Nutrition Remedy
Question: Is there an "old school" home remedy, vitamin or treatment to prevent asthma in an aging cat? I have a 14-year-old cat who has started to show signs of asthma. She needs to lose weight (too many carbs in dry food, I want better pet nutrition labeling) so the vet recommend that avoid using steroids unless it becomes necessary. Money is tight, so short of homeopathic and other pharmaceuticals I might find on the Internet, I'm wondering if there are alternative approaches, tactics or remedies.
Answer: Get some unprocessed sea salt and add a little to her water. Use 1/8 tsp per each 16 oz of water (you'll need to figure the appropriate dosage according to how much water you give her).
Water and salt keeps the airways open. This is actually meant for people's use, but it works for pets, too.
Question: Is anyone out there managing an illness without medication successfully, using natural remedies, nutrition etc
Answer: I had severely high cholesteral and I refused to take the prescription meds my doctor wanted to give me. I researched which supplements to take, herbs, and nutrition. I retested in 1 1/2 months and my cholesteral reading was perfect! My doctor was amazed.
I also use bio-identical hormone cream for peri-menopause. It works wonderfully and I knew when the time came that I would never use conventional Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Another time I was getting severe hives for months and the doctors want to put you on steroids and antihistamines. No way! Again I did my research and I did a 30 day colonix and detox and never had hives again!
If you do your homework you can usually find something that works other than precscription meds. Now, on the other hand, there are times you do need prescription meds. I had strep throat and had to take antibiotics.
You just have to do what feels right for you and listen to your body.
Question: quick poll... medication OR natural remedies/nutrition/therapy? ? there seems to be a divide in society about whether drugs truly work or not, I've always been strongly against them, for many reasons, but have recently accepted some treatment, when other methods haven't worked, see I think I may have been depressed for a long long time and not realized or accepted it,. Now I feel like I cant cope or see reality.
in your opinion DRUGS OR NOT??
Answer: I am ,like you, against drugs. But this statement doesn't work well for everyone because million causes. That's why I'll answer you more generally.
The best medicine will be when will be a perfect fusion between the actual conventional medicine and so-called alternative medicine that is not so "alternative". Until then, each one works by appropriate interests of its field.
In my opinion, when is a matter of life or death ,the conventional medicine is superior, with all the knowledge and technology and accumulation of experience. But where is a chronic suffering that doesn't let you to live a normal life but nor kills you, just torture you day after day, there, to the conventional medicine isn't a good solution , with all the respect to different drugs. Then people are looking for alternatives Never I saw a cured depression with drugs Amelioration yes but not cured. The same I can tell you about Parkinson and many digestive illness for example. My strong opinion is that a person in such case must to take himself on hands and change attitude being active in self-healing.The possibilities are so many,so close to you and finally, so cheap....and so effective. Let us to speak about oxygen. It is everywhere at no cost. The reality you seek is you can make 100 deep breaths daily and feel on the heaven ,full of energy. Your brain will thank you. It's no secret that they improve secretion of hormones in body. Let us to speak about your thoughts. Why not to change them? Eliminate sadness, melancholy, irritability. Instead be full of love for yourself and for life.

Answer: you can not smoke marijuana for about a month.
Question: What kind of shampoo/conditioner products prevents from my hair fall off? I dont take shower everyday because I do not want my hair thinner. I used shampoo and my hair fell off. It is like my scalp couldn't hold my hair to stay in. Sure, I know the little fall off is normal, but this one is like double one.
Is there any remedy like nutrition to keep my hair stay with scalp to make it stronger to hold while I take shower?
I m female who has good hair.
Answer: use only organic...aubrey organics, or avalon organics is great. I use the Avalon Organics, Biotin B-Complex Thickening Shampoo, 14 fl oz (400 ml) ...get it from iherb.com and use the matching conditioner and my hair hasnt been falling out as much, and its much silkier and healthier.
You can also put in aloe vera gel to your hair and scalp and this helps hair to regrow, and coconut oil too...rub into your scalp and helps regrowth!!
Question: What's the best way to find a local primary care doctor with more of an "alternative medicine" leading? I've got Blue Cross coverage, and I can't tell from their directory of doctors who would be more likely to have an alternative medicine leaning (in other words, if there's a problem, the first answer isn't just a pharmeseutical one, but might involve nutrition/natural remedies.)
Any thoughts of how to find a doctor like this? Thanks!
Answer: Good luck with that!
I have been unable to find such a person. Educate yourself. The internet is a great tool and find people to help you with advice. Personally, I have a number of books to refer to in addition to the internet, plus I see a chiropractor reguarly and a massage therapist. I also have different friends who know a lot about food and nutrition and natural remedies and healing. I consider my GP one of many resources when it comes to my health and well being.
Question: Looking for an outstanding school of nutrition/ aromatherapy/aruveda/flower star remedies? Considering Bastyr since they also have a culinary program
Answer: Just make sure it's ACCREDITED by an agency approved by the US Department of Education (USDE) and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
When it comes to the area of study you've specified, one can't throw a rock without hitting a school that's unaccredited... or, worse, a downright diploma mill.
Never take any school's word for it that it's accredited. Always, always, always look it up in either or both of the USDE and/or CHEA databases at:
http://www.chea.org/search
http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation
If the school in which you're interested isn't in one or both of those databases, then, no matter what it claims, it is NOT accredited. Unaccredited schools which are nevertheless still basically credible (and not diploma mills) sometimes fudge a little on their accreditation status; and diploma mills nearly ALWAYS lie... some of them going to far as to create their own fake (but nevertheless impressive sounding) accreditors.
Look it up. Always.
If you're talking about this place...
Bastyr University
14500 Juanita Drive N.E.
Kenmore, WA 98028
United States
Phone: 425-823-1300
http://www.bastyr.edu
...then it is, indeed, accredited by a USDE- and CHEA-approved accreditor.
And, by the way, it's a REALLY good school. If you can get into it, then look no further. Seriously.
Hope that helps.
Question: Home Remedy for Chronic Nasal Inflammation & Congestion? My nasal passage are chronically swollen and inflamed. Serious allergies other than seasonal have been ruled out, and I've simply tried to tolerate this as I cannot take antihistamines or decongestants due to adverse reactions, but the post-nasal drip is driving me insane. I do not like to take medications and would rather try natural remedies, supplements, nutrition cures etc...
I've tried many of the obvious remedies, such as steaming, drinking plenty of fluids, hot/cold compresses, etc. so I would appreciate any ideas you might have. [Thanks!]
PS- please, no spamming to wholesale vitamin websites ;-)
Answer: nasal flushes? using vicks at night?my wife does this. she puts a little just at the edge of each nostril. there are homeopathic websites for this.
Question: What kind of doctor would I be considered if I wanted to work with nutrition, natural remedies....? I like to cook and prepare food, and I love to study nutrition.
But, nutritionists don't make that great of money,
so I want to incorporate other more advanced occupations.
My mother speaks of having gone to a "natural doctor that promotes wellness and long term treatment".
I'd also like to work with inpatients, if possible. If not, that's fine.
But, is there any type of 'doctor' that does this?
I'm big on natural/herbal, being healthy. That's what I'd like to have in my career as well.
Also, I'm wanting to take a psychology course while I'm still in highschool.
Maybe that could be added to what I could be and what I'll study in college?
I found it,
it's not osteopathic,
it is naturopathic.
But thank you :)
Answer: How about a dietitian?
Dietitian salaries by state:
http://www.ihirenutrition.com/Site_Map.asp?title=Dietitian&type=salary
Dietitians and nutritionists are health professionals who study and apply the principles of nutrition and food management. There are several kinds of dietitians and nutritionists. The largest group is made up of administrative dietitians. Administrative dietitians manage food services in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, restaurants, industrial plants, military bases, and other institutions. They plan and direct the purchase and preparation of food, as well as supervise other food service workers. Administrative dietitians ensure that the meals served are nutritious, appetizing, and within the institution's budget.
Clinical dietitians plan meals for hospital patients and others who have special dietary needs. They assess patients' nutritional needs, confer with doctors, and may use computers to analyze nutritional intake. Sometimes they teach people who need special diets how to plan and prepare foods at home.

