Question: Why do I get tired/sleepy after eating a candy bar or food high in carbohydrates?
Answer: I'm a Type 2 diabetic myself, and I can speak from experience here...if I eat something heavy in sugar or carbs, especially without anything else in my system, my body "crashes" after the initial sugar rush wears off. One of the big problems with Type 2 is the wild variations in blood sugar count at any given time...it's like your bidy doesn't react in any stable way to big swings in blood sugar count.

Food with high carbs are Rice, break, pasta. Everything has carbs in it even bananas.
Protein is usually meat - Redmeat, chicken fish etc
My partner was really skinny like a size 32 but 6'4 he has put on 30 kgs in the past 12 months more so from eating maccas LOL

Answer: Everything in any vending machine except for the beef and cheese sticks, or the pork rinds.
Anything at a donut shop except the coffee unless you put sugar in it.
Anything at a bakery.
Any soda that isn't diet.
Any fruit except tomatoes.
Pasta.
Potatoes.
You know, pretty much anything you can eat that isn't meat. I've never heard of anyone having trouble getting enough carbs before. Just one home run apple pie is about 75 grams right there.
A 1$ bag of candy at the gas station is probably 100 grams.

I've noticed that occasionally after eating foods high in carbs (usually a big bowl of cereal) I'll start to pass out a couple hours after eating. If I'm lying down, it's very difficult not to pass out. Also I've found when I'm in this state if I drink a glass of OJ I perk right up again and I'm back to normal. Answer: Next time you are at your Dr. or getting blood drawn have them run an A1C test on your blood. that tells over time if your blood sugar levels are controlled. Not just a regular blood test that checks for sugar levels in your blood at that moment.
Next thing is that very simple sugars are horrible for you and they spike your blood sugar levels then you have a bounce back effect that drops your sugar levels and you feel like you may pass out. this is why the glass of OJ (being liquid and full of sugar) perks you back up again.
Change your morning diet to higher in lean protein with less cereal (smaller bowl) and not sugar rich cereal but raisin bran or something with fiber and lots (8-12oz) of water with it (or you will have horrible constipation)
