Nutritional Value
Question: nutritional value...?? This is totally random, but i think random things a lot.
I was wondering what the nutritional value of paper would be. Yes paper. No want to eat it lolz, just curious.
Like its made from wood, which is a plant, so wouldn’t it be good for you?...
Answer: No there's really no nutritional value at all, there's minimal calories but it's really indigestible fiber from wood pulp... it's not something you can digest, you'll basically just "pass" a really, really big spitball a few days later. Might want to call the plumber in advance for this one.
BTW, paper is processed with tons of dyes and inks so it might even be detrimental to your health to eat it.
There are SOME types of paper that are edible though, like rice paper. The rumor that Trident gum's wrapper is edible was probably based on a type of Japanese candy, called BOTAN rice candy, which has edible rice paper around it.
Also, there's some environmentalist/conservationist groups that use animal poop and process it into paper... I've heard of elephant and panda poop paper. Please don't eat that, either.
Question: What is the meaning of nutritional value? I want to know the meaning of nutritional value and if you can do example on nutritional value.example you take one type of food and then just list the nutritional value.Much help will be appreciated.Much sarcarsm will be unappreciated.
So that means the nutritional value is shown on the product food for showing you etc. how much kcal it has,how much fat it has,in a graph?
But I am doing a project and it states "Name 5 high carbohydrate foods and list their nutritional value." How do I do it then??
Answer: nutrional value.... is basically a helpful advise to consumers or buyers for a longer life.. in other words... avoid too much consumption of foods overwhelmed with sodium, saturated fats, trans fat...
kcal.. means calories.. which means to keep a good diet.. keep at least 2000 calories or every 24 hours... otherwise.. you'll turn into a balloon.. gradually. hope that is sufficient enough.

Question: How can you monitor the nutritional value of dishes that you prepare at home? When you buy prepackaged meals the nutritional value, calories, fat, etc is written on the box. When you prepare a meal at home, you add many different ingredients. So how do you know how much fat, sodium, vitamins, etc that is in each serving?
Answer: The meals you prepare at home can be graded.
eg. Cereals, vegetables ,fish, meat, eggs, milk products, fruits etc.
There are prepared charts available over the web, or book stores, or
the health department where they give the calorie value of every type of food used in that country. These charts can even show the available vitamins and minerals in the foods.
You should also possess a kitchen scale or better a dieter's scale
from which you can get the weights of the raw foods you use or the weight of the cooked foods.
In some charts calorie values of 100 G of the raw stuff is given.
Some charts give the calorie values in terms of house hold cups or table spoons etc.
With these available you will have no difficulty.
Certain tips.
After some time you tend to remember , most of the values and the problem will be less
Question: Does the nutritional value of a banana increase as the stages progress? Does a banana's nutritional value increase as it develops in its stages. If so, does extracting the DNA help determine this?
Answer: Well let me put it this way. I hope you eat that banana, and drop the peel on the ground. Later that day an elderly woman is going to slip and fall on that peel. She's going to fracture her entire head reveal her brains as they bash open on the sidewalk. Reporters will have fun with this story for weeks. enjoy the splatter art.
Question: What is the nutritional value of a fresh coconut? What is the nutritional value of a fresh coconut (the meat of the fruit)? Like what kind of vitamins does it have? How much fat, carbs, etc. I am NOT talking about the coconut IN A BAG i am talking about having a brown coconut you buy from the store, crack it open to find white coconut fruit/meat and milk inside.
Answer: There's a VERY comprehensive set of charts (which I highly recommend!) at the Nutrition Data website at http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/nut-and-seed-products/3106/2 which show the nutritional value of fresh coconut. Because the information is in chart form, I'm unable to copy and paste the details here, so please click on this link or at the Nutrition Data URL that's located in the Source(s) listings below.
At the Daily Plate website at http://www.thedailyplate.com/nutrition-calories/food/generic/fresh-coconut-meat, there's information provided but it's less comprehensive than the Nutrition Data.com details. Still, the following nutritional information is provided at the Daily Plate for one serving (100 g. or approx. 3-1/2 oz. [or about the size of a normal deck of playing cards]) of:

Coconut and its derivative products were lumped together in the 1950s as being unhealthy by the profit-motivated propaganda generated by the then-growing margarine and poly-unsaturated fats/oils industry to market their products. Coconut is actually a very healthy food and is good for our bodies! Coconut oil, for example, is very effective against a variety of infections due to its antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. To read more about coconut and its health benefits, you can go to various websites including: http://www.organicfacts.net/organic-oils/organic-coconut-oil/health-benefits-of-coconut-oil.html, http://www.coconutresearchcenter.org/, and others.
I truly hope this is helpful! All the best!

Question: Can guinea pig pellets lose their nutritional value when the bag hasnt even been opened? Im planning on buying a guinea pig and im odering all the supplies online, so i wanted to get two bags of food to be safe. But ive heard that the food loses its nutritional value after 4 to 5 months, does that still apply when you havnt opened the bag?
Answer: Usually the food is good, and recommended, for 6 months. The vitamins in the food are stabilized to keep them at their full potency. The food I buy has a use by/expiration date on it. Personally, I think it's a crock... but I'm not a pellet manufacturer, and my piggy is the one critter I can't make food for. You could freeze the food if you want it to last longer. But I still think that would effect the vitamins, stabilized or not, as well as maybe the food. You might want to check and see if you can freeze the food safely. I buy a 10 lb. bag online of my piggy's favorite food. I know it takes us a bit longer than 6 months to go thru it sometimes and we haven't had a problem yet, but my piggy gets fresh foods at least twice a day as well, besides good timothy hay.
Question: Does an egg lose it's nutritional value if cooked by microwave instead of using a skillet? Discussion between two women at work, I've been doing it for years, never thought about it. 1 cooks 2 eggs for her child in microwave with no butter no oil nothing, the other uses a skillet using olive oil and scramble. Which one is better, and Can You Lose The Nutritional Value Of An Egg?
Answer: Does an egg lose it's nutritional value if cooked by microwave instead of using a skillet?
NO.
Question: What fruits and vegetables have the most nutritional value? I've been told that things like celery and corn have pretty much no nutritional value. What fruits and veggies are truly beneficial to our health?
Answer: Generally speaking, the veggies & fruits with the deepest colors have the most antioxidents & phytochemicals, i.e. blueberries, yams, etc. (I'm no nutritionist, just read a lot of self-help magazines.)
Question: What is the best way to get the most nutritional value out of steel-cut oats? I make a nutritional smoothie for breakfast each morning. I make sure to include steel-cut oats for the fiber. The cooking directions on the box says to either cook or soak the oats overnight. I just put them in the blender with my fruit and soy milk. There are some seeds that have to be grounded (flax) in order to get the most nutritional value. Are steel-cut oats the same? Am I getting the most nutrients that I can by blending instead of cooking them?
Answer: Steel cut oats have their nutrition due to the lack of over processing. If you can stand the gritty texture of just blending them, go for it. You don't gain that much extra nutrition, though. I'd at least soak them overnight, but I like them best cooked in a rice cooker, and then added to other foods, smoothies and bread dough being my favorite.
I love them just as cooked oats, though, with a bit of brown sugar...yum!
Question: How much nutritional value do you lose in canned fruit compared to fresh fruit? The best in order are: fresh, canned, then dried correct?
How much of the nutritional value do you lose in consuming canned fruit vs. eating it fresh? THANKS
Answer: Actually, depending on when it was canned, canned or frozen produce can often have more nutrients than fresh.
Of course, water-packed is going to be a lot better than syrup.
Question: Why do pickles have no nutritional value? Does it have to do with the process of pickling, or do cucumbers not have much nutritional value either?
Answer: Pickles are made from cucumbers which are mostly made of water (95%) ! It does not have anything to do with the pickling process. That's just for the taste and to make the cucumber into a pickle. Pickles are great though! This food is low in Saturated Fat, and very low in Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Vitamin A, Pantothenic Acid, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Manganese, and a very good source of Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Potassium.
Question: Does the nutritional value of vegetables decrease if they are mixed into a casserole or pasta dish? I ate chicken with marinara pasta sauce, spaghetti, and an assortment of grilled vegetables were mixed into the pasta. Is it ok to count those vegetables as part of my daily intake or is the fact that it was served with other ingredients mar it's nutritional value?
Answer: Your question is an interesting one. cooking can destroy some nutrients but also can make others available to humans that digestion alone can not release. Casserole isnt really the issue, its heat and time, and cooking is about creating a desirable result not just making fuel so yes it may reduce for example the value of a carrots nutrition but a lovely braised carrot is delicious in a different way to a raw one.
Many people only eat cooked food - plenty of kids wont touch salad, and as a rule given enough food to fill our bellies most of the time we can afford to be suboptimal on our intake - sacrificing some nutrient for taste is a working compromise.
enjoy food
