Multi Vitamin Supplement
Question: What is the difference between a nutritional, herbal, and multi-vitamin supplement>? Are they under different sub category under supplements? I thought they all contain the same ingredient like if vitamin-c is the supplement then would it be considered a vitamin and an herbal supplement since it is a plant and needed nutrient for ur body. Thanks
Answer: Herbs and supplements are two different things. Your comparing apples and oranges. Herbs are plants that grow in the ground. These plants are taking from the ground, hung upside down and dried. the leaves, stems and roots are used to heal dis-eases. Supplements are used to fill in the gaps in our nutrient intake. Supplements are manufactured from synthetic and natural ingredients. Do some more reading. Your curious. I congratulate you on your query.
Question: Any advice for a great multi vitamin/mineral supplement for horses? I am looking for a good multi supplement for my young mare (3).. Any suggestions? I am not very familiar with supplements and do not have a lot of knowledge with the many kinds. Thanks!
Answer: The best source of vitamins and minerals is a good balanced diet. Supplements are not FDA regulated and often don't contain what is claimed, or worse, may contain harmful contaminants. Often supplements contain the wrong balance of vitamins and minerals, or some are in forms that are not able to be utilized by the body. Some vitamins and minerals are toxic in excess, and shouldn't be given arbitrarily without evidence of a deficiency.
A diet of good quality hay and a good balanced low glycemic index pelleted feed is best. I prefer Purina feeds for quality. I don't feed cereal grains since they are too high in soluble carbohydrates, like feeding the horse candy. Complete feeds like equine senior blends are good for any adult horse, along with plenty of good grass hay. I provide both a salt block and a separate trace mineral block, so the horses can choose. Horses need more salt than any other minerals, so it's good to have separate sources to choose from. If your area is known to have nutrient deficiencies or overages in the soil, your local farm bureau or ag extention office will be able to advise you about it. Your vet is also a good resource for information on this. If your horse is found to actually be deficient in anything, your vet can prescribe the right treatment.
Horse owners are notorious for oversupplementing. Often it is a waste of money that does no good for the horses, and in some cases may even do harm.
Question: What is a good protein powder that doubles as a multi-vitamin supplement? *1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm
Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Question: ANyone know a good all natural multi-vitamin supplement for toddlers? My 2 yr old is extremely picky and doesn't eat as well as he should.
Answer: If you have a Whole Foods store (or any natural/organic store) by you - go there and ask. I know my Whole Foods has a HUGE variety of children's vitamins. And everything in Whole Foods has no artificial flavors or sweeteners (I think). There's also liquid vitamins in addition to chewables/gummies.

Question: What multi-vitamin supplement is suggested since I'm a diabetic? I know I can't neccessarily take the same vitamins as everyone else, since I have a medical conditon and I don't want it to interact with the metformin I'm taking.
Answer: Here's a fairly complete list of things that will help you gain the knowledge you want:
For type I and type II diabetics (and those who are overweight and could potentially become diabetic). Copy and bookmark the webpages I‘ve listed below… they are invaluable for those with diabetes and/or weight problems...
I've found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I'm a type II (inherited), but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It's by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. It's called, "The Diabetes Improvement Program". I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it's the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don't have a close relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be 'effectively' cured. Read more about it here:
http://www.diabetesimprovement.com/
The book explains what's going on in our system and what to do about it. It's really easy and inexpensive. It's basically diet, supplements and exercise. For example, did you know that cinnamon helps blood sugar absorption? It also controls cholesterol and triglycerides. This is according to the USDA:
http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/np/fnrb/fnrb0104.htm#pinch
For men: Are you suffering from erectile dysfunction? I was. Yes, WAS. Now that everything's under control, I'm able to have nearly normal sex again. I've also put together a little webpage highlighting some of the things I've learned here:

Question: What, in your opinion, is the best multi-vitamin supplement out there? (accessible, bio-available, digestible, not too expensive) (for male in 20's)
Answer: my doctor recommonded CENTRUM
i was buying those expensive vitamins and was taking about 2-3 different ones (according to the Pharmacist it would work better). however, i started to be concerned about my liver since im taking all this vitamins i even took those small pills that go under your tongue. anyway i asked my doctor and took all these vitamins to his office..and he recommended centrum, and said those vitamin stores are there to make $$ and your only sapose to take one vitamin a day to avoid high liver enzymes and liver irritation in a future. hope i helped!
