healthy amount of grams?
so if you can, tell me what everything should be at the highest when trying to lose fat and weight.
Answer: Eh, I would stay away from them. They offer little nutritional value and only one gram of protein per serving. Not to mention that ANYTHING processed is not considered healthy.
In other words, it's not as bad as eating a krispy kreme, but you would be better off eating these to get carbs and fiber:
