Question: What are the ethical issues involved in the situation? How do the ethical issues compare to the legal issues? What are the ethical issues involved in the situation? How do the ethical issues compare to the legal issues?
Answer: In order to tell you what the ethical issues are, I have to know the situation.
However ethics and legality are two different animals, as it were.
Legality serves to help society as a whole which means that statutes are placed to affect an entire population. However this means that several people who don't quite fit into these categories aren't accounted for. This can cause large problems for the judicial system, however it is inevitable that some people aren't going to be accounted for when they apply specific laws governing an entire population.
Ethics serves to help society or a single person under a specific set of guidelines. That is to say, that ethics teaches people that killing and stealing are wrong, but other cultures might teach that stealing is alright under certain circumstances. Other cultures might argue that stealing is never wrong no matter what the circumstances were regardless of how justified you felt doing so. All of these guidelines that are taught to societies are ethics.
Most cultures or nations have what are called globally accepted morals regarding murder and rape. These are almost always looked at as a very serious infraction and usually punishments are anything from several years in prison to the death penalty. In this regard, the attitude between ethics and legality are the same, but the actual resolution is much different. Ethics and legality both state that murder and rape are considered wrong. However ethics does not state what the punishment (if there is one) is. Legality states in the united states that murder in the first degree warrants life in prison or the death penalty.
That in a nutshell are the distinctions between ethics and legality.
Question: How many non issues will the Republicans and their followers continue to lob at Obama? Most of the issues or 'non-issues' that they attempt to try to tie Obama too seem to be political. When are they going to start talking about real issues? Do they believe that they country is in good shape?
Answer: They're stooping to desperate levels calling him a muslim, criticizing him for not wearing a flag pin and saying his wife dresses to provocatively. Like Obama says "When they start bringing up things like this it just shows they've run out of negative things of substance to say."
Question: How are social issues different from economic issues? I have to answer this for class. However, I'm not sure what the right answer is. What I've come up with so far is that economic issues such as men and women receiving equal pay, are affected by social issues, such as society's view that a woman's work is less important. Any ideas?
Answer: There are a lot of social issues which have no relation to economics at all, both at national levels of society, and at family levels. Social issues are more of the abstract type (which you can't show physically) but most of the economic issues are of the concrete type (which you can show physically).
For example relegious fundamentalism. Religious fundamentalists don't quote any economic concerns. Their only point is the kind of belief in God.
Simlarly at the level of a family, there could be a social issue due to economics involved, like living standards, who should work, etc. But sexual issues are not related to economics in the family. Similarly bringing up children with cultural values.
Question: What issues are most important to you in deciding who to vote for this year? Experience? Change? The Economy? What issues are your hot button issues that will cause you to make an ultimate decision on who to vote for?
Answer: Government experience, strong foreign policy - keep terrorists on the run, small government (government doesn't have to fund EVERYTHING), pro-Israel. WHere economy is concerned, I'm keeping the dream of opening an independent bookstore... so I want someone who is going to be user-friendly to the small business owner. Strong military background, also important, since the pres will be COmmander in Chief of all the armed forces. Abortion is a key issue also. These are the big things to me.
McCain/Palin '08
Question: What issues should we be focusing on for the election and which candidate will best face these issues? This is for my government class so please include your age and gender. Name as many issues as you would like and tell me who and why that candidate will be the best.
DO NOT FORGET TO GIVE ME YOUR AGE AND GENDER, PLEASE!
Answer: Economy...McCain has better ideas here. Cutting taxes has ALWAYS increased federal revenue, but the federal government has always spent the increase and more. McCain wants to cut taxes AND cut spending. Obama and Clinton want to increase taxes and spending. This will reduce federal revenue by cutting jobs, and will send the deficit out of control.
War on terror. Hillary and Obama are either foolish enough to cut-n-run in Iraq, leaving Iran to overrun Iraq and cause mayhem in the middle east. More likely, they are just lying about cutting out, and would change their tune after the election. John McCain is telling the truth about Iraq. We need to finish the job of training and turning security over to Iraqis, and that will take time.
Illegal immigration...they all suck on this issue.
Male 53
iowagner...so you think Obama is best...with THESE ideas for your most important issues????
Iraq...cut and run, and leave the Iraqis to be overrun...only to invade Pakistan...an ally??? Therefore, costs would not go down.
Economy...you are a classist. Why is the middle class more important than the poor (who need more help) or the wealthy (who provide the jobs) Why does the government owe ANYONE a more comfortable living? They don't. I pulled myself out of WAY below the poverty level, and you want to give handouts ot the middle class. Get out your check book and GET OUT OF MINE!
Education...we need education reform because it is ineffective and inefficient. Throwing more money at it like Obama wants to is not going to work. We need accountability and competition like Bush's vouchers would have created. Throwing money at a busted system will do nothing...just like the last 10 times the dems have thrown money at it with no positive impact.
Social security...Obama wants to protect pensions which are almost non-existent, mandate employers to provide pensions, which will cost jobs because small business cannot afford it, and cut taxes on retired people, most of which are not paying taxes now, but ooooh it sounds nice.
Obama is a clueless racist pig. His "plans" are either inert but sound so nice or they would have a NEGATIVE impact on America.

Answer: Health care without a doubt. How can the United States claim itself to be the land of freedoms when 47 million are without such a fundamental human right?........We all ready have free health care. The catch is you have to be here illegally and speak no English.
Social justice issues like women's rights, ( You mean abortion) ending poverty,( So the solution is to let Government pay for everything and resdistribute the wealth. Question: What ethical issues are brought up when discussing the following experiments? Zimbardo’s Prison experiment,
Milgrams Obedience experiment
Zimbardo’s Paranoia in the elderly experiment
I am aware of the many ethical issues brought up by these experiments however, I am wondering if every one has the same opinion and what you all think about the subject. What main ethical issues do they have in common?
Answer: Ohhh I love these experiments.
My favorite ethical problem comes from a good story about the Stanford Prison Experiment. The only reason he ended the study early (it was supposed to run for 2 weeks) is because his girlfriend saw some videos of what was going on and threatened to leave him if he didn't end it immediately.
It's a good question. How soon after you know that something is harmful to your participants do you need to end the study? How much harm is acceptable, if you think that the harm will be temporary? Would it have been ethical to keep the subjects for another week, and run the risk that things would have gotten really bad, since they could have intervened if anyone's safety was at risk?
Should ethical issues in psychological research be decided by breakup?

Question: What issues are the new groups under the civil rights umbrella concerned about? What equality issues might arise in the near future?
I don't quite get these questions, so if you can explain it to me in the simplest way you can, i'd be very grateful! Thankyou.
Answer: Take NAACP for example. NAACP will most likely continue to progress their organization's base by promoting more and more civil rights reforms.
So, what does the NAACP care about today? And for the future?
Just read the NAACP Youth and College Division Mission Statement:
"The mission of the NAACP Youth & College Division shall be to inform youth of the problems affecting African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities; to advance the economic, education, social and political status of African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities and their harmonious cooperation with other peoples; to stimulate an appreciation of the African Diaspora and other people of color’s contribution to civilization; and to develop an intelligent, militant effective youth leadership."
