Question: The measures of two angles in a supplementary triangle are in the ratio of 1:11. What is the measure of the la? I have no clue how to calculate that. If anyone can help me with that feel free to do so.
The measures of two angles in a supplementary triangle are in the ratio of 1:11. What is the measure of the larger angle?
Answer: 165
Question: Find the measure of the complement to angle A, whose angle measures 54 degrees? Find the measure of the complement to angle A, whose angle measures 54 degrees.
How many degrees are there in the central angles on the interior of a circle?
Angle RST measures 45 degrees. Ray SU bisects the angle and each of the bisected angles measures how many degrees?
Help please?
Answer: 1. 90-54 = 46, complementary angles must sum 90.
2. They sum 360 degrees all together
3. Since thye ray bisects the angle it divides the angle in two identical halves, so their measure is 22.5 degrees each.
Hope it helped,

Question: What measures of social control to prevent terrorism do you believe are acceptable in a democratic society? What measures of social control to prevent terrorism do you believe are acceptable in a democratic society?
Answer: After having seen what the "Measures of Social Control" the Bush administration instituted I think that we need to take about 10 steps back from the brink. We are closer to having a military Coup than at any time since Nixon resigned. And the laws necessary to legitimize a takeover are already on the books; the patriot act, the military powers act, and the revised FISA.
And try flying now a days with the "Security Measures" do you really know what the list is all about? Especially since no one outside of the security forces is allowed to actually see the list. I personally find it funny that people I knew were criminals had no problems flying but those who had no record of violence but were known to be against the Bush administration(a college professor) were on the list and could not fly.
I fly about twice a year and have watched others being singled out and removed from the airport, and when an old friend of mine was singled out I started to do some checking on my own. What I found was that the list has become a political weapon that the Republicans used often and with good effect. I worry that Obama will take advantage of what the Republicans left in place or much more likely is some kind of rightwing takeover attempt in Washington.
I can not accept the measures already in place. So I would not accept any further measures. As a country the Constitution guarantees our "Rights" nowhere in the documents founding our country do they guarantee our security and they explain why. Because to guarantee security is to abridge freedom!
Question: What measures has the current US government taken to deal with the financial crisis? I'm writing an essay about Noam Chomsky's prediction in 2003 that the financial downturn may not be met with any long term strategies to fix the problem, but I'd like to be able to debate the point fairly.
The question again; what measures has the current US government taken to deal with the financial crisis?
Answer: Give out all kinds of money
.
And I mean the big numbers too
.
Question: What measures could be taken to reduce the impact of desertification in the Sahel? What measures could be taken to reduce the impact of desertification in the Sahel?
Answer: 1)Control the population there, does not let it grow
2) Plan the land wisely - e.g. do not remove the original vegetation cover. Semi-arid areas should not be developed into farmland or grazing land.
3) Afforestation - Planting trees
4) Develop other sources of power

Question: What are some preventative measures people can take in Lisbon, Portugal since the earthquake? What are some preventative measures people can take/taken in Lisbon, Portugal since the earthquake of 1755?
Answer: Those measures were taken in the years following 1755, the reconstruction of Lisbon by the Marquis of Pombal and a crew of architects and engineers pioneered the "bird-cage" construction, every house of downtown Lisbon, mostly rebuilt from 1755 to 1780, has this type of walls, ceiling and floor. The secret was long hard wood beams criss crossed inside the walls, ceiling and floor.
Plus the buildings, whose foundations stand on wet sands frequently soaked by the rise of the tide from the river Tagus, are all standing on thousands of beams of green pine.
This type of construction was the first in the world to be really "earthquake proof".
Nowadays other techniques are used and it's mandatory for all buildings to have preventive construction. The "bird-cage" construction technique developed by the portuguese is still used worldwide, although with other materials besides wood.
Question: What measures for disease prevention that were used historically should be used today? What measures for disease prevention that were used historically should be used today? Why do you think some were discarded as preventive measures?
Answer: i think the quarantining of a person with any disease should be necessary and then they should have to wear an identify-er if it is contagious. this would stop the spread of HIV, and many other pathogens.
Question: What were the main safety measures of older cars 1900s etc? I am doing a science coursework comparing safety measures of older and newer cars, i need some names of main safety features, any links to websites would be really useful!
Answer: Way back then, brakes sometimes were optional, something I would call a safety measure. Since automobiles where a brand new invention, there were no laws regarding them and the price was keep down by not adding anything to them. Remember the crank start system on them? How many people hurt themselves just trying to start the poor thing. The real safety measures started to appear in the teens and twenty's and again, we would look at them as standard equipment, not safety, like electric starters, bumpers, descent brakes, windshields, etc.
Question: Is there an spectrophotometer that measures optical density, pH and tempreture for a 96 well plate? Can anyone tell me if the Molecular Devices Spectra Max M2 instrument will measure pH in a 96 well plate? I know it measures absorbance (optical density) and is temperature controlled, but does it measure temperature and pH in individual wells? Is there any other instrument that does this?
Answer: The Molecular Devices Spectra Max M2 will not measure pH in a 96 well plate and does not measure temperature in each individual well, just the plate itself. However, if you want to measure pH in each well you can still use the plate reader. Add BCECF-AM (its available at Sigma) to each well and measure with an excitation of 485 nm and emission 538 nm. You will also need to make a standard curve of known pH in order to determine what OD corresponds to the pH.
