Mcdonalds Nutrition Information
Question: Since when do FAST FOOD restaurants have to put nutrition information on their products? Hi, I am trying to find out when a law was passed stating that junk food chains are obliged to publish health and nutrition information. For example: the back of the piece of paper on your mcdonalds tray! Thank you!
Answer: THERE is a code of contact. but no law. as yet.
and McD want to get more custom so they try to do their bit.
Question: Chain restaurants- what sparked the introduction of publicly available nutrition information? I'm doing a report on this, and I'm curious as to the 'who, what, WHEN, WHY, and how' (emphasis on the capitalized) of what seems to be the new trend (or law?) or publicly available nutrition information for chain restaurants like McDonald's, Subway and Starbucks?
Please also provide your sources (so I can check for credibility) if you have an answer. Full stars for whomever provides the most informative answer! :)
Thanks!
Answer: National organizations that promote public health. This particular change was instigated by the Center for Science in Public Interest.

Question: Is there ANYTHING healthy at Mcdonalds? I went to the Mcdonalds website for their nutrition information and ingredients in their food. Even their "healthy" food is full of crap! Their buns have high fructose corn syrup in them, a food additive I'm avoiding consumption of. Their tortillas for their snack wraps contain vegetable shortening and partially hydrogenated oils, and all of their grilled chicken in prepared in trans fat fill margarine! The only item I could find that lacked trans fat and high fructose corn syrup is the tiny side salad they have there. Is there anything healthy?
Answer: NOPE!!!! Even the salads are LOADED with sodium.......sucks :(

Answer: sounds like you have some homework to do on mcdonalds... i definitly suggest you watch super size me. and people still go there because its convenient even tho everything on the menu is loaded with calories.
Question: Do YOU think Fast food restaurants SHOULD have Nutrition Labels? In some recent studies, some people complain that they are gaining weight from going to places like McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, etc...well duh! Don't eat fast food! However they think that there should be labels with nutrition information on each product. What do you think about this?
Answer: I think there should be labels.
This will also help for people with food allergies or sensitivities. For instance, my niece is highly allergic to peanuts and eggs. It would save my sister a lot of time asking people what products do not contain these allergens if there were labels on the products.
Also, it is easier to make healthy choices when you actually know what each selection contains.
Question: should mcdonalds and other fa(s)t food companies be restricted in marketing- kids susceptible to advertising.? http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070806/hl_nm/kids_fastfood_dc
these A holes have been misleading the public for years- yes, fat is fat and fast food is fatty everyone knows, but mcdonalds among many others have and continue to routinely thwart efforts to disclose nutrition information and are part of the group that refused to disclose the existance of, much less the harmfull effects of trans fat since the 1950's.
should they be restricted in advertising?
what about causing them to post warnings on the packages like the "surgeon general's" cigarette warning.
also keep in mind we do the same thing for cigarettes and kids are more likely to be swayed by food, than ciagarettes.
also like cigarettes, they actively took steps to mislead the public about the dangers involved in these foods and the substances they put in them.
Yes, they have taken steps recently to change but not good enough.
unlike tv or videogame violence, the parents have no control over when a network plays a commercial. a parent can forbid or block a network tv show, but they cannot block a specific commercial that comes on during an approved program.
I would say that they have done enough when they place the surgeon general's warning equivalent (a skull and crossbones) on each and every package of food with a big label saying this food is hazardous to your health, AND make every customer sign a waiver.
Fact is, why do you find 5 mcdonald's in poor area
as opposed to less in more affluent areas?
they have caused the damage, let them pay to repair it.
Answer: yes, i do believe that they should be restricted in thier marketing.
I saw an article in Yahoo today in which kids think that foods wrapped in McDonalds taste better!
the whole marketing agenda made on kids has gone out of control, that the obseity problem is a direct reaction to this.
marketing to adults is one thing, but exploiting impressionable kids is another.
Question: Why are all restaurants suddenly including nutrition info? I remember when McDonalds started doing this, it was like huge news. Now almost every major fast food chain has a list of the nutrition facts for all of their items.
Is this a trend that McDonalds thought up, and everyone followed? Or was this the result of some kind of 'freedom of nutrition information' law or something?
I agree it's here to stay, but people have cared about their health for decades. Then all of a sudden McDonalds adds nutrition info, and within a year or two EVERYONE else does it.
