Question: How can a paraplegic lose fat in their legs? I have a friend who wants to lose some fat, especially in her legs but she is a paraplegic (paralyzed from the waist down). How can she lose the fat when she can even move her legs without surgery to remove the fat?
Answer: You can't target where you want to lose fat. She could try reducing her intake of calories to lose weight overall, and that may reduce the fat on her legs. Can a physical therapist move her legs in some form of exercise so the muscles don't atrophy and her legs tone up? I'm not sure how that works with paraplegics.

Question: How do I lose 10lbs of fat and gain 10lbs of muscle in 10 weeks? I have read that its very difficult to lose fat while simultaneously putting on muscle, but it is still possible. Would it be possible to lose 10 pounds of fat and put on 10 pounds of muscle in 10 weeks?
If so, how would I go about doing this?
If not, what is an achievable goal I could aim for? Lose 5lbs of fat and put on 5lbs of muscle in 10 weeks?
Answer: well i guess you can possiblly lose 10 pounds of fat nd gain around a few pounds of muscle ( like 3 or 5 ) in 10 weeks..
by achieving this goal u may try to eat healthily and do a large amount of workout..such as lifting/ sit-ups/ jogging( or running..) and maybe add sum other sport which u like to do.. but dont starve cuz u'll probably lose energy to keep on exercising for the following days.
last tip: STRONG POWERWILL AND MOTIVATION !!
good luck dude ;D
Question: How to lose fat on thighs and legs without gaining muscle? I think I need to lose fat on my thighs and legs I've tried lots of things to lose fat there like squats, jump rope, running/jog, leg lifts but it makes my legs muscly but stay large
ps: I've tried diets and they don't work and give me good answers
Answer: You can target tone your legs by doing leg lifts and a lot of reps with only a little weight. However, to lose fat you need to lose fat over your whole body. So you'd need a good cardio routine, a workout to target your lower body (such as yoga) and a good diet.
Question: How to lose weight and fat without gaining muscle? I've gained nearly 8 pounds over just a couple of months, and I would like to lose it again. Is there any diet or exercise that I can do to lose all of it over a month's time? If it is an exercise, I just want to lose fat, but not gain muscle in it's place, is that possible? Also, my target area is my arms where there is the most fat.
Also, I would prefer any exercise that can be done at home in short periods of time, multiple times.
Answer:
Its strange to know that you dont want to gain muscle. If you start exercising, you will always put on a bit of muscle. It will only help you in your goald to lose weight.
here's what you can do
1. Based on your age, figure out your Basic Metabolic Rate- you can do this easily online.
2. Your goal must be to aim for 500-750 (not more) calorie deficit each day through a combination of a good healthy diet and exercise
3. Eat your breakfast. Research shows that breakfast eaters lose more weight than those who do not.
4. Eat 4 -5 meals spaced out at intervals of 3-4 hours each day. This keeps your metabolism chugging well throughout the day.
5. Once every week, do a high calorie or a high carb day. Give into your cravings, have that pizza slice. just to give your body a break from the dieting and help you to stay on the wagon.
6. Exercise is must, if you want to keep the weight off and not just be subject to the yo yo diet syndrome. Cardio and Weight training - both forms of exercise must be included.
7. What you can do at home at bodyweight compound exercises as well as cardio style workouts. Some examples are squats, pushups, lunges, burpees, skipping, pullups chinups, spiderman pushups. Just scour the web for bodyweight exercises and you will surely get a lot more. Even better get some basic weights - a pair of dumbbells to start off and you can increase the number of exercises manifold.
The gut/arms/thighs are just a storage area. The concept of spot reduction is a myth. Our simple goal is to put our body in an energy deficit, through diet and exercise, so that our body will then have to dig into its reserves. That's the gut, the hips, the legs, arms.
Again here, dont overdo the diet and skip the exercise. Our bodies are very smart. If they dont get enough food- presuming you go on a very low cal diet, our body tends to think that we are starving. Our metabolism goes down, the body then trys to hang on for dear life to the fat in our body. The exact opposite of what we aim for.
So eat well. Exercise well. Stay committed and you will melt that fat away.
Cheers!
Question: How can i lose fat without losing weight? I am about 5'8" 150 pounds and i play football. I am pretty fit and skinny but i have some unwanted fat. I need to know a way to lose the fat but not lose weight.
Answer: wow, isn't it amazing how people don't read??
First of all, I understand what you mean about not wanting to weigh any less. so basically, you want to build up muscle. doing activities that build up muscle rather than more arobic activities.
As you are building muscle, the fat will go away. muscle ways more than fat, so you can be smaller and weigh more.
Question: What is the best way to lose fat on your legs and thighs and calves fir them to look smaller? My friend is overweight and is trying to lose weight and she works out a lot. She runs, plays basketball, uses the bicycle and basically works out all day. Every other part of her body is losing weight except for her legs. She feels like her legs fat is turning into muscle and she hates it. She wants to know if she loses enough weight, it will automatically go away and what exercises she should do to lose it.
Answer: Everyone loses weight differently. Her legs probably will be the last place to lose the weight. You say she's working out a lot. What kind of rigor? Can she run 3 miles straight?
If she want to lose weight she needs to consume less calories than she burns, work out 3 - 4 times a week and lift weights. 12 - 15 reps for lean muscles.
For making sure you're running correctly, I always advise that you time yourself for 3 miles, on each mile. Reduce each mile by 30 seconds and work at that.
Also, eat lots of protein and good carbs. Cut back on sweets. You can still eat them, but you need to use moderation.

Question: What is a healthy way to lose fat quickly? I have a big swim meet coming up in a month and I want to lose fat so I go faster. What is a natural supplement free way for me to lose this excess fat?
Answer: eating proper foods and exercise
Question: What are some effective ways to lose fat, not weight? I need some effective ways to lose like body fat, specifically stomach fat but don't want to lose weight(like muscle). I mean it's okay if I lose a little but I know there are some forms of exercise that will lose fat while keeping muscle. What are they?
Answer: Weight loss is an overall process and there are no magic answers. Pay no attention to weight loss supplements and pills and all the latest fads. You need to think about many factors but most of them are related to issues we've known about for a very long time. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.
Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.
Make a few additional small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.
Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can't get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one.
In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.
Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate - in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don't. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.
Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.
Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.
Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.
Vary your routines. Don't eat the same number of calories every day (vary your calories from 1400 a day to 1900 or 2000 some days), eat a variety of foods, and do different kinds and amounts of exercise. You will lose weight much more efficiently if you mix things up from time to time so that your body doesn't adjust to any one routine.
An area that many people overlook is getting enough sleep. You are much more likely to overeat or to binge eat if you are tired and not well rested, so get enough sleep.