Question: What are some security and safety measures that need to be considered when planning buildings? What are some security and safety measures that need to be considered when planning buildings? The only reason i need to know this is for my homework. I would be very pleased if I get an answer which is around one paragraph. Thanks
Answer: Hi,
Consistent with areas of professional responsibility, it is useful to identify four fundamental principles of multi-hazard building design:
1. Plan for Fire Protection - Planning for fire protection for a building involves a systems approach that enables the designer to analyze all of the building's components as a total building fire safety system package.
2. Ensure Occupant Safety and Health - Some injuries and illnesses are related to unsafe or unhealthy building design and operation. These can usually be prevented by measures that take into account issues such as indoor air quality, electrical safety, fall protection, ergonomics, and accident prevention.
3. Resist Natural Hazards - Each year U.S. taxpayers pay over $35 billion for recovery efforts, including repairing damaged buildings and infrastructure, from the impacts of hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornados, blizzards, and other natural disasters. A significant percentage of this could be saved if our buildings properly anticipated the risk associated with major natural hazards.
4. Provide Security for Building Occupants and Assets - Effective secure building design involves implementing countermeasures to deter, detect, delay, and respond to attacks from human aggressors. It also provides for mitigating measures to limit hazards and prevent catastrophic damage should an attack occur.
The above information must be considered together with other design objectives and within a total project context in order to achieve quality, high performance buildings.
Question: How do you convert between different measures of rainfall? In the UK weather forecasts might say we've had 3 inches of rain in a single day. In Europe they would say that they've had, say, 13 litres of rain over a square metre - 13 l/m2. How can I convert between the two different measures?
Answer: Andrew, I have never heard anyone noting the rainfall in liters per square meter. It doesn't make sense. Everywhere, the rainfall is measured as the depth of a receptor per unit of time and then, its size doesn't matter. Three inches would then be 75 mm in 24 hours. As a reference, the average rainfall on earth per year is roughly one meter. A moderate rain would be about 1 mm per hour or 24 mm per day.
If you really have a measure in liters per square meter then a liter is a cubic deciliter or a square meter times one millimeter. 13 liters of rain over a square meter per day is then 13 mm per day and it is a slight rain, if it rains for 24 hours. If it rains for 12 hours, it would be an average rainfall and if it rains for only 6 hours during that period of 24 hours, it would be heavy rain.
Question: Who were the demagogues of the 1930s? What were some new deal measures resulting from the demogogues? In my history class we discussed essays which rely on knowledge of multiple events or things...
my teacher gave us an essay topic to write about which relies on knowledge of various things...
"How did the 'demagogues' of the 1930s cause FDR to initiate further New Deal measures?"
I know of a couple demagogues but i don't know how they caused new deal measures to be initiated... what are new deal measures?
how did the acts of the demagogues cause FDR to make those decisions?
Answer: Sen. Huey Long of Louisiana was one. He was a "populist", basing his power on servicing the people of Louisiana during the depression. He was a great speechmaker, and used his powers to enforce demands for more and more aid. As Governor (1928-32) he put a special tax on oil to fund his social programs, which made Business think of him as a Revolutionary.
Best remembered for his ‘Share Our Wealth’ platform, which swept the nation during the Great Depression, Huey Long was demonized by the powerful as a dangerous revolutionary, yet revered by the masses as a champion of the common man.
In a land of plenty, Huey Long believed that no American should be without an education, a home, an automobile, and a job that paid a decent living wage.
Question: How to find the angle measures given all side measures of a triangle? Given a triangle with sides measuring 15in, 10in, and 12in; with angle C across from 10in, angle A across from 12in, and angle T across from 15in. Find the angle measures.
My finals are coming up please help me!
Thank You
Answer: When you are faced with a problem when you know all 3 sides but no angles, use the Law of Cosines.
a^2 = b^2 + c^2 - 2bc*Cos(A)
b^2 = a^2 + c^2 - 2ac*Cos(B)
c^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 2ab*Cos(C)
Where the lower-case letters are the 3 sides and the upper-case letters are the angles that are opposite to the sides of the same letter.
From the given information, we can derive that c = 10, a = 12, and b = 15. Let's start by figuring out angle A.
a^2 = b^2 + c^2 - 2bc*Cos(A)
==> 144 = 12^2 + 10^2 - 2(15)(10)*Cos(A)
==> 144 = 225 + 100 - 300*Cos(A)
==> 144 = 325 - 300*Cos(A)
==> -181 = -300*Cos(A)
==> -181/-300 = Cos(A)
==> Cos^-1(181/300) = A
==> A ≈ 52.89°
Time to figure out angle B (I'll call it T at the end).
b^2 = a^2 + c^2 - 2ac*Cos(B)
==> 15^2 = 12^2 + 10^2 - 2(12)(10)*Cos(B)
==> 225 = 144 + 100 - 240*Cos(B)
==> 225 = 244 - 240*Cos(B)
==> -19 = -240*Cos(B)
==> -19/-240 = Cos(B)
==> Cos^-1(19/240) = B
==> B ≈ 85.46°
And now..angle C.
c^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 2ab*Cos(C)
==> 10^2 = 12^2 + 15^2 - 2(12)(15)*Cos(C)
==> 100 = 225 + 144 - 360*Cos(C)
==> 100 = 369 - 360*Cos(C)
==> -269 = -360*Cos(C)
==> -269/-360 = Cos(C)
==> Cos^-1(269/360) = C
==> C ≈ 41.65°
Therefore, the angles are A ≈ 52.89°, T ≈ 85.46°, and C ≈ 41.65°.
Hope this helps.
