Fantasy Football
Question: fantasy football? I am wondering if I made the right selections for my fantasy football team? I have Ben Rothlisberger at QB, Calvin Johnson, Chris Chambers and TJ Houshmandzadeh at WR, Shaun Alexander and WIllis McGahee at RB, Jeremy Shockey at TE, and JOsh Scobee at K. My question is first: Is this a good team and second; does it matter if a couple of my players are playing against each other in the first week? Is this going to hurt my rankings?
Answer: Okay, Roethlisberger is a pretty bad starting QB, I can understand the outrage. The lowest I go for my starting QB outside of the top 6 + Rivers, is Matt Leinart.
RB: You're looking real good with two runners that are the focus of their team's offense in Shaun & McGahee.
WR: TJ's always solid, Calvin's going to be great... and Chambers is only out for the first 4 games @ best, it was a DUI.
You're fine, but do something about that QB situation.
Question: Fantasy football? I would like to know websites that have free fantasy football but just need to know your e-mail adress.
thanks
Answer: www.foxsports.com, www.yahoo.com, www.cbssportsline.com all of these have free fantasy football and you can also go to espn.com when you search for fantasy football sometimes the free games don't show up until a couple of weeks before kick off of the season. I've already received an email reminder from foxsports and espn.

Question: What fantasy football site do you use and what site should we avoid? Greetings,
My friend and I are going to jump in and play fantasy football this year, against each other. (We asked a bunch of our other friends, but no one else is interested.)
Question. What hosting site do you prefer and why? What sites to avoid?
Our only criteria right now is that initially, we want a free site. Also, one that caters to newbies is probably preferred, since we might not know what we're doing for awhile.
Thanks in advance for all replies.
Wizard: It has nothing to do with Excel. Why do you think it should?
Answer: Leg is correct. Almost all sites have a 4 person minimum.
I use yahoo and espn at the moment, and I'd say they're about equal in terms of easiness to follow. But I think ESPN is better. And all major sites are free.
You do need at least two more players, though. They won't let you draft with just two.
Question: How can I start getting into Fantasy Football, and Football in general? Well, most of my friends are in Fantasy Football Leagues and they always are watching the football games. I never have any idea what they are talking about when they talk about the points and stuff. Is there any way I can start to get into the whole Football thing, and make a Fantasy Football league of just me versus some computer guys so I can learn how to do it for next year? Can someone just give me a brief rundown of how fantasy football works and how I can get into Football and Fantasy Football Leagues please?
Answer: Basically, you own a team and draft NFL players for various positions (QB,WR,RB,TE,Defense,Kicker). Once you have your roster, you pick and choose who you want to start and bench for that particular week.
Once your roster is set, you wait and see how each of your players did. Points come from Rushing, passing, and receiving yards and touchdowns for offense. Kickers get points for FG's made and extra points made. Some leagues give bonus points for distance.
Defense can be either a team or player depending on your league. you get points for points allowed, sacks, interceptions, touchdowns etc.
Basically go to the point section of your league to get the detaisl on points.
To join a league talk to your friends and ask them who is starting the league. You can also look for public leagues on here, people are always looking for players. good luck!
Question: What exactly is fantasy football and how does it work? My husband is doing that fantasy football thing and I would like to know what it is and how it works. Thanks!
Answer: Hi,
In fantasy football you're basically in charge of managing a "fantasy" football team.
You're given a team and have to choose the best players from the NFL to fill the spots on your team. Each week you trade/add players to your team depending on how other players do and who the players team is playing. Each team in his fantasy league does this and according to how each individual player does, he get's points for how they've performed (eg, Touchdown 6pts, rushing 100 yards 10 pts...etc etc). Some people gamble some don't. It's VERY addicting!
As his wife it's a good way to free up your Sundays and Monday nights to go shopping with his money while he watches football. :D
Hope this helped.
Question: Can the Yahoo Fantasy Football scoring settings be changed during the season? What is the latest can the scoring settings in our Yahoo Fantasy Football custom league be changed to whether or not we allow fractional points? We're doing a league vote on whether or not to do fractional points.
Thanks!
Answer: From what i remember, you need to set the rules prior to the draft, because there can be an uproar in the league if you change the rules mid-season. This happened to me in the league I was in (offline custom rules), and it would have changed the way I drafted had I known it would happen.
Try starting at yahoo and asking around. Hope this Helps...
Question: What Fantasy Football website is best for a lot of teams and offline draft? I am looking for a website that offers Fantasy Football for about 15-20 teams. Also, we were planning on doing the offline draft. Thanks for all your help.
