Mercury
Question: mercury..? how many hours does it take for mercury to make one rotation?
Answer: 59 days to revolve around itself. (That's 10km/h, not fast!)
87 days to rotate around the Sun.
Question: What replaced the mercury in vaccines that contained it? I was talking to someone about vaccines earlier and we got on the subject of mercury. From what I've heard the vaccines that contain mercury have either been replaced with mercury free ones or are in the process of removing the mercury.
So what replaced it? I doubt they just removed it b/c there would have to be a reason it was there in the first place and would need to be replaced with something equally as strong.
Thank you for that link, it will take some time to read all of it but it seems to have great information in it.
Answer: I don't think they replaced it with anything. I think they changed from multi-dose vials, which require preservatives, to single-dose vials.
Some vaccines require thimerosal during production, and they remove as much as they can at the end.
Many flu vaccines still contain the full 25mcg of mercury!
They are:
Afluria multi-dose
FluLaval
Fluvirin
Fluzone 5 mL vial

Question: What is the difference between mercury in aquarius/mercury in taurus and mercury in scorpio? I am the aquarius mercury and I have trouble at times communicating with my mercury in taurus boyfriend. I love to chat and discuss and write long emails, but he is very much of the one word kind of guy. This new guy I like has mercury in scorpio and he is a much better communicator.
Answer: A mercury in Aquarius would like to communicate [ all air signs love to dialogue ] ; but a mercury in Taurus [ my husband has a mercury in Taurus ] ; no ; they are keeping their emotions for themselves ; even if hurt like [ hell ] they will not talk about it ; a mercury in Scorpio will discuss or communicate ; but there things they will never share with nobody
Question: What kind of mercury compound is found in batteries containing mercury? What is the mercury compound used in batteries (eg AA, AAA, etc.) containing mercury (1 ppm)?
What about batteries that have a chemical system NOT containing mercury (such as Zn/MnO2) but are labeled as "low mercury" and having a mercury content of 1 ppm?
Answer: If the battery only contains 1ppm mercury, no mercury has been added to the battery. Instead, it's just occurring as an impurity in the components of the battery - the zinc anode, the manganese dioxide anode, the potassium hydroxide electrolyte, etc. Mercury occurs in trace amounts in most metal ore deposits, and potassium hydroxide is sometimes manufactured using a mercury electrode; either could be sources of the trace of Hg present. It could also be that the equipment used to detect Hg has a 1ppm limit of detection, so if no Hg was detected, the battery would be labeled "<1ppm Hg"
There are some types of batteries where mercury has been added intentionally. In mercuric oxide batteries, HgO serves as the cathode (oxidizing agent), with zinc as the anode (reducing agent). When the battery is used, the HgO gets reduced to metallic mercury.
Old alkaline and carbon-zinc batteries would sometimes also contain mercury - with these, metallic mercury was added to the zinc to form an amalgam (liquid alloy with mercury). Amalgamating the zinc removes the layer of zinc oxide from its surface, allowing it to react more easily in the battery, and also controls unwanted side reactions.
Question: How does Mercury square Mercury in synastry manifest in online communications? What would you expect to see between two people who have their Mercury square to the other, online.
Answer: Well, I hate to go with the 'depends' thing again, but it really does depend on the signs involved. Think about the difference between a Sag mercury square a Pisces mercury vs a Taurus mercury square a Leo mercury. However, without those defining details, I would say that there would be obvious conflict manifested in either aggressive words towards each other, avoidance, misunderstandings and even unrelenting efforts to make the other person "get it."
Question: What can I do with mercury that spilled out of a broken thermometer? I have mercury from an old thermometer of glass and it broke spilling out the mercury into a dish. I have kept it there. How can I dispose of this mercury properly and safely?
Answer: You may do best by calling the NON-EMERGENCY line at your fire department and asking advice from the haz-mat person there. Do not wash it down the drain and do not allow children near the spill.
Question: Why is Capricorn Mercury so structured in some people and so scattered in others? Why is Capricorn Mercury so structured in some people and so scattered in others?
In most people Capricorn Mercury will be very step by step, structured and coherent. Occassionally, it will come across as scattered and incoherent. What other placements are affecting it in this manner? What other things might be affecting it in the second case?
Answer: of course there are other placements which can affect this...the Sun being an example..
for a Capricorn Mercury, the Sun is either in Saggitarius, Capricorn or Aquarius....and each of these can either inhibit or exhibit the qualities of the Mercurian influence...for example, a Saggitarian Sun might cause a more immature outlook and action even though the thought processes are structured, which makes them less uptight than a Capricorn Sun....so it's not that they arent coherent, it's just that you dont see them that way...
Mars can also have an effect...for example an Arian Mars brings about rashness and rage, which can cloud the structured thoughts...so although they might mentally work out a complicated issue in their heads, they perform it by instinct and then get irritated with themselves afterwards...because they cant be bothered to go through the pros and cons of something before diving into it...even though they are capable of it....
another thing which might affect it...is that..Mercury was in retrograde motion at the time of birth..so that sort of restricts the expression of the Mercurian qualities in an obvious manner...
Question: What liquid replaces mercury in the new carburetor synchronization tools? We used mercury to read carburetor vacuum in the old gauges. Now, sellers are saying that they use a new safe replacement for mercury. What is it?
Answer: Actually, the newest ones are digital, and hook to the battery of the bike, or plug in a wall with a 12v adapter.
What you are referring to is Manometer fluid. Its basically an environmentally safe liquid, to replace mercury (but personally I think the mercury ones work way better because the blue oil stains the tubes after awhile.)
