Omega

Question: What are some foods that are high in omega 3 and low in omega 6? All i can find online is mainly fish. Are there any other foods that are also high in omega 3 and low in omega 6?

Answer: Purslane: http://www.jacn.org/cgi/content/abstract/11/4/374 But like flaxseed, it may also contain omega 6 fatty acids in proportion with omega 3 fatty acids and flaxseed also contains omega 9 fatty acids but not sure about purslane. But there may be a higher ratio of omega 3 in purslane. Sea buckthorn contains omega 3, 6, 9 and the unique omega 7. The latter which is a known lubricator in the sense it helps secretions such as tear formation where there is a tendency to dry eyes and vaginal secretions where there is a tendency to dryness. I think fish oil is the only food supplement that will give you omega 3 fatty acids alone. Chickens grazing on purslane produce high omega 3 eggs: http://www.wildgardenseed.com/index.php?cPath=49
