Joint
Question: What kind of joint permits the turtle to hide its neck inside its shell? I know there are several joints such as: pivot joint, ball and socket joint, hinge joint, saddle joint, etc...... would it be something like the saddle join?
Answer: There is no "joint" per say, but they coil their head into their shell, kinda like how a snake can coil. Their neck is in an "S" shape inside their shell.
Question: How to make a joint between a concrete wall and drywall? I have a concrete wall between my neighbour and my house. The joint between the drywall and the concrete wall is cracking at some places. There is a small gap between the two wall now that I "cleaned up" the crack. Can I use regular joint compound or will it crack because of expansion differences between the drywall and concrete?
Answer: I believe it will just crack again. Try some caulk at that joint. Get the kind you can paint over or that dries the same color as your wall and it won't be noticeable.
Question: Can I add powdered joint compound with sand for locking in pavers? I know that just sand will do the trick but I would like to make sure they are locked in place. Would it be wise to mix some joint compound powder with the sand and they sweep that into the joints?
Answer: No./ Joint compound is designed as an indoor product and is not waterproof. Sand alone is fine. If you want to add something, add mortar mix. But, really, you don't need to.
Question: Can drywall joint compound be used to fill small gaps when installing self stick tiles over linoleum? I am going to install self stick tiles over linoleum and I have a few spots that need filled. I was wondering if drywall joint compound would work to fill in the small gaps. The room where the tiles are being installed is a bathroom.
Answer: With all due respect in Q&A I so often see the word "CAN"
My typical answer is..."Certainly"...usually followed by. "BUT you may not be satisfied after the fact."
The "gaps" in the old flooring? Are they at seams? from damage? Are they LIFTING?. Obviously any floor should be extremely clean for self stick, and the holes or whatever in the current flooring might be as shallow as 1/16th inch.
There are a couple options I'd try; short of ripping up the old flooring and proceeding.
Some type of patch that will harden, can be applied smoothly, will not be affected by moisture, and will allow a surface, "flush" with the current flooring. Even Liquid nails would be better at serving you than MUD.
Consider too, taking this extra, but valuable step.
Self stick,,,in my opinion, has a poor reputation. I refuse to install it. If so moved however I use a water based contact cement, Du Pont might be a manufacturer? What I buy is a nice Aqua color. It can be rolled or brushed on the old floor and the back of each self stick piece. It cleans up with water, as well as becomes as effective as the lacquer based contact cement. It also has less odor, and probably toxicity, as well as NOT being flammable.
Once dry however you won't be moving it once you've set a piece,,,so any notion of OOOPS should be taken into consideration.