That's why I'm wondering, did other chains just feel the pressure? Like people said "McDonalds is doing it why not you"? Or was there a law or something else big that happened to make all of these place suddenly change?
I mean, restaurants don't act based on what is best for their customers, they do it based on what is best for business. A fast food place that makes it known that none of its dollar menu items have less than 60 g of fat is not exactly helping its bottom line. If you're going to sell garbage, then at least don't TELL people that it's garbage. That's like, day one marketing.
Answer: Well its a bit of everyone answer
1. FDA requires all chain restaurants to have nutritional information available. So it on the web on packaging,
2. Some states require the information on the menus. Though not everywhere it is being done slowly
3. After McD got sued for people being fat. The law suit said that the nutritional information was not prominently being displayed . So mcD put it out to be seen and others have followed suit.
I worked at a McD15 years ago and they had the information available back then you just had to ask an employee about it.
Question: McDonalds has this New Burger called the Angus Burger What is "Angus" ? The manager didn't know, The employees didn't know so I called McDonalds toll free nutrional hotline & they didn't know, She said its 100% beef I said I understand that but what is a Angus then she got upset with my question & said Sir I'm just reading what it says here. However while we was eating I noticed the place mat showed nutrition information on it & under Beef the "Angus Burger" Did not exsist!!! P.S. Point being now I have already searched the internet for the best answer but I just wanted to see if I was the only one on the planet that didn't know what "ANGUS" was. I see you didn't either... Sir Richard
Answer: Angus is a breed of cow.
Question: Calories in McDonald's? So I was looking at some nutrition information online for McDonalds and it showed the calories per serving size.
Are the sizes we're served different from the amount of calories listed?
For example, If I want to eat 500 calories today and I order a McRib, is the actual size of the McRib I'm served 500 calories or does McDonald's give me two servings and make me think it's one?
I know it's kind of a confusing question, sorry.
Answer: I work at mcdonalds ... :( not good but yeah its money.
That will be for one serving trust me you will get just one serving i get told off for putting to many chips in the pack. They will charge you double for 2 servings.
Question: I need calorie info on Mcdonald's Texas Homestyle burger.? it was not listed on mcdonald's site in their nutrition information, i guess because it is a regional item, however I am counting calories and I just had one so any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Best answer goes to the first right answer!!!
I am not trying to lose weight I am keeping tabs on my calories for a class I am taking.
Answer: This burger is pretty much a quarter pounder with spicy mustard.
A regular quarter pounder is 410 calories.
A quarter pounder with cheese is 510 calories.
A tablespoon of brown mustard has about 15 or so calories in it.
So, with cheese it would be about 525 and without 425.
Question: FDA ruling? At McDonalds, or any restrauant for that matter, do they have to provide you with the nutrition information for everything they offer?

Question: Does McDonald's Southern Style Chicken Sandwich contain MSG? McDonald's apparently doesn't know what is in their own food.
Below is response offered from mcdonalds.com
"Because non-core products, such as the Southern Style Chicken Sandwich, are subject to change, the nutrition analysis and ingredient information is not available in our restaurants or on our website."
McDonald's does carry items that contain MSG (monosodium glutamate)
Chicken Selects® Premium Breast Strip:
Chicken breast strips, water, seasoning [salt, monosodium glutamate, carrageenan gum, chicken broth, natural flavor (plant and animal source), maltodextrin, spice, autolyzed yeast extract, chicken fat, polysorbate 80], modified potato starch, and sodium phosphates. Breaded with: wheat flour, water, food starch-modified, salt, spices, leavening (baking soda, sodium aluminum phosphate, monocalcium phosphate), garlic powder, onion powder, dextrose, spice extractives and extractives of paprika. Prepared in vegetable oil ((may contain one of the following: Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, partially hydrogenated corn oil with TBHQ and citric acid added to preserve freshness), dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent). CONTAINS: WHEAT
Sausage Patty: Pork, whey protein concentrate, water, salt, corn syrup solids, sugar, spices, dextrose, monosodium glutamate, spice extractives, caramel color, BHA and BHT and propyl gallate and citric acid (preservatives). CONTAINS: MILK. Liquid Margarine: Liquid soybean oil, water, partially hydrogenated cottonseed and soybean oils, salt, hydrogenated cottonseed oil, soy lecithin, mono and diglycerides, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate (preservative), artificial flavor, citric acid, vitamin A palmitate, beta carotene (color). CONTAINS: SOY LECITHIN
I should say "Does it contain added MSG?". I know MSG occurs naturally in foods but so does cyanide. MSG as a seasoning is synthesized in a lab and concentrated when used as an ingredient. It's no longer natural at that point.
