Question: Are there good ways besides fruit for adding flavor to plain natural whey protien powders? (no sugar) Does honey work well in a shaker? (My guess is it would be hard to blend) What about cinnimon or some natural dark cocao powder? Does vanilla or almond extract or coffee work well? Any feedback would be great.
Answer: heck ya!
pretty much anything that you can put in a drink you can put in a smoothie. things like cinnamon are not really made to dissolve well - too much surface tension - so like the other poster said; use a blender.
but instant coffee and all kinds of extracts work well in shakers. mint is awesome in chocolate! so is orange or almond. you could probably make it savory if you go for that - like if you added some herbs, tea flavors or veggies. V8 would work well too. also, you could buy flavored syrups and combine those with coffee flavors and get a killer morning drink!
also, check out buybulkwhey's youtube videos. lots of yummy recipies and suggestions. they have a pomegranite cheesecake smoothy that is amazing!
Question: Is all natural whey protein safe for a kid? I'm 11 and i really wanted to try a whey protein shake, plus i need a little bit of muscle and i heard protein helps..

Question: Difference between Optimum Nutrition's 100% gold whey standard and 100% gold natural whey? What is the difference between 100% gold whey standard whey protein and 100% gold whey standard natural?
Does one contain aspartame or any harmful artificial ingredients?
Is one safer than the other?
Answer: There is no difference between the two except that the regular gold standard has artificial flavoring, while the natural gold standard does not. However, none of them contain harmful artificial ingredients like aspartame. They are equally safe.
Because the natural whey doesn't have artificial flavoring, it is only limited to 3 flavors while the regular gold standard has almost 5 times the flavors, including some obscure ones (eggnog, apple cider?).
They both run at the same price, I use the regular gold standard myself because I want to try all the flavors. However if you are extremely paranoid about artificial flavoring I suppose you should buy the natural stuff to keep your sanity =]

Question: How should I take 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard Natural for weight loss and build muscle? I bought the 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard Natural but i don't now when and how much to take to loose weight and build muscle, i want to know how many scoops should i take and how many times a day i should take it, thank you!
Answer: Hey Bro,
The best time to take your protein is within 30 minutes of your workout. I make a smoothie and bring it with me, so I can have soon as I finish my routine. I'll add a link below for some good recipes.
If you want to loose weight and build muscle, push your cardio to keep metabolism up, and I'd would do reps in the 8-12 range. remember to mix up your program every 4-6 weeks to keep your muscles working.
The link below is where I get my protein, they have a forum page on their website with some good discussions on workouts, and some great smoothie recipies. Their choc is the best! Good luck.
Question: I bought natural Whey, is it the same? I went to a natural health store today, and found that they were selling whey powder for extremely cheap. This is alot cheaper than the whey I purchase from places like GNC and commercial stores like that.
Theres nothing on the bag except for the words " Whey Powder", so does it have the same effects as mainstream Whey powders, or not?
I'm asking if its the same as the mainstream commercial 'whey protein' that you see at GNC and stuff
Answer: Hi Sweetie,
Yes it is the same.
Love,
Mom

These guys sell the highest quality and best priced pure whey protein.
If you decide to avoid whey protein powder a good substitute in your smoothies can be cottage cheese. I have done this many times. Here are some good recipes for protein smoothies.

Question: What protein power should I use? 100% Whey Gold Standard or Natural Pro Complex? I have just began my weight training routine and am interested what other people consider to be a better supplement for someone in my position. I am either considering 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard from ON or Natural Pro Complex also from ON. The second choice does contain more "stuff" but is it simply overkill?
I am trying to gain weight and build muscle mass
Answer: Hi,
The 100% Whey Protein Gold contains whey protein, which is absorb fast and utilized fast by the body. The Pro-Complex is a blend of Whey, Wheat Protein, Egg, BCAAs, etc.. which has more of a timed release effect. Slower digesting proteins. The Pro-Complex cost more money, you could start with the 100% Whey and see how it goes.
Hope this helps!
Question: is all natural whey protein just as effective as regular? also is whey protein not recommended to someone who is 16 years old?
Answer: Whey protein is simply derived from dairy - the cheese manufacturing process - so if drinking milk is safe, so is drinking whey. I say go for it.
I'm not sure what your "all natural" whey protein is, but I assume that it has no artificial flavoring or splenda. The protein will be the same, but the flavoring system is different. To each his own on that one - some people are allergic or sensitive to artificial flavors, or are afraid of putting fake substances in their bodies. I personally don't care and eat whatever I get the best deal on.
However, it's not the amount of whey that's important - it's daily protein intake in general. Studies have shown that in order to gain lean muscle mass quickly, you need to eat 1g (or more) of protein per pound of bodyweight each and every day. You can use protein shakes at different points during the day, especially post-workout, to make this number. [see source 1 - there are also protein price comparisons on that link]
I personally like whey protein isolate[2], which has all of the lactose (milk sugars) filtered out. These give me less gas and have fewer crabs - it's basically pure protein. My favorite product is a new one from Muscle Gauge Nutrition[3]. Get em online for MUCH cheaper than at the stores.
But don't depend too much on shakes. You need to eat clean FOOD to grow - meat, fish, nuts, fruits, vegetables, etc. Protein shakes merely help get you over the daily hump and are great snacks and good for after-workout.

Answer: Go with the Gold Standard. Make sure to balance out protein supplements with fruits and vegetables while trying to gain healthy weight and bulk. Exercise at least every other day and always drink plenty of water!
Question: What is the difference between Whey Protein with natural flavors and Whey Protein without? I want to know how the body ingests the protein differently. I want to know how that affects the body. And I would also like to know what ingredients to watch out for.Thank you!
Answer: Great question! There are a variety of different whey products that are made in all TYPES of different ways. You first have to define a natural flavor, as there are all kinds of fillers additives, red this green#5 that..it can be pretty darn confusing. There are however some pure natural whey products that contain no additives or flavoring. I came across a video that kind of opened my eyes to the whole protein world, hope it helps you out.