Question: Is a Joint Vocational School good for kids who want to go to college? My boyfriend is not sure if he wants to go to the JVS (joint vocational school) but his mom and step-dad are pushing him over the limit and he doesn't know what to do. I have been telling him that the JVS is the worst idea if he wants to go to college(Which he does). I am just curious on your opinions of if you think the JVS is a good school for people who are planning on going to a four year college?
Answer back honestly thank you.
Answer: No, vo-tech is not a good choice if somebody wants to go to college. He should take college prep classes. Vo-tech trains you for jobs that don't require a college degree. For some people it's a great option but not if you want to go to college.
Question: Tax on joint interest income for couples living in different states? I live in CA and my wife lives in NJ. We have a joint account with a CA credit union. Now CA only taxes the interest of CA residents. Since my wife's non-CA income also contributes to this interest, how should I split it for tax purposes?
Answer: If your checking/savings account is community property, then half of the income is yours and half is your spouse's, for California tax purposes. If not, then any reasonable allocation based on the source of the funds in the account would probably be accepted.
Question: What are the options for a seized finger joint caused by an infection? I was bitten by a black widow on the last joint my middle finger, and it developed into a strep infection in the bone, joint, and tendon. This resulted in the last joint of my finger to become seized at a completely flexed position. This all happened the summer of 07.
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? Are there any helpful websites?
Answer: As long as you have no infection, I don't see any reason that you cannot get fitted for a splint for your finger that will gradually stretch your finger back. An occupational therapist can make one from plastic that can be molded and be fitted for you personally. I have not seen your x-ray, but the doctor would have to look and make sure that the bone did not change any (got thinner or grew in a way that would block the joint) prior to you getting a splint. If your regular doctor cannot help, see an orthopedic hand specialist.
Question: What's the difference between Joint custody and sole custody? My fiance has joint custody with his ex (they never got married). They had a 6 year old little daughter together. I am just wondering what is the difference between joint custody and sole custody. According to his ex, she wants sole custody of the daughter and collect child support.
Answer: Joint custody means that both parents have the right to make decisions (religious, school, medical) as to the best interest or needs of the child. You can have joint custody even if you're a non-custodial parent paying child support. Generally, joint custody orders of the court will award both parents joint custody with the child being in "primary residence" with just one of the parents.
Sole custody means that only one parent - whichever one has "sole custody" - can make decisions for the child and in the chlid's best interest, including moving out of state, medical decisions, school decisions, etc. This would mean that the mother would not have to cosult your fiance on any decisions she made for the child prior to doing so (although he could take her to court to challenge her decisions - this is a long and costly process).
The Court generally only awards sole custody in cases where the child's welfare is at issue, for instance if the child has a chance of being abused, abandoned or neglected if joint custody were awarded to the non-custodial parent.
Your fiance doesn't have to accept his ex's bid for sole custody. There are ways to go about fighting a motion for sole custody in court without an attorney, but since the subject matter is difficult to traverse, my best suggestion is for him to invest in hiring an attorney to defend his case, because the mother of the child will have to make allegations to the court as to why the child should not be in the joint custody of both parents, and this is a complicated legal process that will take someone with a lot of knowledge to defend adequately.
Best wishes,
BJ
Question: How can i get a Joint Equity with another person on my home and mortgage liability? What do i need to have a joint ownership(joint equity), with another person, on my home for which i currently have a mortgage? I want to have this other person as 50% owner of the home and as well as the loan liability.
The house is located in Orlando FL. US
Answer: The first step would be try to do a "streamline" refinance with your current. You can't just sign some one up to assume half your debt. Furthermore, most lenders will not allow a "non occupant co borrower" meaning, all people who are on the loan app have to live in the home. So, you could refinance, with you as the primary borrower and this other person as the co borrower, and therefore jointly assume the debt. Also, if you are married, I am nearly positive that Florida is a community property state, meaning, that even if your spouse is not on the loan to your home, if they live in it they own half.
Question: Can a joint return be deposited into my wifes indiviual account? My wife has a individual account that we use and we filed married joint. We use wachovia bank. Will they still accept the direct deposit, If not monday im running down there to put my name on the account.
Answer: I don't know about the direct deposit business, but if you want to get your name added to her account she will have to be there with you to say that she wants you on her account. (otherwise it would be like me going into a random bank and saying "hey, I want to get on John Smith's account. I'm his wife, its OK.")

Question: If I file joint return with husband will I be liable for back taxes he owe before marriage? We got married Sept 2007 and he owe back taxes of $3500 for 1996 tax year and $1400 for 2000 tax year. He is currently on disability due to kidney disease. I plan on filing joint return this year 2007 if any overpayment is due will I be penalized for his tax liabilities.
Answer: You personally cannot be held liable for his debts prior to the marriage, however if you file a joint return with him that shows a refund due that entire refund can be captured to be applied against that debt.
There are 2 ways to deal with that. Either bump up you withholding allowances enough that you have a small tax debt to pay at filing time OR file Form 8379 with your return. Obviously it's too late to adjust your withholdings for 2007 so the From 8379 is your only option right now. The Form 8379 will apportion your refunds. You'll get your share and his share will be captured against his debt.
Question: What are the joint movements in a baseball pitch? Im doing a project for school and i have to list all the joint movements in a baseball pitch in order. I have no idea how you play baseball, let alone how to pitch one. So i need help badly!
Answer: Pitching is a full body thing, you use every joint, from your feet, to your fingers. Which includes things from your hip, knees, elbow, neck, shoulder etc. If you didn't and you isolated some of these joints, then you could seriosly injure yourself.
Note: For a school project, google is probably a more reliable sorce, then a Y!A Answerer.

Question: What is a joint pain specialist called? I know the doctor said something about skeleto? I have had chronic severe hip, back and joint pain for the last 9 months and the doctor has referred me to a hospital specialist for treatment, injections, MRI ...? Can anyone tell me the title of this kind of specialist as I need it to fill in a DLA form? I know it was quite a long name and included something like skeleto?
Answer: Orthopedic Consultant/Doctor - Skeletal System
Rheumatology Consultant/Doctor - Musculoskeletal System
Orthopedic would usually deal with 'joint replacements' or broken bones and via surgery.
Rheumatologist, the name for the Rheumatology Consultant deals with Arthritis via drugs, injections, PT, hydrotherapy. Therefore I would state you will see a Rheumatologist first. Now IF say your hip is so bad that you cannot walk, or need lots of serious pain killers just to walk, let alone a zimmer frame, the Rheumatologist will transfer you to a Orthopedic Consultant for a hip replacement.