(from the Motion Pro Sync FAQ's in the instruction manual):
SyncPRO™ Fluid contains propylene glycol
and is not “toxic” as defined by the
regulations of the Consumer Product Safety
Commission at 16 CFR 1550.3 (c) (2), it is
not for human consumption. KEEP OUT OF
THE REACH OF CHILDREN. DO NOT store
in opened or unlabeled containers. Contact
Motion Pro for a copy of the MSDS.
Propylene Glycol is the same ingredient as antifreeze...environmentally safe? I'll let you decide.
Question: Is the amount of mercury in a thermometer enough to create an inhalation hazard during cleanup? If the mercury is cleaned up properly and not agitated, will it vaporize quickly enough to create a health hazard in a large room? Additionally, how quickly does mercury vaporize?
Answer: "Although the boiling point of mercury is 357 Degrees C, detectable
mercury vapor forms at temperatures as low as
8.5 Degrees C. Depending upon the surface area of mercury
exposed and conditions of ventilation, air concentrations
of mercury can reach 3 mg per cubic meter at room
temperatureR-@ and 213 mg per cubic meter at
200'C.1° The mercury vapor level fatal to man is not
known, but concentrations of 15 to 20 mg Hg per cubic
meter of air are lethal for dogs."
Question: How can I minimize the effects of Mercury during pregnancy? I (actually my wife) had urine analysis done a couple months ago and she shows high levels of Mercury and Lead (7.4 ug/gm and 4.88 ug/gm creatinine, respectively). Were not sure why or how, but now we've discovered that were 5 weeks pregnant. We are wondering if there is anything we can do to reduce the effects of the Mercury and Lead. I guess the more appropriate question is "How do we minimize the effects of high Mercury and Lead levels on pregnancy?"
Thank you!
Answer: i think its best if she were to do a pregnancy safe detox and then aciod certain sea food which has a high content of mercury you can google the exact ones but i checked it out and they say the higher up on the food chain the higher the mercury content so its best to eat things like hake and no shelfish, good luck
Question: How does Mercury achieve counter rotation on outboard motors? A friend recently purchased a used Mercury outboard lower unit for a 115 HP motor. Turns out it is counter rotating. How difficult will it be to make it rotate normally?
Answer: You can make it rotate the other way by reversing you cables
in the control box,but I do not recommend this because a counter rotating drive is made to handle the load on the gear-case at higher speeds.I would recommend just buying a counter rotating prop. This will solve your problem and it will run just fine.
Question: What is the connection between the planet Mercury and the element Mercury? I know that the element Mercury is definitely not comprised of the planet Mercury, so what is the connection? I am thinking it has something to do with the zodiac, but I really am not sure.
Answer: They are both named after the Roman god. The planet for the same reason other planets were named after gods, and the element because the god Mercury was known for speed and mobility, and the element is also called quicksilver.
Oh and by the way, Mercury was a Roman god, not a Greek god.
Question: How does Mercury affect the human tissue? In other words, how does it interact with molecules in our body that make it so deadly?
I know the symptoms and sources of mercury poisoning but I don't understand how it works on the molecular level. If anyone could tell me, that would be great.
Answer: lol jin, stop cheating on the env med hw...and yahoo answers is my way! >.<
Organic mercury is highly lipophilic (high affinity affinity for fat tissues). Exposure occurs primarily via consumption of contaminated fish, however dermal exposure is not uncommon in laboratory settings and MeHg recently caused the death of Karen Wetterhahn, a Dartmouth University researcher exposed to a single drop of MeHg that passed through her protective latex glove. Both MeHg and Hg° cross the placental and blood-brain barrier where they can be oxidized (via the peroxidase-catalase pathway, which is present in most tissues), trapped and accumulated in these tissues.
Question: How about the discontinuation of the Mercury and the Oil Spill? So Ford Motors announced the discontinuation of the Mercury, and of course we all know about this big oil spill. My question is about the inverse of those issues.
What do you think about the discontinuation of oil, and the mercury spill?
"Never let a crisis go to waste" is the watchword of this administration - which, as a result of this spill, is already talking about a new energy plan that will further restrict drilling, increase the cost of gas, natural gas, electricity and energy in general, ultimately crippling domestic oil production in the US.
Meanwhile, they have already made conventional incandescent lightbulbs illegal, forcing us to buy those squiggly little fluorescent jobs that are full of Mercury, that if not disposed of properly, will leach Mercury into the environment, the landfills, and ultimately the oceans.
So -
What do you think of the discontinuation of oil, and the potential mercury spills?
Answer: Obama and his admin should be arrested. This indicates that this was a Planned incident, I suspect so they could all get rich on cap and trade:

Question: What are all of the negative effects of Mercury, what are the ways Mercury can be introduced into your system? I hear of mercury poisoning, what are the effects of it? How can Mercury enter ones body unknowingly?
Answer: Absorption of mercury vapor by the lungs while working in a contaminated environment poses the greatest risk. Also, ingestion(like bad tuna) or skin exposure.
:)
Question: How long would it take for mercury to evaporate completely from contaminated clothing? Some months ago, I broke a thermometer. I probably should have disposed of the clothes I was wearing at the time, but I did not see any mercury on them and opted to just put them in the garage for a while. I would like to reclaim them when it is absolutely safe to wear them again, but I want to be VERY conservative as I have a young child and also may be pregnant. When can I be certain that ALL of the mercury, if there was any, has evaporated?
Answer: The mercury cannot be removed, cannot be washed out and will not in your lifetime ever evaporate completely. Overnight immersion into a bed of sulphur or powdered zinc is the only practicable method of removal.
C.O.S.H.H. regulations in the UK require that contaminated clothing be discarded.
If you are pregnant, there is no discussion.
Why would you even risk it?
Please! discard the items.