Answer: my dad is the great southern region's director of operations mickey d's does contain msg
Question: How well do you understand Calories? You will need good math skills and know what makes up calories.
1) Lets say you go out for dinner. You have two 8 ounce cans of beer with 5% Alcohol You order some food with 35 grams of fat, 76 grams of carbs, and 25 grams of protien. How many calories did you just take in. (Round answer to the nearest tenth)
2) Please order these from highest to lowest calorie per gram count.
---Carbohydrates
---Fat
---Alcohol
---Protein
3) Lets say you go to McDonalds for dinner. You get a Cheeseburger, Fries, and a drink (not diet). That would be about 42 Grams of fat, 143 Grams of Carbohydrates, 21 Grams of Protien. How many Calories is that? (You will be shocked)
Information source: http://www.mcdonalds.com/app_controller.nutrition.index1.html
Facts:
+50 - 60% of Calories Should come from Carbohydrates
+10-20% of Calories should come from Protien
+30% Should come from fat, but only 10% from saturated fat.
Your diet should only consist of 2,000-2,500 Calories
To help you with number 1, an 8 ounce beer(5% alcohol) is about 11.34 grams of alcohol.
Answer: 1) 877.8 Calories
*158.76 from Alcohol *315 from fat *304 from Carbs *100 from protien

Question: Does drinking water help breast growth? I'm 14, so i'm going through puberty. and does drinking water aid in breast growth? but doesnt water help you lose weight? or does eating unhealthy like mcdonalds or something help breast grow, because all of the fats that go into your body? [since breasts are mostly fat, i think] what nutrition aids in breast growth? BESIDES PILLS. and i know im 14, and my breasts are gonna get larger, but i want them to grow faster if thats possible by consuming the right nutrition.
p.s. please try to answer all of my questions :] not just the main headline.... 10 points best answer! and please give as much information as possible :]
oh and by the way, im not fat. im skinny. and im short like 5 foot. i weigh about 87 pounds.
Answer: Nothing but puberty and gaining weight will make your breasts grow. There is no way to single out your breasts to make them bigger from what you eat--if you're not genetically geared to carry a lot of fat in your breasts, then you could eat nothing but cupcakes and lard and still not budge a cup size. It's far, far more dependent on your genetics and body than on what you eat. You can't just magically enlarge your breasts, no matter what you eat.
Question: How soon will US women become extinct and infertile from eating Standard American Diet (SAD) ? ? Western lifestyle takes its toll today. Many US career women choose to work overtime to get the things they see in commercials, but fail to take care of their kids, preferring to leave their children with a heroin addict babysitter. There is no good babysitter other then biological mother. Western women are overprotective of their kids, make them sit home and watch TV with a stream of commercials. Corporations thanks you for that, Mom, to raise great generation of consumers. I'm from former USSR and not much proud of my country, but has absolutely nothing good to say about America, only about particular individuals. I recently started seen American-born women and only 1 our of each 10 women knows about diet, immune to commercials and carries great human values. Considering the experience I get, it is worth putting up and take time to test women before finding the right one to keep around. I have this strong intuitive sense that only 10% of American women are healthy, alive and think McDonalds and drinking are bad. I've never heard anything great said about US women, not in a romantic way, nor in intellectual way, nor in any other then ...porn star achievements. What makes US women so undesirable then other nationalities ? What does it tell you when almost all US women are overweight and never take responsibility for their health ? This message is for you big girls. The information is there. Everything is ready and available. Eat fresh veggies, exercise and avoid commercial food products with food additives. Search youtube "Nutrition with Natalie". I believe she is and Ultimate example of what American woman should be. Bring your best excuses to the table big girls !
Answer: I agree with the post above. Times are changing and evolving here in the western world. Such is the natural course. Apparently you have not heard anything intellectual about American woman, but you think the woman living in your third world country are so much brighter being baby machines and letting their husbands make all the rules to how they live their lives? You sound like an idiot and your views are not appreciated here so good luck finding a woman.