Question: Do your kids take a multi supplement vitamin? Do you think they help promote health?
I know a healthy diet is the best choice.
Answer: Yes they help, but there not as good as getting the vitamins from the proper foods.
Question: Is This The Number 1 Multi-Vitamin Supplement Available? Hi,
Im looking for a good Multi-Vitamin Supplement to take. I watched this review here http://blog.healthy.co.nz/complete-multi-vitamin-review/ Is this right? Has anyone tried this? Is it the best?
Answer: vitamins are never as good as they claim to be. scientists really still don't fully understand the relationship between food and animals, and rightly so it's super complicated.
first of all, most vitamins come from the same hand full of companies, the only difference is the packaging and the price.
second, when a mineral or vitamin is removed from food or synthesized in a lab and then stuck in a pill, that doesn't mean your body can absorb it. there's more to absorbing, say, vitamin c then just getting the single vitamin. all the other nutrients in foods with vitamin c work together to help your body process them.
when you take vitamins without the other nutrients they need to process, your body has to get it from somewhere, so it uses what's inside you, creating deficiencies of other vitamins.
the best way to get your vitamins is to eat a good balanced diet and know what you're putting in your body.
if you feel like you really need a supplement, try nutrition response testing. they test your body to see what vitamins you're missing and then custom make you whole-food supplements with food grown on organic farms.
Question: Have you seen high potency multi vitamin supplement with small tablet? I have difficulty swallowing the big multi vitamin tablet. Is there anything smaller version, like 500mg or powder ones?
Have anyone had tablet stuck around the throat before?
Answer: The tableted forms of multivitamins are higher potency but usually very large. To get an easier to swallow version you will have to go with a capsulated product. Unfortunately you get lower dose because they can only fit so much into a capsule. You usually have to take 2. Capsules are however easier absorbed by the body which is a good thing. I don't know where you live but there are alot of brands at your local health food store. Brands vary from place to place. Good luck.
Question: in multi vitamin supplement pills, are the things that they have that do not have daily values established? safe?
like they have stuff like some different minerals and stuff
are they really actually safe to consume?
Answer: This is the way I look at it....God created my body,...He also created the food that is meant to go into my body and nourish me. I try to ask myself whether what I am putting in me is man made or done by the professional (God)...find out if the vitamin is synthetic or natural...a local herb shop can help you with this. Synthetic is man made and I would avoid it....I also question some of the gel that they use to dispense the oily vitamins, so I bite it, suck the oil out, then spit out the gel cap. Hope this help!
Question: What is the best Multi Vitamin/Mineral Supplement for men to take? My goal is just to help myself get all the stuff I need to help me while I'm working out.
Answer: Melaleuca's Vitality Pack...98% absorbed by the body. Centrum is only 4%...They have a patented manufacturing process that allows for such a high absorption rate.
They bond the vitamins with a molecule of fructose, tricking the body into thinking it's absorbing sugar, when, in fact, it's getting wonderful nutrients it needs.
Most vitamins, sad to say, go right thru your body whole and are flushed down the toilet.
I'm all for saving money on cheap stuff...but not supplements. Cheap, generic supplements are cheap for a reason...they pass right thru your system. Use one that you can feel working.
Question: does taking a multi-vitamin supplement have any risks? i know vitamins are good for you but im just curious if it has any riskksss
i take a dietary supplement of vitamins and minerals(all one pill)
and i take one every day..any risks?
lol tyy
Answer: The only real risks with taking a multivitamin from a good quality company would be overdosing on any given nutrient in it. It's easiest to overdose on the fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) and most of the minerals.
The reason I specified "from a good quality company" is because some companies (or people) make inferior products to make a quick buck and try to avoid jail time for it. It's really rare that anyone would do that with multivitamins (mainly because of the low profit), but that's the only other possible "risk".
Question: Can i take a complete vitamin D supplement tablet with a multi-vitamin supplement tablet ??
Answer: NICK JONAS HAS DIABETES!