Answer: Yahoo is very good and I also heard that fleaflicker.com was just as good.
Just stay away from Fox Sports. Had it last year and they screwed up every week.
Question: Who should I start in fantasy football, Willis McGahee or Edgerin James this week in the playoffs? Our fantasy football league has our playoffs during the football playoffs. I need to start one of these guys. I know that neither is a good option, but want some advice to see what others think.
Answer: McGahee willk get way more carries then james even though james has more upside mcGahee is the safer pick
Question: What do you hate about fantasy football keeper leagues? After running for more than a decade, our league is switching over to a keeper league. Wanting to learn from your experiences and ensure a smooth transition, we want to know what you hate about keeper leagues.
Check my other questions for related topics to fantasy football keeper leagues.
Answer: You may want to consider a "term" limit on keepers so someone cannot franchise the likes of a Thomlinson for his entire career all because someone was lucky enough to draw the first pick. This year, as Commissioner of my league, I installed a new rule that each owner loses the pick in the following year for the round in which he/she picked their keeper. Therefore, I picked Larry Johnson in the first round and TO in the seventh round last year. I am keeping TO so I only lose a seventh round pick.
It makes keepers more strategic and frees up the likes of a Larry Johnson in this case.
Question: How can i access my fantasy football on uverse if it is with another Yahoo account? I have two Yahoo accounts. One with AT&T and the other is just a Yahoo account. Can I access my Fantasy Football teams on uverse?
Answer: I would think so, but here's how to tell for sure. When you log in under uverse, go to the yahoo main page and look at the sidebar on the left where they list categories. If Fantasy Football appears alphabetically directly after Entertainment, that mean it's "reading you" as a fantasy account owner, and you can click on it and then go to the red tab on the right that says "Fantasy". Your name and teams will show up.
If Fantasy Football is at the very bottom on the sidebar (after yellow pages) it's not recognizing you as a fantasy player and it won't work.
Question: How do I start a Fantasy Football league without having to pay money for it? This is my first time being a commissioner of a league normally one of my buddies does it and the rest of the group gets the free ride. Now he fell of the face of the earth and the rest of us are trying to set one up. I went on the main Fantasy football page and tried to set up a custom league and spent 15 minutes going through the settings only to get the the very end were it says it costs $150! I know there is a way to start a free league but I cant find it? Any help would be much appreciated!!!
Answer: Go to Yahoo! Fantasy Sports. You can easily set up a league for free. I have done it several times. They will even make it easy to invite your friends to join the league as well.
Question: How do I start a fantasy football keeper league? I love playing fantasy football and this year want to start my own keep league. I have never played in a keeper league so need to know how to do it from scratch. Are there any websites to walk me thru it or anyone have tips?
Answer: espn or cbs sports..
Question: Where can I find starting percentages for fantasy football? I know of several places to get fantasy football ownership percentages, but I'm looking for starting percentages. (In other words, the percentage of fantasy owners that have the player in their starting lineup.)
Thanks!
Answer: It automatically shows you the starting percentages if your looking at someone else's or ur own team team. But if you're looking at the free agents you have to go to the scroll down with all of the weeks in it and click on research. It should give u all of the trends of the players.
Question: I want to start a fantasy football website but need help? I have come up with a different type of fantasy football game which is a mix of a survivor leage and regular fantasy football. I have a website and am looking to do a full launch for the 2008 season. Do I have to trademark my site or do anything before I fully launch? I am going to offer my game for free, as well as a money league. Does anyone know of a gaming regulations website? Any helpful comments would be greatly appreciated as I am just getting started.
Answer: If I were you i'd consult a lawyer. I'm not sure what you mean by a "money league" but i'm pretty sure, being a law student, that you're not allowed to conduct a website that has gambling on it given the fact that Bush has recently passed legislation limiting online gambling even further. If its a free website you don't necessarily have to trademark or copyright anything unless you want to copyright the java or C++ code you are using for your site (which is debatable). you cannot copyright an idea so that's out of the question but you can trademark anything you want if you have a symbol for your website. but like i said earlier, i'd consult a lawyer. you probably don't need to do any of that stuff if you're planning on keeping it a free website.
Question: How do you know what the fantasy football team projections are? In espn fantasy football under the scoreboard section, it says projections and weekly line. But when you click on it, it just says 0 next to all the players names. Why does it do this?
Answer: because they havent done projections for week one yet genius