Question: Where can I find health professors for a Professional Column? My website is under construction, it's a website containing information of nutrition, natural remedies, alternative medicine, books, quizzies and so on. (http://www.foodheal.com)
I want to add a Professional Column in it, to introduce people who are good at that and their articles. It's also a way to promote that person and their thoughts.
I just wonder where can I find qualified people for my column.
Anyone who are interested in it can give me an email:

Answer: Could you check your local college?
Maybe a local doctor's office would have some leads.
People would likely want to help, as it would get their name out there more as a noted professional and garner themselves some credibility.
Question: Can anyone recommend a webcam software for broadcasting lectures and classes? I am a webmaster and owner of a holistic health business. I am asked numerous times to offer online classes or lectures about herbs, holistic remedies and nutrition. I have a webcam and a camcorder and I know how to create html codes for my website. However, I have no idea what type of webcam software program to buy in order for my clients to see and hear my classes. Please don't recommend yahoo, aol, msn or paltalk. I need an independent webcam software to broadcast my classes and lectures. Thanks.
Answer: There are two that I know of that may work. One is from Homewatcher.com and the other one is from Surveilliz CamLite. I used the one in my home for quite some time and then I switched to the latter one. I am not sure if this is what you want, but you can check.
Question: Whats a good career to start college for? I am going to begin college but Im worried about my choice of a major because of the economy. I am very interested in holistic nutrition and natural remedies but that really a booming business now? Any suggestions? I want something that makes great money but is up that avenue..
Answer: Be very careful about "holistic nutrition" and "natural remedies". The field is full of scams, self-delusion, and worthless unaccredited colleges.
One of these days, the FDA is going to find the guts to crack down on these scams and many altmed "holistic nutritionists" are going to be out of work, if not in jail.
If you are interested in reputable nutrition studies, consult the American Dietetic Association" and the "Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education" for accredited college programs.
Question: Is it possible for male puberty to be interrupted and then continue a few years later? Assume that stress due to ongoing major depressive disorder and one year of malnutrition interrupted puberty in a male teen. Is it possible for puberty to resume once the stress and nutrition have been remedied?
Answer: You are assuming a lot of nasty stuff happening at once,
And that can slow down your puberty a bit.
And if conditions get better you go on normally with your puberty.
See the starving kids from Africa :tiny and all bones.
And when they are helped you see them grow stronger each day.

Question: Does the herbal product called Shenmin really work? Shenmin was recommended to me by my local health and nutrition store as a natural remedy for balding. I have seen ads for this product that "guarantee" that they will regrow your hair. I've also been told to try Avacore. What's the truth?
Answer: do not know but you can try:
Baldness, hair grow & regrow formula
8 oz. avocado oil
30 gram rosemary
5 drops peppermint oil
mix these three ingredients
you can either place them in a glass container (heat resistant) and place in an oven for 20 minutes at 300 deg F OR place in a dark colored glass bottle and store a dark place for 6 weeks
once you have completed the above step, strain the oil to remove the rosemary
(use cheese cloth or similar cloth and squeeze the extra oil out)
once you have strained the oil you can massage one teaspoonful into your scalp three times a day
store the unused portion in a dark colored bottle in a cool dark place (not cold), you can store it for up to 3 months
